Pretty fun and interesting bar/restaurant! A friend and I came here cause we were staying at a nearby hotel. The food was just ok from what I remember, but also for a bar it wasn't bad! It was pretty empty when we went which we were disappointed about but maybe it was an off day.

Finding a tiki bar on the Freedom Trail could've changed American history forever had it existed back in 1776. If Paul Revere stopped by for a Pina Colada, the colonists could've lost the war, and we'd be singing the Sex Pistols' "God Save the Queen" as our national anthem today. Jamie W. found it on the Yelp app when we started to drift after walking through Quincy Market. I guess we were early because no one else was in the bar at 2:30 in the afternoon. Perhaps Bostonians delay their tiki cocktail consumption to the evening after they have their chowdah and fill their muskets. It was a pretty evocative place, but the chilly weather outside prevented us from daydreaming about being at the Hula Bar on Waikiki. We were also a bit surprised that the signature cocktail selection was limited. Jamie was in the mood for the $15 Mai Tai because it was Thomas Jefferson's favorite tiki cocktail selection. OK, I made that up, but it seems reasonable, doesn't it? It's made with Planteray Rum 3 Stars Rum, Worthy Park 109 Dark Rum, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, lime juice, and orgeat syrup. The specialty rums made this a revolutionary concoction. Following Patrick Henry's lead ("Give me liberty or give me death!"), I went with the $16 Painkiller. It consisted of Plantation Original Dark Rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, and cream of coconut, a tropically tantalizing classic executed well enough to let Patrick forego liberty for another round (photo: https://yelp.to/o1Dox13tQl). Beyond that, twangy ukulele music might've helped along with a fife and drum. But it was back to the Freedom Trail for us because we have come appreciate living in the land of the free and the home of the tiki idol. Here on a Boston visit and eating at a Tiki bar. Place was not busy at all. Ordered a Mai Tai and a French Part Punch. Drinks were great. Mai Tai was balanced and strong. Same with the FPP. Had coconut shrimp and is was a good start with the Mango salsa. We split the fish Tacos. Again very good. Service was good. Come try them out as we enjoyed the service.

The happy hour menu is amazing! I went on a Wednesday and had $1 oysters and $1 wings! You cannot really beat that. I went around 5pm and it was pretty empty but it got more crowded after a few hours. The waiter was very attentive and always making sure we have everything we need. The drinks were amazing! I didn't taste the alcohol but I felt it afterwards.

What an adorable tiki bar! We were walking by on a Monday night and noticed the $1 ouster sign outside, we figured this was going to be a really good night or a really bad night. Luckily, it was a great night! We order two dozen oysters which were phenomenal! I wish I had another stomach so I could have had more. We also orders the fish tacos. I didn't love the tortillas, and the sauce was okay, but the fish was light and well cooked, not sure if I'd order them again, I probably should have just ordered another dozen oysters! My husband and I shared a pineapple drink for two. I loved it, but it was a little too sweet for him. So Norte for me! It was yummy! I was surprised this place was so empty, it's a shame. The tiki decor is kitschy and cute, the bartender/waitress was great, and the food and drink were awesome! It's a hidden gem. I would love to visit when we're in Boston again!

Food was mid. The lobster roll was okay. The empanada was juicy but flavorless, pot stickers were mushy, crab rangoon had too much cream cheese. The tres leches cake was yummy, but the nutella cake was sour. Servers were nice, but not the best at clearing plates off our table. Vibes were immaculate, a great place to catch up with a group of friends.

Overpriced, less than mediocre cocktails and average food with slow service. Pretty much what you'd expect for a touristy spot. Kind of grimy vibe. Edit: in response to the business owner review: 1. No, we did not try to find a manager to complain to about our waiter, who we could barely find. Maybe make your staff more available. 2. Your cocktails are disgusting, I was being nice, to begin with. No one should drink this, and certainly not overpay for all the ice. 3. Your place is grimy. Deny all you like, that's just what it is and looks like. TLDR: Don't come here.

We were staying at the Hyatt Centric hotel nearby and decided to eat lunch at this restaurant because it was only a five minute walk from our hotel. The service was a little slow, but the food looked and tasted good. Our party of six had the chicken rice bowl, the shrimp rice bowl, the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, the wedge salad with sirloin tips, the chopped salad with grilled shrimp and a cheeseburger. The portion sizes were on the larger side. Prices were around 20 dollars on average.

