Cucumber salad
Jody K.

I've always wanted to try Tony Packo's, because of the references in M*A*S*H*, like most people. I loved the ambiance, with the signed buns and rustic feel. It seems to be very much a local favorite, where servers & customers recognize each other. But, the whole place smelled like sauerkraut to me. I got the beef sliders and cucumber salad. The sliders were just ok. I thought they should have a sweeter sauce or something. They tasted kind of odd. I really liked the flavor of the cucumber salad, but the dressing would have been better if it had been thicker. I'm glad I stopped in, but I don't think I need to go back.

I know this spot has a lot of history with many famous people having visited but I wasn't a huge fan of the food. The hot dog and paprikas dumplings tasted a bit bland to me, but the price was very reasonable. I thought the service was good though and I liked the interesting decor.

Kids gave it 5 stars! We came in on a Sunday for a family lunch. We arrived right before noon and the place was already starting to fill up. We had a great server. We ordered a variety of food to share - hot dog platter, pierogies, chicken paprikas, pretzels and beer cheese and a kids chicken finger meal. Everyone enjoyed the food. While waiting we checked out the signed buns near our table. Plus they bring the food out as it is ready so you get your cold food quickly. Overall a fun place to visit.

Best chili dog I've ever tasted, hands down. The spice is perfectly balanced. Excellent takeout service and you can order ahead. $3 Tuesday's.

Tony Packo's is a Toledo institution with so much history. We visited their original location which has hot dog buns signed by celebrities on their walls which is really neat since you get to see who has visited this landmark. The main stable here is their chili which pairs well with their pierogis topped with onions and cheese or their famous original hot dogs that have that ever so satisfying snap when you bite into them. They also have wonderful Hungarian chicken paprikas. The service and the atmosphere is fun and they even have a gift shop that sells their hot dogs, pickles and other items. This is a must try if you're in the Toledo area.

With an overnight stay in Toledo, I wanted to try a cuisine that I was not familiar with. Doing a Yelp search, I found a place that served Hungarian food. The restaurant was eccentric - decorated with all kinds of autographed hot dogs, human figured statues, and other amusing things to look at. Their store has unusual and interesting products. I found the hot dogs too salty that I could not finish. The pierogis were not flavorful, not tender or had enough filling. I never had fried pickles before so I thought it would be much more crispier. The stuffed cabbage was tender, delicious and flavorful. Mac and Cheese was good - just enough cheese and liquidly. It's a delightful place to visit - unusual, excellent service and had good positive vibrations. Based on the reviews, I was expecting something more. I was more into the food rather than the atmosphere and environment. I am giving this four stars because I did not think the food was that good - it's more comfort food at reasonable prices. It was not Hungarian enough for me.

I've been here a few times and I've only had but a good experience. It's super cute inside and there's a cute store that sells their merchandise, novelty items and food, inside too. I tend to always get their hot for and their cucumber salad. I've had their strudel before and that was good too! Their prices are very reasonable too. Food: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 Service: 5/5

One of the most unique restaurants I've been to during my travels. The food was delicious and it couldn't have been prepared any faster! I was early on the way back to the airport so I was one of the first customers of the day. The service was fast and super friendly because I was the only one there initially! It filled quickly. Have to try this place it won't disappoint.

Food really good chicken pepperkash almost as good as Grandma Roses was. Hot Dog crisp snap and great flavor. Ambiance is fun and entertaining with the famous celebrity signed hot dog buns. Service is very good no problems with anything. This is a fun most go to once if you're in the area or worth the drive to see it.

When visiting Toledo you have to stop at the iconic Tony Packos! I could eat a gallon of those Sweet Hots! 2$ Hot Dogs on Tuesdays at all locations! Fried Pickles Cabbage Roll Hungarian Packo's Dog Chili Chicken Paprikas Platter

Food here is mediocre at best. Chili dogs and fried kid's stuff. But the atmosphere is off the charts. Whole place is filled with signed hotdog buns and there's a gift shop. Stop in to see the celebrity signatures. Staff are friendly in a small town gristly way. You'll have fun.

The ambiance is very cool! Seeing all the buns around with signatures is very unique and fascinating. The food is okay. Tasty yes, however, nothing crazy. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. Overall I would go back to show my friends or family just for the experience not the food.

First things first, Packo's was packed! Our server was really nice and fast. Parking is across the street and can be difficult to cross if you hesitate. We had a cup of chili, a 5-piece of the original pierogis, and 2 original dogs. Chili was delicious! No notes. Dogs were absolutely amazing. However, I've had frozen pierogis better than these. They were chewy and too soft. There was almost no filling. Probably just stick to the hotdogs when you come if you're between the two. Overall, a great place!

They serve dinner on Friday nights and the food is very good. Everything is fresh because they do not serve dinner the rest of the week, so you know that whatever you are getting is top quality and freshly made. I have had their venison dinner, which is excellent, their roasted chicken, which is surprisingly delicious for how simply it is prepared and I love their specials. The prices are great and a whole family can have an amazing, delicious meal at about half the price of a comparable meal at the next closest Hungarian restaurant. Another great thing about this place is that they actually try to teach others about their culture as opposed to just being a cultural center for tax benefits. They offer Hungarian dance classes for children that are so unique and well taught that I am happy I can bring my daughter, even though it is a long way from my house. Although I do not speak Hungarian, nobody has made me feel out of place and since my daughter has Hungarian heritage from her father's side, I appreciate that she is able to experience and explore this lovely culture through their cultural center and their activities.

I enjoyed our exchange. He shared that he lived in San Diego before moving back and checked on me throughout my dining experience. I ordered the kielbasa from the appetizer menu. The grilled onions, pickles, fresh carrots and purple cabbage, especially the mustard made the kielbasa so succulent and savory. I have been craving for pierogi so that was what I ordered as my main entree. I had one of each flavor that they offer. It was a surprise w/ each bite because I did not know which was which. I was surprised I didn't devour the plate. My entree came w/ a fresh salad w/ house made ranch and house made roll (dense but airy!). After I ordered, I marveled at the decor. That rustic and historic vibe. There was a frame that holds music notes from Mozart and a piano to my left. I love how serene and intimate this restaurant was.
