I've always wanted to eat here, in the midst of beautiful and historic Union Station, but was always only in the building because I was on my way to or from somewhere else. Today, though, due to a lucky happenstance, I got to. Alejandra was fantastic: welcoming, ready with recommendations, and great about checking in with me throughout the meal. I had the salmon niçoise, which was delicious. The fish was flaky, perfectly cooked, and seasoned well. The red-wine-and-dijon vinaigrette accented all the elements of the dish and my glass of grenacha blanca was a tasty pairing. Afterwards, I wasn't ready to leave the area, so I moved over to Traxx Bar across the way, where Johnny served up some amazing cocktails and conversation. Made some friends over the few hours I spent hanging out, which was a very nice bonus. An awesome day and a tremendous experience at Union Station--exactly how it should be. There is something nostalgic about anything in Union station and Traxx is no exception. Very casual eatery with jazz music playing in the background creating a very smooth vibe for lunch. The Cobb salad is very good. Not drowned in dressing so you taste the medley of flavors. Service is good not over the top attention but you are not forgotten. Such a cute little place, not the newest amenities, but it has a lot of charm. My sister and I got some snacks & drinks here after we got arrived on the train. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive! I appreciated the drink rec, I ended up getting the Collins. The brussels sprouts were delicious, and we also really enjoyed the prosciutto toast! We ended up coming back before happy hour ended at 7, but we went to Traxx Bar instead of the restaurant. If you are solely looking for drinks, I recommend going and sitting at the bar. You can sit at the restaurant but the server has to walk all the way from the bar and give it to you, so it's probably easier on them if you use the seating area at the bar (there's plenty!) just a tip. read more

Traxx can be a perfect people watching spot. The drinks tend to be good, but this definitely a spot to watch some of the madness that is union station. 6/25/2025 - Arrived at the L.A. Union Station at 2:45 PM and found that the next available Metrolink train is at 4:30 PM, decided to stop by at TRAXX Restaurant for a casual dining. The ice tea is very good, and the signature burger is 4 stars - the meat is never-frozen, but freshly grounded. Unfortunately, the meat has no flavor, but tender and juicy! My waiter service is 5 stars - very friendly and came to my table four times for refilling the Ice Tea once (one refill is allowed only) and delivered the burger, etc. Sincerely wish some billionaires can donate some money to upgrade the TRAXX sofa (See the photo for details) to enhance the ambience of the restaurant and image of the L.A. Union Station. No free WiFi access is available at the restaurant - Wish the L.A. Union Station will provide a FREE WiFi there, similar to a large shopping mall or many Asian Nations' Railway Gateway where a FREE WiFi has been provided by a centralized organization (e.g., LAX Free WiFi). It would be a pity when LA 28 begins if the L.A. Union Station does not provide a FREE WiFi access from the richest nation on earth! read more

Traxx is truly a hidden gem inside Union Station! We had an amazing meal here and were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed everything, from the food to the atmosphere. We ordered the chicken cutlet ($19), which was house made and full of flavor, served with fresh herbs and a tasty house-made pesto that really tied it all together. The Birria grilled cheese ($15) was another hit; incredibly rich and satisfying with tender braised beef, melted cheddar, and a perfectly crispy, Parmesan-crusted sourdough. Definitely comfort food done right! You can also add fries or a side salad (we went with the Cesar salad - definitely worth the upgrade). Generous portion and refreshing. The ambiance here is so nice & nostalgic. They play jazz throughout the restaurant and bar (which has its own Yelp page), which creates a relaxed, timeless vibe that feels like a step back in the best way. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. There's also a large outdoor patio on the restaurant side; it's tucked away and feels like a quiet escape in the middle of the station. A perfect spot to unwind or even host a special event/dinner. Our big group sat outside, and it was my first time trying out this restaurant. The weather mostly felt nice and just a tad chilly at times. We had the grilled cheese & tomato soup, Traxx burger, chicken panini, veggie burger, and hummus. I ordered the grilled cheese & tomato soup ($16) which also came with a free salad. Including my share of tax and tip, I paid $20.40 for my meal. I liked dipping the sandwich in the tomato soup. It reminded me well of comfort food, and I felt full afterward. The tomato soup's texture leans more on the thinner side. The menu didn't say that the grilled cheese & tomato soup comes with a free salad, but our server let us know when someone ordered it. I initially wanted the chicken panini but switched at the last minute. Regarding the dining experience, I had the impression that our server got surprised that we had ten people in our party. Before taking the Amtrak to Santa Barbara, I came early to Union Station to explore this gorgeous building and take time to have lunch. I was super happy to see they had a great sit down option at Traxx right past the entrance of the station They had a private event happening on their patio so I opted to sit on their interior patio which offered great AC and people watching seating I went with their popular grilled cheese and vegan tomato soup combo. It hit the spot! The soup doesn't have a traditional creamy base and was a bit light on seasoning...so I added a few dashes of Tapatio which boosted the flavor a couple notches The ambiance was great and staff was super friendly. For a train station restaurant, this place was pretty great. The IPA was smooth and easy to drink. The brussel sprouts were really great. The posole was decent, and my bf really enjoyed the chicken focaccia. They are a bit heavy handed with the salt, but the ambiance was cute. read more