Came here for a birthday celebration. The food was alright but the drinks were great! Go for the drinks!! They feature a fun selection of cocktails. Service was good, the chefs and bartenders were friendly. Music and ambience were good and they turn down the lights at around 9pm. Honestly tiki rock is such a fun place! They have good music and fun vibes! I ordered a pina colada and the bartender who made it for me was super sweet even though there was such a long line of people wait for their drinks! The pina colada was one of the best ones I've tried around the area! My only qualm was that it was a little sweeter than I would have preferred (and I love my drinks sweet!) but besides that, absolutely delish!

Stop in here last night and had a delicious appetizer and poke bowl for dinner served with a delicious dirty vodka martini. For the app we ordered the goat cheese spinach and artichoke dip. For dinner I did the raw salmon poke bowl. Atmosphere was nice and the staff was very kind. Would be happy to go back

I really liked the food and drinks here. Would have been a 5 if not a small iffy experience with the staff. Looking at the photos, If you went - ooo I wanna order the rum barrel, make sure to ask it in the pineapple. Cos it's extra 3$ for that. When we asked the waitress for the pineapple, she was quite rude about it and made sure to put very little powder so we couldn't enjoy the sparks for more than a second, god knows why‍ Put us in a bad mood but the rest of food made up for it. Fun vibe inside, but food isn't very good. Definitely more of a place to come for drinks! I liked what I had but my four friends weren't happy with their orders. They do have fun drinks like this cocktail that comes in a flamingo, and they light it on fire! Otherwise, I think it's a bit overrated, I don't think I would choose it myself. read more

This place is an amazing place to get good food and great service. Our waitress and server Megan and Andrea was very nice and made sure we received our orders quickly and explained other options which we then try. The Oasis are very fresh and their truffle fries are amazing. You must come here to try one of their flaming pineapple drinks can't go wrong with any. Will definitely come back especially because of our servers which made us feel very warm and welcoming! read more

Came here for happy hour on a Thursday and was relatively packed. I came because of the $1 oysters that they had, but unfortunately some of them were kind of slimy and weren't super great. The ahi tacos were super tasty though. I would definitely recommend it if you come here. Terriyaki wings were pretty yummy and well fried. The fish tacos on the regular menu were FIRE! They no longer serve sushi which was the main reason I stopped by. The cocktails are still there thankfully, they still serve food we tried the crab Rangoon and coconut shrimp both were not great. The crab Rangoon was very fishy tasting, served with a weird in-house sweet chili sauce. The coconut shrimp was fried hard also serve with the in-house sauce. Overall I'd say sit at the bar the music is great and the drinks are strong just skip the food. read more

This place was probably one of the worst places I've ever tried in Boston service was even bad took them about 20 min just to take our order we had to stop one of the waiters that wasn't even ours to help assist us. Food was good at all the guac tasted like store brought guac I would never recommend this place to anybody . Please don't waste your time coming here drinks weren't even good . read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. We had a reservation for a party of 9 and was made to wait for 30 minutes before we were seated. The hostess didn't even communicate with us, we were being directed by the damn security of the place. We didn't get served for another 15 minutes after we were seated. We ordered Brussels sprouts that tasted expired. Mashed potatoes tasted like KFC's (fake and grainy). All of our fried food was literally soggy and wet. Spinach dip was really salty. The drinks are extremely sweet and overpriced. They also took our flamingo bowl before we were even finished with it. The waitress never checked on us after initially taking our order. The only good thing about this place is the music but it's so loud that you can't hear anything. Please do yourself a favor and do NOT come here! read more

We had a fantastic experience here! The drinks were very delicious and J.T. the bartender was very skilled at his craft. If you like a sweeter drink, get the Big Papi, it had mango and banana flavors. If you like herbaceous drinks get the Jasmine Temple. I also enjoyed the Sharkbait for a fun tequila cocktail. They even do cool shots where they use dry ice for effect. J.T. somehow made us a shot that tasted like a strawberry smoothie. Thanks for the fun time! read more

