The interior is absolutely beautiful and creates a great atmosphere. I'd recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends. It wasn't overly crowded when we visited, but it was surprisingly loud, making conversation a bit difficult at times. Service was okay overall. The staff was friendly, but it seemed like they may have been understaffed that evening, as we often had to flag our waitress down when we needed something. As for the food, the bread tower was a little underwhelming and didn't quite live up to the hype. The steak frites, however, were excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly, the fries were delicious, and the portion size was very generous. One small drawback is that they don't offer fountain drinks, only canned sodas. Overall, the food was solid and the space is gorgeous, but the noise level and service kept the experience from being truly exceptional. The steak frites alone are worth coming back for.
The views are amazing. I appreciate that they're visible from every seat in the restaurant. I had a Bloody Mary with a piece of bacon in it. I very rarely order them but I'm glad I did this time, it was really good. My shrimp and grits was a good portion and it was tasty.
After visiting the MDSPE facility for an award ceremony my family and I went to Topside. The restaurant is on the top floor of the hotel and it has a great view of the city. Service was OK. Our server, in the beginning, seemed to be frustrated with some of the questions we had, not 100% sure why. We had a great time overall. I got the duck breast and she got the steak frites. I must say the old-fashioned was probably, top three, best I've ever had.
We went to Topside for a family celebration dinner and the food, service and ambiance didn't disappoint. We were greeted with such enthusiasm and excitement. Our service was excellent from the pre-dinner drinks to the bar to the table service for our meal. We ordered appetizers (ate it so quickly we didn't get a photo). The presentation of all food was incredible. The details were beautiful! You can tell this restaurant cares about quality of their meals and service. Will definitely be going back! The view of the city is so beautiful! I loved all the beautiful details of the restaurant too. It's inviting and elegant!
Overall, I would give it a 3.5! I've had Topside on my list for awhile now and glad I made it and I would have liked to have given it a higher rating, but perhaps when I return I will update my review then. Located in Mount Vernon on top of the Revival hotel, this rooftop restaurant offers amazing views of the city. Just take the elevator up to level R/Topside. Parking wasn't hard - I found a spot right across the street. They offer valet it seems but I would say just look for street parking. On a Monday it wasn't too busy so no reservation was needed but I would say on weekends it would be. They offer a burger and beer special for $18 on Mondays - seemed to be popular. I don't really drink beer so didn't go for that. Our server never told us her name. She disappeared for awhile and again, it was a Monday so not busy at all. My friend ordered a glass of wine and she completely forgot. He eventually got it after we had to remind her. I liked the "Suede" cocktail with mezcal. I did stop by the bar on my way out and thanked Shep (not sure the spelling) but he was very nice. The hostess was very friendly. Now onto the food. It's a very limited menu. I went with the lamb, which I enjoyed with the chimichurri, but pricey for the portions. My friend got the rock fish. We shared a bread plate which came with assorted breads and butter, but it was $14. I plan to visit again.
My daughter and I visited to jointly celebrate her birthday and Mother's Day. One of the reasons we celebrated each a bit late was to make sure we could make reservations at Topside. The views of Baltimore are beautiful. The staff is welcoming. Our server was thoughtful and made sure our evening had multiple special touches. The drinks, entrees, and dessert were memorably delicious. The chef is magical. Thank you Topside for a wonderful experience!
It has been a minute since I have been to Topside. Perched on the 14th floor, Hotel Revival, this rooftop restaurant has always been known for its views, sunny brunches and cozy dinners. Got together with a few friends for dinner during the holidays and it never disappoints. We stopped in on a Sunday, early evening around 5:30. It was pretty quiet so we were quickly seated at our table. Our server for the evening, Josh was phenomenal. Josh is pretty much knowledgeable about the entire menu and gave us wonderful recommendations from food to cocktails. And answered any questions that we had, I wound definitely sit in his section all the time. I highly recommend. Our table ordered a plethora of entrees, from the Chesapeake Cioppino( a seasfood stew with clams, mussels, rockfish, Maryland crab and fennel), a phenomenal dish and perfect for cold evenings. The Rockfish entree was really delicious and I was blown away with the crispy okra. Definitely a nice touch to the dish. It sits in a goan curry sauce, so delicious. You can never go wrong with their burger. The cracked pepper bacon along with the caramelized onion jam was really good on this burger and it was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy. We also had the Shenandoah lamb and the shrimp and grits, which were not pictured, my friends enjoyed those dishes as well. They have nice cocktail menu as well, all the cocktails are named after songs, such as Like a G6 for example. If you're in the Mount Vernon area of town, stop in and check them out. They also offer brunch and happy hour service as well. You won't be disappointed SYOY I
