I love sushi and it so happened I was nearby. Sushi is decent and I can't really say much about service. They asked what I want to drink, they brought it( asked if I'm ready to order, I was; they brought my food; I snuffed my meal and asked for a check and paid for it. Ambience is casual and the same as every sushi place in Reno.
Tokyo Sushi has always been one of my go to spots for sushi. One thing I really love is that their rolls aren't overloaded with rice, which lets the fish and other ingredients shine. The fish is always fresh, and the flavors are consistently on point every time I visit. It's a reliable spot that never disappoints when I'm craving sushi.
Busy busy busy....means always fresh!! Best selection so far that we have discovered with regards to nigiri selections in Reno. They have a buzzer system at the bar when you need to order. Press it and a waitstaff appears. Check the special of the day board to get a new taste. Mussels are limited to 2 orders per person. You can order rolls without all the sauce on them to get the real flavor of the fish. So my chooses and they were all great!!
The food is one of the best sushi spots around. The outside of the building doesn't represent how nice it is inside with great atmosphere. Lunch is packed, so get there early. Service was super responsive early on.... But we may have gotten lost after the first round. However it was all worth the wait.
Tokyo Sushi is one of my go-to sushi spots in town. I always enjoy their nigiri, especially the peppered tuna, they're the only place I know around here that serves it, and it's usually really good depending on which sushi chef is making it. They also have a few solid hand roll options that I like. Service is good and pretty fast, depending on how busy they are. One thing I do wish was better is the sushi rice. It tends to fall apart, and the flavor doesn't really taste like traditional sushi rice. I've also noticed that on the 2nd and 3rd orders, they tend to add more rice. Some of our favorite rolls are the Black Angel, Carson City, Tokyo, and Chao rolls. For sure top 5 sushi spots in Reno for us.
We came here to celebrate my cousin's graduation and had such a great experience! Even though the restaurant was really busy, we were seated surprisingly fast and the service was excellent the entire time. The food was amazing, but the mussels were definitely my favorite -- I even had to take a picture of them because they were that good. I think we ordered like 50 of them Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Overall it was a really great experience and I would highly recommend Tokyo Sushi to anyone in the Reno area!
Went to Tokyo Sushi for my cousin's graduation dinner and had a really great experience. Even though they were extremely busy, they were still able to get our party of 8 seated in a reasonable amount of time, which we really appreciated. The food came out surprisingly quick and definitely didn't disappoint. Everything we ordered was good, but the baked mussels were easily my favorite -- we must have ordered at least 50 of them throughout the night because they were that addictive. The staff was great the entire evening, stayed attentive, and handled the busy atmosphere really well. Overall, it was a fun dinner with good food, good service, and a great spot for celebrating special occasions.
Tokyo sushi is our go to for sushi. The hand rolls, long rolls everything is fresh and delicious. Service was fantastic, sat at the sushi bar which is where I love to sit if there is only 2 of us, tables are great as well if you have a larger group. The bar seating now has service buttons at your seat if you need water, drinks or anything that the sushi chef can't provide. This restaurant is always packed, but they do get you in quickly. Atmosphere is clean and inviting. We went home stuffed and into a food coma . If you haven't been here for sushi you must put Tokyo sushi on the top of your list.
This is my favorite Sushi spot when in Reno. The Sushi is always so good and fresh. Service is always on point. They serve nice size rolls and generous portions. I also love the crab roll appetizer. Yum! Great prices Ala Carte or All you can eat. This place is always packed no matter what time of the day you come so it's best to make reservations. Fun and lively atmosphere! Cozy Japanese inspired decor. Accommodating small and large groups.
