The last couple times I have gone it's been very disappointing specially with the price increase! My partner has been hunting down places known for their breakfast burrito, so when Troy's went viral on social media, we made a mental note to give it a try. On our first attempt, we got to Troy's Drive-In, only to read on their windows that breakfast burritos are served until 11:30AM. Unfortunately for us, it was past 12 that day, and we had to pivot to another local eatery. We finally had time to come and check out Troy's on a Saturday morning and found a brief line waiting to order. Between ordering and waiting for our order, we saw more than a handful of people that came to pay and pick-up their phone order. Genius! I can definitely see how on a busy weekend, it would be a lot easier to phone in your order. Luckily for us, the wait wasn't excessive and we had extra time. It took us about 20 minutes to receive our order. My partner is not a fan of spicy, so he asked for salsa on the side vs in the burrito, and I asked for mine in the burrito. The green sauce is tomatillo-based and packs a punch! I noticed it was mostly mixed in with the hash browns so the burrito wasn't soggy. My partner asked for 2 meats, ham and sausage, and I went with just sausage. The meats had good flavor and texture. The hash browns weren't crispy, but did have a strong potato flavor. There wasn't really any other seasoning on them, which overall made the burrito taste a little bland, but the added salsa really helped. We were also surprised that the cheese wasn't melted in! It seems like the individual components are cooked (eggs, hash browns, meats), and then added to the tortilla with cheese and rolled together, but not heated through. We ate half our burrito at the outdoor tables they had available, and took the other half with us to-go. I think if we had heated everything back up, it would've been a nice meld of flavors. Troy's has their own dedicated parking lot, but can get packed quickly. Most people take their food to-go so the lot doesn't ever stay full for too long - plus there is street parking which can make it easier to walk into. They have a handful of outdoor tables around the building, and a very small inside seating area. This was a fun local gem to discover and try out, and if we were more local, I could see us stopping in to grab a good bite of food to-go. I've ordered here numerous times and it's so much easier to order over the phone and pick up because there is limited parking. I love that the burritos are THICK. Well worth the price. I always get a bacon breakfast burrito and like that I can eat half now and save the other half for later bcz it's that full. First time at Troy's Burgers. It is a small nondescript place with limited parking next to a motel. It has very limited seating and I suspect the most orders are phone-in and takeouts. It's very clean place and it has a decent menu of burgers, burritos, and some salads. The service was good but the wait time for food was a bit long. As I stated, there is a lot of phone-in orders and customers traffic was brisk. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage and I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito. Both were huge and packed with eggs, potato, cheese and beans. The salsa was freshly made and everything was fresh tasting, flavorful and well prepared. We arrived early within the first hour that they opened up and there was already a line and barely any parking on site! My girlfriend has been raving about this place since we started talking and we finally had the opportunity to try this place out together a couple months ago. I got myself their breakfast burrito with ham and it did not disappoint. I was really glad that it wasn't extra salty like most other establishments for breakfast burritos. The salsa was good as well so no complaints for me here. I've seen many other reviews complaining about greasy burritos but I didn't get that. People working here are great and they move really quickly, seeing how busy it was. If you don't get here early, there will probably be no parking, as the lot is really small. Word of advice check yoir food before you leave. Just went here drove 10 minutes to go there ordered food came home another 10 minutes. To bite into my chorizo breakfast burrito to find the burrito was potatoes and maybe 1 egg. So basically I paid 10.58 for potatoes. When I called to complain they said bring it back we will make another. You think I'm gonna drive back 10 minutes again to fix my burrito. I'm starving at this point. I asked them to credit my card they said no, NEVER WILL I GO BACK. Made breakfast at home, which is what I should have done in the first place. First breakfast place in SoCal! This is my friends go to place for a breakfast burritos and part of me wants to keep it all for myself but it was way too good. We all ordered breakfast burritos with all the meats and with the addition of avocados! If I'm not wrong, it does cost extra. The size of each burrito itself was HUMONGOUS, but what impressed me was how well crafted it was. That might sound strange but all the different proteins along with potatoes, cheese and other ingredients were evenly distributed. I didn't feel like it was all thrown together into one big mush. It also had such a kick to it which totally caught me off guard. A nice bit of spice. They were also very generous with the amount of sauce that was given which I appreciate because I'm a huge sauce girl. Green salsa was delish but strangely the ketchup on the burrito took my taste buds to another level. Beautiful! We didn't get anything else but word has it that their burgers are also huge. This place is better then victory diner in the area for sure, I feel like all these charbroiled burger places get there fried zucchini from the same whole seller or something cause there all breaded super similar and has very small zucchini inside the batter. The burger size was good but the had to my pickles for me and definitely tasted a bit better but for sure a bit more sour then most if your into that. Service was super fast though and gave me all the correct condiments I asked for when I called in for my phone order in advance and also put enough napkins when I asked. As for ambiance goes this place is just your natural charbroiled burger place type of feel and wasn't really paying attention to the music or if they had any on. As far as cleanliness I didn't use the restrooms so I don't know if it's clean. But overall this place is mid for burgers and fried zucchini, but then again people say this place is good for there breakfast burrito so if I ever do give it another shot i'm definitely going to try that burrito people write about. Troy's has been around for years. We were hungry and just wanted something quick, fast and dog friendly. When we drove up it was lunch time. There was a small line and the inside dining area was full. The reviews say their breakfast burritos are good. A customer in line said their tacos were really good. There were a lot of orders for their hamburger combo plate. Our food was not so good. We ordered Carne Asada plate, taco, and taquitos. The Carne Asada was tough and chewy. I think it was the owner who took our order, was honest with me and said the taquitos are store bought along with the guacamole that they come with. I ordered them anyway because I had my heart set on taquitos. That was a mistake. I use to eat here years ago, and I remember the food was not that bad. Troy's is basically a dive that serves Mexican and greasy food. I think there are a lot of locals who frequent Troy's. You know every place claims to be the best and I placed my order hoping it wouldn't be just another okay burrito. Well I was surprised when the lady handed me my order. I have driven by this place for years. I've always been in a hurry, on my way somewhere, so I have never stopped. Today I was driving by with no particular place to go, so I stopped for lunch. My logic was that if this place, Troy's, had been her for all those years in an un likely location, it must be good. Boy what that the under statement of the century! It wasn't just good, it was great! The first thing I notice was a sign that said it was owned by the same family since 1977. And it showed in the pride of ownership that we don't often see in big corporation owned places. The facility was spotless...right down to the windows being clean and polished the grounds and dinning area like the great grandmother who did nothing but clean. The food. A combo of large drink and fries was not only tasty but it was at a grear price. The lady at the order window was a sweet heart. This place is worthy of respect ! Troy's is my go to for amazing breakfast burritos and it should be for everyone else. Troy's is a small little spot with limited seating (outdoor only) and limited parking. Most of the time I have to park on the street and walk over, but I do it because their food is amazing. You will always see people lined up waiting either for their food or place an order because not only do they make some large burritos, but they make them so delicious! Its hard to say what makes them so good, but I will say their salsa is so amazing and they have different heat levels for anyone. This is a must for everyone! read more