My husband and I had dinner at Topside last weekend before an opera at the Engineer's Club. Topside is a restaurant on the top level of Hotel Revival. It has stunning 360 views of Baltimore's Mount Vernon neighborhood (and further out into the city). People were talking up to the windows and taking pictures throughout the evening (especially at sunset). It's a really stunning place for dinner or just for drinks! We shared: the octopus (blistered shishito / black garlic aioli / peppadew oil); the tuna tataki (ponzu / pear brûlée / wasabi aioli / crispy quinoa); the blue catfish (sorghum glazed snakehead filet/duck braised collard greens/white cheddar grits/ duck crackling); and a panna cotta for dessert. All the food was good. The cocktails and were really good. And the service was really great, too - our server was lovely, friendly, and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Topside. I'd return for dinner, but I'd definitely return for drinks before a show or concert. A really lovely way to take in Baltimore (especially at sunset)!
This meal was the highlight of our Baltimore trip! We were staying in the Hotel Revival and didn't want to leave again to eat so we went up to Topside - and we were SO happy we did. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive and the view was amazing. But the highlight was the food! We ordered the lamb, tagliatelle, and the bread basket along with some drinks. Everything was 10/10 - we are still talking about it days later! So delicious and filling. If I am ever in Baltimore again, even if I don't stay at this hotel, I will make sure to head to this restaurant again.
I went to Topside on a Saturday night with two friends, and even without a reservation, we were seated immediately--major points for that. The ambiance is modern and elevated, and the view overlooking Mount Vernon is absolutely gorgeous. It honestly makes you feel like you've been transported to another city. I had the short rib dish, which was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor--definitely a standout. Plentiful paid street parking nearby made it easy to access, which is always a plus in Baltimore. The only downside? Portion sizes are pretty small, especially for the price point. This isn't the kind of place I'd go if I were starving, but it is a great spot if you're looking to enjoy good food, a beautiful setting, and a chic vibe. Highly recommend for a night out or a date spot.
The ambiance and atmosphere is always in point here. The views are breathtaking, especially at sunset. Our server was one of the nicest people, very kind and positive. The manager let us into the garden room to take some photos and all the staff were very professional and friendly. The food was great. We shared a handful of dishes (octopus, short rib, duck breast, lion's mane mushroom) and tried a couple of the mock tails. The short rib and duck were a bit in the dry side but were still very flavorful and delicious. To my surprise the lion's mane mushroom dish was by far the best of them all. Absolutely amazing! You have to try it.
I stayed at Hotel Revive and this restaurant was located on the rooftop. The view is beautiful and the vibe is great. The menu not so much. I wasn't really hungry but wanted drinks and the menu is very limited. They need more small bites. The appetizers were not appetizing. I definitely would t go back because the menu just didn't hit. But I'm giving them a four star because the service was amazing. I ordered a side of collard greens, cornbread and fries.
Wow. What a PLACE. What a LOCATION. What amazing FOOD. This was simply a phenomenal experience. I can't believe I've been here for 2 years and no one has talked about this? You have one of the best views of the stunning baltimore sky line. Coming here and seeing the sunset is just dreamy. The ambiance here is the most dreamy location I've been in a long time. It's cozy, it's upscale without being intimidating. And the food is WOW. We got the duck and rock fish and it was stupendous. The charcuterie was stunning. And I couldn't let that octopus sneak past me. When I tell you that octopus was one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth? I have been to MULTIPLE. Michelin star restaurants. And that octopus outshines. It was tender. It was supple. It was charred and delicious. Ugh. I want it again. I truly truly cannot recommend coming here enough. Come have a drink at the bar by yourself if you have to. Come witness this amazing location. You won't regret it.
Fantastic views and great service. The food is a miss and overpriced. I got the lobster pasta, which had a red pepper sauce that was very sour that overpowered the lightness and buttery flavor of the lobster. It's not that big so you would need some kind of starter. Just go for quick drinks and a cute view. read more
Really great service, beautiful views, & delicious food. I hope I can visit Baltimore again to come back here. I appreciate their creativity with non-alcoholic drinks. They offer a unique selection & variety for people who don't want to drink alcohol. I tried the hummingbird- it was good but definitely an acquired taste & I couldn't finish it all. The taste reminded me of a holiday spiced drink. I love short rib & theirs did not disappoint. It was perfectly tender (you really don't need a knife) and the whole plate had amazing flavor. If I had to complain, it would be about the short rib portion because it was so good & I wanted more (but the portion size seems pretty standard with other restaurants). read more
Lovely views from the top floor of this gorgeous building. We got drinks & the burrata to start off a date night! The burrata was delicious with the peaches, watermelon, and tomatoes. Our drinks were beautifully presented and so tasty! The service was great- we didn't realize there were cute & comfy couches so we asked to move from a table to that space and the wait staff were so accommodating! read more

