Really cute coffee shop and good tea. Havent tried the food but it looks good! The couch is comfy although it can get a bit crowded and hard to get a seat in here because of its proximity to nyu. Other than that its a great place to chill, play scrabble, etc. Also the grafitti on the bathroom walls is funny. read more

Went here almost every day before class when I was in grad school. Very chill vibe. Very good coffee. Love the huge cookies they have in the display case. Even some beers on tap in the back. Their staff are pretty obnoxiously hipster, but they aren't as rude as some others I've encountered. One day, though, I would love to see somebody backhand the trucker hat off of one of them. Maybe that would knock the aloof look off his/her face. You're serving customers, put on a smile for sh*t's sake. Oh well, a fine cafe despite the 'tude. read more

In search of the great NYC cafe?! OK, this is the first one I've been to since I've moved and im pleasantly surprised. Good coffee, lots of space, variety of table sizes, and little interesting touches like Scrabble! I need to re-assess the coffee though; ive only had the drip. We'll see how the espresso is later. Although, as a negative I heard Coldplay on the sound system this morning (*barf!) Moreover, I need to elucidate what the perfect cafe would be... 1) Preferably no wi-fi! The world was not meant to bring your computer and play on the internet and backdoor into fake socialness! 2) People reading for pleasure not school! Or if at least for school some interesting non-functional shit! 3) People reading Nietzsche (dare i dream!) 4) Energetic staff that remembers your drink and your name! All NYC coffee shops are overpriced, that is the nature of the beast. I try not to let that overly affect my reviews. During the school year this spot is filled with obnoxious and pretentious NYU kids pretending to study but really just checking facebook and socializing. The staff is pretty inconsistent too, a fair amount of the time they are rude and unprofessional, but I have interacted with some real sweethearts as well. Seating is limited and outlets are even more scarce. They really should have a "Laptop free zone" like The Bean nearby does. The coffee and espresso are average, the food is even more underwhelming. It is much less busy and NYU-kid-filled during the summer months. If you need a cafe with outlets and wifi, this can be a decent spot during the summer. If you are more interested in a good cup of joe or espresso, go down the street to Everyman Espresso which brews with Counter Culture beans. :) read more

DELICIOUS!!! I was in the area, and was looking for one thing--a coffee shop that had almond milk. So, when I walked into Think Coffee, and I noticed that it met my requirement, I took the liberty of ordering a small almond milk cappuccino. For $4.60, the price was...well, it's New York City. But the cashier was extremely friendly, and I was eager to try their concoction. I waited a couple of minutes for my drink (typical for a coffee shop). It was small--I'm pretty sure it was just 8 ounces--but it was beautiful and simply AMAZING!! Between the strong espresso and the frothed almond milk, it truly exceeded my expectations (which were high)! I didn't sit down or order anything to eat--although I noticed they serve baked goods and sandwiches, which seem to be popular. They also serve beer and wine later in the day, if you're looking to unwind at a cafe. With boutique coffee shops all around the area, it might be tempting to try another place. But... I just don't think I'll bother because Think is WAY TOO GOOD, and sure to become addicting very soon! read more

After seeing Circumcise Me, at the Bleeker St theater, we decided to find a place to grab a quick cup of coffee. Knowing that its NYC and we wouldn't have to walk far to find a coffee joint, we walked to the corner and staring us in the face was the "Think Coffee" sign. We walked in and it was definitely your typical independent city type of coffee house. This is the type of place I could picture myself going into on a regular basis. All of the employees there were extremely friendly. We being kosher wanted to make sure that the flavorings added to the coffee would be kosher (since coffee by default is kosher). The guy behind the register was more than willing to go and check all the bottles, even though the way it was set up, it was a round about way he needed to go and do it. I ordered a vanilla latte, which they added a cool little design into the foam on the top. My only beef is their large seemed to be pretty small for a large, and the latte wasn't as sweet as I typically like it, but it was still very good. read more

This think coffee is literally one block away from me, but I have gone there all of two times since I moved into my build about a year ago. Why? They are overpriced and their coffee tastes bad. Moreover, when I want food it's always "sorry, we don't serve that now". It's always too late or too early for the food I want. The bathrooms are terribly disgusting. read more

Fueled by the dollars of stressed-because-I-took-too-many-shots-last-night-but-I-have-get-an-A-because-I'm-at-an-elite-university NYU students, Think Coffee is filled with lots of good seating and offers many, many drink and food options: all the usual espresso and coffee drinks, sandwiches, soups, parfaits, and so on. They use local, antibiotic milk from happy cows and have a complicated little recycling/composting system for customers to use. I didn't think my grilled cheese was anything special, and the granola in my yogurt tasted sawdusty and dull. But overall, it was okay, and worth it to be able to spend a few hours to use the free wireless and get some work done. read more