High end American grill classics at a reasonable price served INSIDE Union Station? Yes please! This place is a must visit if you are in DTLA or happen to be in Union Station... it is a very unique experience. I really enjoyed the 'patio' seats where you could people-watch while you wait for your food, there's never a dull moment in the station. While service was a bit slow (it wasn't busy), it was worth the wait, the food was delicious! My son had the fried chicken sandwich, and I had the angus burger. What an absolute mess this restaurant is! Today, from the moment we were seated to the moment we left was an hour and forty five minutes for two chicken sandwiches and a grilled cheese. You are served by the order you come in (per the host) so our table wasn't even served water for 15 minutes (although there were many empty tables both in and outside). After we ordered our food, we sat for an hour- AN HOUR- waiting for our food with a four year old. Not once did our waitress (tall with tattoos) check in on us. We had to flag her down to ask for a refill-she didn't say a word to us- just took the drinks, came back 10 minutes later, and dropped them at our table. She then avoided us for the next 50 minutes while we waited - no updates, no checking in, no apologies. Finally, the food came and the chicken was 1/3 the size of the bun it came on. I asked for the bill the moment our food arrived on the table since I knew it would be another long adventure to get it, and it did indeed take her 15 minutes to drop it back off. You might think a lot of things about this silly little restaurant that's been here forever. Then it must be a dive because it's the only sitdown restaurant in Union Station left. That they must really never care about their food because there's no competition. But you would be wrong in both cases. Let's start with one of the best things on the menu authentic Belgian french fries. These are twice if not thrice fried and served with some of the best aïoli accompaniment you'll ever find. Then they have strange things on the menu such as an outstanding hummus. They make great pastas Italian style. They make great pizzas. I've never quite figured out why they don't get more of a nonstop clientele, but it's probably because so many people are just commuting to and from work and home that very few think about actually having dinner in Union Station. But they're missing one of the best features of this Grand old location. Both the restaurant. Barr across the way have been Staller examples of a Los Angeles history of great entertainment And fine dining available at reasonable prices. Excellent lunch. I cannot for the life of me wonder why some people have been leaving bad reviews. I can only imagine they're deeply unhappy in their lives. I had the trax burger and added fries for a reasonable additional charge. It was superb. Cooked to perfection and the bun to sauce ratio was good so the burger didn't collapse. Great Quick Bite at Union Station! This is a fantastic spot for a quick and delicious meal inside Union Station. What I love most about this place is how fast the service is--perfect for travelers on the go! My parents were visiting me in LA, and before they headed home, I wanted to make sure they had one last great meal. This spot did not disappoint! The only thing that caught me off guard was the birria taco--it didn't come with the Juice ... the sauce, which is a must for me I mean it's a must for birria tacos right ?!? We ate here after going to the train show on Sunday 9/21 in Union Station. Eight of us were at an outdoor table at 2:00 PM, we did not get our food till 3:30 PM. Our waiter let us know the big delay was because they were giving priority to people placing food orders at the bar. He did a good job as it was not his fault for this inexcusable issue. My food was not that good, I got a chicken sandwich and fries and with the tip it was $29.00 dollars. I would never go back there of course in paying that kind of money to have that kind of service. The owner needs to get off his butt and fix that issue and improve the quality of the meals too. He will definitely not get returning customers that often, if at all. read more

