I came here for brunch a few weekends ago and was honestly underwhelmed. We got drinks first and I got the bramble on rose, which was really good and my boyfriend got the citrus margarita and berries & bourbon- both also good. Here's where it took a turn. I asked the server if they had Iced coffee, and if so, if they could make it an Irish coffee. He looked confused and said they did have iced coffee but he wasn't sure about the Irish coffee, to which I replied that if not I'll just take a vanilla iced coffee with a shot of whiskey. Times passes, he brings out my boyfriend's drink and says mine should be out soon. More times passes, the table nexts to us get their drinks, we then get our meals, and still no iced Irish coffee. He says there was a mixup between the bartenders. Finally mid into the meal he comes and says they couldn't make it and gave me a regular iced coffee (with ice already semi melted). I found this so odd, what bar cannot make an Irish coffee? It's honestly pretty simple but also why couldn't he bring me the iced coffee with a shot of whiskey like i asked? I didn't even mention it when he brought the plain iced coffee because it seemed like a hassle. The manager then came toward the end of our meals and said he tried to to do their own take on an Irish coffee and it was on the house (which was really nice). It wasn't an Irish coffee per se but it was good especially once I added some ice to it. In regards to the food, it was lackluster. I got the avocado toast and added chicken sausage. It was just okay. It lacked flavor and left me wanting something more. The sausage also looked like the premade kind you buy from the grocery store and pop into the microwave. My boyfriend got the sea bass and he also felt it was just okay. Overall, we weren't that impressed. The signature cocktails were good but the food was just okay, at best. Plus, the whole confusion over an Irish coffee was one of my most bizarre experiences at a restaurant. read more

Im not going to trick anyone with this review. This place is True and it has Food! The thing that is not True about the title is they also serve up Drink! I tend to come here to work in the afternoons when I am stuck between Northside or another coffee shop with my laptop and malaise trying to re-energize and not wallow in my own stupid worries like if I will be able to get a million in the bank or setup auto-invest monthly dogecoin or robinhood investments that will never pay out while my credit card debt just piles higher and higher! Anyway, I recommend the brussel sprouts, or basically anything on the menu. Ive had anything with squash and chicken in the name. Not that I dont venture out of my confort zone and have whatever random seasonal special they push on my when I am seated. Each time they explain to you the qr code system, and by now the waiters remember me and know my drink order and know I hate to be bothered. I finally dont really have to tell them to "go away I already ordered on the QR code online menu and placed the order through there, please stop treating me like a human, you will still get your 20% tip dont worry". The future rocks. I wish every restaurant had this onsite ordering system where you dont have to interact or feel judged at ordering 4 $12 cocktails in a row or 3 appetizers and then straight to the artisanal seasonal triple chocolate cheesecake. Basically if you are looking for a place to continue to hide from the world in, I would start at Teds Bulletin next door for breakfast time 7am - 11am then wander over to here for the rest of the day. A friend and I went out for dinner, and I enjoyed everything that I tried! There is affordable parking in the garage for the mall. There is also inside and outside dining available. We made a reservation, though we went early Thursday evening, around 5:30. There weren't many people around when we arrived, but it definitely got busy by the time we were ready to leave. Those edamame dumplings were so unassuming, but full of flavor. Definitely my favorite part of the meal! I was surprised that the chicken wrap was served cold. Awful service. Walked in, the hostess didn't look at us or acknowledge us. We had to ask if we could have a seat. Once sat, we waited 20 minutes and had to ask a waiter who our server was. After another 5 minutes we finally got water and our order was taken. No apologies for the wait. We received our food 45 minutes after sitting down and one of the orders was wrong. We have now been here an hour and one of us cannot eat because they still don't have food. Over an hour after being sat, everyone relieved their food. I was being very patient, but when I saw tables being served that came well after me, I had to inquire regarding the status of my order, which I'd requested that they bring as each item was ready. They did nothing I'd requested. What's worse is this last time, my pizza came out burnt and cold! Why??? Waitress lacked of listening skill kept talking about what she want to sell versus what we the customers want to buy/order then it ended with the wrong kind of food and the wrong order brought out at the wrong time while we had to wait so long for the food (the restaurant was mostly empty and not busy at all!). The waitresses & waiters & manager talking chatting laughing without paying attention to the customers waving the hands asking for help... waiting for a good while! Ok.... I don't know what happened !! Used to be a big fan as the burgers were tender, food was amazing and had taste. Went tot day after being gone from DMV area for 8 months.... What did I just experience. The bread with the guacamole was all salty.... So salty, uneatable, the guacamole itself was super dry .... And the OG burger was beyond dry and hard to eat. Outstanding. We came early for lunch on their first day. One of my friends is on an anti inflammatory diet for a medical condition. Think vegan on steroids. To the point of she can't even have certain fruits and vegetables. Our server was a freaking Rockstar. He knew 99.9% of the ingredients