Came here for a celebration during the day and it had such a fun atmosphere! We ordered a round of drinks and I have to say, the Saturn was absolutely phenomenal. The rum barrels were also a lot of fun. In terms of the food, we tried a range of things. We got the steak and chicken skewers, the spring rolls, the edamame, and a pork bun for appetizers. I had a poke bowl. The edamame was phenomenal and the chicken was tasty but the spring rolls were very plain. My poke bowl tasted good but there was very little of it--the tuna and seaweed salad sat on a gigantic pile of rice so the ratio was 1:5. Things tasted good but I didn't think the meal was worth the cost. Come for the drinks; not the food! read more

Okay, let me first start off by saying the service was AMAZING! It's was some of the best service I have received in a very long time. The drinks were also really good. So, if you are just after some drinks, this place is really good! HOWEVER-the food was just average. The menu is a bit of a strange mix of Mexican/Chinese/New England cuisine. Like potstickers meet lobster roll meet guacamole...it was all weird when put together. It was also loaded with lots of fried options. The menu needs a revamp with some fresh items or at least give it a Polynesian spin. Bottom line-drinks and service are amazing! Food needs work! read more

Came here on a Saturday at 12 noon, pretty cool ambience, appreciated the theme, makes you feel like you're on an island escape. Even at 12 noon, some patrons were just coming in with us. Ordered pork bun off the starter menu, goal was simply to have an appetizer to compliment the alcohol as we had reservations somewhere else. On my 30 plus years on this earth, I have not had a pork bun as good as the one served here. Mindblowingly amazing...not a real adjective but, it was succulent, flavorful and just well made. I wish there was more than one on the plate. I had the Mai tai, strong, well crafted cocktail. As for the cocktail with the long name, Scrumpdiliocous...also tried it..refreshing but was watered down the by the glacier of ice chunks, probably order it with less ice to appreciate the actual flavor. Overall I can't fairly give this place 5 stars without fully indulging in their menu However, just based on the pork bun, I dont doubt the awesomeness of their food. I was really excited to try Tiki Rock, but our vibe was killed before we were even sat. The bouncer at the front was being really nit-picky about my friends passport, when the picture obviously looked like her. We were then seated at a table that was missing a window or something, so it got kind of cold. The drinks were okay, but at least they were pretty! I ordered the fish tacos and they were very filling. I was actually surprised by how good they were. I just don't like how some parts of the fish were cut a lot smaller than the rest. On the other hand, our server was really nice and answered all our questions thoroughly. read more

I can't say enough about Tiki Rock. As a lifelong Boston resident, I still remember when it was "The Place" back in the day. Tiki Rock has hit the jackpot in terms of both a welcoming and diverse atmosphere with amazing food and drinks. Their wings are phenomenal and make sure to have one of Morgan's signature cocktails. Table was filthy when we were seated - a tad concerning during Covid. That rotting avocado was on the sweet and sour chicken entree - big yikes. Fried fish tacos were lacking the spicy aioli and the tortillas were almost damp that the whole taco fell apart when I picked it up. Had such high hopes for this spot as it's a great spot for fun drinks, but definitely not worth the price when it comes to food! read more

We had drinks, apps and then dinner. We were a party of 4 and were there for just under 2 hours when the hostess approached us and asked us to wrap up within 20 minutes as she needed the table for another reservation. Although it was odd, we said it was fine. Less than 2-3 minutes later the bouncer came over and said we needed to leave as we had been there for over 2 hours and if we wanted to finish our drinks we had to stand at the bar. The hostess came by again and we told her what happened- she said it was a miscommunication and she didn't know the bouncer would come over so quick. It was all very rude and odd especially considering we spent just under $400. The food and atmosphere were good but not likely to return based on the staff. read more

Our waiter was very rude. The restaurant charges $4 person for the cake fee. There was no mention of a cake fee until we came to the restaurant with our cake. They didn't even cut and serve the cake for us. We also got a pineapple drink for 2 and the pineapple looked moldy and the waiter tried to argue with us that it was not moldy. Great night out at Tiki Rock. The ambiance was fun during the day, but I'm sure it looks even cooler at night! Lots of little details in the decor that I appreciated. We ordered the crab rangoons and Yiji roll. The roll came out first, with 8 pieces. This roll has truffle oil on it, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the oil didn't overpower the other flavors, but complimented them. It definitely tasted like a sushi roll, with all the right textures, but had a fun twist with the truffle oil. The crab rangoons also had a twist and were served with an apricot sauce, delicious! I loved how crispy/crunchy the wonton wrapper was. We finished our meal with the chocolate molten cake. It came topped with toasted coconut and ice cream/whipped cream surrounding it. It was tasty, although the cake was fairly dry and didn't have much of a molten center. read more

