Eating at a restaurant in a hotel used to be the norm for me when I was a traveling IT contractor. These days, not so much. In fact, I don't remember the last time. It was last year sometime I think. Anyway ... I ended up here on the suggestion of my date and I think she just wanted some of those cookies that Double Tree's are known for. Walking into the restaurant, it's smaller and it was busy for a Wednesday night. At least I thought so. So, I wasn't bothered with having to wait for someone to seat us. I saw the hostess was helping clear tables so at least it wasn't due to someone goofing off. The staff was really nice and very efficient. Dishes were cleared. Drinks were refilled and the server was available when needed. As for the food, it was ok. I ordered the executive meatloaf which was good but I thought the gravy was a too sweet for my taste. My date ordered the Austalian Kobe Sliders and I thought there were ok too. Just needed a little more kick in the flavor department. Validated parking so no worries about having to pay extra for an already inflated dinner menu pricing. Cookies were good - $1.50 each. We had two. read more

Eat and order at the bar , the service is better than the waiter in the restaurant , a few of the male staff seem uninterested in their job and stare at you with a vacant look when asked simple questions (obviously English isn't the main language) but a smile cost nothing , had a burger one night (which actually came out as a sandwich (waiter stuffed up my order, then said it was my fault ) , had a steak at the bar which was nice , and pizza which was also nice (bar again) , as a rule the food is good but service well I wasn't impressed and the way the waiter was ignoring other guest he's in the wrong job. read more