This place is awesome for any occasion. The food was beautiful and so delicious all while the view takes your breath away! I will be back and I will be telling all my friends about this place, please give it a try if you have not already! Server was very attentive and very nice when helping decide what to eat out of all the delicious options. read more

Well this was disastrous! Arrived at topside for our anniversary dinner. The table next to the window with the amazing view was great! However the service was NOT! Where to start...aww yes the waiter dropped a drink on my 4 year old. The glass broke and she was on edge the entire time with a wet dress and stockings. We ordered 4 salads only 2 were delivered. We asked for 2 salad dressings on the side only 1 was delivered. We ordered 2 short ribs only 1 was received. We ordered 3 non-Alcohol drinks and they arrived at 3 different times. We asked for a glass of ice still waiting for Baltimore to freeze over I guess. We never "met" the manager, but they did offer a mocktail for the 4 year old and two preselected desserts for 4 adults and 1 child. I am pretty sure the 4 year old who was soaking wet would not have selected the flan like dessert. The second star is based on the taste of the food! I thoroughly enjoyed the short ribs and would recommend the dish however, I cannot recommend this establishment based on all of the flubs and the lack of care and concern shown by the manager and lack of compensation. read more
The view of the monument is spectacular--let's start there. Topside is a great place for fancy date night; not cheap and that view is romantic and transporting. Walking in is fun between the view and the classy restaurant design you will have a smile on your face. The one warning is that the restaurant is a little loud. Besides that there is so much about Topside to like--wonderful bar and great bar services, excellent food that looks lovely as it comes to your table, and the service os so nice and friendly and welcoming. My husband and I went to Topside for our anniversary and it was amazing! The place is absolutely beautiful and is inside Hotel Revival. The hotel is also very beautiful! They Valet if you don't want to look for parking at $17 for the first two hours. Our server was amazing, energetic, friendly, and very helpful. She gave us recommendations and even a history lesson of what we were seeing outside of the window! It was George Washington by the way lol. You get an amazing view of downtown Baltimore. The food was delicious and came out quick. They even have non-alcoholic drinks that are pretty delicious. 10/10 would recommend this to friends! Thank you for the hospitality! read more
I made a reservation for my group when I had people visiting and there were a total of 4 of us. The restaurant is on the top floor of the Revival hotel and has giant spectacular windows where you can see the surrounding city. Our waitress was accommodating and friendly. We were going to be at a high top but we were able to switch to a booth due to a medical issue of my guest. The hostess took our jackets to hang so they wouldn't clutter space at the table. The menu was limited but had a lot of delicious options. We got two appetizers of the charcuterie and ricotta. I ordered the duck and my partner ordered the ribeye. My guests had the cauliflower dish and the sea bass. The food was good but I couldn't eat the bread with the appetizers because both were served with a walnut bread and I have a walnut allergy. The food and the drinks are overall good. It's what I'd expect from a restaurant like this. Its a nice restaurant to bring an out of town tourist. I like the art in the hotel as you wait for the elevator. read more
Went to topside for my birthday, and it was great. First, it has one of the best views of the city the service and our server was amazing and the food was delicious. I had the short rib and my partner had the lobster squid in pasta. I generally don't like squid pasta, but this one was really good. For appetizers we had a shark Coochie board Which I love as a millennial because it's a grown-up lunchable! read more
Topside was meh to me. Beautiful establishment with even better views but I didn't care for my first experience. Ordered and split the cheeseboard with friends. Very lack luster. Also got fries which were great. The lemon drop my friend and I ordered was disgusting. Service was nice. Not in a rush to return. read more
In short: only the view is worth it. If not for the company and occasion, would not have rated as high. We started with the ricotta and grilled calamari, as well as drinks. The portion sizes were good, but there wasn't anything special about both starters, with the walnut bread's fruit accents being a bit overwhelming. We ordered mains shortrib, burgers, lobster pasta, and branzino. Overall, the restaurant is not worth the price and quality of the food, but the view outside is nice. The food and interior is comparable to your average diners. The interior also felt a bit dirty, and the bathrooms had very sticky and littered floors. read more