For some reason I thought Traxx was really elegant at one time. Maybe it was. This review is for the bar. Went on a Friday night and I had a drink at the bar with friends. The bar is across the hall from the restaurant, I guess. The restaurant shuttered early on a Friday night so I'm not sure what that was about. The bar is a very corporate looking, train station bar. It's not craft in any way. They don't have any good original drinks. Bartenders were like you'd get at a stadium, not conversational and seemed frenzied even though there were just a few people waiting for drinks. Two smallish gin martinis were $40 with tax and tip. I came to the Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles. On my way to visit my sister I stopped to have some dinner at Traxx Restaurant before my train ride up north. Drink: I ordered a Michelada it was really good. Appetizer: I ordered the Brussels sprouts with bacon and goat cheese. It was a bit salty for my taste but delicious non the less. Main dish: Angus beef cheese burger lettuce wrapped with some garlicky yummy fries. It was really good big and beefy just the way I like it!! Service: The service here was exceptional! I noticed that they treat everyone very well. Even the unexpected customer like in my case. My son surprised me and he sat at my table. The waiter came by greeted him very friendly and took his order. Conclusion: The restaurant is conveniently located inside the Union Station, it's very convenient when you're about to travel but have some time to spare like I did. I had 2 hours to spare. TLDR: Stay Away! Overpriced, cold, nasty food... It would have been alright but I don't enjoy cold meat and potatoes. I ordered the braised beef. It wasn't refrigerated but it had absolutely no warmth when it got to me. I suppose it could have been refrigerated but if so they left it out to thaw a bit, still awful though. It was served over similarly cold mashed potatoes. I ate it because I was hungry and didn't want to be hungry anymore, but I didn't enjoy it at all. It was $24 too, but even at $5 it would have been severely overpriced for what it was. There wasn't any mention that it would served cold on the menu, if there was I certainly wouldn't have ordered it. So I strongly feel that I was bait and switched. I was on a date so I paid for it without complaining, the kitchen had closed when I finally got it so all I could have done anyway was have it taken off the bill. Here's a detailed review of the dish, it had that bad taste that cold meet has, the fat had solidified from being cold and also changed in flavor in a negative way. The fat had a mealy texture which was also unpleasant and instead of complimenting the meat just remained as blobs of fat as they were chewed, like cold fat chewing gum. It's just as unpleasant as it sounds. Overall a pretty awful experience at this place. I saw a sandwich place and convenience store near the platforms and would definitely recommend that option to anyone who needed some quick food and wasn't able to leave the station. A few energy bars, bag of chips, or something like that from the convenience store would have been a major, major, upgraded experience over what Traxx has to offer. There are a bunch of Mexican restaurants on Olvera Street right across the street if you can leave the station. Overall stay away from this place unless you enjoy leaving your plate on your table for twenty or thirty minutes until all the heat leaves it to start eating it (they do it for you here). read more

Horrible service. My son and I sat for over 20 minutes before I had to ask our server for some water. She had waited on the couple next to us. She gave them menus brought them water and food and did not even acknowledge us. It still took 10 minutes to get our water. 15-20 minutes later She took our order. She didn't even refill our water glasses. After another 20 minutes, I had to leave my son there while I had to buy water and a Coke Zero at a store in the train station. We now at almost 90 minutes later still waiting for our food. I again had to find our server to ask about our food. Also I might add, that the policy of the restaurant is to pay your bill at the time of the order being placed. Server did that people have a habit of leaving without paying. After this experience, people more likely get sick of waiting and walk out and they get stuck with prepared food. So absolutely disgusting with this place. I asked to speak to the manager. Manager did come to speak with us. She asked what she could do to make this right. I mentioned to her that as we were waiting for our food, I went on Yelp to read their reviews. OMG there were others reviews about a tall young girl with black hair and covered in tattoos!!! The same one that we had. Never never will I return. Way to many other choices at Union Station. Traxx is located on the Alameda Street side of Union Station, near the entrance. There are 2 section, the restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Across the walkway is Traxx Bar that serves cocktails, beer and wine. The restaurant is small and cozy, seating capacity is about 30, booth chairs along one side of the wall with square tables and chairs. The other side has table and chairs only. The kitchen is situated in the back, open and visible to see the cooks at work. The place was empty when I arrived. I started with an Old Fashion with Makers Mark. Mixed well but missing the smashed fruit so it was a strong pour but I enjoyed it. My food order was the Fried Chicken sandwich with Truffle Fries. The chicken was really good, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, with tomato, pickle and a ranch flavored spread. I didn't like the oversized bun on top so I ate without it. Really good. The fries were tasty also, just enough truffle and cheese. At a total cost of $45, I'll be back to check out other items on the menu read more