This place is such a good time. We came by for a friend's party one night and ended up staying until they closed. The vibes in here are awesome and the DJ was great. They have a huge menu of tiki drinks that taste just like you are in paradise. They are a bit on the pricey side, but worth it just to try. We also had the mochi ice cream for dessert which was SUPER good. This is a great spot for a birthday part or large group - room for dancing, plenty of seats, and great service. We will be back! read more

Absolutely horrible. The blonde bartender was on her phone the entire time. She saw us sit down, DIDNT even greet us or bring over a menu while she was finished her texts. The other bartender noticed and gave over. She was great, even made a suggestion which we ordered. Just got drinks, kinda expensive for the pineapple drink when there's only a little bit inside. Probably won't be back here. read more

So I had a pretty unpleasant experience over at tiki rock this past weekend, me and my boyfriend wanted to go have a date night in the city and so we found tiki rock, called and made reservations for 9:45, NOWHERE is this place labeled as a 21+ space, I've looked up and down their website and it doesn't specify that in any way. So after driving 30+ minutes to our reservation that we were then denied we had to find another restaurant and I think you can guess that on a Friday night in Boston no place had less than a 30 minute wait time. Although I'm starting to feel glad we didn't end up eating there by all of the other reviews. read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place our first night visiting Boston. The outdoor seating grabbed our attention and the drinks looked really interesting! We each ordered a cocktail and split the cheesecake. The cheesecake was DELICIOUS! The drinks were good -- STRONG -- but not the absolute best if you're looking for something moreso for the taste. Came to Tiki Rock with my work colleagues and would definitely recommend - the vibe was fun enough for a good time (even on a Tuesday!), but not rowdy. The decor was also eclectic and fun (think: Tiki masks everywhere!) The food was great - everything from seaweed salad (which I usually don't like) to sushi and wings were exactly what our team (full of picky eaters) was looking for. The real showstopper (as it should be) were the drinks. There were classics (mai tai) as well as fun twists (our tai - my personal favorite). All of the drinks I tried were tart (and strong!) without being overly sweet. Overall great for a fun time for groups or grabbing a drink. read more

We were very disappointed in this place. Their drink menu and food menu looked so good but the service there was so so so slow. We did order a round of drinks and some apps which were good but our waiter just left us sitting there without coming back for almost an hour. We want to order more drinks because they were good but decided to leave because we didn't want to wait. Maybe the bar would have been better. Food was good, we had 12 oysters, 1 order of potstickers, and 4 drinks total. Food and drinks were good but they told us happy hour ended at 6pm instead of 7pm like it says everywhere else on the signage throughout the restaurant and on the website. It was okay while it lasted but weird that they no longer let us order through the happy hour menu while the tables next to us were allowed to. No time limits I was made aware of. read more

Absolutely delicious! For dinner, I had the sumac-crusted tuna with haricots and assorted vegetables, and it was fantastic. The tuna was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and paired perfectly with the vegetables. Between the food, the atmosphere, the energy, and especially the knowledgeable and attentive service, Row 34 delivered a dining experience that I'll definitely remember. [Discrimination] I experienced the worst discrimination at this place. My girlfriend and I arrived at 9pm Saturday 12/10/2. We were sat at a table WITH our beanies on and NO ONE said anything about their "no hat policy" for hours, they did not ask us to take our hats off when we walked in, bc if they did WE WOULD HAVE LEFT... one of the guys / waiters who claimed "he owned the place" came up to me and my girlfriend saying that we needed to take our beanies off because he asked someone else, a man, to take off his SnapBack off and that man pointed at us saying he didn't have to do anything since we had beanies on. I was upset bc I suffer from ALOPECIA and it was the worst it's ever been tonight...... my girlfriend only supports me and tries her best to make me feel comfortable wherever we go. Had they advised us that we had to take our beanies off when we first walked in, we would have just left and found another place that was more INCLUSIVE BUT THEY DIDNT. Also, my girlfriend and I are black and Latina and we felt it was extremely tone death from the man that came up to us saying these things bc he wanted a black man to take his hat off. Our waiters (multiple) completely agreed with us and said she would handle it, could not believe that it even happened. She came back to us and said she would talk to her manager but that didn't matter because the same guy (wish I knew his name " came back to attack us and trying to make me and my girlfriend take off our beanies again... even after our waiter said we were perfectly fine and there was nothing to worry about) after that multiple waiters and another manager came to apologize to us. The guy that wanted to make us take our beanies off told the bar tender to not serve us again and this was before midnight. It was HUMILIATING. We spent over $200 - and not that it should EVER matter because it's not about how much you spend but I couldn't believe the lack of compassion and the rest of the folk that work there stood there watching us be humiliated because of MY DISABILITY and because whoever this man was wanted to go on a POWER TRIP read more

