Portions were huge and the food was pretty good. I was disappointed in the fries because from what I've seen from other reviews they looked like they were supposed to be more seasoned and crispy. We came at breakfast time on a Saturday so they were pretty busy. The service reflected that as well as it was hard to get a hold of someone to get any extra condiments and even once we did the lady never brought the ranch we asked for. I loved that they have Asian inspired flavors for their dishes and will definitely be back to try some other dishes. They charge an extra dollar for the juice for mimosas even though that isn't posted on the menu just a heads up.
Wow, i usually am not a breakfast or brunch person but this place is truly amazing in both the food and the service. You cant go wrong with the smash burger and the chicken and waffles as we wanted a brunch vibe. Not only was our server amazing, but the manager was so kind and attentive and has definitely won us over !
Service was exceptional! The owners are super sweet and you can tell they are very passionate about having Toast Kitchen. They offer outside and inside seating. Ube French toast 5/5 the French toast was not overly sweet. This is a plus imo! I liked how you can taste everything from the bread, ube, and maple syrup. Each individual flavor didn't overpower one another and it was a perfect balance.
Such a cute brunch and cocktails for a chill Saturday! My close girlfriend and I met up for drinks and fries (a tradition of ours) and stumbled upon Toast. The staff were so friendly and sweet - I wish I got her name but she was the best and made us feel so welcomed. We got the pho fries and devoured it!!! Overall, not too pricey drinks and reasonably priced munchies
I had the best brunch at Toast Kitchen with my friends recently. We ordered several dishes to share so we could try different menu options. Ube French Toast (5/5) - This french toast was the star of our brunch. The thick broiche was delicious with the ube pastry cream and blueberry sauce. I loved that this dish wasn't too sweet but had amazing flavor. Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich (5/5) - This fried chicken sandwich was so delicious. The fried chicken was huge on the brioche bun, and the coleslaw was paired perfectly. Chilaquiles (4/5) - The chilaquiles were pretty tasty with the shredded pork and sunny-side-up egg. If youre looking for a really good brunch place bit didnt make a reservation and dont want to wait ten years for a table, may i suggest: TOAST! Theyve got something for everyone and its all beautiful, unique, and delicious. They have a distinct filipino fusion vibe with a fully stocked bar and some coffee shop pastries/drinks. We got their mimosa flight and the flavors (yuzu, hibiscus, peach, and coconut) were all fantastic. And i havent seen them done before! My chilaquiles were absolutely delicious, not spicy but very flavorful, and i would LOVE to get those again. The egg was perfectly runny and the salsa fit the dish so well. Nice and crispy chips. Boy got the sisig burrito, and loved it. It was a good size and filled with pork and french fries with a good aioli. The korean chicken sandwich looked great, and the chicken and waffles were very interesting- i think they fry the chicken with something vaguely fish-tasting which was interesting.. but the chicken was very tender. We got a mango pie and it was just ok. Theyre beautiful, but save room for something else. There was no wait for our party of 4 on Saturday at 10am. Theres a big parking lot and indoor+outdoor seating. What a treat!!
Love this place!! Literally no negatives about it!!! - Lots of parking - Quick, attentive; and friendly service (they speak English and Tagalog!) - Vegetarian options - Good lattes! - Cute, trendy, minimalist decor inside - Also able to just order from the bakery and go if you don't want to sit down and eat - Amazing pies!!!
What a pleasant surprise this place was. A girlfriend of mine invited me here for breakfast and there was no disappointment except for the latte. I used to work in the coffee industry, and I can tell that either they use cheap coffee, they have not cleaned their espresso machine or their beans have been out for too long and are possibly expired. It is also possible that the grind is off or maybe it's something else. The latte tasted as if the coffee was rancid or old. My açai bowl was out of this world and my friends. Breakfast burrito was also delicious. The staff were very welcoming and wonderful and the place was spotless. Definitely coming back for the Basque cheesecake because we didn't get a chance to try it because I had to run.
Thai chilaquiles (6/10) - this dish is normally made with pulled pork, but we were told we were able to sub it up for chicken, and it tasted pretty good still. My favorite part of the dish was definitely the pickled onions, they were the star of the show! Overall, I feel like the dish was somehow too sweet, yet felt like it needed some type of sauce. There were also a lot of beans which made most of the tortilla chips, too soggy and hard to eat. Ube latte (7/10) - it was very sweet and milk/creamy forward. So if you like that, it's a very good drink! I personally didn't taste as much ube as I was hoping for but still good.
We came on Sunday around noon and waited for about 10 minutes before being seated. It was really nice inside also with a glass window for their baked goods as well! We ordered the Ube French toast, pork belly bowl, and breakfast sandwich. We were really surprised by the size of all the items and were really full by the end of the meal, but I was definitely impressed by how tender the pork belly was and just the flavor of the overall bowl ! I wished there was more sauce in the bowl. And the French toast was amazing (as an Ube lover) along with the blueberry sauce and blueberries (and I'm not a blueberry fan either). Would love to come back and try their other items!
The service was top tier when I went! The vibes were very homey / cozy :) Also turns out I was the very first customer to try their coconut crusted French toast! It was super yummy and fragrant- honestly I don't even like coconut all that much but I sure did enjoy this. The workers personally asked for our opinion since we were the first to try it. Compliments to the chef indeed
Parking - Small parking lot in the shopping center which fills up quickly. Ube Latte - This was tasty and not too strong of an ube flavor. You can add espresso if you want. Sisig Burrito - It's large and hearty. I enjoyed the combination of flavors but wish that it came with a sauce and possibly a side dish. Service - Our server was very nice, but the service was slow. Our dining experience took almost 2 hours from being seated to getting the check back after paying. Mini pies are a decent size and I ordered one to go since I was full from my meal.
I checked out Toast Kitchen & Bakery after browsing their menu and was interested in the variety of their unique options. The inside was nicely decorated for Christmas, which gave the place a warm and festive feel. Service was solid and we were seated quickly and taken care of right away. Unfortunately, the food wasn't what I expected. I had the sisig burrito, which is described as having pork belly, chicharrón, kalamansi mayo, and jalapeño. I was expecting tangy flavors and a bit of crunch, but it ended up being fairly bland and lacked the texture I was hoping for. We also ordered the fried chicken and waffles. The waffle itself was perfectly crispy and enjoyable, but the chicken was disappointing. The menu does not indicate it is fried in the same oil as fish, yet there was a noticeable fishy aroma and aftertaste that was very off-putting. It was especially unfortunate given how generous the portion size was but it ultimately went to waste due to the flavor. While some of their other menu items may be worth trying, this experience left me unlikely to return.
Delicious brunch spot! I love the Asian fusion dishes offered here. This is the only restaurant I know of in the area that offers Millionaire's bacon like in the Bay Area, so I always get a side of it. Though the cuts of bacon aren't as thick as the ones in the bay. The pork belly bowls were hugeee and very filling. Tons of rice and I like how it comes with broccolini and an egg. The pork belly was super soft and flavorful. Service was good. read more

