We have no shortage of amazing bakeries in the South Bay, and I was so excited to see a new one open up! It's as great as all the hype I've seen build around it. Service was friendly and the line moved fast. A very efficient operation! There's plenty of seating inside. Awesome that you can get a well made latte here too. Also plenty of parking in the smaller lot right in front and a larger lot next to it. I got a citrus morning bun and berry scone, plus couldn't resist trying a rosemary garlic sourdough loaf. I had an amazing experience last Wednesday when I accidentally stumbling into this family owned coffee shop! The barista "Anahi" made this such a great experience she was extremely friendly and even tho I was new to the city she made me feel like a regular to this shop! Favorite local bakery by far. You expect much when you read about their L.A. culinary street cred and see a Tartine cookbook on their merch shelves. So far on my first trip in, had the chocolate chip cookie and brownie. Both are superior to other independent bakery options around here. I prefer their chocolate chip cookie over Lazy Acres's "The Cookie," which tend to lack complexity, overwhelm with chocolate - which admittedly feels weird to say, and fall apart way too easily. Their brownie has really good chocolately goodness, but I like Lazy Acres's brownie no nuts better because it's moister and is more upfront with the chocolate flavor. Still, I like supporting this cheerful, service-friendly, appropriately priced (though not cheap) newcomer and will continue to enjoy their provisions on occasion. Their ham and cheese croissants sell out before 10 am on Saturdays, so next time, I'll get there earlier. I bet they're good. I used to live in SF around the corner from the original Tartine bakery and had theirs all the time so I will for sure be comparing them. (BTW, food at Tartine in L.A. tastes different than the original, though they do a great job - not complaining.) I'm rooting for them to keep up the great work. I tried their two sandwiches of the day (veggie and reg) and the cheddar jalapeno sourdough. The veggie was a tofu banh mi on a sourdough baguette and the regular was a BLT served on sliced sourdough. The sandwiches are made ahead of time, but they still taste fresh. My only nit is that one side of the bread on the veggie got a little soft from the liquid in the sandwich. The bread is pretty sturdy so it didn't make it mushy nor soggy. The cheddar jalapeno bread was golden, crusty, and thoroughly filled with large pieces of cheddar cheese. Scrumptious! It wasn't spicy and only had flecks of jalapeno, so I think anyone could eat it, whether they like spicy food or not. The loaf was $13 and total was $39 for everything. IMO, the loaf was a good price and worth it. I would have liked the sandwiches to be a little bigger, but I still really enjoyed them and the flavors were excellent. read more

Finally had the chance to try this new bakery I've been hearing so much about. Happy to say it lived up the the hype! Now, I'm not a bread person (pasta/rice are my carbs of choice). However, the cheddar jalapeño sourdough really may be the best bread I've ever eaten. I had almost half the loaf on the drive home, and it's now entirely gone within 2 days (eaten plain, without toasting or butter or anything). An amazing, locally-owned bakery specializing in their sourdough bread! T&A also offer pizzas, sandwiches, pastries, as well as coffee and tea. You can tell that everything is made with love. The owners, Garrett and Lauren, are very sweet and passionate people looking to cultivate a community vibe, which is super cool and admirable. I bought a loaf of their rosemary garlic bread ($10) and it is, without exaggeration, life-changing. I have never fiended for a slice of bread like this before. I am perfectly content just eating it on its own; it's already packed with so much good flavor. But I've elevated sandwiches with this bread. The flavors, as well as the pleasant textures of the bread, have stayed with me since... I'll be doing whatever throughout the day and think "Dang I really want some of that bread right now." Truly awe-inspiring stuff. Seriously. I've also had a slice of one of their sourdough pizzas ($5 I think), with onion, chicken, and mushrooms. There was certainly more toppings but I can't remember, but rest assured it was delicious and a pretty large slice. I've had their mixed berry galette as well. I'm usually not one for sweet pastries. I'm something of a croissant guy myself, but I was feeling frisky and got that one day. I did not regret it. It was not overly sweet, and the pastry itself was simultaneously crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Just heavenly. The coffee drinks are pretty good! Not overwhelmingly spectacular specialty-level coffee, but it's certainly not terrible. The place is a bakery first and cafe second, after all. And it's nice to enjoy a decent coffee with your pastry, so I'm by no means complaining! Service is superb. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. I haven't had any questions about the breads or menus so far but I get the vibe that they're eager to help you out if you have any concerns. The place is looking a bit plain but quaint. It's very lively as the place is pretty busy! And I'm sure there will be more decor as they stay open. Otherwise, there's plenty of seating in and outside of the establishment. The coffee fix-ins are located near the front and back entrance as well, which I didn't see the first time. Also, free wi-fi that actually works! I visited on the grand opening day and the place had a line out the door. Patrons were sitting at the tables outside and inside. It was very exciting to see the new business in our area booming and I hope it continues. The owners were there and so cheerful and nice, explaining a lot about their breads. It was very welcoming. The place was clean and had a nice aesthetic. I bought almost one of everything that was left in the case (except the brownies) and could understand why some of the items were already sold out. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the items. I also grabbed a sourdough baguette. My favorites were the almond croissant and the blueberry scones. Both had great flavor and texture. All the croissants were very flaky and delicious. The chocolate chip cookie was tasty too! I ordered a latte with whole milk and it was good. Right amount of bitterness and acidity.
