I came on my most recent trip to SoCal and coming from NYC where I think we have some of the best pastries around, this spot definitely holds its own against them and continues to keep the competition stiff. I stopped by on a Saturday, the line was to the door so not so bad. I heard good things about their sourdough so I got that which was decent, good but not the best I've had. But I also got a monkey bread croissant loaf, which was...disappointing to say the least. I love Tommy & Atticus. I get their seed bread regularly which happens to be gluten free. We also get their kouign aman, chocolate chip cookie and brownie regularly. Their sourdough is also great and I love that they have a slicer so you can have them slice it (for $0.50 cents) and make sandwiches (in my husband's case, grilled cheese) out of it. Checked out Tommy & Atticus on a Friday morning and the line was pretty crazy, but after eating there I could definitely see why. Everything we tried was really well done, and nothing felt like an afterthought. My favorite was easily The Works Bagel Sandwich. It's basically an elevated lox bagel with great flavors all around and something I'd order again without thinking twice. The Mango Rice Pudding Kouign Amann was another standout. I've never had anything quite like it at a bakery before, and it ended up being one of the most memorable pastries we tried. The cinnamon roll was also excellent and honestly one of the best I've had, even though it's not something I order very often. The croissants were all buttery and flaky, and the Strawberry Matcha was a great drink to go with everything. Overall, I left really impressed. Tommy and Atticus has to be the single best bakery in all of South Bay. It's a high praise that's well-deserving of a really awesome establishment. It's absolutely delicious naturally leavened sourdough baked goods and if I could give it a 6-star review, I really would. Not only are the goods delicious, but the service is superb and it's actually great to see employees that seem to actually enjoy their jobs. They create a very welcoming atmosphere. We actually started ordering Tommy and Atticus during COVID when they were delivering fresh loaves at the crack of dawn. And then we moved away, only to return to a thriving storefront and it's really great to see. We've had their morning buns, the bagels, the almond croissants, and their coffee. I was really looking forward to this place but was a bit disappointed with my visit. For one, all the sandwiches were pre made and just sitting on the trays and you can definitely tell it was there all morning. I wouldn't mind if this was the case on a weekend where lines are super busy but I went on a Wednesday at lunch and there was zero line. I got the ham and butter baguette and you can just tell it's a sandwich that wasn't fresh. I also bought a loaf of the jalapeño cheddar sourdough and flavor wise, it was good but I had issues with the cheese aspect. I would have loved to get my sourdough sliced but they said they would charge me a fee for getting it sliced. I find this pretty absurd that this place is charging to slice your bread you bought from them when they have a machine that does it... So when I got home and sliced it myself, the cheese crust constantly came off the top of the bread and the cheddar in the bread were cubed so they weren't melted into the bread and kept falling out of the loaves which was just an annoyance every time I'm trying to slice and eat. I had my global entry appointment by LAX and I decided to stop here and grab a quick breakfast. I'm glad I stopped here because my experience was nothing short of amazing. The staff is friendly and quick. They were very helpful with recommendations for a first timer like me. I loved the layout of the bakery and the amount of seating. It does get busy quickly so try to come earlier in the morning. I ordered the kouign amann, passion fruit pastry, pain aux raisin, ham & cheese croissant, everything bagel, sesame country bread, and the works bagel. Everything I had was incredible and this is not an exaggeration. It's so hard to choose a favorite since all of them were so delicious but my overall favorite was the passion fruit pastry. Such a cute spot in an unexpected location. It def gives Tartine vibes, while being next to a convenience store. The bagels are delicious and the long lines are evidence of that. The place always seems to be full. I've also had their sandwiches which are fresh and filling. Their pastries and drinks are also good. I've had the strawberry matcha - you could really taste the strawberry and it didn't taste syrupy or artificial. I've had their morning buns, which was delicious and I love their big chocolate chip cookies. Basically everything I've had here has been good. Even if you aren't able to get their breakfast bagels (they stop selling at 10:30am) I would still get a loose bagel with some of their smear to try. I stopped by this bakery for the first time earlier this week and it