WARNING....this one is LONG, I had to, sorry! 4 Stars goes to this hidden GEM in OC. Trofi is located inside the hotel so most people wouldn't even know it exist. I gave this rating based on 4 Stars for overall food & service and an additional half a star for our amazing waiter. I didn't give 5 Stars becuz I really need to taste more from the menu to properly give them 5 Stars. I think 4.5 Stars is pretty darn GOOD for our visit today. I came here today with some of my colleagues (NG and VH for a meeting at the Doubletree. Right away...Valet was there and ready to assist us with parking. Beautiful service. We were greeted by our Clients (KR and BS from the Doubletree). We proceeded to the restaurant to have our meeting over lunch. Our waiter "Jesus" greeted us right away and was ready to serve us as soon as we were seated. This is the other reason why I rated them high....the service from JESUS was "TOP NOTCH". He always had our drinks filled up, we must have been super thirsty today becuz he kept coming back to fill our glasses at least 3 times during our stay. Everything came out at the right time, our food was never lagging in anticipation to the next entree. I normally don't expect this kind of 5 Stars service in the heart of OC yet alone from a "Hotel Restaurant" becuz OC is pretty much a RELAX City but the service today was beyond amazing. Below are the items we had as a group. 01. Artichoke & Sun-dried Tomato Dip ($8) - 5 Stars Lemon, EVOO, Flatbread points - This appetizer was so yummy with robust flavors. I never knew what some Sun-dried Tomatoes could do for an Arti. Wow, beyond describing. If you like Spinach & Artichoke dips, you will LOVE this twist to that staple! 02. Tomato Basil Soup ($10) - 5 Stars Tomatoes, Basil, Parmesan, Crouton - Theirs was just as good. Very creamy and not too rich, you can taste the basil and tomatoes with every spoonful. 03. Chicken Tortilla Soup ($5.50) - 3 Stars Chili, Corn, Fresh Cilantro, Tortilla Chips - This was full of flavors but not spicy as some others are. It was fresh and seasoned well. 04. Hearts of Romaine Salad ($7) - 3 Stars Shaved Parmesan Slices, Caesar Dressing - Why 3 Stars? Well, it needed more dressing...I'm a dressing kinda girl! I'll remember to ask for more next time. Overall, it was fresh and light. 05. The Big O Salad ($12) - 5 Stars Mixed Greens, Pecans, Oranges, Strawberries, Bleu Cheese, Vinaigrette Dressing - Wow...the presentation, texture and color of this dish was beautiful. I could actually smell the fragrant of the fruits. 06. Grilled Halibut ($18) - 3 Stars Mango, Lime and Cilantro Slaw over the grilled Halibut, choice of sides (Mashed Potato) - This wasn't my dish but my friend didn't care for it. I like Halibut so I sampled it and I thought it was fresh and light. I think the slaw could've listed some more seasonings since it was a little bland. 07. Roasted Half Chicken ($17) - 4 Stars Beer Can Chicken, herbs, lemon served with Mashed Potato - This was my dish and the chicken was so tender, it fell off the bones when I forked it. The skin was crispy, it could use just a tad more salty component otherwise, it was good. Mash was creamy and just mashed! 08. Spicy Penne Pasta w/ Chicken ($14) - 3.5 Stars - I don't really know if it was really good or not. But if I had to rate it, she ate it all, so I would've guessed it was decent or good. 09 Apple Cobbler w/ Vanilla Hagen Daz Ice Cream ($6) - 5 Stars - Warm Cinnamon Cobbler baked and served like a muffin. When you dig your fork into it, the texture was soft and fluffy but not air light soft. The ice cream was PERFECT with the warm cobbler. I enjoyed this dish becuz it wasn't messy, too sweet or runny. 10. Bowl of FRESH Seasonal Fruits ($6) - 5 Stars Okay, we had to leave at some point and we really had no more room for anything but AIR. Over stuffing ourselves would probably be the BEST description of how we all felt. BUT and if you have a COOKIE CRAVING...they do make a "World Famous Chocolate Chip Cookie" that is only made and sold to Doubletree. For 6 Big Cookies, you'll need to fork out $6 Bucks. Would we go back here....YELP we sure will! There are so many other items I want to try...see you soon Trofi and Jesus. KR & BS...thank you for being such GREAT hosts. NOTE: If you're reading this review and want to stay at this particular hotel...you will def enjoy your accommodations. This restaurant is mediocre. Came back to the hotel from a long morning of Disneyland and of course we were hungry. The restaurant was closed so the only place we can order was from the bar. I tried ordering a couple of drinks from the bar but the woman making them kept on telling me that they were out of so many things. After managing to find some blueberries she was able to make me a $11 mojito that tasted like watered down Sprite and cheap rum. It also took her a long time to even take our order because she kept going to the back and taking 6-10 minute intervals. The food we ordered was definitely not worth the price. I felt as if they were serving us children portions. My cousin and I had returned in the morning before check out for breakfast. We were actually in the restaurant this time. Service was much faster and efficient. We had scheduled to eat from the breakfast buffet. And ordered two glasses of mimosas. Our waiter was very nice. Thank you! Hotel restaurants are seldom my first choice for dining, but because I'm here in Orange, CA with no car, I didn't have a choice. I was happily surprised. Their menu is quite limited and very standard hotel fare. Not bad, just not very exciting. The waiter listed some specials and one surprised me: Smoked beef, served on a toasted bun, housemade potato chips, dusted with paprika, and housemade coleslaw. It was served on an ordinary, rectangular plate. No wooden planks, shovels, or Mason jars. This was very much a point in their favor. The beef was generously portioned. Probably about a pound; easily enough for two. It was fork tender, perfectly smoked, nicely crusted on the edges, and slathered with enough barbeque sauce to be perfectly accompanied, without making it a sodden mess. The bun was excellent. Fresh, plump, a very slightly sweet taste, and grilled to a crunch on the inside. Buttered, but not greasy. The sauce was more to the spicy side, than sweet. It had a distinct tomato and pepper flavor and hint of smokiness. It was not thin and not thick, actually perfect for my taste. A side cup contained extra for the sandwich or the chips. The chips were thick, fresh, and nicely dusted with paprika and other spices. Not terribly salty, but well balanced. Again, a large helping. Only slight letdown was the coleslaw. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, either. Heavy amounts of raw, strong onion. A thin, oily, tart, dressing. Served at room temperature. Just not to my taste. Service was excellent. Fast, friendly, but not overbearing. The decor is basic hotel brown, but honestly, I'm going for the food, not the seat cushions. Very friendly staff. They helped me with suggestions. Sampled wine that waiter selected for me after I told him what I liked (didn't see dessert wines listed in the menu) and it was great! Very clean, well-lit interior with comfortable booths. There are also tables. Menu prices vary from $9 - $25 depending on the item choice: appetizer, soup, salad, main entree, pizza from scratch or salad. Glass of wine $11 at the time of my visit. Noise level acceptable from surrounding guests and kitchen staff working. Manager walks around checking that clients are comfortable. Waiter swings by periodically to check on me and let me know the progress of the order. Time of wait 10 - 12 minutes with low level traffic. Chicken moist and well seasoned, risotto well executed, lemon/white wine butter cream sauce added lovely contrast of tanginess and an accent of saltiness. Lovely crunch on a well-cooked asparagus. Portion sized reasonably: leaning more towards starch and veggie but at least 3 - 4 ounces of protein(see my pic) Oh my! On the dessert! I am stuffed, happy and don't care about a thang! Located inside the Doubletree Hilton, where reservations is not required. For breakfast they have All You Can Buffet American Traditional Breakfast and each day rotates with pancake, waffle, and french toast. There's a lunch menu and a dinner menu. The service is very friendly and efficient, as they are on top of many things. They will be renovating to become even more modern to match the newly renovations of the lobby. Nice space and comfortable seating. The Cajun chicken alfredo and the five cheese Mac and cheese are amazing in flavor and big portion for lunch. A great place to dine and not too overly expensive for an in House restaurant at a hotel. Homemade gelato outside of the restaurant is a must! read more