I come here all the time whether it is to grab a snack before class, to meet up with friends, or to even conduct interviews; my go-to spot because it's actually a coffee spot that you can sit down in unlike most of the little tiny spaces around NYC where you stand, get your coffee, and get the hell out as soon as possible so other people can fit inside. That said, I've had quite a few things here, all of which have ranged from a bit okay to pretty awesome. Overall 3/5 for multiple reasons: Space - With all the tables you'd think you would have some decent space to study. Not so. NYU has too many students who are too eager to study and too eager to be caffeinated 24/7. Also way too noisy to get true work done or speak to someone more than a foot away from your face. Coffee - black coffee is AMAZING. I could drink their black iced coffee forever with nothing in it, because it's so rich. Not very bitter but just aromatic and awesome. I recommend putting soy in your coffee for optimal flavor. Food: Pastries - got the 9-grain muffin and it was really awesome. Soft and crumbly and felt a little bit healthier although I'm sure it's not. It's huge so share or save some for later. Pain in the ass to eat (crumbs were found inside my shirt for hours). Food: Brie & apple sandwich - ugh. Not good. Avoid. The apples tasted very un-fresh and the brie paired with honey was just too weird for me and flavors didn't pair up as expected. Also the bread was ridiculously hard. Go for another sandwich (I haven't tried yet). read more

They threw out my tea while I was in the restroom. I was planning on getting some more hot water. Its ironic because anyone who frequents this joint knows that its pretty filthy, to actually be there when something is cleaned is indeed a rare occasion. I think a good way to measure quality product and customer service is when... the staff care MORE about the coffee ... the food... and the space... THAN I do. Its quite clear this is not the case. So you'll probably leave feeling that if it weren't for the WiFi, it truly wouldn't be worth it. read more

Okay, it can get REALLY packed, but that's because the coffee is gooOd and the outlet access is gooOD and ambiance is 10/10. Nitro brew and Spanish latte are top of my list here, as well as the socially-responsibly-sourced drip coffee! Food is just okay, really, and wouldn't outright recommend mainly because price does not match quality. Good place to do work, individual or group, and catch up with a few friends, but don't stay too long because otherwise you have to wait to use the slightly off-putting bathrooms that are more like closets with plumbing. Also! There is a reward program but it is through email/credit card so that's a big part of what keeps me coming back, hehe. read more

The secret to utilizing the wi-fi here is to go on a nice day. After NYC has had a sweltering past couple days there has been a pleasant cool down that pleads with people to do everything outside and nothing inside. JOY! I sat where I wanted for hours! HOURS! No Julie K.'s were hovering over me and I was uber unproductive because I had all the time in the world to work on whatever it was I was working on. The coffee smells good but needs some doctoring up. The food is overpriced. Guess that's how they pay for the credit card machine fee instead of charging you a minimum. I've been here once on a brisk fall day and again for the World Fair Trade Day festivities and it's crazy crowded on days when the weather is in a drastic state. Lots of flys and gnats get drawn in to the front which pretty much sucks when I'm trying to look coffee shop chic. It's visually quite pleasing. There's lots of tables and chairs. It reminds me of a study that I would see in a movie. And if you stay there all day like me you might spy some famous Yelpers, like Javier getting his mack on. I would've said hi but it's apparently really easy to remain focused on the person you're with at Think. Don't worry Javier ... for a small fee, I won't leak any info to the Yelparazzi. read more

Closest thing to a Seattle coffeehouse I've found since moving to New York City: plenty of seating, free WiFi, chill atmosphere, and a focus on artisan coffee and local ingredients/snacks. Unlike most New Yorkers, I am not fond of Dunkin Donuts Coffee and Seattle spoiled me to try the local varieties around here. Try the Triple Espresso, Iced Coffees are decent. The Lemon Bar is terrible, don't spend $2.95 on it. Also, Think Coffee has an elaborate menu of coffee items that you'll ask -- what is that? The Red Eye is a drink that's 2 shots epresso and a cup of coffee combined. The Spanish Coffee should be called VIETNAMESE Coffee because its coffee with condensed milk (served hot or cold). Uh, hello, as a Chinese/Viet, I can tell you we made that popular to sell -- not really the Spanish, ha. This place is a gathering hub for NYU students so be prepared for lack of seating. It has to be said that the free wifi at this place is a sham. I can't think of one time in the last ten times I've been here that the wifi has worked long enough to send an email. Now I can understand that it's bad for a coffee shop's bottomline to have wifi so reliable that people come in, order a $2 coffee and play World of Warcraft all day. But some of us actually buy their overpriced food items and a drink every hour or so, hoping to get some minimal work done that requires the Internet. I love hanging out here on a Saturday and playing Scrabble (if I can get a seat). Getting a seat can be challenging and frustrating. HUGE fan of this place. The people-watching is JUST interesting enough as a curiosity, but not so much so that it's distracting from the mountains of To Do's I prefer to tackle out-of-home. The highlight is the HUGE number of plugs and free wifi that's pretty consistent. There's a variety of seating (chairs, stools, tables), and also seating arrangements. The staff's friendly, and they have enough food to keep you from starving, and at decent prices. They even have boardgames and booze, and lots of fliers for local artists. read more

