It's a dream come true to have a bakery like Tommy and Atticus in a neighborhood so close to my immediate neighborhood. I confess, I have called it Atticus Finch one too many times. My kids and husband are super happy to correct my blunder. What is there to say about a bakery where the staff is always happy to help you and a staff who doesn't think you geeking out over how good every pastry and every loaf of bread is not weird. Seriously. Everything is perfection! My older son's favorite blueberry scone is baked here. And be sure to take note of their seasonal variations of their pastries. And if you've been a fan of monkey bread (a.k.a. Cinnamon pull apart bread) try T&F's croissant version. It comes in a loaf or sometimes they have slices. The only warning is you can pull apart a whole loaf before you even realize you've done so. Ambiance is also perfection - love seeing the flour bags stacked (food safety compliant of course) and love the clean white interior and the seating... just enough. Their garlic sourdough bread is so good! I could easily eat the entire loaf in a day (I think the fam might have finished it off in two days...). Love the cloves of garlic studded throughout! The citrus morning bun was nice and crispy and just enough sweet-- I wish there were a little more zest in it because I couldn't taste the citrus as much. The seasonal fruit tart was delicious, but I would go for a different flavor than passion fruit next time because not a fan of the seeds. The chocolate croissant was tasty- flaky with crispy layers. I think my expectations were too high after seeing all the pictures and reviews. We ordered The Works and Al Fresco bagels. They were both good, but I don't know that it was worth the wait or the money. We went on a Sat morning, so we expected some wait time, but it was actually pretty quick to order since they have a very efficient ordering system. However, once you order, it takes forever for the food to come out. My Al Fresco bagel had sooo much cream cheese, it was seriously like they put a whole tub of it, and I know some people might like that, but it was way too much. I had to scrape off most of it for the right balance and so I can enjoy the flavors of tomatoes and cucumbers. The bagels were good, but not as chewy as I thought they would be. We had a pistachio pastry that I enjoyed a lot. I would go back and try other items as other pastries and bread looked amazing. Not sure if I'd do the bagels again, but I'm glad we tried it. I tried a ton of stuff! Went twice in one day!! The croissant cinnamon buns were UN-REAL, by far the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. The works bagel was exceptional, the ham and Gruyère croissant was fantastic. The tofu banh mi was one of the best banh mi's I've ever had, and the baguette complimented it so well. I would get this again for sure. It was the right texture and light, buttery and cinnamon-y. I also got the chocolate chip cookie but didn't like it on its own but ate it the next day with coffee and appreciated it more. I gifted the fruit tarts to my cousin and I'm sure he loved them too. Not often I try out artisanal spots but this was close to home and people seem to love this place. This was okay for me on both visits. Location: On Aviation Blvd in the same lot as a Rite Aid in the far corner next to a small cul de sac. Food: I got The Works (1/2) and that is just enough if you want to eat something else in the bakery. However, I don't think I could justify the price for it ($18 for a full, $9 for 1/2) The Mocha was strong enough for me. The almond croissant would have been better if i had been at least warm, but okay. The Morning Citrus bun was fresh and flaky with a zest of lemon. I also got a ham and cheese croissant, but I'll save that for when I get home and can heat it up and enjoy it. Summary: There isn't a whole lot of seating and most customers take their purchases home. Although the items are baked fresh (the aroma alone of coffee is a heavenly) don't expect them to be hot if you plan on eating it on site. I probably would have enjoyed this more if I could have had my croissants and sandwich at least warm while eating them in the bakery. Prices are on the high side, but this is an area that is affluent and near the beach. Service is a whirlwind and efficient, but the staff is busy in the morning even on a weekday. Would I come back? Ummmmm, if I want to treat myself, yes. Would I bring someone from out of town here? Ok we are little OBSESSED. Tommy & Atticus has been on my list for quite some time and I FINALLY stopped in when I had an appointment nearby. The rest is history. We've been coming weekly now. Are the prices a little high? Sure, but the quality and service has been worth it. They have a sandwich of the week (vegetarian or meat option), variety of pasties, and fresh loaves of sourdough. And coffee. We've been getting one of each sandwich, usually a loaf of country sourdough, and a pastry or cookie lol. One visit I ordered a latte and I guess they forgot to give a cup to the barista but when I asked about it, the owner was nearby and promptly made my drink and removed the charge (thank you!!) Top five bakeries at least in the South Bay. The sourdough breads and pastries are fantastic, the coffees are wonderful, and the service is exceptional. The lines can get crazy at times I heard. But, we got through the line and received all of our item's within 25 minutes. The menu is seasonal based and I love this. The end of summer provides the best stone fruits. The peach scone was so delicious! I had that and also a kouign amann. The "works" bagel is amazing, one of the best I can say, too! It features housemade salmon lox, *heirloom tomato, which is best at this time of year as well. And everything else that a lox bagel would have. These breads and pastries remind of a place up in NorCal in Petaluma called "Wildflower". It has the same style starter, *wheat based. The space is decent and has some seating inside (communal). This, im not a fan of, primarily, but is ok. Anyway, I know a lot of you have been here many times. This is the first time coming for me. But, I have had a few times already, from friends picking up. Omg I was in town and just wanted a bagel, stopped by and there were about 20 people out the door at 8:30am. The citrus cinnamon roll was AMAZING. My daughter had the peach scone and she said it was delicious. The almond croissant