Can't be too picky when eating inside a hotel restaurant! Tried their Cajun Alfredo with blackened chicken and added seasonal veggies (broccoli, sweet whole mini chili peppers, and diced eggplant) today. Lunch portion was large enough for 2 and fettuccini pasta was aldente but the flavor was sub par. Dish tasted like pasta doused in cream, rather than the southern flavor that its "cajun" name suggested. Veggies, although rather large (broccoli florets were the size of Half my palm), were firm and delicious. On another previous few trips in the past, tried their chopped market salad, carver sandwich, and maple glazed salmon. Food was ok but nothing to rave about. Service deserves 3 stars but can't complain because they're trying to serve large convention groups in a short amount of time. read more

Trofi has surprisingly well prepared fresh entrees for a hotel restaurant. The lamb shank was was just that, a whole shank, very tender and not over done. The roast chicken entree was juicy hot and delicious. The menu description included braised leeks. Mashed potatoes were on the plate too. I immediately noted this to the waiter, disappointed that the leeks' portion seemed diminished by the giant dollop of startch. The waiter instantly offered a side of fresh veggies to me. Soon a side plate of lightly grilled al dente carrots, asparagus and broccoli florettes appeared. Above par food and service at a very reasonable price makes Trofi a good bet. read more

Went twice for breakfast this past weekend. No buffet, only a la carte options. Overpriced so the new Hilton F&B credit for Diamonds ($12/guest/day, won't roll over) and won't get you a lot. On our first day, all of our group who had the fruits cup noted that it tasted not too fresh and had stomach issues later in the day. Second day, things got worse. Our server Diego was unprofessional, rude and couldn't care less. It is incomprehensible to me how management isn't aware of it it or doesn't do anything about it. The place was maybe 1/3 full, however they seemed completely overwhelmed and it took them 45 minutes to bring out a order of sides (1 fruits cup, 1 oatmeal and side of bacon) - all items that are usually prepared ahead of time and not cooked to order. Larger groups that came in later got their food before others. When guests inquired with Diego about the status of their order, Diego raised his voice and borderline yelled at them. Same happened to us. How about he simply apologies and explained the situation to the customers patiently waiting for their food? When we finally gave up waiting for our food and left, he just shrugged and couldn't care less. Shame for an otherwise great hotel in the area. Go get your breakfast at the coffee shot in the lobby. Baristas are super friendly and they have decent food options. Unless management does something and finds staff that do the bare minimum at their job and doesn't insult their guests. read more

