We had a 5:45PM reservation and were seated promptly. There was a ~20min wait when we left, but it goes fast. Khao Soi - really creamy, awesome different textures between the soft noodle and crispy toppings, and nice mixup with the pickled mustard greens in it. Love the coconut richness. 5/5 Pappardelle (4/5) was not as chewy on the noodle as I remember, but still excellent portions and really solid brisket. The lettuce wraps, roti, and pandebono were all still fantastic. They don't have any frozens anymore, so I got an Enter the Dragon which was strong and refreshing, nice fruity note. Traveler's will be missed and I sincerely hope the best for all the staff in finding their next chapters. We came by during Happy Hour after hearing the unfortunate news that Traveler's Cart is closing. The place was absolutely packed, which I expected after their announcement. Happy Hour Menu Enter the Dragon - Very strong flavor profile. Not my favorite vodka drink--it came across a bit drier, almost like a gin cocktail. Still, it wasn't bad. We were really hoping to get the Good Morning Vietnam. Pandebono - Still as greasy as I remembered. I think I was definitely infatuated with the guava butter, haha. But gosh, you can't eat more than a few of these without being overwhelmed by the sheer fattiness. Goodbye, my LDL levels. Roti Canai with Curry Sauce - Still a banger. Uncle Chin's still holds the top spot for roti, but I love the Happy Hour prices for this one. I'm definitely going to miss how easy it was to come here for a small meal. Vietnamese Beef Lettuce Wraps - Eating these with your hands hits different. I wasn't the biggest fan of the lettuce wraps last time, but this visit completely changed my mind. The layering was complex, with different flavor notes emerging as the dish became more infused, and the crunchy topping was phenomenal. The combination of crunchy noodles on top and soft noodles underneath was honestly ingenious. Pappardelle with Brisket Ragu - One of the most interesting things about Traveler's Cart is how effortlessly they balance different cuisines. You can go from an Asian-inspired dish to an Italian-inspired one without feeling like they miss a beat. It never feels like they're exceptional at one cuisine and merely decent at another. Instead, they're consistently good across everything they choose to tackle. I'm not a pasta fan by any means, but I tolerated this dish with far more enthusiasm than usual. Unfortunately, we made it here on the last day this restaurant was open. I love the way they see arrangements were in the unique style of the booth seating. You were here for happy hour. We decided to choose free items off of the happy hour for samosas and Thai queso where our favorites I had the dragon fruit drink, which was delicious and reminded me of a version of lemonade. My Siblings ordered a drink that reminded them of limeade, but was also delicious. My sister chicken curry was presented in a different way than she's ever had it before. She wasn't the biggest fan of the crispy toppings, but she did say it was flavorful. I got to try my brother's meal, which was also delicious so I hate that I can't come back and get that meal! I went here during lunch time and the happy hour is a pretty good deal. They had a combo where you can pick an appetizer,entree, and dessert. The atmosphere gives you a nice cozy feel of a "street food market" place. I thought this place had unique items on the menu. I tried the chicken pad Thai and it had a lot of flavor and was a good portion. I also tried the pandebona, which reminded me of a mochi donut. It was chewy and had cheese inside but the texture was soft. For the dessert portion I tried the sticky rice which honestly could've been better. I didn't get the authentic sweet coconut richness from it. I had the chewy texture but the flavor seemed more so thrown on top instead of an infused flavor. The last item I tried was the fish and chips. The fries were nice and crispy and the fish had a nice crunchy batter layer on the outside. It was good. The tried a few drinks and they were ok the pandan old fashion was unique and strong but honestly not for my taste. If you like old fashions this drink would probably be for you. I stopped by here for brunch the other weekend after a recommendation from a friend, and it did not disappoint! It definitely seemed a bit sleepy when I walked in, but the staff were very friendly once they spotted me and the server (who was also bartending) gave me some good recommendations. I did have my heart set on trying the Crab Okonomiyaki, which was completely worth it. It tasted like a way better version of crab cake, and I've had my share of crab cakes from Maryland. My only complaint would be for the prep staff to watch the shells, since I did bite into two little ones. I've also had the Hawaiian Mimosa, which sounded like a fun way to start my weekend. I loved traveler's cart! We went for brunch on the weekend and there was still a lot of parking. They have now converted to a sit down restaurant. My favorite was the butter chicken samosas! There was so much savory chicken flavor packed into every bite, highly recommend. I had the roti canai as well but preferred the samosa more. If you're a fan of Traveler's Table, you will enjoy this casual sister restaurant. They've apparently changed their model to full service, however it was counter service when I visited last year. The service during my first visit wasn't as good but it did improve the second time I visited. They have two small parking lots on either side of the restaurant as well as street parking. It's Montrose, so parking can be challenging during peak hours. As I mentioned, it used to be counter service. Once you ordered, you were given a pager to take to the table. They had QR codes at the table to order more food and drinks after placing your initial order if needed. On my first visit, I unknowingly received a faulty pager. I ended up waiting 45 minutes for my food. What was frustrating is that we had to ask multiple employees to check on my order. We first tried to ask one of the food runners to check on my food, but he either didn't understand or didn't care to help. We then watched one of the employees (who may have been a manager), chat with her family at the table next to us for a few minutes before having to wave her down. She had no situational/environmental awareness. She was apologetic and offered a free drink or dessert