We recently visited this restaurant during a tacos and margaritas bar crawl and had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable. From the moment we arrived, things went downhill quickly. We sat at the bar and tried to order drinks, only to be met with a bartender who was extremely rude and dismissive. When we ordered martinis, she asked if we wanted Baileys in them. Two of us said yes, but one did not. She rudely told us, "Too late, I already added it," and served the drinks as she saw fit without caring about our preferences. A few minutes later, an employee asked us to stand up because they needed to take the bar stools, forcing us to stand while we finished our drinks. We then moved to a table next to the bar, thinking we'd have a better experience there. However, we were soon asked to leave that table as well, despite the restaurant being practically empty with over seven open tables around us. At this point, we had had enough and decided to leave. As we were walking out, a man--who we hadn't interacted with at all--began yelling at us aggressively. He screamed, pointing at us, and demanded that we "get the F out" of the restaurant. We were shocked and confused, as we had no idea why he was so angry. We were told that he was the bar manager, his name was Jeremy, and apparently he was upset because he "thought" that were talking about him. His behavior was completely unprofessional, childish, and threatening. We had high hopes for a fun evening, especially with this being part of the bar crawl, but we were treated so poorly that it ruined the entire experience. We weren't looking for any free handouts; we paid for our drinks and only wanted to enjoy ourselves. Instead, we were disrespected and treated horribly. If the restaurant is unhappy with the kind of crowd this event brings in, they should seriously reconsider participating in it. Otherwise, it's unfair to treat customers this poorly. We won't be coming back, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this place. Terrible service and unwelcoming staff. read more

FIRST AND LAST TIME COMING HERE! I recently visited Tiki Rock with high expectations but ended up having a thoroughly disappointing experience. When we arrived, we were seated at the back and given menus. Despite the restaurant being slow, our server did not ask if we wanted anything to drink. We waited for 25 minutes with no service. To make matters worse, a large group of over ten people came in, sat down, and received their drinks before us. (Even though we had already been waiting for over 20 minutes at that point.) When I finally brought this up to an employee, she casually said, "Okay, I'll bring the iPad to take your order," but then proceeded to seat other guests. Frustrated, we decided to leave. I informed her it was fine, but she completely ignored me. Seeking some resolution, I approached the manager, who was entirely unapologetic and dismissive. Overall, my experience at Tiki Rock was terrible. The complete lack of attention from the staff and the indifferent attitude of the manager ruined our evening. I won't be returning and can't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Disappointing new tiki bar in downtown Boston doesn't fully execute the idea. On one hand there are some cute tiki lamps, undersea lighting, bamboo furniture and moai tables. On the other the waitstaff look like a drab take on Trader Joe's employees and one taste will tell you their $13 Trader Vic mai tai is not from the recipe they say it is. No lusciousness, too dry, color isn't even properly golden. Are they using low end spirits? Possible since they don't list the brands on the menu (for a $13 cocktail? Seriously?). Had hopes for this newbie to the tiki scene but it has far to go. I guess my question is, do the owners really care about tiki, or is this just something someone told them is on trend? It feels like the latter right now. read more