as i write this i am typing faster and faster, because my Think Coffee latte has just kicked in. or wait, maybe I'm typing so fast because of the unnecessary loud volume of the music, which is not music i am a fan of at that moment. i suppose i could put on my noise canceling headphones so i could focus and get some work done....but I'm not sure that even they would cancel out this noise. also all the banging behind the counter! does it really take all that noise to run a coffee shop! oh, i do love this place, i feel free to camp out all day with my laptop, the coffee is good, but it's just so LOUD! it makes me feel nervous....i would probably give another star if the noise level was taken down a few notches. also, don't get the PB&J....almost $5 for this thing, and it is dry and bland! read more

This was my haven for grading during my first year of teaching... really nicely brewed iced coffees, and decent sandwiches. Not a huge fan of their desserts except for the vegan cupcakes they get from Sacred Chow. It can be a bit frustrating when the WiFi goes down, or when the NYU kids take over all the seats, but overall, a pretty nice place to work. Get there early though, to stake out prime real estate (I like the two-person tables across from the counter), and you'll be all set! read more

Well, now I know I am a New Yorker. I drink coffee. Think Coffee. They are entirely to blame for my assimilation, you see. Before I found think, I wandered the streets...lost, forlorn...foreign. People could read my aura from miles away and new I was without friend or clue. Post-Think, people approach me for directions, and I can give them. I no longer stop at corners, but blaze through the throngs of petrified tourists. I hail taxi cabs with panache. ...and I somehow believe it is alright to pay $4 for a bitty decaf soy latte... Love their iced matcha lattes and everything bagel. Matcha latte isn't too bitter or too sweet. The everything bagel has flavor throughout the dough. Compared to just flavoring on top. Think is a good coffee shop if you want a bite or a chat. I've had the beet salad here, and it was delicious. There tends to be a lot of people and music volume is on high, so it is a good place for some socializing. Ironically, despite the ubiquity of laptops in this space, it is not a great place to study or do work. The music is too loud to concentrate easily -- it could easily be taken down a few notches, and even then you wouldn't be able to hear the group of people talking next to you. But beyond that, the music is an issue, because it often is distracting. They might play a good song here or there, but then they might also inflict the entire Michael Jackson Thriller album on you. It's a crapshoot. Which brings me to my last point. (Speaking of crap, you might say.) The bathrooms are so [expletive] disgusting that this place is best enjoyed for whatever amount of time you can go without relieving your bladder. First of all, the bathroom walls are the kind of sea green that you associate with the basement in your elementary school. On top of that, they are covered with layers and layers of obnoxious, misspelled graffiti. And the only space not written on (the floor) is covered with the urine that people somehow could not get into the toilet bowl. Yuck. That said, if you just come for the food or a quick lunch, it's fine. Just forget all your aspirations to productivity, and flee before nature calls. read more

So, basically, it is about the same price as what you already pay for a large beverage and bagel, except now it is linked to less corruption. Honestly I never do this, but the liquid I received today from a postmate order was so terrible that I need people to know this one thing: Do not ever buy a chai from this place. I really don't want to say I am a chai snob (although I probably am), if only because I think regardless of my opinions on a proper chai, what they actually let walk out of the door was atrocious. There is a terrible syrup quality to it that is bitter from start to finish. If you are a smaller chain, the last thing you want is for starbucks to beat you at the same drink. Really liked this spot on my first visit and had to go back! Mainly for that banana walnut bread ooh wee it's so good. The second time I asked for it warm good either way. The carrot muffin was moist and tasty. So far everything tasted fresh. Was Curious about the Spanish latte was told it has a bit of sweet condensed milk just wish it was a bit more because i couldn't tell the difference from a regular latte, don't get me wrong it tasted very good but I just thought I would be able to taste a difference.