in every dish and when he didn't, he literally came back w a list. He was gracious and patient through the whole thing and was just a complete pro. We had a phenomenal takeout experience here. My mom and dad were over for dinner and we decided on ordering takeout from True Food. Everyone LOVED their meals. Where to start, my dad got the grass fed burger and he said it was delicious and that he'd order it again. My mom ordered a chicken and mozzarella panini and she said that was so good! I was very excited to try true food kitchen because I love veggies! I got the seasonal ingredient salad which had butternut squash, cauliflower, brussels sprout, cannellini bean, organic kale, mulberry, pomegranate, horseradish vinaigrette. The salad was good but nothing mindblowing. I was impressed with the vinaigrette! The horseradish wasnt too overpowering and I liked the sweet and sourness. The reason for three stars is that I personally dont think it was worth the price for me. I eventually ended up paying around 17 dollars for this salad that tastes like sweetgreen. Also the instructions for the QR code/ordering was very confusing and even the servers had a hard time explaining to us. Went with a new friend to dinner here on a Tuesday night. We sat outside and tried at first to use the order from your table option using the table top QR code. It worked for me but not her for drinks so we ended up ordering food directly with the server. Service was good and he was at the table to enough to be helpful but not helicoptering. I got the pizza with caramelized onion, roasted garlic, organic kale, house-made vegan almond ricotta, dried cranberry, sage. It was delicious. I was a little skeptical of the vegan almond ricotta, but scooped up every last bit. It was a wonderful medley of sweet, salty, umami and bite. I highly recommend it. She got the sea bass, roasted brussels sprout, fennel, golden beet, butternut squash farro risotto, lemon, herbs, cashew. She said it was excellent and recommended it. True Food Kitchen hooked it up in Arlington, VA today. While it's an omni restaurant with vegan options, I'd say it's definitely a vegan destination. They specialize in anti-inflammatory foods, which was interesting to hear! Things they did right: Pizza crust was tender perfection, and looked enhanced with some whole grain. Tons of greens, great mushrooms and house made almond ricotta!! You know a place cares when they make their own cheese substitutes. Next up: Double Vegan Cheeseburger w/ Kale side salad. Burger patties were house made with portobello, walnut, and beet. Normally I shy away from house made patties because they really don't lend themselves well to a burger-type vehicle. They always disintegrate and fall out of the burger when you take a bite. What they did right: no carb-on-carb action - this patty is full of fiber-filled portobello mushrooms and beets, along with the great fats and texture of walnuts. Soooo good. Another win was two slightly smaller patties, cooked separately then stacked. This helped with the Patty structure and held together well. Flaxseed bun: perfect softness that allows a perfect give around the patty, also helping the burger to hold together better as a whole. Sauce on both sides of the bun. PICKLED ONIONS. Someone took their time with this creation. Strawberry Smash: organic vodka, strawberry, mint, lemon. Amaze! Last but not least - Edamame Guacamole. Talk about keeping you on your toes, but also keeping it real. Not too dressy, but dressed up enough with cilantro pesto, kept texture interesting with the edamame and pepitas, and seasoned with Aleppo pepper. Everything was expertly seasoned with the exception of the pizza - nothing a little sambal couldn't fix! It wasn't bad, but not exactly what I was expecting when I ordered it. Kale-Aid: this is my favorite drink on the menu! I feel so healthy whenever I get it haha. She said they didn't work. We asked someone else and that person was kind enough to find us one that worked & we moved tables before ordering. Is it bad that True Food is my number one motivation for moving back to Arlington?? It was MU favorite restaurant in AZ, and since moving to VA has been a staple in my foodie lifestyle. We started with Cinnamon Vanilla Latte's which had a very smooth yet unique flavor. The avocado toast was everything you would want it to taste like. Not too salty or chunky. The arugula and parmesan cheese on top really gave it a fresh but savory flavor combined with the perfectly cooked sunny side up eggs. The entrees were the highlight of the entire meal. I had the Korean Noodles with Salmon on top and the Spicy Pangang Curry with Shrimp. Neither dish needed any additional seasoning, super flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The Korean Noodle dish had an amazing mix of Korean flavors and was super fresh and light. The salmon was cooked to a perfect temperature, was moist, and great texture. The Spicy Pangang Curry dish had a smooth, creamy and flavor-packed sauce. The vegetables absorbed the flavor great and were not soggy. The shrimp were juicy, tender, and had great sear that almost gave it a smoky flavor. Food - quality went down compared to a few years ago . I used to like this place but it went downhill. For the price you pay you can do better elsewhere. Had ahi tuna entree today and it made me feel very sick after. And that's not to mention it being bland, no seasoning. I had steak before and it was chewy, not great. The only thing I still like is their selection of fresh non alcoholic cocktails but they cost you as much as $10 a glass.... Yikes Service- took a party of 8 there before Christmas and they miserably failed, some people had to leave after an hour without eating their main course. Would I still recommend it? Honest Ingredients and incredible staff. I love feeling of home and true food's staff does just that. Kevin and Calbert are always going above and beyond to make sure me and my family are having a great experience. I can always count on dining here for my 2 year old.