Small quaint restaurant inside a large shopping plaza. Matcha latte : True matcha flavor and not too sweet. Note: Can order matcha latte with choice of milk-cow,almond, or oat. Tip: if you order the chicken & waffles, immediately remove the chicken away from the waffle to ensure a somewhat crisp waffle. Food came out nice & hot. Just tried the Toro Blueberry Pie and wow easily one of the best desserts I've had in a while. Perfectly balanced sweetness, with that rich, juicy blueberry filling and a flaky crust that holds up without being too heavy. It's the kind of pie that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate it. I also came during happy hour and ordered the Kiraage Wings solid move. They were crispy, flavorful, and had just the right amount of kick. A little sweet, a little spicy, and super satisfying. Great portion size too for a happy hour item. Service was friendly, the vibe was chill, and the food definitely exceeded expectations. Highly recommend dropping by during happy hour and don't sleep on that pie. I have dined at Toast in the Newport location and recalled the food and pies were tasty. I came to this location and enjoyed the natural light and modern decor. The dining room was moderately sized and there was an option to dine outside as well. The food was okay. We tasted the Orange Chicken Salad, the Yuzu Caper Chicken Sandwich, Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich, Churro French Toast, and a side of fries. I also ordered the Guava Lime Soda. Honestly, out of all of the dishes, the fries was my favorite part of the meal. What made it more disappointing, was how there were ZERO pies available. We were told the pastry chef has recently been unavailable. What a disappointment. The staff here was very kind and pretty helpful. read more
There are two things I really love if done right. Fusion food and Ube!!! I've heard about their Costa Mesa location but never got a chance to try it. I am happy that they opened a location closer to home. Located pretty close to The District, we got there around 10:20am and it was about half full. I loved the ambience, décor, and service. The good 1. Ube French Toast - I could eat this all day. I loved the Ube Whipped Cream! It was so light and fluffy and not overly sweet. Paired with the French Toast and super fresh blueberries (they were hard and sweet) and I am in Ube heaven. The sauce wasn't even needed but I did try it on a few bites. I would get this again! 2. Thai Chile Chilaquiles - The pulled pork was moist and had great flavors with a small hint of smokiness. I loved the Thai Chile Salsa Verde yet I couldn't quite tell the Thai influence in it? It was slightly spicy which is a plus. Regardless, I really enjoyed this dish. The alright 1. Pork Sisig - I really wanted to like this but the first thing I noticed upon taking a bite was how much sauce was in it. I normally complain about there not being enough sauce, but the Pork Belly and Chicharron was somewhat masked by the taste of the Kalamansi Mayo. Don't get me wrong, I liked it. This review is only for the champagne flight and the pandan latte with a shot of espresso. We didn't order any food. I specifically chose Toast because I visited the Whittier location and was totally in love and so I was a little bit biased coming into this location because I was thinking the vibes and aesthetics would be very similar. This Toast location is simple - chic and modern. It's located in a large plaza so parking isn't an issue. The restroom in the back is clean. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I didn't particularly enjoy seeing their stock shelf that was visible to the customers. The customer service is awesome! Justin was our server - totally attentive, great smile, great vibes! He checked on us frequently which I love. We ordered the champagne flight and the pandan latte with espresso. The champagne flight includes unique flavors but could go without the chia seeds. I think my pandan latte was over heated. It literally had a burnt taste. I had a sip and couldn't hang. I inquired and was offered the pandan latte with the espresso separately, which helped, but have to say I wouldn't order it again because I've had pandan lattes with espresso and have never had a bad experience. I may come back but I'm curious to experience the other Toast locations. read more