was not as good as the ones we had in Paris but still bette Ethan most places where we live. I wish I would have tried the pastry with the cheese and strawberries. At the last moment I got a pumpkin croissant and believe it or not o didn't care for it, it was like pumpkin pie in the middle and I didn't like the texture. I love pumpkin but it just wasn't for me. Tommy and Atticus definitely wins my respect for their outstanding customer service. I tried their country sourdough loaf, which is what they are most known for. It was probably the best sourdough bread I've had! The crust was crispy with a good crumb and gluten formation. The inside was so soft and chewy. And for just $10, this loaf of bread is definitely worth getting! I also got their giant chocolate chip cookie, citrus morning bun, allium express bread, and The Works bagel. The chocolate chip cookie is super dense and filled with chocolate chips. The citrus morning is very strong in the cinnamon taste and was very flaky. I loved the Allium express bun for the soft, cheesy and shallot flavor. The Works bagel was also delicious! It was filled with cream cheese, smoked salmon, heirloom tomato, red onions, and capers. We need to talk about this sourdough. I've been into their bread since they were at the local farmers markets. Their phenomenal focaccia (a bread that's often conspicuously absent from their bakery these days) provided succor and comfort, so of course I was excited to discover they were opening a brick & mortar. The small menu is mostly good and their seasonal offerings are always intriguing; I relish the holidays when the stuffing-inspired scones make an appearance. The croissants are insanely flaky & the fresh baked pizza is a brilliant way to make this more than just a grab and go bakery but a destination for lunch as well. But...the sourdough...it tastes great and has a very airy interior that's moist yet light...but the crust on this may have been encrusted with igneous rock. I can tell you this bread has busted my knuckles, gouged my fingers, shredded my gums and most recently sliced my tongue. I don't know if they're baking too hot or too long or what but unless you're planning on steaming your bread or dipping in soup before consuming be ready for it to put up a fight. Come to think of it, sliced sourdough on French onion soup does sound pretty epic. Forget what I said, just make sure you have plenty of liquid to consume it with. read more

The workers are so friendly and sweet, and there's plenty of seating indoors and outside to enjoy your scrumptious pastries. The blueberry lemon scone was divine(!!), not too doughy or dense - it was sweet and zesty and also huge. Drip coffee was lovely too, a perfect pair with the sweet pastries. Tommy and Atticus is a beautiful, minimalistic bakery that feels quite sizable (plenty of space for them to make their sourdough). We can around mid-day on a Sat and there was still about 50% of pastries available and a decent amount of sourdough. The sourdough was delicious - we got the Rosemary Garlic and it was good chew, flavorful, and came with chunks of garlic which was a plus for me! The blueberry tart had a good bite and balance of sweetness. Cheese croissant was a bit of a miss - ate dry and not as much cheesy flavor. Would def come back for the sourdough! Came in Friday morning (7/19) at around 8:30 and the bakery smelled incredible. I got a pistachio cream filled pastry, almond croissant, and the works full sandwich. First the breakfast bagel sandwich was delicious. Amazing acidity with a decent amount of salmon! I didn't get to try taste the flavor of the bagel though, so I'll need to stop by for just bagels and shmear next time. Now for the pastries, the pistachio cream one was pretty good, but I was very disappointed in the almond croissant. Incredible hard (tasted over baked) with very little almond filling inside. The pastry was also not flakey and clumped together almost like it was slightly underbaked. I'm a huge fan of almond croissants and have had quite a few in the South Bay and this one is just okay. I have heard and read lots of great reviews of Tommy and Atticus, but up until now I had never been. So I decided to stop by and check out the offerings. I stopped by on a Thursday around 1pm. Immediately, upon entering I was overcome by the amazing aroma of fresh baked goods. At the same time, I was greeted by a cheerful and super friendly employee! Plus great decor. Okay, so far this place is batting a 1000! So I looked around and decided for my first time to keep it simple, so I ordered several chocolate chip cookies and brownies to try & share with friends. Note: the cookies were still on the cooling rack, so these bad boys were fresh out of the oven! Well let me tell you, they were awesome! After trying both, I reluctantly shared with my friends as I selfishly thought of hoarding them all for myself!! Lol Needless to say, the cookies and brownies were an absolute hit! Between their OUTSTANDING staff and PHENOMENAL offerings, I totally get why everyone loves this place! I can't wait to go back and try all of the other incredible looking items. I just moved back into the area, and I have always heard good things. Finally, my neighbors convinced me to give this spot a try! Everything exceeded my expectations. Food, breakfast items, pastries, omg breads, breads, breads! No more grocery store bread, and Now an avid follower of the sandwiches, haha even asked the staff if they knew what the next week's sandwich would be (on Sunday of course). PS, they do not know-haha! Service, employees, and "ambiance" here from my daily/weekly experiences have been so great, honestly. Happy and lively, a community-centered place feeling. *From my experience, this is a traditional bread shop or bakery, so to note, if you are looking for a quick coffee shop to pick up before work, look at their times and keep in mind rush hours, but it's more than worth the wait (which goes by super quick) if thinking about it. *Take a peek at their website (great job on that by the way) and overall story - it's a good one. We were lucky because they had special holiday hours when we went and nothing was sold out. Everything was delicious!! Service was excellent, even though we had so many questions. It's a cozy shop, but we were able to sit down and enjoy some of our goodies - which resulted in getting more to take home!! Highly recommend!! read more
