Great spot for apps and a drink. View is nice to bring people from out of town to see the bay.

Oh man, I can't believe that I haven't written my review yet! We took a day and a night in San Diego at the end of April with some friends, and we wanted to make sure that we had seafood while we were in town! We arrived and were able to get a table with a great view of the water. The hosts were super nice and accommodating, and we were seated fairly quickly. Cocktails were all absolutely amazing, and the food was delicious! the Halibut fish and chips was to die for, and the seafood tower had the freshest oysters we've ever eaten. Service was super friendly, prompt, and attentive. The next time we are in San Diego, we will absolutely be stopping back here. Thank you so much to the staff of Topsail for such an amazing time!

Ok ok this place was amazing! From the food to the ambience. I had the crab and lobster sliders. We had the oysters on the half shell that were amazing!! Oh and the July 4th drinks... yummy!! I'll definitely be back. Our server was great too...service was amazing and the music was on point

This restuant is on the second floor of a building right by the water near downtown San Diego. Ambiance: 5 stars, nex to the water, 2nd floor, beautiful view. Food: 3 stars. We got the lobster roll and they lacked flavor. The banh mi sandwiches were much better. Servie: 5 stars. We were there for a late lunch on a Wednesday and they were not busy. Serivce was excellent. Overall, the view was better than the food. But we only tried two items. The other items on the menu could have been delicious.

The first thing of note are the views ! They are amazing. This place gives rooftop lounge vibes with mostly couches and tables and a few table top seating options. They also have a full bar in the middle of the restaurant. The staff was friendly and the food was good. We ordered wings, oysters which come with this amazing strawberry type vinaigrette, and the lobster and crab sliders. I will say the sliders do need some type of aioli or sauce but other than that the flavor was good. We went during the week on a Monday around 330pm and it wasn't crowded at all but based on location and scene it probably gets crowded on the weekends and at night.

The food here was good but I would recommend the lobster tacos and the lobster sliders. The tacos were my favorite, I got the octopus ceviche and it was bland. Service here was amazing, everyone was so attentive. And the views here are also amazing, you get a nice breeze, good food and a nice drink. Which makes it a smooth day.

If you're looking for a sunny rooftop with great food and amazing waterfront views, Topsail is for you! I passed this place by chance will vacationing in San Diego. Let's get into the specifics. Food This place has fair portioned meals and appetizers, perfect for when you want a bite of food but not something super large. I ended up getting their wings with this special sauce. I was cautioned that many don't enjoy the sauce so I got it on the side. It ended up being pleasant! 4/5 Service Our server was amazing. J unfortunately don't remember her name but she asked us what type of vibe we were looking for and recommends drinks to match it. I got this frozen drink that perfectly offset the hot weather and had me slightly turnt. 5/5 for knowing how to connect with patrons! Ambiance Again, the waterfront views are second to none, and since this restaurant is on the second floor, we got to experience the San Diego bay from a better vantage point! We just felt uncomfortable with the sun and cool breeze! 5/5 All in all, I give this place a 5/5 would recommend!

If you are looking for ocean views and an aesthetic environment, look no further. Topsail has great ocean views, 90's r&b/hip hop playing softly in the background, a table fireplace, lounge furniture and did I mention the views? I ordered the Hugo Spritz and it was incredibly refreshing. Since there was some cloud coverage, I opted for a warm and comfort dish: the lobster mac and cheese. Let me just begin by telling you that I am still thinking about that dish. It was the perfect balance of cheese and generous lobster pieces. My husband ordered the lobster and crab sliders, while my son had the chicken tenders and fries. The food service was pretty quick, though the drinks took a bit longer. The wait time to get seated was about 5 minutes (pretty great for being a Saturday afternoon on holiday weekend). The downside is the parking, its limited. We got lucky and found parking two blocks away and for free. Whether you are on a date, catching up with friends, or going for a bite with the kids, this place has it all.

