I see most people here complaining about the high prices. Interestingly I find them about average for NYC and almost reasonable. $13 for an omelette with home fries and toast doesn't sound far fetched. I've seen diners elsewhere in midtown that charge much more. That being said agree with most other posts, the food here is pretty bad. I can't judge the entire menu based on one omelette dish I had but based on the way it looks and tasted, I can't imagine anything else here is good. If Chipotle Queso is a crime against cheese, this place is a crime against American Diners. My omelette looked over cooked, the cheese looked like it was sliced sandwich cheese, the jalapeños were pickled but so sour and over powering, and the sausage had a just a plain weird taste to it. All together makes me wonder, what did I just eat? I have hope that they must do something good, but good luck finding it. Extensive diner menu typical of diners with what looks like a hundred menu items but really curious what they are good at. Perhaps Greek? Perhaps burgers which they claim are the best in the city. Perhaps sandwiches because well it's hard to mess up a sandwich. Who knows. Anyways nothing is worse than walking out of an establishment and thinking your breakfast was so awful that you were better off eating a $1 breakfast burrito at McDonald's or frying eggs at home yourself. I was happy to have a place to eat outdoors. The service was kind, however, it was hot and no one came to check on me or my drink after the food was delivered, and I really needed some water. The food was subpar: limp oily fries, barely any browned avocado, and tough chicken, and there was plastic wrap inside my panini. I'm guessing it was from the mozzarella. I did bring it up to the server but nothing more was said. I know the high price is normal for the UES location and Covid times, but I would not trust them to serve me food again even for a lower price. read more

Not sure why this place isn't getting more stars. Sure it's overpriced! It's the Eastside!!! What do you expect? I'm sure their rent is off the charts and let's face it- these people can afford to pay... they're all dressed like they just got off of a yacht and are in the mood to slum it a little with a burger, an omelette... or a Greek salad... to see how the simple folk live! We visited from New Zealand for 5 days and stayed at the nearby Carlyle Hotel. The close proximity to our hotel as well as the comparatively cheap prices made this a daily stop for either breakfast or dinner. The food was good and the service was great. While I doubt we will be back this way again once we return home, I am glad that for a time I held the Yelp Duke-ship for this business. read more

My salad was ok, somewhat bland and uneventful but not nessecarily bad, I did expect something better for the $22 price tag but then again. A very good BLT sandwich on the Upper East Side..... as it should be for $10 (but then again, I'm used to Buffalo prices). There was lots of crisp, flavorful bacon, crisp leaf lettuce, and slices of tomato that tasted like August-fresh-from-the-farmer's-market. The whole thing was served on a choice of bread (white, rye, sour dough, multigrain, or wheat) with a perfect sour pickle spear. The service was friendly and the place (including the bathroom.... yep.... that matters!) was very clean and bright. OK, so i will start with the good. We ended up here on a Sunday afternoon. There was no other Eatery open in the vicinity. hubby and i had the steak. It was pretty good, ( I liked the capped mushrooms on top). Bunny loved the waffle fries!! The after meal Latte was pretty good . Fast forward to our third trip. The mashed potatoes seemed like they were made out of a box ( i don't know how i never noticed that before), I could of made better home made mashed potatoes myself. Don't waste your money in this "restaurant". The service was non existent but we thought that the food would be good at least. Big DISAPPOINTMENT, the first appetizer we got looked very cheap for its price and was not even complete. It was supposed to be buffalo wings with celery sticks. However, there were NO celery sticks on the plate. We had to ask the server for them, who looked surprised that it was part of the dish..and he came back with a plate that had barely any celery in it (as you can see on the picture). My childhood psychologist's office was around the corner from Three Guys on Madison, so I am quite familiar with this location since it became an occasional meeting place for my appointments with her when I was having a bad day. Yep, all you need to make a kid happy to see their therapist is a large diet coke and some french fries. Now, having grown wiser and more discriminating with age (and successful therapy :D ), I can instantly say that Three Guys just isn't worth it, even for a diner. The prices are far too high for what the menu offers (yes, the neighborhood affects it, but seriously people!), and the quality really isn't that great. Produce is not fresh and dishes are usually not cooked well. And I don't believe we ever had a pleasant waiter there, but then again I can't blame them for having dour expressions. There are far better establishments in the area, and if you're willing to pay that much for poor quality, why not shell out a little more and have a much more pleasant and memorable meal? You just have to walk over a few streets - in any direction! read more

