I really like this place. It has been in business for a long time. This is one of the place that I know that serve skin on the chicken teriyaki. So good but so bad and moist. We usually order that and the short ribs. It's a little bit out of the way for us. But the key is to call in your order and ask for the teriyaki sauce and salad dressing on the side. That way your meal is not all soggy by the time you get home. There's two small parking lot on both side of the building, but don't let that deter you. People usually get their order and go. From my observation, there's a lady that works there, she's very friendly and nice, she seems to remember what customers order. Either they go there a lot or she has a good memory. There's additional charge if you use credit or debit card, the sign is located near the register. They're pretty transparent about it. Overall, I feel the price is pretty reasonable. read more

They are likely the highest-priced teryaki in the area, used to be very busy and good food. Prices for all that they serve is not posted; the proprietor appears not to be very trusting of her employees or customers. I purchased the chicken teriyaki the other day, half of it was dried out and over-cooked, while the rest seem rather raw. All of the food is put in one container, rather than the salad put in a separate one. This hit the spot right after a morning of hiking. We ordered the chicken teriyaki and gyoza combo ($11) and a bowl of miso soup ($3). Portions of the plates are large! You get a lot of meat. We also tried the beef teriyaki someone else had ordered. The gyoza was decent and the miso soup came BOILING hot and had weird soggy fried tofu in it instead of soft tofu which I'm used to. However, the teriyaki was delicious, tender pieces of meat and rice swimming in sweet teriyaki sauce. We liked the beef better than the chicken, but they were both good! It's a tiny place and was PACKED when we went. Service is rushed and harsh, but to be expected in a lil hole-in-the-wall like this. Disclaimer: Due to the pandemic, this order was a take-out. Actual in-restaurant experience may vary once the business fully reopens its dining area. Recently, I have been trying to look for some relatively affordable take-out locations in the Mt. Baker area. Having driven past Toshio's every day after classes, I felt that I needed to give it a try. Due to the pandemic, the restaurant was only serving to-go orders, but the staff were extremely friendly and the food came out the door quick. Being a serious Chicken Katsu enjoyer, I decided to try out Toshio's interpretation of the dish. The meal came with a side of rice and salad, and was overall a decent value for the $15 dollar price tag. The chicken itself was quite tasty, but unfortunately ended up being quite dry, with overly crisp ends on either side. While I personally like a crispier version, I feel as though it could have been done better. The rice was also quite tasty, having been smothering in Katsu sauce. However, the salad was woefully average with a overly thick dressing. Overall, my first experience at Toshio's went pretty well, and I will definitely be coming back to their location to try their teriyaki. As such, I think a 4/5 star rating is suitable. read more

Decent teriyaki. Their chicken is tender and has some light skin on it which I love. Lots of salad and tasty dressing. The rice was a bit overcooked today but that's not biggie. Love their deep fried gyoza and shrimp tempura. Sauces that come with it are legit too. The only negative was that they forgot the spicy teriyaki sauce for one of our entrees. Ate here for the first time. Ordered chicken teriyaki, beef short ribs and vegetables tempura. The teriyaki sauce is missing a bit more sugar and I feel the meet needed to be grilled a little bit longer then it would be perfectly tender and well charred (maybe even cook the meet in the sauce). I actually enjoyed the skin on the chicken but I know some others would not like that. Veggie tempura was good. I used the salad dressing to add a bit more acidity and sweetness to the teriyaki sauce and that seemed to do the trick. Over all 3/5. read more

AMBIANCE No frills here, but no complaints either. Bus your own table. They keep it clean and offer outdoor seating by the parking lot. The service is always quick and friendly. FOOD Toshio's does teriyaki a little differently from other spots. Their sauce perfectly captures the umami flavor of what teriyaki sauce should be and doesn't stray too salty or sweet. The chicken cuts are always fresh and come piping hot off of a grill rather than a pan or flat top like other teriyaki joints. The large grain rice used absorbs the sauce from the chicken well while not becoming mushy like a short grained rice would. The salad is crisp and the dressing is lighter to cut through the richer flavors of the rice and chicken as opposed to a creamy dressing that would make the dish too heavy. OVERALL Toshio's is THE spot for chicken teriyaki. A dish can be so simple with just three components, but the flavor profiles of the chicken, rice, and salad just seem to work in perfect balance. This place is really busy especially in the lunch hour. So always call ahead for your take-out order. During COVID-19, you wait outside for your food and they operate out a window. So I do feel safe getting and waiting for my food. There is parking in front and behind and nearby street parking in the residential area. Space: You'll wait outside at this place so bring a hood or umbrella during COVID times Tips and Tricks and Covid Deets: I set myself up for failure every-time I order here. Call ahead (I hear people complain in the line that they can't get through) but I've been able to get ahead- give them your name and then when you pull up I've seen this go two ways 1. Wait in a long line (people are always confused if it's the order line or pick up line so people like me end up waiting on accident while others jump ahead and pay and grab their food) 2. Jump the line (Please ask though- again, mixed situation) and tell them you have food. My recommendation for toshios would be to create two sides and sign- one for ordering and one for pick up but that's based on my inability to be assertive with a mask on so don't let that be a deterrent to visiting. Solid spot for some tasty teriyaki. When it comes to teriyaki, the formula for success isn't too difficult. Good sauce, a plentiful amount of chicken, and a cheap price will do the job. Toshio's checks all of those boxes for me. One thing to note about their teriyaki though is that they leave the skin on the chicken. I'm not sure if other places do this as I've actually never noticed it until I had it here, and it was good. Personally I thought It gave the chicken a nice extra level of texture. With the current dining restrictions in place, Toshio's makes it super easy and safe to the point where you don't even have to go inside. You can order and pick up food right from their pick up window. It's very safe and definitely appreciated. They also have their own parking lot! read more

Best teriyaki I've had in Seattle in a long time. Ever since Teriyaki 1st in U-District closed, I've been on a search for a good teriyaki place to fill the void, and I've finally found it here. The teriyaki served here has the skin on, which is really good. The thing that stood out the most was how moist the teriyaki was! Each bite was so enjoyable. First time (and last time) going here after a quick Google search of "nearest Terriyaki places near me" that led us to an unfortunate spot. We ordered a chicken terriyaki for 8.49 and a combo of chicken and beef for 11.49. We ordered to go to eat at Jefferson park, 8 minutes away. When we got to the park, we opened the box to find the salad with dressing already on it and very little portion (compared to other terriyaki places). The salad was wilted and mushy because of the dressing already there. The beef was very fatty and little. Overall we threw away our leftovers and thus the birth of this review came to be. Every single time we go back home to Seattle, we have to make a stop at Toshio's. It's like reliving high school all over again since this was the spot to pick up some bomb teriyaki! When it gets busy, it gets busy and there's slim to no parking so we usually have someone wait in the car and the other goes in to order and wait for the food if we don't want to dine inside.
