Why are all these Cbus gems so hidden! I guess part of their charm is being in less crowded areas. Service - top notch. Food - top notch. Ambiance - top notch. Eat here. 3rd and Hollywood has never let us down. Each visit has featured delicious food, excellent service and left us with a desire to soon return. The cheddar herb biscuits are a must order with each visit. The menu has just enough entrees to please any type of eater, but is not overloaded with too many items. Excellent wine and cocktails. If you are lucky enough to visit when they have the Lemon Square on the menu, make sure to leave room. It's the perfect capper to a delicious dinner. Highly recommend this establishment. read more

Tried this place for the first-time last night. We travel all around Columbus in search of great meals and hidden gems. Third and Hollywood was next on our list of places to try. Our favorite spots are Kitchen Social, Koso, Pho Social, J. Gilberts, Nada and Hoyo, so using those favorites as a frame of reference for this meal. The restaurant was uncomfortably chilly inside, but the ambiance was nice otherwise. It's a smaller space and it was absolutely packed. Waited 30 minutes past our reservation for a table. The cheddar biscuits we had as an appetizer were absolutely delicious! My favorite part of the meal for sure and a close second to Kitchen Social. For dinner, I had the recommended special, which was the 16oz ribeye. My SO got the 6 oz filet. 16 oz is a lot of steak! I was absolutely stuffed after eating about three quarters of it. Also paying the price today for the mid-rare choice with visit from a stomach bug. My SO enjoyed the filet. The steaks were prepared how we asked and had good flavor but were not special in any way. The mashed potatoes we each received with our meal were slightly warm, not hot. They had good flavor but would have been better hot. We also both received brussels sprouts. They were also good with the cheese, olive oil and salt & pepper, but I wish other options were available. For $58 a steak do I have to be locked into brussels sprouts on both plates? To drink I had a water, and my SO had a mojito. It was okay, not worth the $14. Overall, it was a good meal, but not $170 after the tip good meal. It's 5 stars at $80 and 3 stars at $170. If you want to overpay for a meal, go check this place out. If you want to get what you pay for, maybe look elsewhere. read more

I typically have enjoyed the ambiance and food at Third and Hollywood. However, tonight's experience was truly disappointing. My friend is a big fan of Jackie O's Ricky, which is advertised on the drink menu. Our server said the tap was broken, so it wasn't available. The last time we were there, the keg for Jackie O's was bad. Our server then offered another beer option, but when we asked if we could have a sample, she said that wasn't possible. Our server's attitude just set the downward tone for our entire meal. My grilled fish sandwich was so-so and the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing. I know the restaurant industry is struggling to attract and retain staff. However, it shows when you get individuals who just aren't well-suited to work at nicer establishments. It will be a while before we go back to Third and Hollywood. read more

I love Third and Hollywood! The food, ambiance and the service are consistently good. The happy hour is also a great deal. Every time I have been here I have gotten the vegetarian mixed grill and everything on the plate is so tasty. Such a wide variety of flavors for a vegetarian dish which is sometimes hard to find. Wine selection is great, also fairly easy to get a last minute reservation which is always nice. Ambiance is fun, cozy, and welcoming. I wish I would have taken pictures of our food but it looked so good we couldn't wait to dive in. - Grilled artichokes- really good and loved the sauce. Perfect appetizer to start the meal. - Cauliflower Cashew Soup- a friend told us to try this and it did not disappoint! I could have licked the bowl - Austin Hope Cabernet- definitely delicious. - Mixed Vegetable Grill- arugula salad with roasted butternut squash, wild rice, Brussels and a cauliflower dish. Comfortable, warm, immaculate. The service is perfect. Not intrusive and always on pointe. Our entree took longer than expected. Our server casually mentioned, while serving our entrees, that the starters were complimentary for our time. Their pimento cheese is balanced. The cauliflower cashew soup is perfect with a tiny kick of chili oil. The steak was perfectly cooked, the potatoes crispy, and the raspberry sauce on the deep dish French toast will make you smile. I ordered a bottle of the "Ridge Three Valleys Zinfandel" for $54. When it arrived at the table it was already opened. At first, I thought our server was going to give us a taste but was soon set straight: The owner required bottles to be opened PRIOR to arriving tableside, as either an efficiency measure or to utterly confuse the customer. The server seemed trustworthy, but . . . ? And what if you order a bottle of the "Odette Estate '16 | Stags Leap" at $219 or a bottle of champagne? This was truly a WTF? moment. Wow!! How is it possible that I've lived in Columbus for 11 years and had never been here before?! I'm not even sure how long it's been here but damn this is going to be a new favorite! I went here last Friday to celebrate mine and my friend's bday. My friends had suggested it because they said it had a good happy hour. I was super late getting there because I had gotten caught up at work. So I missed happy hour but my friends had saved me some of the cheddar biscuits (which are free during happy hour!) I was starving so I would have eaten anything but OMG these things are delicious!! If you like the cheddar bay biscuits from Red Lobster, these are like those, but even better! I seriously gobbled down the remainder of the biscuits in about 90 seconds. For dinner, I ordered the burger and fries (burgers are my fave!). I was not disappointed! The burger was the perfect size and I love their pickles on top (they are the sliced vertically like Steak 'n Shake. YUM!) The patty was cooked to perfection and had great taste. Honestly I don't really remember much more about the burger bc once again I finished it in about 90 seconds. The fries were AMAZING! They looked just like normal fries with no visible seasoning, but these fries are PACKED with truffle flavoring! My one friend took a few fries off of another friends plate just to taste test and they were so good that she kept taking them! Haha! Since we were there to celebrate my bday (and bc I always get dessert anyways), we asked our server for the dessert menu. I already knew I wanted the chocolate pudding/mousse since I had seen some pics here on Yelp. It came with a homemade whipped cream and was delicious! It was dark chocolate pudding and I normally only like milk chocolate but this was so good that I barely noticed the difference. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the salt crystals on top. They were too salty and got in the way of the essence of the dessert. If I got that dessert again, I would ask for no salt. Luckily they are just sprinkled on top so you can navigate around them. And bc it was my bday, the dessert was complimentary! I always love when restaurants do that. It makes the experience more special! Also, our server was very attentive and I got a glass of Pinot noir that I enjoyed. All in all, this place is excellent! Elegant ambiance, good mood lighting, wonderful food, and a great happy hour! Technically I didn't even have to pay for the appetizer or dessert! Another friend wants to take me out for my bday too and I'm honestly considering going back here again bc I loved it so much. This place has been on my radar for a while now. I'm glad I finally got to try out their brunch. Their steak and eggs dish was HEAVENLY. The steak was tender and seasoned to perfection. I also liked that it was cut into pieces. Steak was laid on of a bed of crispy fried onions and topped off with a creamy horseradish sauce. The steak paired perfectly with the bitter and spicy arugula salad and vinaigrette. Let's not forget how happy I was that the dish came with two of their famous cheddar biscuits because I can confirm their cheddar biscuits are an absolute MUST here!! read more

