Oh my gosh, I just had the worst experience of my life with top-tier. It seemed when they were courting my business. They were very nice. I quite liked the owner Ted who quoted me and initially reached out to me to set up my move. But here's the rub: they farm out their business to accompany, called Blackstone movers. So when there was an issue with the move, they told me that they couldn't help me because some other company had taken it over. I spoke to five different people and the woman, including Cathy and Kathleen were extremely rude at top-tier. And here's the problem: they get you on giving your initial inventory. I told Ted that we decided not to move some heavy pieces of furniture and he said that we were well below the minimums and he could not reduce the price. So we added extra boxes and then we were told by Blackstone that because of the "extra boxes" (even though we knocked off two couches, two chairs and a desk) we would now be liable to pay more than double the quoted price. They even added on $1000 bogus charge of a "non-binding fee" what the hell is that anyway? I was passed around by five different people and two extremely rude ladies at top-tier named Kathy and Kathleen, who said they were managers and they would not let me talk to Ted. They said they were taking over and they were complete jerks to me. None of them could explain Why it would be more than $1600? Finally, the foreman who was moving said there was an extra thousand dollars for the rebinding fee... It's in my contract! So they get you on the fine print! They took advantage of too young college students who were too broke and naïve to understand that they were being hustled by movers. Once they had the stuff in their truck, they gave the new bill instead of $1900 was $4600. This was a small apartment and like I said we only moved a few pieces of furniture and then about 40 boxes which are very easy to move and store. Basically this is a horrible outfit and please save yourself the agony of doing business with top-tier movers or Blackstone movers. We got scammed. read more

We used these guys to move from California to Tennessee and I honestly cannot recommend them. Many of our items were damaged and broken. A priceless painting from a trip to Egypt was punctured because "something must have fallen into it". We paid $13,000 because they move your items and said that they take apart your large furniture and reassemble at the final destination which is pretty standard for any cross country moving company. Unfortunately they didn't have the forsight to keep the parts of the furniture packed together and organized so that they are able to put back together at the final destination. Initially they tried to not put our bed frames back together and showed disdain when we reminded them that's what we paid for. When they were put back together they were put together incorrectly without using all of the pieces and so the guy just hid them under the mattress and told us he was done. We found out when we went to sleep that night and the mattress fell through and upon inspection we saw all of the extra parts he neglected to put together. One bed frame was ruined and near ruined the other. Our work desk was put together incorrectly and he was annoyed to have to do it at all. They broke the legs of a jewelry box my grandmother gave me and proceeded to hide it behind 4 boxes in a closet so we wouldn't see until they left. Lost pieces of our patio furniture so they couldn't put them back together. They dropped our ping pong table off the truck. Lamps were broken from being taken apart carelessly. They also broke an end table and, instead of telling us, threw it in the bottom of a trash can under other stuff. They did not carry boxes upstairs to the rooms they were supposed to be in....just left them in the garage. They dropped our fridge on moving day and lied about it but a friend saw them do it and told us. The owner only reimbursed a very small amount ($200) for all of our troubles and broken items. The insurance is a joke so don't rely on that. Just don't use this company, they are just as expensive as the larger companies but clearly don't know what they are doing in a cross country move and they are not honest. read more

Top tier movers are LIFESAVERS! I made the poor choice of waiting till the very last minute (3 days before the move) to hire movers, I was about to lose hope after contacting about 10 companies and being told they were all fully booked, at this point I knew I was either going to have to pay a LOT more for a last minute crew or do the whole move by myself (and to be honest I wouldn't have been able to) that's when I contacted Joe at top tier movers, he said he was booked for the days I had to work with but instead of telling me he couldn't do anything for me or trying to charge twice the rate for a last minute move he listened to my situation and offered to have him and his team come out after their other job on one of those days. I can't believe how accommodating they were even with such a last minute job! He didn't raise his rate or take advantage of my situation in anyway. He kept me posted the whole time and when he and his team showed up they were very friendly, took their time to prep everything and make sure my belongings were safe in the truck and still got everything done in great time. Talk about amazing teamwork!
