poached version $16.95 definitely needs the sauce to add flavor, and both sauces are still bomb, I would buy them to use as a marinade or dipping sauce if they bottled these. The roasted chicken $16.95 is good on its own but amazing with the sauce. Sour, savory, a tad spicy, it adds that next level punch. The side salad was fresh. If I had one comment it's been that been portion sizes seem to be a little smaller in my recent orders than a few years ago, maybe it just happens to be the orders I got though also maybe due to shrinkflation. They continue to be one of my go-to take out options in the area and I'll be back!

Favorite rice: the ginger rice (although the sticky rice was also very good). And I liked the tamarind dipping sauce best too. But honestly you can't go wrong with any selection here.

Probably one of the best fried chicken sandwich and fries in the city! It is a hidden gem in midtown west and must try. The Thai iced tea and zag fries are delicious too. Great staff and clean dining area!

it also went well with the zab chicken. The zab seasoning was spicy, sweet and sour which was an interesting flavor profile. It worked though because if I come back, I'd definitely get this again and maybe even the zab fries. The salad and the soup was more of an afterthought. The dipping sauce this came with was quite spicy. I'd pick the zab fried chicken over the regular fried chicken. Since this place is so small, I don't think there's a bathroom for customers (not sure, didn't ask). When you get the receipt, they also give you a guava candy which is a nice touch. They do seem to prefer tips in cash.

A small store front with lots of hospitality and yummy options. Zab fried chicken, 5/5: so good! The seasoning is perfect and goes well with chicken rice. Fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned Hainan chicken, 4/5: not the best I've had, but will definitely satisfy any hainese chicken craving would recommend!

Three Roosters is such a hole-in-the-wall place. It's a small space that mostly does takeout, but there's some seating inside if you want to do a sit-down dinner. I ordered the Zab Fried Chicken and my friend ordered the Poached Chicken. Both were different but delicious in their own ways. The Zab Fried Chicken was the perfect balance of crunchy and flavorful, and the Poached Chicken tasted comforting and clean. Service was friendly too. Overall a great experience.

Space is small but does not feel cluttered. The background Thai music (pop) fit the ambiance just fine. Service was friendly and engaging. We had the poached chicken and it is about as great as chicken can be in the U.S. I say that as the flavor and preparation is top notch. The only way to improve is to be in Asia and get true free range chicken, where the meat is more muscular.

Came here for a quick lunch with my sister before a show on a Sunday at around 1:30. It's a small restaurant - it was us and one large group, and that was all the seating they had. Neither of us were super hungry, so we ordered the fried chicken and zab seasoned fries to share. The fried chicken comes with cucumber, ginger rice, sweet chili sauce, and a little bowl of chicken broth. The chicken was good - it was perfectly fried. The fries were nice and crispy. The zab seasoning has hints of lime - it almost reminded me of froot loops so I'm not sure how I felt about that. I also tried the Thai iced tea with lime juice. It was refreshing, and it was a nice change from the regular Thai milk tea. I like that there aren't a lot of menu items - that's usually a good sign because it means they're focused on making a handful of dishes and making them good. I wouldn't mind coming back to try the grilled or poached chicken.

I placed a takeout order. Friendly service. I wasn't the biggest fan of the seasoning - it is an Asian spiced chicken sandwich and fries which I really like the idea of. Ultimately for me it wasn't my favorite but cool concept and I could see how others would like it

If you want to gave good soul food without any fuss, just go here. It's perfectly done. The rice is magical, do flavourful so is the chicken

4.5/5 Zab Fried Chicken - a must order! The chicken is fried super crispy and their spice blend with the bright citrusty zing is so good! The sweet spicy tamarind sauce pairs perfectly. Sticky rice came prepackaged, and had some dry chunks in it. 3.5/5 Poached Chicken -- the chicken itself was quite dry and bland, but the sauce was great with it! Wished the ginger rice had a bit more flavor. I was hoping it would be more reminiscent of Hainanese style chicken being more moist and flavorful. 4/5 Thai Ice Tea -- very solid and authentic!