My favorite place to dine in San Diego while waiting for the local dinner cruise or Disney cruise to begin. The restaurant is located next to the pier. The price is reasonable with big portions as well. My favorite is the pork belly tacos! Our waiters were very friendly and attentive. We added more people to our table and they were very accommodating. This is the place to be!

We stopped by this bar while exploring San Diego. We had an amazing view of the water and the seats were very comfortable. We order a few drinks and the service was great during our visit. We will be back to try out their food soon

Passed by this location while walking along the ocean front, and decided to grab some drinks and hang out for a bit. It was a Sunday afternoon, went up the stairs and was seated right away. Only about three other parties were there. Was seated right in front of the ocean view. Beautiful patio seatings with a perfect view. The service was tentative and quick. For the drinks, ordered an Old Fashion and one of their holiday drink, Gingerbread Eggnog. Surprised with the Gingerbread Eggnog served in a dog mug, so cute! Both the drinks were delicious and perfect for the view ahead of us. Had the Pork Belly Banh Mi Bao Buns as the only food ordered. It was yummy to the tummy, bursting with flavors. Fantastic experience overall.

    Ask the Community - Topsail

    Is topsail dog friendly?

Yes. When I went there were 2 dogs.

    Do you offer HH?

Hi Debbie, We do not have Happy Hour at our restaurant. Ketch Brewing tasting deck on the south…

Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating locations?

    We only allow service dogs.

Is there cover if it rains?

There is a cover over the bar top itself. Often times we have to close Topsail if the rain gets too bad as it gets cold and rainy in the winter. We try to keep it open unless it gets really bad. I hope this helps!…

Do you offer bottle service or can we bring our own bottle? Cork fee?

Hello Nancy, we do allow you to bring in bottles of wine and champagne. The corkage fee is $20.00. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

    Is this place Kid friendly?

I don't believe Topsail is targeted for kids. That said, I know they'd be welcomed, but the Topsail crowd is primarily those over 21 yrs who are partaking in the bar, adult groups/gatherings, happy hour, etc., and there wouldn't be many other kids…

    Do you have valet parking?

    Yes

What is topsail like if it rains? ? We don't mind being bundled up, but is it rainproof?

There is a roof. If it's a rain drizzling, it maybe doable. Mostly, customers go there for the sunsets.

I know you don't take reservations but if we have a group of 20-25 people, are you able to reserve something during the day on a Saturday for a couple of hours?

Hi, Contact our group sales coordinator Michelle at mhorn@brigantine.com. She can help you with this.

How big of a group does the large couch fit?

Maybe 12 and you can add other cozy chairs to the group

    Is it pet friendly?

Hi there! Unfortunately, we are not pet friendly.

Hi. Is there a way to make a reservation by phone? I keep getting redirected to Miguels! Thanks!

We had to make reservations at the restaurant

Anything I can do to get a reservation on 4th of July and see the fireworks? We are 1st timers and just moved here. Thank you!

As of today there's no way to make reservations first-come first serve

How do you make reservations for this place?

Nobody answers that number, it transfer over to the Brigantine and they say they are unable to take reservations for Topsail because it is a different restaurant. I always have to go in person to make reservations. Is there an easier way?

Which location has the best view please?

Hi Tina, There is only one Topsail location which is at Portside Pier. It is right on the water so the view is amazing!

Are there vegetarian or vegan options?

Yes & some of our menu options can be modified to vegetarian or vegan also.

    Is there happy hour?

No we do not have Happy Hour.

What time is Sunday brunch start?

    10am

    Do they take reservations?

No it is walk in only.