I called this place 30 minutes before I arrived so I could order a to go order a girl named Ava put me on hold and forgot that I was on hold and left me on hold for 20 minutes. I called back on repeat since they do not have call waiting and listen to their busy signal for 20 minutes while they completely forgot about me Then when they answered the phone 20 minutes later, Ava apologized and took my order and then arrived 20 minutes later to pick up my order and Ava apologized once again to let me know that she never entered my order into the system and that I would now need to wait another 20 minutes for my breakfast burrito This place looks like it's run horribly and doesn't have any true management. This is the third time that I've been to this place and it's been a bad show every single time. read more
I've previously been to and liked the Costa Mesa location but tried the new Tustin location a couple weekends ago with a large group of 11. We arrived around noon and waited for just over an hour for a few tables on the patio. Service felt standard and while there were plenty of parking spots we had to park on the other side of the lot due to how busy it was (still a way better parking situation than the Costa Mesa location). The food itself was good with the best item being their popular Ube French Toast. As a table we also ordered the Acai bowl, Pb&J French Toast, Bell pepper quiche, Fried chicken and waffle and the Thai Chile Chilaquiles. Would definitely also recommend the Fried Chicken and Waffles but would probably suggest sticking with the Ube French Toast instead of the PB&J French Toast. Overall a pretty decent brunch spot if you're in the area. read more

Service is slow. I had to approach one of the staff to ask to be served after we had been waiting for over 10 minutes. The presentation of the food was pretty, but it tasted bland. I had the sisig burrito and my husband had the chicken and waffles, and they both were under seasoned. The sisig meat was cut up to be more like lechon paksiw, but did not taste like sisig nor lechon paksiw. The menu says the egg in the sisig burrito was supposed to be over easy, but it was hard cooked. The ube latte with espresso was very good, but the ube latte without espresso, again, lacked flavor. The decor of the place was cute and pleasant, but not enough of an attraction to make us go back. read more
Really solid brunch spot! The Ube French Toast was AMAZING. There was Ube whipped cream and Ube syrup on the french toast and both were to die for. The lattes were really good as well, the pandan was amazing and I could really taste the flavor. Was a big fan of the salt and pepper bowl, really strong flavors of garlic coming through which was amazing. The Sisig burrito was good but not my favorite, I personally couldn't taste too much in the burrito and have never had Sisig with guacamole before--but that's my personal preference! Would expect a long wait at Toast especially during brunch hours, but we were seated at the bar right away since we had a small group and everything came out super quick! read more

