The food is delicious... BEST Philly cheesesteaks EVER, and they offer food trucks, games, and Ferris wheel rides. Customer service is out of this world. The energy is upbeat with an incredible atmosphere and live entertainment every single day. Amazing drinks too!!

It's a very chill spot. I didn't initially think I would like the location but ended up enjoying the food, drink, and singing. I'd visit again.

We came here because we saw it the night before. It really does look like a truck yard, which is totally fine. The set up is a bit different because you see yourself you order yourself and you pay before you get any of your food. This does cause a little issue since they want you to tip but you actually haven't received any food but we tipped of course the service is really good even though you don't see any of the staff unless you were getting your food but when you do the employees, there are extremely friendly and very helpful. They had a band plane at the time which was cool. It was pretty empty because we wanted to eat before it got dark because we walked, but I bet on weekends it gets pretty lively. All in all it's a pretty cool place with a very simple food menu.

Accidentally came across Truck Yard and glad I went in! It has a very fun vibe, there is live music and lawn games, and plenty of seats to accommodate those who like the crowd and those who just want to be tucked away in a corner. There are QR codes on the table so you don't need to go up to order anything, if you just want to stay where you are. Got the purple drank, which I highly recommended! The fries were a little soggy, so unless you need some carbs, probably ok to skip. They also sell flask cocktails if you're up for that!

Do you have a place that you consider an "old faithful"? Well, this place is that for me. For starters, the decor is so fun and playful. I absolutely LOVE all the detail they put into decorating. Thennn...have you ever gone to a bar, had a few drinks, then ended up super hungry, only to find out they don't serve food? Well guess what? This place has a whole mini food truck park. They also have crawfish when it's in season. Lastly, the bartenders are great! Fast service and delicious drinks. With all that being said..chop chop and get over there!

Quirky little bar in EaDo! Tons of cool little photo op spots throughout the yard. They have a Photo Booth and a little private karaoke room you can book too! Think you need a Ferris wheel to complete your day drinking? They have one! Parking was easy enough when we stopped by, there's a pay lot across the street. Cheap drinks. Good times. The patio is dog friendly too!

Super cool funky place - an unusual bar. It's almost like you're at Coney Island or the south Jersey shore boardwalk. Fun place, one of the bartenders is very salty but otherwise a good time. It's an eclectic place and they have live music. Came here late at night during the week and it was still full of energy. Drinks are typical bar drinks, it's really all about the atmosphere. Doing a nice big photo dump so you can get a feel of the place. Recommend checking it out.

We enjoy going to truck yard. The atmosphere is laid back. A great spot for families during the day. The ferris wheel provides a different experience for all ages. Live music. Food trucks on rotation offer a variety of options. Self serve, grab a beer pick a table and enjoy. The service at the bar is friendly and helpful. Many beers on tap.

Yes!! Such a fun place! We used to live in Dallas and enjoyed the truck yard there so we were excited to see there is one in Houston too. It was a very easy walk from downtown to get there. It's larger than the one in Dallas and even has a Ferris wheel. It was very busy but we never had to wait in line very long for drinks. Service was friendly. It's dog and family friendly too. There were 3 food trucks, a crawfish stand and cheesesteaks. We didn't eat but the food sure did look and smell good.

Isabel S.

Great mellow spot. Cold beer, didn't eat so can vouch on that but totally recommend. Lots of food trucks so a lot of options on what to eat.

I wonder where is calling for next year?!

Went here on a night out and this place had great live music, good drinks, quick service and a for real life Ferris wheel that just me and my hubby rode on. It was like something out of a movie! I'd definitely go back and go here first!

Stage with live music!

Great hidden gem! They've got many cool things going on from photo booths, live music, karaoke, and the Ferris wheel. We went on a weekday evening and they had fans and misters going to help with the heat. Live music was going but the karaoke & ferris wheel only go on during certain days/times so best to check ahead of time if you're looking for those. Ordered drinks from a QR ode at the tables (I think food can only be ordered at the bar area) and they were great! Fun, quirky spot definitely worth checking out.

Came here for Dolly Day, but this place is pretty cool! Lots of open seating, food trucks, and even a cheesesteak place that's always here! And it's so good! I recommend the Bear! Also got a souvenir dolly cup with purchase! They also have karaoke and dog friendly. Been here a couple times with my pups. Lots of seating too!

Truck Yard Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Truck Yard

Is this a good place to go to watch playoffs this weekend?

I would probably call to ask to be sure but if they are showing the games, then yes, an awesome place.

Is this a family friendly place?

Yes, the Truck Yard is family-friendly

Do they take group reservation?

Hi Francisco! We don't take reservations, but if you have a large group and want to set up a private event with us, you can reserve different areas of the yard that way. Just email houstonevents@texastruckyard.com and one of our managers will give…

I have a 13 year old brother until what is he allowed at night? He loved their Philly cheesesteaks

I believe their sign said 9pm.

Can kids enter or do you need to show ID at the entrance?

only after 9pm its only 21+ but morning time is good for family hangout.

Is open for tonight?

Yes, we sure are.

Are dogs allowed? And if so are many people there with their dogs?

Yes! When I went last night there were about 6 dogs. One VERY large and beautiful dog as well

Do they accept reservations for parties?