We got lucky because a big booth was finishing up when I put my name down for the waitlist. We had the seafood tower (biggest) to share. I got the slab louie. Others got the clam chowder, lobster roll, oyster mushrooms. The oysters were SO good here. Can't go wrong with whichever kind you get. One I had was really fatty but salty and good. Unfortunately I don't remember which one it was. Next time I'll have to pay more attention. Also from the seafood tower, the shrimp was good, the lobster was a nice amount to share. My favorite other than the oysters was the sea bass dip thing. The ceviche was fine, nothing too special. The smoked fish dip was my least favorite because it just reminded me of tuna salad but fancy. I didn't try the tuna crudo because there were only 3 pieces so I let my friends eat it. The slab louie was good. The crab was fresh and the dressing was good. I liked that it had avocado and asparagus in it too. The mushrooms were good. I didn't try the clam chowder. I had a bite of the lobster from the lobster roll and MAN. It was SO rich and buttery and the bread looked perfectly toasty and buttery. The lobster roll was $38 (I think) but it was not a tiny lobster roll like I'm used to seeing in SF. It was a good size with a lot of lobster. Definitely worth the price here. I will say that it had so much butter, I probably would only be able to eat half. If you come here with only one other person, I'd recommend getting some oysters, maybe another appetizer, and split the lobster roll. The decor inside is so cool. They have a giant octopus hanging from the ceiling, tentacles as decor, and a wall of piranha (?) skulls (?). So cool! They also have a lot of outdoor dining if that's your jam. Definitely would recommend this place to friends!

I asked her what she wanted and she said, "seafood", so I immediately thought of Blue Water, and we drove right over. We parked at a metered spot nearby & walked in at 5pm. Do note that there is no dedicated parking for Blue Water, so at busy times it may be tricky to find a spot, but we had no trouble today. In the main dining ordering area & on the side patio, there were a few tables that were occupied, but there was no ordering line. All of us wanted shrimp today apparently, so my dad and I both got a shrimp taco with lemon garlic butter & my hungry mom got the shrimp platter also with lemon garlic butter. The platter came with 8 shrimp, jasmine rice, and a lovely, fresh garden salad. The server who took our order and brought it out to us was very helpful & nice. They have a ton of fresh seafood on offer though so if shrimp is not your thing, there will likely be another delightful offering from the sea that will suit your fancy. We sat in the side patio area and it was very pleasant. We enjoyed our experience this evening very much! The tacos were big and had more than 5 shrimp in them, plus cabbage, pico, cheddar cheese & white sauce. One taco was pretty decently sized. If I'd been hungrier, two tacos would've been perfect, but today, I was happy with one taco. Yum! Mom enjoyed her platter. It was beautifully prepared. Blue Water also has a decent soft drink selection and beers and wine, but we all just had their water and it was very refreshing! :) By the time we left at 5:45, a line was forming out the door, so we really came out at a good time. Peace!

Arrived around 5:15pm, and there wasn't a line, but the restaurant had a good amount of diners. Pretty good ventilation at the front of the restaurant, but the back part of the restaurant, likely the overflow room was where my family and I were seated. It had a funky smell to the area and there was poor ventilation. I wanted to step out but I refrained. Everything felt stuffy in that section. The only nice person was the male staff member at the front for checkin. The rest of the staff were not very friendly. The hostess who walked us to our table was not very friendly and just rushed things. Took our drink orders, and didn't say much. Just walked off. I was surprised to see the pitchers with the beverages were sitting on top of a counter outside where customers are, without any lids. Anyone can just walk by and touch or spit in them. Thought that was not very hygienic... Different sections of food. I never expect food at buffets to be of good quality or taste excellent, so the food items were all mediocre. The teppanyaki grill was... well, let's just say they use the same spatula for everyone's entreés. You load up your plate and the cook throws everything on the grill. Uses the same spatulas to cook everyone's food. If you have allergies or sensitivity to spice, then probably avoid this section. He cooked the meat for someone else's plate and then touched the veggies for the other. Used mod spice level sauce for one, and then same spatula on my entreé. My order was non-spicy, but it had a kick since the neighboring sauce got onto my stir fry. Dessert section isn't even labeled.... meaning, the baked/dessert items aren't labeled other than the gelato flavors. Crab legs were very salty. Lobster claws in the cold section were OK though. The warm lobster they serve is limited to 1 per person per serving. Long line, and if they run out, you have to wait or return when they serve again. People were waiting in line while eating their food... the lobsters are tiny, dry, and with very little meat. It is definitely not worth paying the extra for lobster night. The amount of waiting time is ridiculous and there is no guarantee that you can even get a lobster. Some groups have 1 person waiting in line and then when it is their turn, the rest of the group members (5-7) cut the whole line to each get a lobster. I was trying to get 1 for my mother, and I didn't get to eat one, but didn't mind since it didn't even look good. Rest of the foods were mediocre too. I had 1 plate that wasn't even full... lost my appetite. Wouldn't return. Hygiene.... cross contamination... Some people say this place is like the old Pala casino buffet or Las Vegas buffet- definitely not the case. Parking can be compact. Gets busy around 5:45p it seems as more people were waiting in the lobby.