Trofi is Located in one of the many Anaheim-Disney area hotels, I went there by mere chance (for its easy to find location, mainly) for a light dinner. Went inside sat at the bar, then Ricardo, the uber cool bartender, tempted me with a Cosmo (I know that's so SATC 2003ish, that is funny, I wonder when we gonna start considering them a vintage beverage...) I ended up ordering an awesome tomato Basil soup, delicious accompanied with yummy bread. Also tried their coffee, pretty good! After a long Saturday at Disney, we were looking for a decent dinner out to celebrate Valentine's Day--- I am usually not a fan of hotel restaurants but a look at the menu's diversity (and prices!) and I'm glad we checked it out. The restaurant was not crowded --- I imagine most of the guests were at Disney or at The Block shopping mall (which is within walking distance). We started with the Caesar salad and Tomato Bisque soup... which was creamy and delicious. My wife ordered the top sirloin -- was a top notch piece of meat (but for $15 it was better than expected!)... meal also came with potatoes and asparagus cooked to perfection. I had the ahi which was seared perfectly. (they pair it with a cheesy risotto which was an odd contrast) My wife said it best: the meal's presentation was a lot like a good catered wedding dinner. Salvador was a prompt waiter and several members of the staff checked in on us. We were able to dine & relax before heading back to Disney and were grateful for the respite. Even with drinks and tip we got out for $60. Can't beat it. read more

I did not like being interrupted mid-sentence while I am giving him my order, so he could take care of the needs of another patron and I really do not like he "claimed" I asked for one fried egg over hard, when my standard are two. I stayed here the whole week and was pre-purchased the breakfast buffet for convenience but wasn't feeling easy everyday going in there and get my buffet breakfast. Separate issues, appetizer coupons was offered to get us to go to their bar but when we use the coupon there is all kind of rules and regulations. Not happy. We are staying at the double tree and since it was getting kind of late and I don't know my way around the area we decided to eat here out of convenience. Wish I had read the reviews prior to dining here. The waitress was very pleasant. However her cheerfulness doesn't make up for the rest of the experience. We ordered the artichoke dip as an appetizer. I would love to tell you how it tasted however when it arrived with our food we sent it back. The food took forever to arrive. The bread that was served before was good, just standard rolls and butter. So as far as our dinner. So not impressed. One person got meatloaf which was bland at best. Nothing to write home about for $17. Not worth it at all. Small portion, served luke warm. Served with mashed potatoes that were flavorless. I ordered the fish and chips. Since it seemed like a nice restaurant I didn't expect giant portions but was pretty disappointed with what I got. Small portion of pretty flavorless and somewhat overcooked french fries, Cole slaw that wasn't very good and the fish. Ok, the fish did taste good however there was literally about 6 bites of fish. It was 3 tiny fish sticks. I'm sorry, I don't have a problem paying $15 for fish and chips, it's pretty standard but can I please have some fish? Pros- the ice tea was good. The gentlemen refilling our waters was very nice and good about the refills. We are staying at this hotel for a few more days and have no plans to revisit this restaurant. read more