on the house which I appreciated. I had another interaction with her on a different visit and it was much better. On a positive note, the food that I've had has been very good! I've tried the Spicy Okra Balado (4/5), Chef's Fries (5/5, though they forgot to bring out the Ketchup and Mayo), European Kale and Brussels Sprout Salad with Grilled Salmon (4/5 - I really enjoyed it, but it was a little heavy on the dressing) and the Lomo Saltado (5/5). My best friend had the Beef Rendang and said it was flavorful and tasted authentic. I've tried a few of their cocktails. The Italian Job was a little too tart for my preference. I've also had a French 75 and the Slumdog Millionaire. The drinks are fine, but the food is really where it's at! After we finished eating, we got to chat with an employee who was working the to go counter and she was really nice. She told us that the currency on the walls was real which was really cool. We got the chicken parmesan and falafel bites, both were AMAZING! I'm usually not too wowed by marinara sauce, but I could actually taste the difference in quality compared to generic marinara sauce from the store. The portion of chicken was more generous than most restaurants, with it covering a majority of the plate. The falafel bites were crispy on the outside, flavorful and moist on the inside, and the beet hummus sauce complemented them very well! Went for the Global Fried Chicken night and had the Indian spiced fried chicken. It had potential but definitely missed. The chicken was more batter than meat. It would've been better as boneless chicken pakoras (IYKYK). The spice was just thrown in after frying the chicken to the point that I had to keep wiping my hands from all the powder. I enjoy the private lot for parking outside. The inside is cozy with dim lighting, though window let in plenty of natural light. There's a full bar along with wooden table and booth seating. The entrance leads into the line to order at the counter before grabbing a number and seating yourself. Pappardelle with brisket ragu: I liked the combination of flavors in this dish, and it was very homey and filling. The pappardelle was slightly waterlogged and overboiled so that it fell apart quite easily. The extra pasta water mixed in with the ragu to make a watery sauce that wasn't the most appetizing. Lamb kofta kebabs: The beet hummus stole the show, both visually and taste wise. Lamb kebabs were fine and cooked nicely, but a touch underseasoned. The pita chips were slightly stale. I didn't find the other two sauces added much to the dish. Gochujang cucumbers: I'd pass on this dish. The cucumbers were sliced much too thinly to hold their own against the tangy marinade. They would have been better as smashed chunks or medallions. I didn't taste much gochujang in the mix to be honest, it was mostly a mix of too-sweet tanginess. I can confidently say that I have tried nearly almost everything on the menu from Traveler's Cart. And that's extremely rare for me to say. When I like a place, enough to explore the entire menu, that's when you know a is damn good. Everything that I've had has been nothing but amazing. From brunch to dinner, nothing has disappointment me one bit. I noticed that each time I have had something, I knew this was the place to try and nothing would go wrong. There's no reason for a "go-to", I'm going to explore the rest of the menu and know I'm going to love it. A casual spot with plenty of parking. Counter service, but an intimate setting can be a casual date night or hangout with friends. The vibes, the food, the drinks, its just a great spot. read more

Really wanted to love this place because travelers table is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston, and maybe it was what we ordered also, but it was just very average did not have much flavor at all. Came for a post-thanksgiving lunch to catch up with a friend and this was a great spot! we made a reservation just in case but arriving at 11am on a Friday was no issue. it did get more packed closer to 12/1pm though. Our server was very friendly and suggested items off the menu as we mentioned it was our first time (we've been to traveler's table before though!). I got the layover lunch special with chicken pad thai, samosas, and the custard pie. my friend got the yellow chicken curry with sweet plantains as an appetizer. we also shared the mango sticky rice. everything was delicious!! nothing was left uneaten and portions were just perfect. my only suggestion is that our server was a little pushy on us ordering more food/drinks but I can understand that it's her job! still 5/5 stars though! read more

The good: Fun ambiance, tasty drinks, and a farro-beet salad that made for a fresh, healthy lunch. The fries were solid too (though, really, how wrong can fries go?). The not-so-good: The food overall didn't wow me. The roti canai was bland by Asian standards, the butter chicken wrap was underwhelming, and the peri peri chicken fell flat compared to other versions I've had. I'm already skeptical of places that serve so many kinds of dishes and cuisines because like you can't be good at everything. Unfortunately this place proves that. Casual upscale spot for when you're feeling adventurous and in the mood for a quick passport to delicious international cuisine. Great place for groups too! I still think about the lomo saltado. Vibe: Elevated casual food hall vibes with some fun international touches - kinda like an elevated modern food market type of deal. Plenty of seating with all kinds of table sizes make it a very easy place to accommodate any size group. Service: Employees are helpful and staff keeps the place very tidy and clean. You order at the counter, take a number, and they bring the food to you. It's a nice touch that there is dedicated staff for taking away plates as soon as you're finished and cleaning up the tables. Food: We ordered the butter chicken samosas, lomo saltado, and plantains with ice cream dessert. Samosas were fantastic! Lomo saltado portion was generous. The marinated steak was incredibly tender and flavorful, the sauce was amazing, the rice was aromatic, and the fries had a good crunch. We were not a fan of the plantains as they were very sweet and prepared in a way so that the texture was kind of jelly-like..and the ice cream was not very creamy, but kind of sludgy. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying something else in the big menu! read more