Got the Zab chicken sandwich and Zab basic for $12-$14 each. Very good deal! The fries were amazing, perfectly fried and seasoned. The best part was definitely the Zab seasoning, it was so unique and flavorful I couldn't get enough. The chicken was surprisingly disappointing though - a bit overcooked as it was way too crunchy and chewy. Didn't really get that chicken flavor or consistency, just a mouth of hard crunchy fried crust. Overall the fries and the meal price saved the day. Oh and did you see the super cute duck plate for the sauce? Definitely unique addition. However the seating was not the most comfortable because all the cushioning are peeled off the seats. Also no restroom was a surprise.

Beautiful in its simplicity. Three Roosters is on a busy street with plenty of other restaurants, but it's nice to walk into a smaller restaurant space such as Three Roosters. Walking in, the lighting is very bright and it feels like a very clean space. The menu isn't the largest so it makes it easy to decide what to order. We decided to try a variety of dishes from poached chicken plates to their fried chicken. All of their food was incredibly delicious - the rice was such a plus! NYC prices are definitely pricy so we were glad that the portions were very filling. The sauces that came with foods were very flavorful as well. FYI - you can get any drink for free with Yelp check-in!

Yum - I love Hainese style poached chicken and Three Roosters does it right! I was in the area looking for delicious and fresh food, and Three Roosters popped up as a highly rated place that satisfies those requirements! I went on a Sunday around 3pm and had no wait to get seated. The ambiance of the restaurant is casual dining and the server will seat you at a table. Note that there are limited tables, and the restaurant can seat probably 15-20 people maximum at a time. Service is fast, I got my drink and food about 10 minutes after I ordered, though I can see it taking a bit longer when it is busier. Now, onto the food - the poached chicken was absolutely delicious! For $16 you get a good amount of chicken that is light, a delicious ginger rice that pleasantly fragrant, and light soup that has good chicken flavor and pleasing umami from aromatics. The soy bean and ginger sauce is very salty on it's own, but when added to the chicken and rice, it's scrumptious. Interchanging with the soup and cucumber as palate cleansers, you get a complete entree that you can cycle through. You also get some chili and garlic additions, but I would note that it is pretty spicy, so use at your discretion. If I am in the area near Three Roosters, I would 100% revisit to try their fried or grilled chicken plates. I think that this restaurant does the complete dish very well for the price - you can get a refreshing drink and an entree in a cozy atmosphere for $20!

One of my favorite local neighborhood eats. Seriously out of this world yet so incredibly simple. Definitely can taste the quality in the food. I typically will come here at least 2-3 times a month. Its the perfect lunch or dinner and it doesnt leave you feeling heavy. The poached chicken is so delicious and juicy. The fries are crispy and had a great kick to it. Theyre covid safe which is really cool. And interior is nice and simple. The ginger rice has a great texture and compliments the poached chicken well. 11//10 would recommend coming here! read more

Authentic Thai dish. Remind me of the dish that I grew up in Thailand. Very moist chicken. I tired all of the dishes. My favorite are the grilled and poached chicken. The dark meat is more moist and can be reheat and still good. The white meat should eat right way. Very good service too. read more

Stopped by Three Roosters today for lunch and was quickly served a delicious Thai fried chicken with sticky rice. Decent flavor, good portion, nice warm soup on the side. The menu is tiny (seems like they only serve a few variations on one dish?) but if you're in the mood for a quick Thai-style fried chicken then this is probably the best place for it. read more

The menu is limited (chicken, chicken and more chicken) but the quality was very good and the service was prompt and friendly. It appeared that the majority of the kitchen's output was food for delivery and there was room inside for about a dozen people. Dinner for two was under 40 dollars, which for NYC is very reasonable. read more

