Tried their brunch today and mistakenly ordered the salmon a second time. It was really good for lunch but tasted reheated for brunch. A restaurant that is not consistent is not a good restaurant. If you want good salmon in Pasadena I highly recommend Nicks On Lake Ave. They serve a Scottish salmon and I've never been disappointed. I feel ripped off paying 36 dollars for what appeared to be reheated salmon, needless to say, won't take a chance on that plate again. I came here a few days ago for the second time this summer and enjoyed it just as much as the first. Though a little pricy, True Food is healthy and delicious with a lovely atmosphere. Parking is easy - you can get 90 min free parking in the lot on De Lacey and walk over. There's also closer metered parking. A slight issue in the beginning was the wait - though we had made (admittedly last minute) online reservations, we had to wait 20-25 minutes for a table to free up. We also had to wait a while despite reservations the first time I went - seems like maybe they should figure out their system better. We got the charred cauliflower appetizer, two pizzas - the fennel chicken sausage and the grilled artichoke and pesto - as well as the lasagna bolognese and the poke bowl. Everyone found their dishes really yummy - I was a fan of the lasagna, even more than the sausage pizza I got, which was good but not particularly standout. I also particularly liked the charred cauliflower - it's a great mix of sour, sweet, and bitter flavors, and very well done. I'd also recommend the Hangover Rx drink - super light and refreshing. I think these were both more delicious than the pizzas. The interior decor is super nice, and our server was very sweet. It's rather loud inside, so I wouldn't expect an intimate conversation. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome restaurant. The food and ambiance was phenomenal. Finally a restaurant that is structured to a lifestyle that I live. Healthy yet delectable. The first restaurant where I can indulge without fretting about if I'm ruining my health. First, the ginger lime beverage was absolutely fantastic. Since I had it, it's been on my mind. I'm a ginger fiend because of the plethora of benefits ginger has. Ginger aids in digestion, boosts the immune system and more. Most people can't handle gingers spiciness but due to the pandemic of 2020, it had been my determination to protect myself through food aka medicine and ginger has been the main ingredient that I focused on. So now my tolerance for the spiciness of ginger have dramatically increased. I asked the waitress if the ginger lime drink is made from real ginger root juiced in house or just a ginger extract? She assured me it was the ginger root. Then i proceeded to ask what is the ratio of the pure ginger lime concentrate to the seltzer water, she said it's probably 75 percent seltzer water and 25 percent ginger lime concentrate. So then I asked, can it be possible if my drink can be made mostly of the ginger lime concentrate and less of the seltzer water. I wanted this because the ginger will enhance the digestion of my meal and will settle my stomach. The waitress agreed. When she brought the drink, it was in fact pure ginger root. The drink was magnificent. A tiny bit sweet from the honey and just the right amount of bubbles from the seltzer water that made it refreshing. I loved it. I definitely tasted the intensity of the ginger but the right balance of sweet and bubbles. I never ever order a refill but at this restaurant the waitress made the drink so perfect, i ordered a refill. The refill was perfect as the first. My meal consisted of grass fed, grass finished burger protein style (no flaxseed bun) and it was marvelous. Cooked exactly at the right temperature. Medium well. 98 percent brown throughout with just a slight hint of pink to where it wasn't rubber or dry. I wished they could've added more butter lettuce around the meat because I really couldn't pick up the burger but that didn't bother me. Maybe I could've asked extra extra butter lettuce to make it more pliable while holding it. It came with tomato and onion. I don't like condiments so i skipped that. The taste of the pure meat was satisfying enough. I ordered the kale salad. At first, the taste of the kale tasted like they forgot the dressing on the kale or drizzled way too light of amount. This restaurant is based on health but that didn't bother me. I asked for more dressing and they brought out sufficient amount of dressing on the side where I had my own deciding factor on how much dressing I wanted to drizzle. The dressing was a lemony flavor which nicely complimented the kale. The kale salad came with a nice amount of Parmesan cheese and it normally comes with breadcrumbs but I told them to hold the breadcrumbs because I'm trying to decrease my carbohydrate intake. But, I've gone back a few more times and I've really enjoyed my food all the other times. I would highly recommend the salmon with pesto sauce and the Korean noodles! We decided to try out this place after walking past it a couple times for awhile. We really enjoyed our meal. Started off with a butternut squash soup that was delicious and a roasted brussel sprouts appetitzer that was little too burnt but we just pulled away the black leaves and enjoyed the rest. My wife had the fish tacos which was very tasty with the pickled jicama and I loved the margarita pizza which had nice crispy crust. I dined at True Food Kitchen the other day and I fell in love with it! We called and made lunch reservations for 12 to celebrate my grandpa's birthday. The restaurant itself is fairly big with ample amounts of seating inside and outside. The decor is very modern and the restaurant itself has a calm ambiance. I started off my meal with the Honey Lemonade and wowwwwww! It was so delicious. I normally do not like lemonade because it is too sweet and/or too tart, but this was just the right amount of both. For my meal, I ordered the grass-fed burger with a side of kale salad. The burger was cooked perfectly and was incredibly flavorful. I also realized the next day that I had an easier time digesting the burger compared to regular beef. The kale salad was delicious as well, but a little too acidic for my taste. The rest of the party seemed to enjoy their meals as well. But, my sister ordered the steak tacos and although they were good, the entirety of the dish was just very sweet. So if you order that dish, be prepared for that. As far as service goes, it was alright. The drinks took a little time to arrive but the food came out quickly. Our server was very neautral, not horrible but not amazing. Maybe she was having an off day. Overall, I loved True Food for its extensive menu, beautiful ambiance, and great food. Balanced with multiple flavors coming through. Citrus Colada 7/10 Fruity cocktail which is nice for those who like cocktails that taste like juice. What piqued my interest initially was the lemongrass, but I couldn't taste much of it in the cocktail. I ordered the redfish, which was not that great. The shape of the fillet was uneven, so most of it was dry. There were a couple bites that were quite good, though. I mentioned this to the server who got a small discount for me because of it. This one truly the only thing I didn't enjoy during my meal. My aunt ordered a Carrot Tumeric drink, which was surprisingly delicious - highly recommended! The food here was served in rather small portions and left my family and I wanting a bit more, but what they lacked in quantity was made up in quality! For starters, we got their Avocado Toast and Edamame Dumplings. I'm not one to usually order Avocado Toast, but something about theirs was perfect for me (not a big avocado fan tho so it wasn't drenched in avo). The Edamame Dumplings blew my mind away - the bits of truffle oil with the edamame filling was unlike anything I've tasted before! We also ordered a Butternut Squash pizza, which was vegan - crisp dough, small cubes of butternut squash, delicious cashew cheese - would come back just for this again. Quinoa Johnny cakes looked simple, but soft, fluffy, with pieces of banana interspersed. It's so flavorful, and so good with every single bite. For an appetizer, I'd recommend their roasted cauliflower. It comes with this mild spiced sauce that completes the dish. Their Moroccan chicken however, is on ANOTHER LEVEL!!! The chicken breast is extremely soft, and the pop of garbanzo beans completes the texture.