It was my first time at this spot and i have to just say it like this: The view The service The food The bathrooms We also told them it was a special event (which it was!) and they brought us complimentary champagne to toast!!! How's that for amazing service!!! The drinks - especially the sangria - are so good you'll definitely order more than 1! I recommend splitting the food so you get to try all the things - we started with the cheese board and green salad - mmmm and then we shared the Chilean sea bass (so good we forgot to take a picture) and the lobster pasta which was spicy and tangy and delicious!! read more

Beautiful views of the city. Sat at the bar which was fairly empty Bartenders and manager were friendly and helpful. Had the "yellow balloons" alcohol free cocktail Loved the presentation and taste. Strong ginger taste but I love ginger so it was great Had the green salad, fresh and tasty Had their gelato of the day. Not sure what flavor it was but it was fruity and refreshing read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my latest visit to Topside. The night started with an initial hiccup with the host. I was puzzled when she stopped my guest and me and asked, "Can I help you?" as if we didn't belong there. I almost thought that there was a private function but it was just a regular Thursday night. I told her that we were going to the bar and she acquiesced. With that bizarre exchange behind us we were free to take in the great scenery and relax at the bar with drinks. I've been on a booze free challenge for the last couple of months so I've had to be creative in building my own mocktails or settle for club sodas with twists. I was blown away by the variety of non-alcoholic options offered here. Anna, the bar manager, has dramatically expanded the non-alcoholic options for those who want the experience without the booze. I felt like the classiest of gentlemen and the drinks were tasty yet complex and didn't remind me of drinking juice. I can't attest to the quality of the food. I ate here years ago, wasn't impressed and wrote off the offerings but it's probably time I give them another chance. I'll update the review accordingly. Anyway, go visit! It's worth it for the view alone. read more