We put baby in high chair although baby kept trying to eat the table. We got our usual favorites (warm lobster rolls, clam chowder bowls, fried oyster, and fried clam belly). Surprisingly the clam belly was full of sand this time! Must not have soaked in water long enough, but when we told our server they swapped it out immediately. We substituted one of our coleslaw for potato salad, and one of our fries for onion rings. We definitely will continue doing so because it is nice to try out so many different dishes! As always, order the fries well-done for nice crispy fries. It's still on our to-do list to try the chicken parmesan since we've heard so many good things about it, but I really do like my Must Order dishes (listed below). Must Order (in order of ranking): - Clam chowder bowl - Warm lobster roll - Fried oysters - Fried scallops - Fried clam belly - Fried clam strips - Crab roll Pass: - Fish and chips - Calamari

Menu is on the wall. I chose fried, breaded fish and shrimp which also came with fries and coleslaw. Also ordered their basket of thinly sliced crisp hot onions rings, so good including a really good sauce with a slight kick. My daughter ordered the shrimp cowboy sandwich, rhe bread was so soft, yum. Everything was freshly made and hot when it arrived, the way I like it. Not salty, ehixh is fabulous. Crispy and lightly breaded, perfection. Perfect portions. I ate most of it with a few fries left I would definitely come back!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I've been coming here since they opened but haven't been here in awhile,…read morebut sure have missed it. Came here during HH with my daughter... which is the best time to come, but come early as it does get PACKED! You order right when you walk up to the register and then find a table. HH is 3-6pm DAILY!! Their HH menu is the best deal and so very tasty! My HH favorites...The poke nachos, chowder fries and shishito peppers! My daughter really liked the lemon pepper wings (on the HH menu too). Not on the HH menu but two of my other favorites are the (garlicky) brussel sprouts and the spicy poke and crispy rice! HH - Craft beers are $5... can't beat that! This place is great addition to Scripps!! The owners are super friendly as well as the staff!

We ordered the fish tacos, poke nachos, chowder fries, and clams with chorizo. Our favorites were the fish taco and poke nachos. The chowder fries were good, but the chowder seemed a bit too salty (same with the chorizo and tomato sauce). The portions were larger than I expected for happy hour which was nice. The service was also fast and friendly despite it being busy. We will definitely be back to try more items on the menu!

The view is spectacular!! Service was great! Our server, Eddie, was excellent. We had a few laughs and he even pretended to not see me run into the door. *I trip over flat ground so this is not unusual* he was attentive and kind! Hope to have him as our service next time we visit. The food while in my opinion limited for a buffet, but was displayed very nicely. Pretty much everything was good. I'm big on crab legs and they did not disappoint! We will for sure be back!

The omelette bar - he lost track, it was very overcooked Seafood bar was good as far as chilled shrimp, crab. I tried one oyster on half shell & not real cool or fresh so passed on more. Lobster claws were ok a little rubbery. They serve hot butter which was good. I will say 5 star view and atmosphere, service was friendly & good. Of course the brunch is on your own, for service but they keep things picked up. Based on the overall experience brunch was not a good value in spite of " all you can eat". We always wanted to try it but won't go back.