Our server was absolutely great, didn't catch his name but he did a great job. Food was fantastic, ordered mole burgers, salt and pepper pork, ube toast, chicken and waffles and everything came out great. Food was a lot lighter than it looked. The ube French toast looks like it would be super sweet but wasn't which was nice. read more
I'm so happy I finally got to try Toast! I came around 9:45 AM on a Sunday morning & my wait was about 20 minutes. I like this location better than the Costa Mesa one because there is more parking here. I ordered the ube french toast (no blueberries). It has a nice ube flavor & is pretty sweet, but it is super good. A great breakfast item! I also got the pandan latte; however, it was underwhelming. I liked that there was a strong pandan flavor, but it wasn't that great & I would not get it again. Overall, a good place for breakfast! read more

Came on a Saturday morning with a party of 5 and waited about 40 minutes until seated. The ambiance is modern and nice. I ordered the Smash burger with small fries. The burger ingredients tasted fresh but the patty lacked a bit of seasoning in my opinion. Also not a fan of the bun they used, it a croissant type of bread which I didn't think goes well for a smash burger, but it wasn't bad. I found half the fries undercooked and soggy. Although we noticed another table get a different type of fries that looked more thin and crispy, which I didn't know they had. If you want fries, I would stay away from these fries and get the other thin fries, if available. Smash burger: 6.5/10 Fries: 3/10 read more

One of my absolute favorites! Used to be 5 stars before they started giving a smaller portion. I used to cute this in quarters, share a piece with family and still be satisfied. Today, I cut it in 1/2 and it was obvious the portion changed. My favorite part was my waitress telling me it was the same. I've ordered this SO MANY TIMES. The service was quick and easy with them checking up on us at regulated times. We had a very nice seat inside in the sun and it wasn't very noisy, the food was great and i have the burger, sisig burrito and ube french toast, although the sisig was a little too soft it was delicious! read more

Came on a Friday around noon with a friend and waited about 20 minutes after checking in to be served - having been to the Costa Mesa Toast before, I expected somewhat of a wait. I recommend taking a look at the menu while you wait so you can order as soon as you're seated. This location is a nice mix of retro cafe and modern fixtures and makes for a really cute backdrop for your meal - better decorated than its sister location IMO. Food took around 15 minutes to arrive, so you'll definitely be a little hungry by the time you're ready to eat! Sisig Burrito ($18): what I consider the defining menu item of Toast Kitchen. Rich, fatty pork, a citrusy kick, and decadent potato all literally melt in your mouth for a one-of-a-kind brunch. Ube French Toast ($17): great conclusion to brunch! Ube cream tasted like the real thing without excessive sweetness, and the syrup it came with was nice for every other bite of toast. Topped with blueberries and granola (?) and plated with blueberry and mango sauces, this was more than enough to satisfy our sugar cravings. Passionfruit Lavender Soda ($5): fizzy and sweet, flavors matched in intensity. Simple but effective! Will return in the near future! read more
We were in Tustin running errands and wanted to get brunch afterwards. Looked up surrounding brunch places and placed my trust on Yelpers that this is the spot to check out. Thanks to the Yelp community because Toast Kitchen & Bakery is amazing. When we arrived at around 11:30am there was a bit of wait already. The good thing is that you can put your name down, and they'll text you when your table is ready. In the same plaza, you can walk over to a nearby brewery and get a beer as you wait for your table. Once I got the text, I was immediately seated right inside, away from the summer heat. We got the sisig burrito, chicken and waffle, and Thai chilequiles. All the dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly. However, I just wished the Thai chilequiles was more saucy as it was a bit on the dryer side. Overall, we love the Asian fusion to our favorite brunch dishes. I'm looking forward to going back and trying the sweet brunch dishes next time. read more

Pretty spot for Sunday brunch. Had to wait about 30 min to be seated but they do have plenty of seating/benches outside of the restaurant. I decided to split the Ube french toast with my 2 other friends and each of us got our own entree as well. Servings are very generous. My friends got the sisig burrito and I got the quiche. The quiche was satisfying but I wish they had put more veggie filling in it. It came with a nice side salad with broccolini, mixed greens, radish, and onion. The Ube french toast was tasty but I wish the bread itself was a little less on the spongey side and more milky but still crispy and fluffy. It came with Ube whipped cream, syrup, granola, and fresh blueberries. Overall, had a good experience and our waitress was kind. read more
Outstanding brunch! In a similar Asian fusion vein as Nep Cafe, Toast Kitchen+Bakery is a little more casual and just as tasty with beautifully-presented and deliciously-crafted offerings. The pandan latte was great with a shot of espresso and had a subtle sweetness. Orange chicken salad had nicely crispy (not saucy) chicken served with a fresh take on Chinese chicken salad--the wasabi did shine through taste- (but not spice-) wise, so beware if you are not really a wasabi fan. The soba salad was good. The most amazing dishes that will bring me back are the ube french toast and Thai chili chilaquiles. The chilaquiles were superb, with satisfying Thai chili spice, pickled red onions, crunchy chips. Our only suggestion was that we might have liked some cotija or other fresh cheese sprinkled on top. The Ube French Toast: maybe the best ube sweet brunch dish I have had in OC, the flavors and textures were perfect and came with a generous topping of blueberries. Not to mention the gorgeous presenation. My friends thought the syrup was unnecessary, but I liked the moisture it added to the experience. Service was good, and they accommodated our request for both a sunny side and over easy eggs for the chilaquiles. They packed our two pies--taro and cookies and cream--to go which are also delicious but stayed with my parents so will have to review another time! I hear the wait can be long, so our party of 4 arrived at 9:15AM on a Sat and were seated promptly. read more

