Fun neighborhood crowd. Ordered 2 shots and 2 draft beers, $30 tab $6 tip. Knocked a beer over handing the signed receipt back to the bartender - apologized and cleaned it up with nearby napkins. Instead of replacing it, the bartender shrugged and said, "nope, shit happens." While she's not wrong, that isn't the community vibe I'm looking for. read more

First time in Pacific Beach, and I stumbled into this establishment in a post-COVID era. Hanging from the ceilings were plastic sheets to keep groups apart from each other and encourage social distancing. Felt like I was in a lab at a certain point. Still, great service and reasonable prices, but I can tell this place goes off with dancing and a DJ. Unfortunately, we were unable to experience that magnitude of SEND! Came here presidents day weekend on a Saturday. No cover charge! A definite plus! It was raining pretty hard so it was nice we got in so quickly. The night started out just right.... several drinks and I had my friends there. This place is definitely a lounge...a place where you start the night or end it if you want something low key- to each their own.... there is a "dance" floor, small, intimate, ; one or two dancing, but the music was good! Umm if you don't want to stand out don't wear anything that has color other than black! Seriously I felt weird wearing a pink shirt only because it was a bit dark inside. Oh well it's my 25th I didn't care! But after being there for about a hour or so we left to a place a bit more upbeat, which was the night I wanted. And a quick note on service it was good. I didn't have any complaints as a first timer at this establishment. the place really isn't my forte but as a business it wasn't too shabby. I dislike this bar because they serve their beers in plastic glasses. UGH! However, I give them 3 stars because beers were pretty cheap, cocktails were strong, there was a good DJ, and my friends and I danced for at least 2 hours. For 2 days and 2 nights....we enjoyed the great restaurants and bars here... Our last night here...we walked 2 blocks away from our hotel at the beach... To a local bar called "Thrusters".... Ummmm....yep...." THRUSTERS " First of all...NO!...THRUSTERS is not a strip club..... Anyway...... we have been to bars from Maine to Spokane..... .We've seen camels do it in the marketplace..... But we have NEVER been to no place like this!! Within 20 minutes....this very cool hippie looking guy with a cool ass beard ...stops by.... Just being cool and shit... So I ask the bartender to get him a drink on us.... And the ( btw AMAZINGLY COOLIO BARTENDER...KEVIN!)... Says to me.... " I'll get him drink.....but....do you guys know that the very coolio bearded guy is the owner?".... And the the COOLIO bearded..cool dude...says.."Yep! KEVIN is correct.." " I AM VINNIE...THE OWNER!" And I really really really like A GD SHOT RIGHT NOW!" SO ...there it is.... Btw...before I go...... If you are looking for a fancy, upscale bar then this isn't the place for you. But if you are looking for a fun, friendly local "dive bar", then Thrusters is your place. I was stoked to have discovered this bar recently, as it seems to be the only Seahawks bar in SD during football season. The service was consistently slow, and often with unwarranted attitude (and watch them actually pour your beer, cuz they're known to pour the wrong one), but again, only Seahawks bar in town, so what can you do? Well today, I was essentially accused by the bartender girl of trying to steal a beer from them. How would I possibly do that, you ask? She got confused somehow, and thought that I had ordered and received a beer from her without paying, so when I request a second beer, she tries to charge me for two. Uh, no, not playing that, you've somehow gotten things mixed up here. So then she stares at me like *I'm the a-hole, and is all "whatever, I don't care." Seriously. Then I look around around and (surprise!) I'm the only non-white person in the place. Coincidence? Sure, why not... will I ever be back in this place? Oh, hell no. There are way too many other options in PB for a dive like Thrusters to get away with crap like this. Pay attention to these reviews, people... when a place has a red neon sign above the bar that reads "FUCK YELP" that should tell you all you need to know about them. I had service from Ciara...A few friends warned me about her so I knew it was going to be downhill from the moment I had walked in and seen my friends..........it had only been 2 minutes...... I proceed to order a blended Margarita, because that's how I test every bar. Drink arrives on the rocks, I bring this to her attention and without batting an eye she let's me know the blender is broken and that's the best I can get..... Ok thrusters, I see you. After three sips I asked for another, because it was light to begin with. She made eye contact and purposefully walked by me.....oh helllllll no. While I'm waiting for my drink, I notice the music was a bit old school so I asked if she could put something from this century on, perhaps some EDM type music. She looks at me, makes no comment and then purposefully makes a point to flirt with everyone in the bar while giving me the shaft. It's almost like she knew I was coming. I had to hit the head and grab my cool. I come back and I have a cup of ice sitting next to my drink that hasn't been refilled. At this point I'm done. I ask her to close me out. My tab comes and it's $34. Are you kidding me? Two drinks?! I tell her, respectfully, I think it's wrong. She rolls her eyes and refers back to the receipt right in front on me. She claimed I asked her to "hook it up" and that she assumed I wanted doubles. Who just assumes that?? Wooooosssssaaaaa! I get my cool and give her my card, leave my ice (so gracious of you, Ciara) and leave as quickly as possible. As I was walking out she proceeded to ring the bell at the bar and told me to watch out for the cars on Mission Blvd.....ummmm? This was all on a Thursday around 5pm. I was at this bar for about an hour and they were saying "last call" at about 1:30am. I stepped outside to wait for my Uber, but the rates were high so my friends and I decided to wait until the prices dropped. During this time, I wanted to re-enter and use the restroom, but the so called "Ian" who was the bouncer, said to me, "I WILL DROP KICK YOU IF YOU TAKE ANOTHER STEP FORWARD".. I can not believe how disrespectful he was and how I was treated. I'm absolutely disgusted with this comment. I can not believe what a disgrace an individual can be to one another. Normally I hate Pacific Beach. I'm a 'dress up and go downtown' kinda guy. My girlfriend Apryl had friends in town from St. Louis and they landed on Tuesday night wanting to head out to Pacific Beach for some cheap drinks and Marine love. We hit up Moondoggies first... Super lame. This is what's going on Tuesday nights while I'm at home eating pasta and watching a Netflix? On to Thrusters. We got there around 12am... No line and the bouncer was pretty nice, for a bouncer that is. Once inside, I discovered that it was actually very small despite having one wall covered in mirrors. If PB wanted to open a museum of douchebaggery, this is it. This place is either stone cold empty or PACKED. The bartenders are the worst in PB and that is saying something. The drinks are overpriced. Last and best of all, say you happen to be not drinking, like I was last night. Maybe you have to work or are not feeling well or just don't want to risk a DUI. Walking to the beach we saw a sidewalk sign proclaiming $3 shots of Jameson. I'm a whiskey lover at heart so I'd be loath to pass that by. In we went and were met by a patron's sweet, super chill dog; I took this as an indication that Thrusters is a dog friendly lounge, as most seaside establishments tend to be in SoCal. Yes! We were greeted by the bartender who served us up the drinks lightning fast and wrapped up our tab within a matter of minutes. The vibe of the place was really laid back and it seems like a place where I would like to go to spend some time unwinding, but they also proved that they could provide swift in and out service as well. Bonus!! Bartender had a great attitude! Fast, friendly, and jovial. Winning combination. I will most assuredly be coming back when in the area. read more

