Went here for Mother's Day lunch, and it was absolutely PACKED. We were a party of 4, so I told them my name and we waited outside. It took around 30 min for us to be called in. Kimchi Fried Rice: It was pretty good, a bit on the blander side. LA Galbi: Always a good choice with a bowl of rice. Tofu Japchae: My family loves this. If you are hankering for some good and simple Korean food Tofu Plus is the place to go. However be warned that it is located right across from The Apple spaceship in Cupertino and it is popular with the employees. There is plenty of parking especially at dinner time. As I said the place was busy for dinner and there was a 20 minute wait for a seat. Once seated we perused through the menu and I order the seafood beef mix soon dobu, my friend wanted the Galbitang, and we shared a seafood pancake. After about 5 minutes our banchan arrived and holy cow it was huge. It was a meal in itself no kidding. Next was the Galbitang followed by the Soon dobu and seafood pancake. In summary everything was delicious and amazing. It has been awhile since I had Korean food at a restaurant and I was impressed by this one. Good location in a strip mall, parking can be crowded, a good amount of tables inside, but typically pretty crowded, so you should expect a wait (hence, why we did take out). This might just be the best tasting korean place we have up in NorCal. There was at least 20 people ahead of me on the waitlist, but service is so quick that there was only about 15 minutes of waiting. Started off with lots of banchan. They all tasted amazing which is hard to do. My favorite was the bok choy one. It was so crisp and marinated with sesame oil and gochujang. The tea was roasted brown rice and also excellent. The server was constantly topping us off. Ordered the beef and kimchi tofu stew with ramen spicy and it was just perfectly flavorful. Came at a little before 1 pm on a weekend with a friend and were able to be instantly seated. The restaurant is in Cupertino Village, with lots of other food and boba spots + 99 Ranch. Some of the tables are pretty close together and you aren't coming here for ambiance, but rather to eat! They have a good variety of appetiziers, soondubus, noodle soups, and classic bbq meats. I usually always order the fish roe/egg tofu soup option if they have that at restaurants, which is not always the case but Tofu Plus offers it so that's what I had! Relative to other places, they're not as generous with the amount of fish roe/egg and they tend to cut them into smaller pieces as opposed to some other places, but I was still a huge fan and loved it! Lots of flavor and perfectly seasoned. They also had plenty of options for ban chan, 12 to count! My favorites were the sweet potato, bean sprouts, fish cake, mayo apple, kimchee, cucumbers, seaweed, and broccoli. Honestly, that's already like 80%+ of the banchan lol so you know there's going to be something for everyone. Went to this Korean restaurant a couple months ago for the first time, it was sooo good I had come back so many times with all of my friends. The food is always great and consistent I would recommend some of the kimchi soups, they are great. The workers are always very quick and super nice, whenever something is ordered it never takes super long and they speak good english too. The banchan tends to be lighter and more veggies this time maybe be you the season, so no potatoes, but after we ordered the staff asked us which ones we would want a refill. I like the thin fish cake or tofu that is not spicy. Some of them go with the sweet and sour mix of taste like the seaweed. We ordered a fried noodle japchae which is huge in portions! Taste is ok but you can't get that wrong most of the time. It has lots of green onions. I got the oyster soon tofu and it came piping hot! Perfect time to toss in the raw egg and let it cook to silken texture. The tofu soup tasted flavorful and I found 4-5 oysters in it. Not big oysters but medium size enough to bring out the flavors. The Galbi is the star of the show, it's perfectly cooked I can definitely taste the slightly smoky, sweet-and-salty taste. The Bossam was alright, I wasn't a huge fan to be honest - it was not really tasty in my opinion. We ordered a medium beef tofu soup which came with banchan. The tofu soup wasn't spicy at all for a medium, it tasted more mild but it was still delicious. I would definitely come here more often but it is on the pricier side - I wish the portions were a bit bigger for the price but its okay. My husband and I got norovirus from eating here Saturday lunch --24 hrs of vomiting and nausea. This was confirmed by the fact that all our other meals were shared with family and friends who were fine. We had ordered two tofu soups and ate the banchan, which we suspect was the culprit since norovirus doesn't survive heat. Would encourage the restaurant to closely re-examine their hygiene protocol to ensure others do not get the same illness from eating here--eg please ask staff to always wash hands after using bathroom. Between my 5 friends, this is what we ordered: + Bossam Jungsik: Incredibly tender pork belly! The portion is a bit small, but the quality is definitely there. I enjoyed it so much, I came back and ate this twice in one month! + Old Style Bulgogi: Sweet, tender, and very saucy bulgogi! It came inside a rich and flavorful broth that was very comforting. A bit salty, but overall really yummy. + Haemul Pajeon: Very crispy and lots of green onion! I love the tangy dipping sauce that comes with it. I spotted this restaurant few weeks ago, and today we stopped by since we were in the area. Although it was packed we were quickly seated. Grabbed their menu and placed our order through the handy ordering apparatus on each table (I am sure it has a name). Then quickly a server came by with our ten diff ban chans. All delicious. Then another server came by with our Dol Sot Bab with beef. Delicious too. Then our Beef Soft Tofu soup was delivered. It was perfectly seasoned and yummy. Their service was excellent! These days on Yelp I find myself spending a decent amount of time forgetting I ever wrote a review on a restaurant I've been to several years ago and trying to remember what my experience was like back then compared to now (and then of course there's restaurants I've been to and forgot to write a review). For what it's worth, the Galbi Jim is now $75, up from $42 back in my 2017 review. I still prefer Kunjip for Galbi Jim, but Daeho is pretty good too if you want spicy Galbi Jim/Photo or Video Op for the torched cheese/if you like waiting in long lines. Anyways, coming back here again made me realize how much I prefer SGD instead. This place is good if you didn't know SGD existed/haven't tried SGD yet. Though Tofu Plus feels cleaner and bombards you with 12 different kinds of banchan (I'm not a fan of most of them actually, especially don't care for the Korean fruit salad). The Dolsot Bibambap was ok, but the rice didn't crisp up that well. Possibly because the rice was too moist or the stone pot wasn't hot enough. Dolsot Bibambap is a usual go-to of mine, and I make it a personal, consistent effort to wait about ~6 minutes after the Dolsot Bibambap is served to let the rice crisp up at the bottom (which is easy to do for me while I still work on the banchan). For me personally, that crisp rice at the bottom is one of the defining points of ordering Dolsot Bibambap, and if you didn't care for it, you could save a few bucks by ordering regular Bibambap instead. Their Spicy Stir Fried Rice Cake appetizer was pretty good. Their rice cake was very soft and easily fell apart. I think this was because they use fresh rice cake as opposed to freeze dried ones. The soup had a runny consistency, but was very well seasoned. Overall Tofu Plus is ok, but as a postface, I think there are better tasting places that offer the same kind of Korean cuisine nearby. read more
