What a treat! This restaurant is now among my top ten and I've evolved as a cook for having eaten there 4 times on our recent trip to Glacier National Park. Chris DiMaio, the chef, has a fine sense of creativity combining grains, fruit, protein, and interest, in each dish I enjoyed (quail, salmon w/ morels, whitefish, and harissa-rubbed cauliflower). The staff could not have been more efficient and the service (from the moment we entered until we finished our meal) was exceptional. Lydia, Jacci, Lisa, and the entire team, made dining what it should be - a pleasure. We ate here after a camping trip in the Flathead National Forest. As the old saying goes, good restaurants are crowded restaurants, and this one was no exception. I had the Elk & Pork Bolognese, which was delicious! My wife had the Whitefish, which was also great. Def. a dining gem in Columbia Falls. read more

My husband and I stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night and luckily were able to snag the last available table. I was happy to learn that many of their foods are sourced locally (both meat and veggies). We started off with the zucchini fritters, which had a unique flavor profile. Very fresh and loved the finely diced veggies on top to add to the flavor. I ordered the whitefish entree, which had a light cornbread batter that didn't feel too heavy. The polenta cake was a nice touch and I loved all the fresh veggies. My husband got one of the featured specials which was coho salmon red curry. This was definitely the star of the dinner. The spice level was perfect and not overpowering, honestly one of the best curries I've had. Our server, Austin, was very informative and attentive throughout our dinner. We honestly loved this place so much we went back for dinner on Saturday, and both ordered the specials which were different than before (love that the specials actually rotate). Not great. I had gnocchi in a lemon cream. There was absolutely 0 lemon. large chunks of undercooked onions and a million peas. It wasn't horrible- but again no lemon and a chef that doesn't quite know how to cook. We had a caprice salad and the tomatoes were too thickly cut and super mushy. Sunday Brunch has 'Crab Egg Benedict' which is made with very fresh crab. I made a funny unintended mistake when I asked about Crab Eggs and the very kind waitress said it was Eggs Benedict made with Crabmeat and regular eggs, not Crab eggs! So we had no idea this great restaurant existed. But when we left west glacier, we encountered traffic... like it was completely stopped. My husband and I noticed a man running next to the road. My husband said we had better offer him a ride... he looks distressed. Well he was because his wife was in the accident. We gave him a ride to her and some water and he recommended three forks grille! WOW, thank you Ed! We had a wonderful experience from the minute we entered. The host was excellent and gave us a great table. Skye, our waitress, very quickly discerned that I couldn't eat dairy and gave us a dairy free menu. My husband and I shared an excellent salad and the fish with peaches and a yummy mustard vinaigrette! We visited the Three Forks Grille on our first night in Montana. We came due to the great reviews we read. We were not disappointed! Our seating was upstairs overlooking the bar area and it was quiet and comfortable. Our waitress was superb and friendly. The drinks were a glass of white wine and Bloody Mary which were very good. We had the Three Forks Caesar salad that included Romaine Lettuce, Fresh Herbs, Garlic Croutons, Grilled Lemon, Parmesan, House Smoked Rainbow Trout. Out of this world! Entrees for both of us included the Special Risotto with Whitefish, salmon, and shrimp and the Grilled 10oz. Pork Chop with Bacon Jam, Huckleberry BBQ, Yam Mac & Cheese, Charred Broccolini. The risotto was creamy and the fish was perfectly cooked. The pork chop was grilled to a delicious degree and the BBQ sauce added extra depth. Our dessert was the Chocolate and Hazelnut Flourless Torte that capped off a perfect meal. We went there for dinner with my family after hiking all afternoon. My husband ordered the Pork Chop dish, unfortunately the meat was not fully cooked thoroughly and my husband didn't see the red coloring on the meat because of the dimmed light in the room. I ordered the appetizer: The Quail Quiver and some of the meat wasn't fully cooked either. We mentioned the pork not being cooked to the waiter who talked to the cook or chef, but no feedback from him. No apologie, no reduction on our total bill, no free dessert or anything. We don't expect much, but some kind of acknowledgment would have been nice. The staff was friendly and the place looked really nice. Thé disappointment is in the pork chop. read more