is now one of my favorite bakeries in the South LA region! Everything they have on display looks and smells so good and it can take a minute or two to decide on what you want as it did for me haha. The staff here are friendly and inviting when you first walk in and they are quick at working through lines if one does form. They have plenty of seating available if you wanted to work/study here or enjoy your baked goods and coffee. I settled on ordering several pastries which were their kouign amann, croissant and their sandwich of the week with a matcha einspanner for my drink. The sandwich of the week which had salami with fresh mozzarella, arugula, pesto, and garlic aioli on their sourdough baguette was absolutely delicious and was a great lunch for me. All of the ingredients were fresh and the sourdough bread had great crunch and texture and held everything together so well. The matcha einspanner was creamy and full of matcha flavor while also not being too sweet. The plain croissant was flaky and buttery while also having a good amount of fluffiness and was one of the best that I've had to date. The kouign amann was delicious and such a sweet treat! It had a good sugar coating on the bottom and richness from the butter and sugar on the inside. Parking was easy to find in front and they are constantly making fresh sourdough bread daily if you want to come in just for that. I look forward to coming back soon when I'm in the area to try out their other pastries and grab some sourdough loaves to take him for my family! Does it live up to the hype? 100% So many kougins, so little time. Apple pie Kouign is my fave but all of them are great. Will have to try one of those fabulous-looking croissants next. The daily sandwiches are simple, I had a Veggie Sandwich which is quite light except for the cream cheese, but I liked it a lot despite not even liking cream cheese. The turkey and ham sandwich of the day has a nice balance between the sliced meats and pickled onions and arugula. A Country Loaf is a must. The iconic crust that crunches with an easy give, with a chewy crumb beneath. This is their signature loaf and you can literally eat the entire thing plain in a single sitting. Because I did. And I regret nothing. Their focus is on all things baked, sold early, fast, and fresh. Quality will cost you, and they charge about what you'd expect. Everything displayed looked visually appealing from the moment we entered this bakery. This was my third bakery on the Westside in my quest to try the best sourdough loaves. I look for minimal ingredients, which do not include rye. They have a variety of sourdough loaves here and the website states that they use a wild sourdough starter, slowly ferment for 18-20 hrs and that the loaves are baked fresh daily. We tried the Country Sourdough Loaf ($10) and the Raisin Cinnamon Swirl Sourdough Loaf ($11). Be aware that they do charge a .75 cent fee to slice, which is not mentioned when they ask you if you want it sliced. A hidden fee that I find unnecessary. The Country Sourdough Loaf is definitely delicious, with a chewy texture, multiple sized holes throughout and a bit of a tangy taste. The crust is how I like it. A bit of a tough texture and perfectly crispy for me when toasted. The Cinnamon Swirl Loaf is a denser bread compared to the Country Loaf. At first bite, you'll notice the raisins. Great to try once. The Country Loaf is definitely something I'd come back for. My husband tried the Almond Croissant and absolutely loved it! The croissant was crispy, soft on the inside and filled with a delicious almond paste. This treat for him will definitely have us coming back to this bakery. We visited on a Sunday around 11am. The parking lot was a bit busy, but the bakery line itself was not long at all. We maybe waited 5 minutes before placing our order. Tommy and Atticus should be a staple and frontrunner in the LA Bagel Wars. Teddy Flask verified #2 ranked in all of LA and I feel like it's only the locals that know. Holy smokes what a stellar bagel. I got 2 versions of The Works. One on Plain, One on Everything. Both fantastic bagels. I actually liked the Plain better in a rare turn. I think it's the Sourdoughness that made the purity of the Plain almost more flavorful and delicious. Soft and fluff, not like all the other "top" bagels in top that claim sour and then tear up your mouth on every bite. This is a pure bagel. Also seemingly unique and incredible is the schmear. An impeccable blast on flavor on every bagel, perfect complement to the bagel. Might be the GOATs in schmear alone I'll need to learn more. The rest of the fixins were great as well, you can see the absolutely gorgeous heirloom tomato slice and healthy dill bunch. $18 for the whole (two halves) but worth it. Will call not a huge fan of the cold brew and London Fog, but I'm not here for complementary menu items I'm about the bagel. Secret, out! read more

My family and I love this place so much that we've made it part of our weekly routine!