Before heading the the Guggenheim, my girlfriend and I wanted a quick snack. Walking around aimlessly around the UWS, we stumbled up on Three Guys Restaurant. This place looked like a typical diner-type restaurant, so what could possibly go wrong? The menu was typical of all diners, including your usual sandwiches and omelets. Simply put, the food here was pretty underwhelming. The nachos that we ordered were disgusting. The tortilla chips were burnt and had a char taste, and the cheese was obviously put through a microwave. In addition, it didn't help that the chicken was dry. My tuna melt was typical, but that's not saying much since tuna melt making isn't really rocket science. The redeeming factor here was that the waiter noticed that the nachos were just unacceptable and took it off the bill. Sorry Three Guys, this guy won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Hubby & I were hungry, cold & tired of walking (went to Mount Sinai) server name was Tameez, hubby order the steak & I got the chicken soulvaski. My food had no taste, chicken breast was dried out. Tazaki sauce had no flavor and my greek salad; well nothing special about it. As for the steak, well what do you really expect a steak to taste like from a diner? I stopped by for lunch one day as I arrived a bit early for a salon appointment I had around the corner. It looked quaint and inviting from the outside, much more so than many of the other eateries in this area of town so decided to give it a shot. I was starving and there didn't appear to be much to choose from. This place is SUPER expensive. Don't get me wrong, it sits on Manhattans Upper East side but wow, I never realized a soup and sandwich at what appears to be a local diner could cost more than 20 bucks! On the plus side, the service was fast, and they do have a ton to choose from on the menu. I had an egg salad sandwich and the matzo ball soup, both were good, but not worth the price paid. The pickle however, tasted like crap! Rotten almost! If you find yourself starving on the Upper East side, unless you have deep pockets, or dont mind eating from a street vendor, get outta this area of town pronto. Nothing, not even a sandwich at a local deli is affordable or reasonable for that matter. Hop in a cab to Hells Kitchen area of NYC...much more affordable and the food is fantastic! read more

This has become a regular spot for my family on a weekend day, and often for my wife and daughter with friends during the week -- the menu just has everything, the location is great (quiet, with other distractions nearby when you are through with your meal), though it is not cheap, for what is essentially a diner. Still, we love the simple food, the service, how kid friendly it is, and that so many of our friends are often there. Can't go wrong picks? Grilled cheeses, burgers, omelets, and milkshakes. I never go with the elaborate salads, but I know multiple people who swear by them! read more

Was so charmed by how friendly the staff was, I decided to order the blackened salmon sandwich, too. It was friggin' delicious. And I really can't say enough about how sweet and attentive the staff was. AND CLEAN. Like old-school, compulsive clean. Which I really appreciate. I really want to like this place. It is ideally convenient - almost directly across the street from my place, massive diner menu, kid friendly, ideal, one would think, for breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately, the food is subpar, at best. I have eaten here numerous times, but out of lack of will to venture elsewhere - a rainy day, kids in tow, or urgent starvation overruling my brain's message - "keep walking....keep walking...." Yes, I find myself seated at 3 Guys today. I know what is coming. But I'll take this bullet, for the sake of my Yelp review, if nothing else. Well, it is before noon, but not by much. I haven't eaten yet, so what can they not possibly screw up? I know. oatmeal! With berries. Easy. Well, the oatmeal hit the table (literally - the busy waiter pretty much dropped the bowl in front of me.) you know those movies, when some poor slob is imprisoned in a Turkish dungeon, and a bowl of gruel is slid under the cell door....? He weakly reaches out, slides it close, tries to wave away the flies, slowly raises one bite to his mouth, gums at the bland, horribly overcooked, shapeless, formless, nutrition-less sludge topped with unwashed, flavorless, underripe berries...and slaps the whole mess across the cell in disgust and despair? Well, I can happily report that there were no flies on my oatmeal. I also acknowledge that prison gruel probably has no bland berries to reject, and I did not need to fling the bowl across the room as the waiter happily removed it, with a somewhat apologetic mention that it had been cooked numerous hours earlier. Like maybe 6 or so. Honestly, gross. I then revisited the menu, and ordered an omelette. Can't screw that up, right? Well, I don't know yet, because since I ordered it, I have chatted with the people at the next table, composed a few emails, searched for some info online, opened Yelp, composed this entire review, and I'm still without the omelette. It's been 20 minutes if it's been a second. At this point, my mistake of having braved 3 guys again has been made perfectly clear. I can only blame myself. I now have to decide - ask again for the omelette, knowing it will be at best, average, but possibly lousy? Or cut my losses. Waiter - check please! ...the check should, of course, be empty, like my stomach..... One star, basically, but I award two as I can, in an emergency, feed the kids grilled cheese sandwiches here on a rainy day, and because I reserve one star reviews for places that are beyond the pale. read more