Great food, friendly staff, and amazing ambiance! We stopped in for an after backpack dinner and each meal we got there was incredibly well prepared! The pork belly appetizer and the scallops appetizer were mouthwatering! Stellar taste and great presentation. The berry salad was so refreshing and filling! The steak didn't disappoint either. Just perfect! Amazing food and very friendly service (everyone in this town is incredibly friendly!) Perfectly cooked pork chop for me and just right ribeye steaks for my 2 guys. After some disappointing food at another restaurant that was supposed to be the best restaurant in Kalispell, this was a great treat and well worth the few extra miles. I ordered the sweet potato raviolis and it is the worst thing I have ever eaten. Nowhere does it say in the description that it is not pasta. I was disappointEd to find that the dish was actually two slices of undercooked sweet potato with tomato paste in between, covered with a tangy lemony sauce with walnuts on top. The only good thing were the walnuts. I was too exhausted from a long hiking day to send it back (we had already waited 45 minutes to get a table), but I wish I would have. read more

Three Forks Grill was a complete surprise to us. We've lived in the Valley for 20 years and just happened to give it a try when another place was closed. Oh my word. This place is phenomenal. It's small and cozy. The decor and atmosphere is classy, but not stuffy. The waitstaff gave us the most professional service we have experienced in the Valley--even at restaurants that cost 5 times as much. They were also extremely considerate and caring for our extra needs as we had an infant with us. But then the food. Wow. These were flavor profiles I've never experienced before. The unique way the chef put together even familiar items made them a brand new experience. From appetizers to dessert, this place blew us away. When we were ready to leave, we were bracing ourselves for a large bill. We were again shocked to see how low the price was. Hands down, this was the best fine-dining experience I've had in Montana. I cannot recommend this place enough. My wife and I plan to return as often as we can. This place is a gem. read more

From the Sicilian steak salad that will knock your socks off (mixed lettuces, arugula, pan roasted cherry tomatoes & chilies, red onion & caper relish, crushed croutons & parmesan cheese with a red wine vinaigrette, and slices of delicious steak seasoned to perfection) to the grilled rainbow trout, they all hit home runs. My only wish would have been for the bar to be larger. I realize nothing can be done about that due to the size of the space, but how I wish it was larger, because I'd be there 3 evening a week, minimum, if it was 3FG has brought some much needed class and dinning options to little ole C Falls, and I'm grateful to them for that. Creative dishes, mostly well-executed. The appetizers were superb - I love just about anything with pumpkin, and the pumpkin soup here was one of the best I've ever had - the pear and cacao nibs were nice, subtle touches. The lemon gnocci was excellent as well. My girlfriend loved her polenta entree, which came with a broccoli rabe pesto that I only wish I could make. After reading about it on the menu, I simply had to try the Italian Bibimbap for my entree - the ingredients list sounded like a Chopped basket come to life - "Shrimp, crispy pork belly, fried egg, kale, roasted garlic broth, scallions, organic farro." So if I can channel my inner pompous Chopped judge for a moment, I'd have to say that while the food was fresh and well-cooked, it "really didn't come together." Everything tasted fine on its own, but the ingredients/flavors didn't mix together as a bibimbap should - the broth was a bit too thin (in texture and amount). Still, there were several large shrimp, tasty crispy pork belly and nice, al-dente farro to enjoy, so while I wasn't overwhelmed, I wasn't exactly disappointed - and points for creativity/effort, of course. Setting was lovely and service exemplary. We were too full for dessert, but the options certainly sounded appealing. All-in-all, one of our favorite meals that we had in and around the West Glacier area. read more