4 stars, because I only tried a pouched chicken dish through 'TGTG(too good to go).' A TGTG dish is basically leftover food for the day, but it was quite impressive! Just only for the ginger rice, I'd love to visit again. So refreshing, fragrant, and flavorful. I tried a little piece of chicken, which was cooked well. Like other people said, this restaurant serves decent food. Good value and polite staffs. The ginger rice & sauce was really amazing! Hope they have a few more vegetarian options other than fries. read more

I have the fried chicken with the ginger rice. The flavoring was excellent. Chicken was tender with great crispiness. Definitely a repeat take place. The food did arrive a little cold. But that was not the fourth of the restaurant. The driver left it outside my door and didn't let me know. Grrrrr!!!! read more

If you are looking for a reasonably priced and filling meal, please check this place out. I've been looking at this restaurant for a while and telling myself that I need to try it, and today I finally did. The ZAB fried chicken is incredible. It's perfectly cooked and has so much of its unique flavor. I would also recommend the perfectly cooked ZAB fries. The satay was very tender and came with two dipping options AND toast. It's not something I usually notice, but the rice was really good too. It was perfectly sticky and chewy. (A great contrast with the crispy fried chicken.) And all of this came at a very affordable price with the meals costing less than $13. I'll be back to try more! read more

It's pretty small when walking in. But the food was exceptionally delicious. The ginger rice is a must try and all the sauces were also just amazing. As a vegan, I was hankering for chicken when looking for places for lunch nearby, but I poo-pooed the idea and continued searching for Thai restaurants with vegetarian or vegan choices. I found Three Roosters, my second choice instead, thinking it was a full Thai restaurant. Walked a mile to get there in NY from Midtown to Hell's Kitchen, unaware that it was not a full Thai restaurant until I sat down andWith only looked at the menu. Only seven tables, this place only cooks chicken. The choices are fried, grilled or boiled with rice and accompanying sauce. I gave in and choose the grilled chicken with Ginger sauce. I've been searching for a good chicken rice place ever since I've had it in Singapore. Most places just don't seem to get every aspect of this intricate dish right. Three Roosters is as close as you will get to the Singaporean national dish of chicken rice. Their Zabb chicken is especially amazing if you want to kick it up a notch and try something different. Do yourself a favor and try it with the tamarind sauce which is to die for. Even the side dishes that come with the chicken are awesome.The chicken broth soup is flavorful yet very simple and so is the salad with the tamarind dressing. read more

The poached chicken set is so good and comforting that I'm at a point where I'm getting it for takeout multiple times a week. It's the only thing I've ever ordered from the menu. The sauce and ginger rice is amazing, I could eat it by itself. The chicken is moist and tender. I eat the soup simultaneously, it compliments everything perfectly. (Pro tip: put in some hot sauce, I personally use El Yucateco) read more

Established in 2020.

After observing Thai restaurants and noticing their repetitive menus, we were aware that Thai food was so much more than just Pad Thai and Curry. As a ubiquitous and versatile ingredient, we wanted to introduce an innovative chicken dish that was both distinctive and faithful to the Thai background. It's a new way of appreciating chicken with a Thai style that's culturally refreshing and ground-breaking.

Three roosters is a solid little fusion restaurant. Their dishes revolve around their thai chicken served up in a few different ways including poached, fried, and grilled. We of course opted for the fried chicken as well as a few Zab fries for the table. Dubious nomeclature aside, they were fairly normal fries with an absolutely delicious seasoning and sauce, Id highly recommend ordering these to share! My platter of soup, fried dark meat, and sticky rice was delicious. If i had to nitpick the dark meat seemed almost more fried particulare than tender juicy meat, but it was yummy none the less. The soup was a welcome accompaniment in the cold weather, especially with my sticky rice. This appears to be a local family business and their service despite the many people was excellent. I was in town for work for a week, and I am so glad they opened their door when I was there because the food is soooo good. The grilled chicken and their tamarind sauce taste exactly like food from Thailand. It was so good that I ordered one to go for my dinner at my hotel.