Overall: 5/10 Moments of refined atmosphere and cuisine clouded by lackluster service and overall experience. I would recommend checking this place out once because it's cool- but would not suggest making it a staple. I have been to Topside a handful of times. My experience has been fairly good, but on NYE, it was hands down one of the most frustrating experiences I have had. There seemed to be a disconnect between the restaurant the staff and the patrons. The NYE menu was all prefixe. Meaning there were select options and dedicated courses. They failed to mention reserving tables for NYE dinner meant you should stick around after dinner for the ball drop which was not our plan, so sitting and waiting on a few dishes for OVER 3 hours was beyond us. The Food: 4/10 Underwhelming. The first course was a soup or a salad. This course took so long to come out that we eventually started to keep track of it on our phones as a laughable game within our table. It was 1 hour and 10 minutes for the first course to come out to us....for soups and salads....The soup was okay the salad was pretty good. The second course followed the first's trajectory. Slow to come out but this one was tasty. The ribeye was to die for. Approximately 1 hour 40 mins after we sat down (30 mins after the first course) The third course/ mains were disappointing. First off they informed us that the lamb cannot be cooked longer than medium rare due to the prefix menu- weird but ok. Same timing issue. Here come the mains, over 2.5 hours after sitting down. Boring, bland, and dry but beautifully plated (the only thing not making it a 2/10). The desserts weren't even asked about so to avoid another hour of waiting we asked those to be packed up so we could leave and make it to our next plans. At this point, we were already late. The ambiance: 8.5/10 It's nice. You have a view over a historic part of Baltimore, on the top floor of the Revival Hotel. It's all gold and wood and ceramic. It's a great vibe for sure. Feels like you time-traveled back to the roaring 20s for dinner. The drinks: 7/10 Good but pricey. For NYE the selection was limited, nothing fantastic or worth noting. Typically, on a normal night, the drinks here are above average. The Service: 3/10 Prefixe menu- a waiter's dream. She was nice but didn't come around much. 2 of the members of our party got up to grab glasses of wine from the bar because the waiter just never came back. She avoided asking us much of anything. She did bring over water at the end once she could feel our eagerness to leave. Then it all made sense- BOOM! 20% auto gratuity....ahhh I would not take care of us either. Why take care of us at all when the $1,000 tab will include that right? It would've probably been higher if we were given more attention though! We were happy to spend, we just wish the service reflected the price. We were all wait staff at one point. read more
View | Vibe | Space View - The view here is the best city view in the inner harbor/Mount Vernon area. It is definitely the ideal sunset spot in town with unobstructed 270 views of the area. It is the best spot for a date where you want to impress or an after-work happy hour where you want to encourage colleagues to wind down. Vibe - it has a great vibe. Low house/r&b music plays throughout the day/night. Very easy to listen to as well as hold a conversation. The place is pretty trendy with an attractive and electric group of patrons. Space - there are a surprising number of tables in the establishment. They have a good amount of booths, 8-person tables, 2-4-6 person tables, and a substantial bar area that sits 12-16. However, you still need to make a reservation because it is very popular. Pro Tip: There is not a lot of parking in the area so either Uber or plan for an additional 10 minutes to find parking. Pro Tip: The drink menu shifts, so be sure to ask the wait staff what their favorites are as well as if there are drinks no longer on the menu that the bar could still make. Pro Tip: I had the half chicken, Brussel Sprouts, with fries. All of it is was pretty good given the price point and location. Not next level - but good and I would happily get both again. read more

This place offers great views and good drinks! I cant really comment on the food as i've only had fries but as the kids say "its a vibe" lmao! Ive been for a few events in the garden room which is nice and cozy and drinks come from the main bar. This room alone gives this place four stars but the main dining area is nice with panorama views of the city. Cocktails are fun and their bartenders are friendly and willing to make off menu items so that is always nice. I love rolling up to a bar, telling them a few things im feeling and letting them surprise me. Overall I have never been disappointed when I go, next time i'll give the food a try, maybe.. read more

Great views, vibes and solid cocktails! Came to have a nice cocktail during golden hour! Loved the beautiful views looking over mount Vernon and north side of Baltimore! The cocktails were definitely solid and we really enjoyed them! A little pricey, but not bad for the great views. The bartenders were so helpful in helping us choose what we wanted. My friend got the sangria, and I got the sunshine daydream which was an interesting but yummy combo of rye and chamomile. Parking around the area was not bad, easy to find street parking usually, gets difficult later in evening though. Highly recommend for drinks! I'm looking forward to trying some food next time! read more