We decided to give Tokyo Sushi a try and, unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. Upon being seated, we were told to fill out the all-you-can-eat order form as many times as we wanted, which sounded great. I personally don't eat sushi, but I appreciated that they offered protein options like chicken and beef. I ordered a Bento box--simple enough. That's where things started to go downhill. My meal didn't arrive for over 30 minutes, and when it finally did, it was cold. The chicken tasted like pressed meat and was extremely chewy--definitely not what you'd expect from a basic entrée. I wasn't planning to complain, but it became clear the issue wasn't just my order. The other four people in my group were barely being served at all. Meanwhile, tables that were seated after us were receiving multiple rounds of food while we continued waiting. We asked several servers for updates, and each time we were told they'd check on it--only for them to disappear for 10-15 minutes with no follow-up. After spending over two hours there, many of us left hungry and frustrated. I understand places like this may rely on high turnover or tourist traffic, but customer service and basic food quality should still matter. If you're taking the time to read reviews before choosing where to eat, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. And just to top it off--the ice cream was so frozen solid in its pre-staged cup that the spoon couldn't even break through it.
It has been years since we had been to this place for sushi. It has been redone on the inside and attracts a different kind of clientele these days. When we walked in I was impressed. It was 4pm and almost every table in the house was taken up, and so was the bar. I saw the prices, and they are a little higher than most places in town, but we are willing to pay to try the place. We ordered a huge variety of items from jalapeño poppers to Donald ducks, to quail egg shooters to a variety of rolls. Everything was tasty and fresh. My kid liked one of the baked rolls so much he ordered 3 of them. I liked the hand rolls but found it a little strange that you couldn't order most rolls in a hand roll version they have a hand roll section with about 8 rolls. The place stayed busy till we left and had even started a waiting list. One thing we were excited for was they offered a salmon kama order for each AYCE sushi. We only ordered one and shared it, but it was delicious. We have only had a hamachi kama before so this was a treat. Not sure how ofter we will eat tbere cause it is more expensive, but so glad we went and tried it. Nice for a treat. Oh,and they have huckleberry ice cream for dessert,and they let me have the deep fried banana with huckleberry ice cream instead of vanilla. .
It's been a while since we ate at Tokyo Sushi; the last time we went there, they had just changed management and were still getting their bearings. The current version of the restaurant is more organized and incredibly busy, it's very difficult to find a space in the small parking lot and there's a constant flow of customers through the door. The restaurant was able to accommodate our 5-person party at a nearby booth and we liked the call-button feature at the table. The servers were quick to drop off our drink orders, condiments and our appetizers; once we got started ordering the AYCE sushi, the chefs continuously filled our orders. All the appetizers tasted great; I especially enjoyed the crispy batter on the fried calamari and enjoyed the crab balls. Their unagi and upside down shrimp were pretty smooth. The rest of our of party enjoyed the salmon skin handrolls and scallops ha drool respectively. The PROs: the food was great, everything was beautifully prepared and tasted wonderful. The CONs: the lack of parking, the restaurant's overhead sound system was too loud to carry a decent conversation with the person sitting across the table from you and the restaurant was overcrowded, our party was (politely) asked to leave if we weren't ordering anymore food and were informed the restaurant had a time-limited (it would have been great to know ahead of time), plus, our main server was perturbed when we made a couple of requests: an extra cup for our hot tea and to top off our drinks, he annoyedly informed us he had other tables. (Alrighty, duly noted). So, overall, there were positives and negatives about our dining experience, and given that there are plenty of other AYCE sushi places in town, Tokyo Sushi won't wouldn't be my first choice.
Tokyo Sushi is easily the best sushi spot in Reno absolutely no question about it! From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcome, and the service is consistently fast, friendly, and attentive. The sushi itself is unbeatable: fresh, flavorful, and perfectly bite-sized so you can enjoy every roll without feeling overstuffed. My personal favorites are the Tokyo Roll and the M3 Roll as both are packed with flavor and balance beautifully between texture and taste. Every roll feels carefully crafted, and it's clear the chefs here know what they're doing. What sets Tokyo Sushi apart is the consistency you always know you're going to get high-quality sushi and a great experience every time. Whether you're a sushi regular or bringing friends who are new to it, Tokyo Sushi is the place I always recommend. Between the unbeatable rolls, great service, and lively atmosphere, it's the kind of spot you'll keep coming back to again and again. Truly the best sushi in town!