Finally got to check this spot out after hearing much praise from friends. I would say that it definitely lived up to its hype. To start off my friends and I ordered the biscuits, whole grilled artichoke, truffled ricotta and Caesar salad. The biscuits were good, but not quite as good as people have made them out to be. The ricotta was amazing, after trying it, I put it on almost everything that I ate. I'm not typically a Caesar salad person, but I think that was probably the best Caesar I've ever had and would definitely order it again and again. The whole grilled artichoke was also very delicious, my first one I've ever tried! For entrees, we ordered the hanger steak (which was on special the night we went) and tuna. I don't eat fish so I did not try the tuna, my friends loved it though. The hanger steak I thought was great, I really like the marinade/seasonings on it. Of course we ordered dessert, we got the pecan pie and apple skillet. Apple skillet was good, but the pecan pie stole the show. I love the addition of the chocolate chips in the pie! A local favorite. Every time we've been here it hits home. Atmosphere is cozy and the perfect place for a romantic date night or a feel good family outing. The staff customer service is second to none being a Northstar sister restaurant and the food and drinks are always top notch. Tonight we had the classic meatloaf and mashed potatoes with Brussels and the catch of the day, seared salmon. Cocktails and wine list are well picked and thought out. The restaurant is always clean and well staffed. And to top it off- as you cash out they leave you with a little, complimentary, salted, dark chocolate chip cookie as a thank you dessert with your check. This place was just okay. The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 was because the food was pretty good but our server Mary W was horrendous. Let me elaborate. TLDR version: The food - while the appetizers were on a little of the pricier side everything tasted really good. I'd skip getting the pimento cheese spread for the biscuits ($4, same price as 3 biscuits). Their burgers and fries tasted good and were cooked to specification but a tad salty. I don't get too upset if food is a little salty. I do however get upset if service is glaringly bad save for the folks who topped off our drinks and Thomas who took our drink orders and told us the daily specials. I get that people have off days but this was the worst I've ever seen. I still tipped 15% but I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon if ever again. I regret coming here for our anniversary and being new to Columbus we should have gone to one of many Cameron Mitchell places instead. Detailed version: We came here for our 1st wedding anniversary based on other yelp reviews so of course we came dressed up. We may have been a tad over-dressed.The decorations inside are nice and cozy. I'd consider the ambiance nice date night place. Half a strike: they were out of pork chops at 7pm. The menu says it's limited so I get it. No big deal so we ask our waitress Mary W for more time. Strike 1: We get our herb biscuits (really good) but are left sitting there for far too long while she stops by the table next to us multiple times before returning to take our order. We ordered the Hollywood burger and it was a little on the salty side but overall pretty good. Fries were really good too. My only other complaint about it was that the bottom bun was much too soggy to where I had to flip the burger upside down to pick it up. Speaking of salty, the table next to us had to get a plate returned because the customer said the dish was "far too salty to even eat"... so whoever is seasoning things could tone down the salt. We also didn't get ketchup even though our server asked if we wanted it.(Of course we want it, what kind of psycho eats fries without ketchup lol) Strike 2: After we finish our meal, which by this time was about an hour from closing, Mary came to give us our check. She doesn't even bother asking if we'd care for dessert. As she comes back for the check she just grabs it and walks away as I was clearly asking her if they do anything for anniversaries but I end up just talking to her back as she walks away. Was it loud inside? No - the place was empty save for a few people at the bar. I had to wait for her to return to ask her again. I mentioned to her that I included a note on my reservation that it was our anniversary and she replied that she has nothing to do with what's on the reservation as that's all managed up front. I get that... I understand that... but she didn't even bother to ask about dessert or even ask if we were celebrating something. As if dressing up didn't give her the hint. It was clear she was just in a hurry to get us out of there. Strike 3: So yes - we got a celebratory dessert. As we sit there eating it, she and some other severs next to the kitchen where our table was located start talking to each other. I over hear her talking trash about a table she served earlier. Paraphrasing, she said "I get that you're having a good time but could you shut the *expletive* up?". I get that people gripe about work but could you do it out of ear shot from customers? Our table is literally in front of you by the kitchen door. So unprofessional. Real sour attitude and demeanor all night. Not warm and welcoming at all. I never go out of my way to leave long reviews but this experience just riled me up enough to do it. /EndRant read more