If you want to feel like you're on vacation somewhere tropical, without even having to leave Boston, this is the place. Talented bar staff, handmade cocktails and of course great Polynesian cuisine. Sit at the bar, and you'll have a front row seat to the show. Watching these guys mix drinks with such flair and pizazz will have you in awe. Food wise - we got the crab rangoon, some dumplings and the Lotus Flower sushi roll. The sushi was my favorite, so good! I truly think this bar has something for everyone, and appears committed to engaging their customers as well as their staff...which is hard to find these days. It seems like the art of service is lost on many places in the city. Keep up the good work! read more

Started a yelp account just to rave about this new place! My girlfriend and I were curious after reading about it in Boston Magazine and indeed Tiki Rock was just what we needed to escape our first winter here. Staff were incredibly welcoming and the atmosphere immediately puts you at ease. The drinks went above and beyond what we even knew possible. I wanted to try them all- if you're only getting one, we recommend scrumdiddlyrumptious. For food, be sure to get the pork buns and/or coconut shrimp - I actually found myself fantasizing about the buns the next day. My girlfriend is vegetarian and had lots to choose from. Highly highly recommend checking this out!!! read more

Just moved up from NYC and saw this place had just opened. Some old friends and I were getting together, decided to come here and very happy we did! For drinks, we got the scrumdiddlyrumptious, I can see clearly now and the rum barrel -- all were delicious (and strong)! For food - we shared the lotus flower sushi roll, pork buns and the fried ginger soy chicken, everything was so good we wished we were more hungry. Will definitely be going back to try some of the other dishes. This place makes you feel like you've stepped out of the city and are on a tropical getaway! read more

Curtis the bartender is a psycho and threatened me after a few drinks. He was really friendly at first. We exchanged numbers because I was drunk. He said he would over pour if I tipped him better. Then the manager said if I leave a positive review up for atleast 2 weeks they get a bonus. They said they'd give me extra food/booze if I'd do that. Then Curtis threatened me the next night over text. I should of never became friendly with him. Do not go here it's sketchy. There are wayyyyy better places to spend your money!! read more

My husband and I went to Tiki Rock for the first time Friday night. We stayed for several drinks but had already eaten. We sat at the bar and loved it! Our bartender Shiner made the whole experience so festive and fun that he made our entire evening. He was efficient, super friendly, suggestive to ordering and overall extremely entertaining which is what is missing at most bars nowadays. You can tell he loves what he does and is certainly such an asset to this establishment. Shiner will be the reason we return!! read more

Was greeted by Curtis who was very helpful, humorous and made me feel right at home. He was not overbearing, was thoughtful. I had a great lunch. The Coconut Rice bowl is enough for two or maybe three, but it hit the spot. I did not have one of the drinks listed as well it was lunch and I didn't want to waddle back to the office but they looked refreshing! The prices are reasonable for a downtown restaurant. I was recently in tiki rock and I overheard the manager tell my waitress mid shift that they were going to pool tips. I understand this has never happened before she just decided to make this up on her own tonight. I do not think this is fair at all I want my waitress who was amazing to get the tip I left her. I think the BBB need to get involved. I might call them myself. I am highly disappointed in this and would not recommend tiki rock to anyone for this matter read more

The dark haired girl bartender with all the tattoos said derogatory statements about some customers who happened to friends of mine. The people she was talking about are so nice & are never mean to anyone. When someone works at an establishment they represent the establishment & clearly she does not understand this. In summary, it was just average. The atmosphere resembles that of a nightclub, with loud music and a sizable bar area, which is somewhat appealing. The food was satisfactory, but it didn't really stand out. It is certainly overpriced for the quality. My husband and I were looking for a apot to rekindle some romance and they told him about this place. The bar is very cozy , dim lights, and great service. The food is appetizee style and focuses mainly on the drinks. We loved the pu pu platter. Bartender Rafael came to our table and made us a complimentary drink which was AMAZINGGGGG! Tiki Rock in Boston was a disappointment. It lacked the typical tiki atmosphere, with blaring TVs showing sports and very little decor to create the right ambiance. The drinks were terrible--overpoweringly strong with competing flavors, lacking the complexity and balance you expect from tiki cocktails. Overall, it was just plain bad. read more

Tiki Rock really Rocks! The place and ambient is good to party at! The drinks a great. Food is unique. I love partying at this place. The staff are cool to be with. They always greet you.