It's not a restaurant. .. more of an area with live music, food trucks, bar and a Philly Cheese steak place. No reservations needed.

What time do they stop serving food?

I think about 9 or 10 at night

Do they offer nonalcoholic drinks for kids/virgin versions of their drinks?

Yes if you go to the bar and you tell him I wanna Shirley Temple or pina Colada when no alcohol they can fix it for you, I also think they have non alcoholic beer

Are there high chairs here for during the day?

Yes, in the bar area.

Is there any indoor seating or is it all outdoors?

Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Can you bring your own 6 pack beer..?

Hi there, We don't allow outside drinks in the yard, but luckily we have tons of beer to choose from!

Are there heaters outside on cold nights?

Yes- heaters while cold and mist fans when hot.

Is an ID required to visit this place?

Hey Melissa, Truck Buddies of any age can enter the yard during the day and are only carded if they wish to buy a drink. We do go 21+ after 9pm to which you will need an ID to enter the yard. Hope to see you soon.

Is smoking allowed? Is this a friendly spot for those allergic to cigarettes?

Smoking is allowed outside.

What time does the kitchen close?

11:00 pm

Is there parking?

Yes. There is a free parking lot for all of the East Village tenants on St. Emanuel and there is plenty of street parking in the area

I know it's for adults but are kids allowed too?

Definitely saw kiddos there.

Anyone know if dogs are allowed?

For sure! Dogs are welcome to hang out with us at Truck Yard anytime.

I toyed with ideas of the most non nutritious food to order because I felt I deserved it. Something comforting. I decided on a Philly cheesesteak and fries. This was my first time ordering from Pappa Geno's, but I have considered it before. I was going to order from Miller's Cafe because I like theirs, but I get much more from Pappa Geno's. I like that their cheesesteaks are traditional footlong size on a soft hoagie. The Pappa Geno's steak and cheese was filled with thinly sliced steak, melted cheese and mayo. I added mushrooms to mine. They wrap it up in foil paper to keep it nice and warm. If you're really hungry, you can eat the whole thing. If not, you can eat half of it and save the other half for later. The meat was seasoned and on the moist side compared to others. I've been to both rival cheesesteak places (Geno's and Pat's) in Philly, and I thought this was a nice alternative for Houston to have. I think I still prefer the thinly sliced steak flavor from Miller's Cafe. The side of fries are crispy with almost a breading on the exterior. Same fries as Piper's Cantina, if you've ever been. I'm not that into breaded fries like these, but it was good and was a large portion. The sandwich itself is on the pricier side but a decent portion. I'd like to try their other Philly cheesesteak options or add hot oil peppers like the Wicked Philly. Pappa Geno's is a great option if you want a more authentic Philly cheesesteak fix.

Not all of them are made to be compared--some are just totally different styles, and that's not a bad thing. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while after seeing the debates about who has the best cheesesteak in Houston. The only thing that held me back was the location. I finally made the trip--and I'm glad I did. First off: customer service. Let's be real--food trucks sometimes don't deliver on this, but that was not the case here. Super friendly and attentive. It made a big difference. What I tried: * Chicken cheesesteak with shrimp - Delicious. Messy, cheesy, and indulgent. If you're someone who likes your cheesesteaks loaded with toppings like lettuce or tomato, this might not be your thing. But if you're into a bold, no-frills kind of sub? You'll love it. * Philly steak eggroll - Fire. * Fries - These were wild. Battered like fried chicken, perfectly crispy. I might honestly come back just for the fries. * Corned beef - Served Midwest-style, and the meat was on point. Tender and flavorful. Bottom line: I really enjoyed this place. It's not trying to be like everyone else--and that's exactly why it works. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd absolutely return.

The customer service was really great. When our orders came up, it was before the time he gave us, so that was great also! The hoagies came out hot and fresh! The bread really does a number on this sandwich, because it is light, airy, has a good chew to it, AND, holds together as you make your way through the sandwich. So when I decided to give Angelo Z's a try, I came in hopeful but ready to judge with the precision of a seasoned shrimp connoisseur. First, I'll give credit where it's due: the place is designed beautifully. Clean, inviting, well thought-out décor. The staff? Top-notch. Friendly smiles, fast service -- the kind of welcome that makes you want to pull up a chair and stay awhile. But then my shrimp po'boy arrived. And that's where things took a turn. The bread was toasted -- yes, toasted -- which, for a Louisiana po'boy, is already a red flag. To make matters worse, it wasn't even the traditional French bread that's light, airy inside, and has that delicate crackle on the crust. Instead, it was a dense, over-toasted loaf that crunched like I was chewing on a roofing shingle. Then came the real deal-breaker: I bit in and realized the shrimp hadn't been deveined. At all. And for anyone who knows seafood, that black line running down the back isn't some "seasoning" -- it's grit and waste. One glance at that and my appetite clocked out. I understand I'm not in Louisiana anymore, and I'm all for creative spins on classics, but there's a line between "putting your own twist" on something and missing the fundamentals altogether. Unfortunately, this missed the mark in a way I couldn't overlook. Beautiful space. Wonderful people. But for me? A shrimp po'boy that isn't deveined, on the wrong bread, and toasted into oblivion isn't a po'boy worth coming back for.