Tokyo sushi is a top AYCE spot in Reno! The rolls have a great ratios of rice and fish that allow you to taste the great menu they offer. Even though they are often busy and you have to wait a bit, the staff is attentive. On this specific experience we arrived a bit late, at the owner was going around all tables asking for last call, great to see that he is welcoming and involved with his staff! Our top 3 rolls are The Chao, Tokyo and the Mickey Nigiri! If you're in town make sure you check this place out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Place was packed when I arrived for early dinner, however not an Asian was seen on site... except for head chef. Food was not bad but I had a hard time discerning hamachi vs Saba. No warning signs of must finish food or extra penalty which I thought was good. Calamari was a bit fishy and will report back if I get stomach ache. Good service fast, very reasonable for AYCE. read more

This all you can eat sushi does not disappoint!!! The service was super fast, and the entire restaurant was filled, even on a Monday night. It was roughly $35/person for all you can eat. It didn't have all of the specialty rolls I typically look for, but their nigiri selection was 5/5, wow and was it the best nigiri I have had in Reno! Will definitely be back. read more

Came here twice. One for A là Carte and AYCE. Fast services, not very friendly though. The foods we got for A Là Carte were much bigger pieces compared to when we chose AYCE but the taste was the same. It's a good place to come with friends and have some drinks. Monday through Friday there is all you can drink sake. read more
There is ALWAYS a wait to be seated here and now I know why - BEST SUSHI IN RENO!!! I have eaten at several sushi spots in Reno and so far Tokyo Sushi takes the cake. It will be interesting to see if any other sushi restaurants in Reno can steal Tokyo's thunder but I wouldn't bet my hard earned dollar on it. Normally my reviews are accompanied with plenty of pictures but not this one - the food was so delicious the thought of snapping shots completely eluded me. I took a couple of the restaurant's interior to attempt to capture the ambiance, then one of the first couple rolls on the first plate, ate them, then completely forgot to take any more. read more

Definitely one of the better AYCE sushi spots in Reno. The quality of the fish is very good. Good selection of appetizers, nigiri, and rolls. I thought the house salad was really good with that peanut dressing. Staff was also pretty efficient in serving our food and the wait time wasn't too long after we ordered. read more
I came here for the AYCE with 3 others. The rolls and sashimi was pretty good to be honest. To make your money worth it, always just go for sashimi! Service: The service is a bit slow, but we went during peak hours. It took nearly an hour for us to get seated and food was served slowly. However, this is a given since how packed it was. Our server was so nice though and he would always check on our food and talked to us on the side, when he could. Parking: Parking is a bit difficult, and can be hard to find, since it is a plaza with other places surround it. Ambiance: The place is dimly lit and a bit chaotic because we went when it was peak hours. Overall, I would say the AYCE option was worth it for the price. If you have to wait for more than an hour, you can find other places, but honestly it isn't too bad, especially for Reno. read more

My favorite sushi restaurant, excellent customer service, clean, consistent quality. I have never had a bad eating experience here. They have a great variety of rolls and nigiri. Sometimes they don't have quail eggs which is disappointing but not disappointing enough to knock a star off my 5 star review. Been here over 20 times. I always order the AYCE at lunch time. Actually I might go today... The Chao is my favorite roll. Oh, unlike a couple reviews I've read about Tokyo Sushi.. I've never been denied more mussels. read more

The food can be a hit and miss but when it is a hit it is great! This time the food was ok. The service is also a hit and miss, they stay quite busy in the evenings and parking can be a bit hard when it is busy. They do have a couple big screens to watch big games. My fav apps are the baked mussels and the cucumber salad. They'll sometimes have special flavored ice cream, you can look out for that near the bar wall. read more

So I was staying at the Peppermill hotel and this place is walking distance from the hotel or one bus stop away. The food is ok, and the portions are small so if you get all you can eat $26 lunch it comes with hot saki, but the staff is nice, but they will not allow you to sit together if someone orders all you can eat and someone from the same table to order a la carte. That said we had to split up to different tables, they said no sharing allowed or you will get charged extra or full amount for all you can eat. I told them I will eat my a la carte and my friend will eat his all you can eat they said no, that is why I give this place 1 star, plus the rice is very dry & chewy not good at all. read more
So I was a little disappointed I couldn't order individual sushi rolls because my boyfriend had ordered the all you can eat. I understand that's just probably their way of monitoring so good isn't shared, but wasn't expecting it. I ended up going with a teriyaki chicken bento which did not disappoint. Absolutely in love with Tokyo! The portions are light in the rice, heavy on the fish and other ingredients; you really get what you go in looking for. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is timely and friendly. When anyone asks for a sushi spot recommendation Tokyo is my number one go to! We happen to be in Reno for a quick visit on our 27th anniversary and we wanted sushi for lunch but since there was 7 of us, I knew it would not be cheap for us and the my adult kids. Kids appetites are not cheap anymore! LOL The restaurant was clean and pretty full but we got lucky to get a seating for us. All the staff wore masks and gloves during Covid. The tables were decent spread out. Staff was super busy but pretty helpful still. We happen to find this All-You-Can-Eat Sushi place in Reno. Easy to find and plenty of private parking. Prices are very good for what they offer for lunch and dinner. I think we ordered plenty for the price of each person. Sushi's, hand rolls, baby quail egg shooters were all very good. We will definitely come back here when we are craving Japanese food. We totally recommend this place. [32nd/100] read more