A serious hole-in-the-wall, not in the sense that it's ghetto, but literally tucked away on Mission, you barely even see it, unless you are looking for it specifically. Good for us we were, #2 on pub crawl! I was very pleasantly surprised by Thrusters, especially considering the name (sounds sketch). The are a lot of good brews on tap; Blue Moon, Hoegaarden, Moose Drool, etc. All for like $3, which is awesome. Wish we could have stayed longer, especially because the bartender was really hot, but alas, we were on a mission. Oh, and apparently Thrusters is a "green" establishment. read more

The bar, I think, is three-feet wide by forty-feet long. This is dive...a skinny dive that forces you to rub your tits up on some a-hole to get to the bar, but they do have a dance floor. The hot chick to d-bag ratio is in the d-bag's favor fo' sho' (I mean we are in pb...d-bag-central), as I've only ever been there when the girls and I decided to get dolled up...(I mean, we do clean up well), go to dinner and wind up wino drunk and wanting to dance, dance, dance. SEA! HAWKS! I've only been here on gameday so I can't speak for the nightlife aspect of this bar. On Seahawks Sundays this is THE PLACE to be if you can't make it to the CLINK. I went to 3 games here this season (Patriots, Jets, Redskins) and had a blast. As a season ticket holder for 11 seasons now this is as close to Seattle as you can get. You'd be hard pressed to find a bar with ONLY Seahawks fans even in Seattle. The 12 flag is proudly displayed on the street front and they have drink specials (weak ones though...) Food comes from next door, but isn't too spendy and tastes good. If you're a Hawks fan you MUST to come here on Sundays. There aren't a ton of seats however and it does get pretty busy so go early to grab a booth or seat at the bar. But all ~15 Tv's and the sound is dedicated to the Seahawks. I can't believe I've lived near this bar for over 2 years and this was my first time making it in! The setup is like a long hallway and there are games to play towards the back (ski-ball, corn hole, video games). I was most pleasantly surprised to find that they accepted credit cards. Owned by the same guys as the Sycamore Den, this bar also has the 70's vibe down. I asked the bartender and it sounds like the decor is the same decor that came with the bar when they bought it. The bathrooms are updated and don't really go with the rest of the decor, but I was grateful for that because I was expecting something a lot more run down and dirty. There is even a beautiful rock mosaic in the ladies bathroom. Drinks are very reasonable and the vibe is laid back during the day, though it gets a little more rowdy as the night goes on. Skip the photobooth on the way out. The camera is broken and is faced at an awkward angle so that only someone on the right side of the booth would be in the photo. read more