Starting with this - Chef Amy Hessel just took over and we followed her after she left Tilted Row. We were not disappointed! She continues to be my favorite chef in Baltimore and possibly anywhere. Started with grilled octopus and Spanish shrimp which had complex smoky flavors and were perfectly cooked. Dinner was a lovely Chesapeake Gumbo (nice heat!) and a roasted chicken with confit potato and broccolini which was simple and herbaceous. Dessert for us was a hot milk and fresh peach cake with homemade peach sorbet. Amazing flavors without being cloyingly sweet. Wonderful service and the best view in the city. We loved our date night at Topside! The restaurant is beautiful with incredible views of Mt Vernon. Our service was great, our waitress recommended the most delicious cocktails and we had the Short Rib and Duck Breast for main course. Both were delicious! The only thing great about this restaurant is the view of Baltimore at the top floor of the hotel. Service was sooo slow it took us 1.5 to get our food. We were a table of two and went during the weekday. It wasn't even that crowded. I got the chicken entree and the chicken was so salty I couldn't even eat it. But it took so long to get our food that I didn't want to send it back. The apps were good but over-priced. Pricing is on the steep side and NOT worth it. I recommend only going to this place for drinks. read more
Located inside the Revival Baltimore Hotel on the top floor with awesome views of mid-town Baltimore. Absolutely beautiful restaurant with mid century modern styles in the décor and furniture. The bar is the center of the restaurant and the dining area surrounds the bar on three sides. The staff are great and very knowledgeable of the menu and had many suggestions from drinks to food. Tried the Grilled Calamari, Lobster Pasta and Seafood Rice. I would say the Calamari was good, but a very small portion compared to a fried Calamari order at any other restaurant. The Lobster Pasta had a Rose sauce that was a little off for the taste. The Seafood Rice was good as well, but lacked some seasoning for me. Overall, a good experience. read more
This place is great! The concept is amazing. Located in the Revival Hotel. The ambiance is very trendy chic, grown and sexy, mixed with views of Baltimore you rarely get to see. The service was top tier. The waiter was the absolute best! He was knowledgeable and full of charisma! He made sure we did not want for anything; very attentive. The food was just as amazing and the restaurant and service. I enjoyed the full experience Topside provided. I can't wait to visit the B-side. read more

Lunch was delicious! Lite fares before dinner. Bar Manager, Anna, was extremely friendly and gave us a walk through of the drink menu she curated. I loved the intentional Zero Proof/Judgement Free section of the menu with non-alcoholic beverages. Wow wow wow - my only regret was not getting a rooftop picture of the city view. I visited this location for my birthday - thank you boyfriend : ) , and wow - the nighttime views and the service at the bar alone are enough for 4 stars. Toss in the seafood rice and a shot of 1942 and you've got 5 stars from me. A great spot for a date night or a night on the town with friends! read more
Grilled calamari: 10/1000! Never had grilled calamari and I'll take it over fried anyway now! Soooo juicy & sucked up allll the flavor, perfect taste but if you're a texture person you might not be a fan. Think of a crunchy gummy bear or something (squishy but crunchy, odd) Scallop pasta: 8/10 pasta infused with squid ink (that's why it's black) lol but the goudaaaaaaa on top sealed the deal! Loooove Gouda. Short rib: 8/10 juicy & tender! Mashed potatoes was the perfect match. Figgy with it [drink]: 10/10 omg I loved it! I had a lovely dinner experience for Baltimore Restaurant Week. We came for drinks and found out about the running special menu. The food was delicious. We chose the Branzino and Lobster pasta as our entrees. The cocktails were on point with the perfect amount of kick (Vampire Blues and Whiskey sidecar). The dessert - wafered panna cotta, had a nice filling as well. This is a venue I visit sparingly due to the parking, but I enjoy my experience every time I go. The dinner ambiance here is very romantic. read more

Writing this review a month later because I'm still thinking about the lobster pasta! The lobster was cooked very well and with the squid ink linguine it was perfect. Enjoyed the views and the service as well. I'll definitely be back and hope to check out the speakeasy downstairs next time. read more

Southern American style cuisine . A treat before the winter storm, one of the best restaurants in the area, all the food is very good. Not just any good, but "oh my god" level of good, especially the dessert Napoleon, a must try. Tomorrow, we have to leave in the early morning, miserable wind and rain, all the way to the north.