When traveling to OC I always stay at this hotel and just out of convenience and time I always end up eating at this restaurant...over the years the quality has for sure slipped and the variety has to. Typical for most places around this area it is so bland and blah...this week was the same. I ordered some soup before my meal. It was supposed to be lemon chicken soup and literally it was chicken noodle soup with a lemon wedge....there is really not much to compliment on there wine prices are really high but I guess that should be expected it is a hotel bar? I just need to get off my lazy but next time and get out to some local places and enjoy what OC has to offer. Went here for breakfast while I was a guest at the Doubletree. The restaurant looks pretty nice. I don't know how the food on the menu is. I got the breakfast buffet. The breakfast menu prices were incredibly high, while the buffet was as well (I believe it was $17) but it was all you can eat. The best items available were the watermelon, and the toasted bagel (that I toasted myself) everything in the line was cold, hard, and just plain NOT good!! I seriously almost broke a tooth on the 'Fresh' French toast sticks! When I went to get them at first it looked like the end of the pan, so I requested fresh ones. My first time at this restaurant and it was horrible. All staff including management were not professional. I ordered the 5 cheese mac&cheese. My buddy ordered the chili and sandwich and fries. There were ingredients missing from the Mac and my buddies fries never came nor did the cheese, onions, or sour cream come with the chili. They took the chili off his bill and added 7 dollars to my bill. Had to have that corrected. We were the only ppl dining at this time so it wasn't busy. After it was all said and done there wasn't a single apology and we were treated very rudely. read more

Can I only give 1 star? The menu was short and unimaginative. It says they have a full bar but stock 1 type of bourbon. While I didn't measure the wine pours they looked well short of 5-6oz. The steak wasn't cooked right, but they made up for it because it was cold in spots. A truly forgetful experience if you are staying at the Doubletree do yourself a favor and go offsite. read more

We ordered a variety of things but everyone was satisfied and had wonderful things to say about every dish. Some dishes ordered include the hot wings (large portion), fish & chips, pot roast w/ mashed potatoes (SO SO good!), tomato basil bisque soup, angus sliders, and margherita pasta. After a long day at Disneyland we decided to eat here out of convenience. I would not eat here again, it wasn't that great. We ordered bruschetta, tomato and basil bisque, sliders and a chicken soup. I loved my tomato soup, it was flavorful and creamy. However, the bruschetta bread was stale and the BF complained that his soup wasn't very hot. He also said the sliders were not the best. Great friendly service. Went in for breakfast and had the continental buffet, so it was quick and filling. Next time I'll try the hot buffet, where you can also have them make custom omelets and waffles, in addition to the sausage, bacon, and scrambled eggs on the buffet. It's my first time in Cali so I was hoping this trip would go by smoothly. My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the double tree by Hilton here in Orange County which is only 15 mins away from Disneyland. Today happened to be our last day here so we decided to eat the breakfast buffet here at the hotel. Originally the price for two is $36 but the receptionist gave us a 20% off voucher and I paid $31. We were never greeted when we walked in and the waiter didn't walk us to the our table, he pointed to it from afar. The table was dirty and missing silverware and used cups. The fruits were super hard that it was impossible to bite into them. The waiter asked us what we wanted to drink and we said water and got that, but when he came back to check up on us, we asked for OJ. This fool never came back with our drinks and we saw a family come down to eat and they asked for OJ and coffee and he was treating them way better than how we were treated. They immediately got their drinks ..while we waited a good 30 mins but by that time, we were already done eating. I left no tip whatsoever! It could've been because we look like minors so he didn't care for two young adults eating. We noticed how he was excited for his tips left on the other tables and quickly grabbed them before even assisting other cuStomers. He basically looked money hungry, I mean I get the struggle is real, but there are customers who need certain things and that was his job to do. This is my first Yelp review! Unfortunately , it's a bad one at that. Muffin was hard too.. Overall, food was OK. Oh , let's not forget that we barely got our food and sat down and 5 mins later , he brings the check out .. I'm never one to go to a hotel to eat at their in-house restaurant, but this place would be a MAJOR EXCEPTION!! They have speedy, great quality service. From their greeter, to the servers, to their cooks. Everyone whom you cross paths w/ during your dining experience is very friendly, and easily approachable. The food tasted great. I went their on a busy day and even though you could clearly tell they were quite busy, you couldn't "feel" it. How's that? Our server was very tentative to our table, as well as the other ones under his care. He made himself visible in case we needed anything, and would check back on us in appropriate time intervals. read more