We wanted to dine in here for Sunday brunch but we got there around 11:30am and it would be an 1hr-1.5hr wait... we were hoping there would be a shorter wait time considering how there weren't that many people waiting outside and I saw plenty of seats open?? Especially I wanted to dine on the patio since I brought my dog with me as well, and there were plenty of seats. Although, we went to grab it to-go instead. We ordered the ube French toast and the sisig burrito with a side of hash browns. Starting with the ube French toast, that one was actually really good! I enjoyed this one a lot and I loved how they had this coconut crunch to compliment with every bite. Overall it is nice and warm and the ube cream you can apply on top, and that was really good. I also really liked how generous they were with the blueberries! With the sisig burrito, the burrito was alright, but it did seem to lack some flavor... we wish we could have had hot sauce with this, but I liked how there was a good amount of avocado with this one. My bf says the avocado was too overpowering, but I also liked the avocado with it haha. Although, the meat in it could have been better. Overall, I would say this is a pretty decent brunch joint in the Irvine area. There aren't that many solid joints around, so I liked this one quite a bit! read more

Ube French Toast- This was definitely a must get item here! Normally, the ubes I try are always on the sweeter side for me but this place makes it just right. They also gave plenty of blueberries. The dish was served warm and the ube cream was delicious! Would get this again! Fried Chicken & Waffle- This plate was definitely shareable. There was nothing out of the ordinary with the waffle but the chicken was tender and crunchy on the outside. It's always a coin flip when it comes to Asian Fusion places, but when it comes to Toast, you'll always win the coin toss either way! All the dishes were all great and most notably my favorites were the Sisig Burrito and the Chilaquiles! The Sisig burrito is kinda like a California burrito (fries instead of rice), & the pork belly, eggs, fontina(cheese), plus avocado aji verde (spicy Peruvian green sauce) made this burrito amazing & I already miss the taste. The pulled Pork & chilaquiles overall had an amazing flavor while being soft & perfectly crunchy. Really great concept combinations from different cultures & everything was delicious. Would love to come again sometime! Great for dates, brunch, family outings, or a SiSig burrito for one! read more
Wow 5 stars easily! We came here with my middle / high school friend and her husband for breakfast. The server was very nice and was able to accommodate our party of seven. The presentation of everything was right out of instagram and tasted amazing. The ube French toast was one of the best things I have ever tasted. Highly recommend! read more

I went here for Fathers Day with my party of 5. There was a 10 minute wait for the patio and 45 minute wait for indoors. We were all pretty hungry so we decided to sit outside. I've been to the Toast in Costa Mesa and was not disappointed, so I was keen to have my family try this location out. The tables were not flat on the ground which posed a problem when we placed our drinks on the table as they kept spilling with each minimal movement. We would have preferred if they pushed 2 tables together that they would be leveled. We ordered a ton of food including my fave from Costa Mesa Toast: Nashville hot chicken and waffles. 10/10 would recommend, best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. We also ordered ube french toast- delightful and sweet. I've a fan of savory breakfast but this didn't disappoint. The sisig burrito was also good but very citrusy due to the calamansi (intended to taste like that but I personally wasn't a fan) Other things we ordered- BLT, and sides of pancakes, bacon, and hashbrowns. My mom was saying the pancakes tasted like how they did in the Philippines growing up lol I also ordered a pandan latte which I didn't like that much and probably wouldn't order again. Overall, our waitress was very nice and continually checked up on us throughout our time. It is located in a nice clean plaza with plenty of parking. Ambiance was cool but my only thing was some items were overpriced. The only thing I would say worth the price is the chicken and waffles. read more
