Found this place with the help of fellow Yelpers. Staying nearby for a studio visit and looking for a nice meal at a non-chain place. The menu has plentiful options to choose from. We got a beef shish salad and a chicken breast & beef lule kabob plate with hummus and tabule. The meats were all flavorful and perfectly cooked. The seasonings were mouthwatering. The tabule was fresh and had a pleasant little kick to it. The hummus was smooth and heavier on the tahini side. The flatbread was thin and soft. We all enjoyed the food very much. Our server was friendly and helpful. The interior is simple and casual. Seems most people order to go since COVID, but they used to have live music. Finally! A Mediterranean restaurant that has not only juicy and tasty kababs, but actual portion sizes! Every other place is expensive and you leave unsatisfied. Not this place. I was starving while heading home and really craving pork. After a quick google search I found this gem! I placed an online order at 6:30 (and they close at 7) which even I felt bad to do since I also work in customer service. Was at Costco shopping and wanted some good Mediterranean food. Found this small hole in the wall. Food is delicious and has great flavor. The service was excellent and fast. Never had seen this place before and it's a bit hard to spot but if you decide to come you will be satisfied! forgot to take a pic of the food but it's was delicious, one bad note is all the styrofoam they use to serve everything. *Back Story* A while ago, driving through Burbank we had noticed several Armenian stores, restaurants, etc. So, we had been meaning to visit one of these spots. It never materialized due to one reason or the other. I was visiting one of our customers on San Fernando road. After the meeting, hunger bug bit me. I googled and went to Tonir Cafe. I parked my car, went in, took the employee recommendation (Beef Lule), made into an a la carte order w/ 4 different meats and an ethnic drink. Food was served on a Pita bread. I received a Pita bread on the side as well. All the meats were good. The Beef Lule is a must try. There is adequate amount of aromatic spices that give the meats a nice punch. The meats were all well cooked and served piping hot. Trying la carte will be a good value for your money. Service by the employee was also very good. The old observation that "Monday's are slow at restaurants" is not applicable to this restaurant. At least not from the activity and the amount of patrons at this joint before lunch time. The tables were all occupied and there were several takeout orders also that were fulfilled in the 30 minutes I was at this restaurant. They must be doing something good. Everything was delicious! The food was ready for pick up in 15-20 minutes (30-45 minutes for delivery, which is free with min $15 & within 3 miles) Try the jalapeño hummus. Plenty of street parking. We hadn't been to Tonir Cafe since before the pandemic and were very pleased to see that they survived and were now open for indoor dining. They do not have space to build/make an outdoor patio area, so we were concerned they might not open. We went late afternoon on a weekday. Only a group of 3 were seated. They no longer have servers. You place your order, it's served in a styrofoam takeout container, you get your drinks from the refrigerator next to the bar. They call you to get your food along with plastic utensils or extra plates if you request. The food is still delicious. Their Greek salad is the best! Everything is fresh and the dressing is on the acidic side which I prefer. They did some remodeling/painting while they were closed. It looks very nice. Not as "fancy" looking as before- no tablecloths, but no matter. We go for the food and will continue to do so. One thing that concerned me was that none of the employees wore masks or gloves. Maybe some of the best lamb chops I've ever had. Great seasoning that doesn't overwhelm the meat. I did not have to dip it in yogurt sauce I ordered I'm generally not into lamb chops because most times it's not prepared well or not enough meat. This was not a problem here. I have to say this may be the best thing they make here, and they do other kebabs here too notch. I think for the noho-burbank-glendale area Tonir makes a case as the best kebab place, rivaling the more fancy Raffis(who has a larger menu and huge pricier plates)Certainly for the price Tonir is top. read more

I read about Tonir on a website that listed notable places to eat in Burbank and it was REALLY good. It seems like largely a lunch place. When I showed up at 6:30pm to pick up my order there was NO ONE in the restaurant. I was very worried. Between my buddy and me, we ordered the lamb chops, the chicken lule, and the beef lule. The lamb chop was incredible. It was crisped on the outside and medium rare on the inside. Totally juicy and flavorful! The beef lule which appears to be their signature was good but didn't stand out as much as the other items. The chicken however had great flavor and was super juicy. The pita on top was also delicious and eggplant caviar was incredible. In the future I would order the lamb chops and chicken lule combo plate. If you go with the salad instead of the rice or fries on the combo plate it's pretty healthy since they give you a large serving of salad. Be aware that the restaurant closes at 7pm and last call for orders is at 6:30pm. read more

The meat is so tender, juicy and tasty. I rarely eat any raw onions but the ones they serve with the chicken are spectacular together. You can get your plate with rice but I ordered mine with the salad. Every bit is so satisfying. It comes with 2 sides and I've had their hummus and eggplant caviar. It is so good with the pita bread, or dip the chicken in it....you really can't go wrong. The wait for the food is quite long, expect to wait anywhere between 15-25 mins. They are really cooking your food in the back. It is worth it so make sure you allow plenty of time to come here. During a recent visit to the Glendale area I found myself staying overnight near the Burbank Airport in order to catch a flight home the next morning. Never been in that area before and didn't have a clue where to eat. From an Apple Maps search up pops the Tonir Cafe. It was in walking distance to the hotel and the description from the website sounded good, so off I went. What a find. I ordered the most wonderful pork chop with rice, roasted pepper, roasted tomato, and a very large piece of pita bread. The chop was cooked to perfection and the sides were simply delicious.