Our local friend brought us here and we got her a birthday dinner, definately the best place we ate on our weekend trip, a nice culinary diversion from the grilled and fried foods you find most places. It was a bit of a snafu when we first arrived, they were understaffed for the evening rush, but they explained it nicely while efficiently trying to make everyone happy, not losing their cool. We had a bottle of wine and a large meal for 3 for a very reasonable price compared to a Chicago meal of the same quality! Hush puppies wiht Oregon Shrimp, Roasted Yams, Pepper Jelly, Microgreens, Saba to start, and a hearty plate of Bison chili. We shared a dessert which was big enough for 4 diners. This is one of worst places in Columbia Falls. Was seated in front of the air conditioning current , in the upper section, with a 64 year old guest, going full speed. We asked if it was possible to turn it down, and was told that it would make the serving staff uncomfortable. The "bison" , over priced even for bison, was definitely not bison, or they managed to find the fattest, most tough bison, on the Montana high plains. The rest of the food was mediocre, to say the least, seemed like a montana cafe over trying to be a California bistro. I had two specials: Peach and Huckleberry salad over mixed greens with candied hazelnuts, Montana Goat Cheese, snap peas and Huckleberry Vinaigrette. We shared it. And fought over the remainder peach slices...Then I had the Buttermilk Quail Special- tiny and delicious bird served with spicy aoli and snap peas in mint pesto and Yam hush puppies!!! So good- the flavor and freshness and yum factor way up. My partner's Sage Chicken and Pasta was both flavorful and filling. And we had fresh bread with olive oil and Huckleberry reduction. Sigh. Vegetarians be warned before venturing into this carnivore stronghold! The Three Forks Grille may entice you with a few options on their menu, but once inside, you may meet flesh-eating staff who will let you know they do not take kindly to what they consider to be rabbit food eaters. But when did a real vegetarian ever back down from a challenge? The last time we tried to eat here it was under renovation. So we gave it another try having consistently hearing good things about both dinner and lunches from the deli. We parked out front (side parking available), sized up the deli menu and headed in. I expected a multitude of cured hams, high-end salamis, dried peppers, garlic, and all sorts of traditional Italian fare hanging from the ceiling and packed onto shelves, and a deli case packed with fresh made veg and pasta salads, chicken cutlets, olives, and cheeses. What we found was a sparsely filled ordering area and a rather barren deli display case. We were promptly greeted by the staff and proceeded to order. All lunch orders are put in at the deli counter. It looked like you could find a seat in the large and nice looking eating area and they would bring out your meal, but we had plans to take our sandwiches to the park (Glacier). We asked which of the vegetarian sandwiches the staff might recommend (there are at least 3 options). His response was classic Columbia Falls, which had us chuckling with lighthearted humor all the way home. As he looked down on us from his raised position on the deli floor: "I'm a CARNIVORE". When prompted: "So you have never tried any of the vegetarian sandwiches?" We gazed up at him expectantly, and his response was a simple but stern "NO". Really? Don't restaurants encourage the staff to try everything so they can answer questions like this? Finding this all very amusing we proceeded to put in an order: the vegetarian Italian hero and the vegetarian reuben. The staff set to work immediately. After about 8-10 minutes (no problem waiting for good food) our meals came out, and we headed off to the park. We probably had the sandwiches about an hour and a half later. The vegetarian reuben was made of thinly sliced beets and sauerkraut - it was an unexpected flavor and hard to describe, but it was good. The flavor of the veg hero was also very good except for the 'plain Jane' and boooooring bread it was on. (Why is fresh sourdough bread difficult to find in the valley?!?!) Overall we had a good experience and few laughs along the way. The sandwiches had been made to order, original, creative, and tasted good. The deli has A LOT of great potential and we hope it does well going forward. But if not careful they may alienate a small but influence group of clientele. Vegetarians may find their needs better served by the staff of Coffee Traders. But maybe this will change. We sure hope it does. 3 stars with 5 star potential read more

Came on a Sunday evening around 8 pm. It was busy but we were able to get a table after a 15-20 minutes. Our server was very busy but she made a point to be attentive and check in frequently after a little wait. Ordered a couple of glasses of rose, which were delicious (going to have to find a bottle now). Would recommend the trout salad and the bison burger. Prices were really reasonable--we left feeling stuffed on great food without breaking the bank. If you're looking for someplace quiet, maybe come at a time when it's not so busy. I had hopes for this restaurant but was dissappointed. Lovely setting and great service, interesting menue but what was described was not how it came out. Started with avocado fritters that was really deep fried guacomole, too large, too soft. The fish was described as crusted and served with peach and mustard sauce. The fish was coated with a mushy something, the skin on the fish was soft and gooey, the actualfish was over cooked layed on topof mustard sauce and sliced peaches and a few cold pieces of steamed broccoli and then for some reason there was a buch of salad greens and sliced radishesthrown ontop, no dressing. This was a very expensive dish, $26 and didnt live up to its potential. I think the chef needs to rethink the plating and seasoning of the dishes read more