Writing this review, I am flabbergasted on why I have not moved my home to a location closer to here. At a price point of 30 dollar for all you can eat (which is eerily close to the normal 20 dollars for sushi) gets you so much. They cut no costs or corners in their food. The service was also speedy, and it was a chill interior. I ended up trying a lot, but one of my favorites was the daffy (even though it's a trap for ayce!). The salmon cheek on the plate (I forgot what is was called) is also a must have if you are doing ayce. Id stay away from the tempura because even though it was good, it wasn't anything special. But the nigiri WAS certainly something special. I must have eaten 10 pieces of unagi alone. Overall, the ayce is the fun and ideal deal, but if you live nearby and aren't coming for a special occasion, the prices are honestly mad cheap compared to every sushi restaurant i've ever been to. read more

Came here during lunch for a la carte and was sat at the bar immediately by the hostess. They have a lot of different rolls on the menu but I ALWAYS get unagi & salmon sushimi anywhere I go, it wasn't on the menu so I opted for the Nigiri style and a delicious "Hot Bae" which was a raw long roll filled with Salmon, crab mix, jalapeno, lemon &yellow tail and topped with the hottest freaking jalapeños ever. I did have to take some off. It took me a little while to get a refill for my water. The miso soup was delicious also. The restaurant in general had a nice vibe will definitely come back for some AYCE dinner and drinks read more

So I have to admit I was skeptical after reading the reviews. A friend of ours from the Bay who recently moved to Reno made the recommendation. AYCE?! I'm too old to eat as much as I used to but can't resist sushi so hubs and I rolled on over. I think we lucked out and caught the second lunch wave so our wait wasn't more than 10 minutes. People complained the service was slow but it was fine and come on people it's PC (post covid) do you know how hard it is to get restaurant help? Have a heart people! Anyways, we ordered a bunch of food and all I was stuffed silly. It's true there is a good fish to rice portion (the nigiri) and even though some reviews complained the rolls were "small" but honestly, 10 pieces is plenty and I want to be able to order things and not just eat a bunch of rice! I didn't try EVERYTHING but did repeat the salmon and unagi nigiris. They were popper size and I love the freshness of the unagi nicely crisped and warm. Baked mussels were good. Definitely give them a try. Loved the batter on the tempura. Nice and light with a touch of sugar. For dessert, fried banana with ice cream for sure! Yum yum yum. I used to love AYCE sushi in Davis but now I'll have to drive farther to Reno! read more

We went for lunch on a random Monday and we were really impressed. The variety of rolls and appetizers you can get are plentiful and all looked good. The rolls were nicely constructed and the nigiri had a good fish to rice ratio (which isn't usually the case). I wanted to get more but my stomach wouldn't comply. Reno has a lot of decent but ultimately mediocre places to get AYCE sushi, but this place really felt and tasted a cut above the rest. read more

Loved everything. Might have pushed ourselves to eat everything we ordered (eyes are bigger than our stomachs). I wish we remembered what we ordered on the first round, but it was all delicious. Loved trying the appetizers this time. Highly recommend them all. Fried banana and vanilla ice cream was a wonderful touch. read more

either the whole group must get AYCE or none: with the exception only if the non-AYCE eaters order bento boxes. (I'm not sure why, but this same situation happened to me this past weekend)

Yes! AYCE is always in effect. Plus, they also offer unlimited sake Monday-Thursday.

Yes and yes. Always busy. If you go for lunch I recommend you get there at 11.

they do not take reservations. I would recommend calling before you arrive to check the wait times. Once you arrive they take your name & number down & they will notify you when a table becomes available.
