First time here! We'd heard so much about this place and really wanted to try these desserts for ourselves. We came right around opening and there were already quite a few people, but thankfully no line. Everything was still available, so we got the strawberry, mango, and lemon desserts, plus a box of ice cream. We tried the lemon one there - and it was really good! The center is super runny, though, so be careful because it can get messy fast The strawberry was definitely my favorite - such an interesting combination with a really bright strawberry flavor. The mango was good too, but I probably should have gone with a different fruit. The ice cream was honestly a 5/10 for me. You can find similar, or even better, ice cream at a dollar store, so I'd skip that The strawberry lemonade, on the other hand, was SO good! Not too sweet, with a nice tart flavor. Definitely recommend it! The café itself was clean, cute, and welcoming, and the staff was friendly. Would I come back? Probably not. I think these desserts are more of a trendy experience that everyone should try at least once. I'm glad we did, and the quality here is definitely great - I just don't think I'm going to become a fan of this type of dessert.

My friend and I got into LA the night before a concert and had some extra time, so we knew we absolutely had to make a stop at Tu Cha. We've seen all the viral fruit pastries online, and were so excited to try them. When we got in, we were able to see all of the options on display and they had a big menu telling you exactly what was in each one. You order off of a kiosk, which makes it incredibly easy to order. Almost all of our pastries were ready before we had even left the kiosk, which was great! I went with the mango and the peach, both of which were fantastic! The shortbread cookie underneath both was delicious, the mango mousse and filling tasted so fresh and amazing. The peach had an Earl Grey cream and fresh peach chunks as well. Both were in the classic white chocolate shell. These are so cute, fun to eat, very refreshing, and not overly sweet. The shop itself is adorable, plenty of seating, great decor and the staff was super friendly and very nice! These fruit pastries have absolutely gone viral, and there's many shops that do them, but Tu Cha is hands-down, the best!
I've been eyeing Tu Cha for a long time and the viral fruit desserts looked too pretty to eat! But first, don't even bother getting this to go on a hot day with an ice bag (extra .91 cents). Eat it there or in the car because it WILL melt! Even so, my reaction for the mango filling was underwhelming. The filling was just mango mousse with a few pieces of mango inside. My friends and I liked the outer chocolate shell and that was about it. The size of the mango was probably even smaller than I expected and for the price point, it was only worth trying it once. Sadly the Bing Chillin Bites were also sold out too, but I most likely won't be coming back to the location just to get them!
For almost $30 small desserts, I was disappointed. The peach didn't have a lot of flavor and wouldn't recommend. Berry cube had old strawberries and some gray spots on the cube, but the flavor was fine. I liked the flavor combination of the berry cube!
Trenched through traffic with my fam to try this place out! It is nestled between large buildings on a busy street with enough parking (you may have to cross a street after finding a spot). What I loved: Dubai dream cake! Hands down worth the drive, it's the best dessert option they have. Creamy balanced flavors, well layered, and with a texture that is irresistibly fun to eat. I love the heart container. We bought almost all of every piece dessert except for two along with the ice cream bites. Needless to say, we were not impressed. Each pastry had the same lingering aftertaste which was odd, the fresh strawberry topping was old, the gelatin like texture did not complement the watery centers, and the outside chocolate shell had no flavor. Of course, if you like these details of texture, you may dig it! Just definitely not for me. The ice cream bites resemble a frozen yogurt like texture and although I appreciate the all natural fruit product, the flavors didn't quite come through. The space inside is small, clean, and cozy. We weren't really warmly welcomed but did receive a kind goodbye after we picked up our order and had tipped generously. The Togo boxes could use improvement as they were so flimsy and hard to store in the fridge. The carry out bag is SO nice though. We're happy to have supported the business but will not drive out there again. Try your luck, it is fun to explore!
I was excited to try the desserts here and didn't expect it to by super pricey. I got 3 cakes to try: mango, lemon, and strawberry, and the fruit ice cream. The presentation of the cakes do look nice however there was nothing special about the taste. It somewhat just tasted like mousse cake and it was underwhelming. The ice cream tasted a bit like plastic or wax. I would not get desserts from here due to the price and taste of the desserts. I would rather go elsewhere for cake/ice cream.
I was so dissatisfied with my visit. I got the mango and it literally fell apart. Had been to Altadena first and loved it, this doesn't compare. Tried 3- rasperry, mango and strawberry came to over $50. No it was not good. The mango fell apart and the middle ended up all down my shirt, it was not set. Worst $50 ever spent. I will not go back.
I got my man go and it tasted fantastic. The mouse was amazing and paired perfectly with the fresh mango chunks. The whole vibe of the store was calm and I loved the asthetic. The people were so nice but I didn't get to see Catherine but other then that everything was amazing. I think that it was a bit expensive because I spent $ 90 on 6 desserts.
If you're in Los Angeles, make a stop at Tucha. We tried their viral peach and mango cake, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. These trompe-l'œil pastries--French desserts designed to "deceive the eye" by looking like real fruit--are as impressive as they are delicious. Light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, with just the right touch of sweetness. We also had their matcha drink, which was just as good. A bit pricey, but worth the indulgence.
Incredibly expensive for the lack of proper technique. I think perhaps the wave of social media hype may have temporarily overwhelmed the team, or maybe the new hires weren't trained long enough to put out consistent work. They seemed kind of confused. My Man Go: 2/10. A trompe l'œil pastry designed to look like a mango, filled with fresh mango, mango mousse, and sitting atop a hazelnut praline cookie. For starters, the chocolate shell was soft and lacked the crispness of properly tempered chocolate. Either that, or it had started melting due to improper temperature regulation in the case. The fresh mango was overripe and had no texture; the mousse was similarly made of overripe mango and was room temperature. The praline was not made properly, and had zero structure. I don't really understand how all of these things can be true when it appears as though the pastries are sitting in a refrigerated case. What a waste of mango. Interior was standard, no decorations. TVs playing Tik Tok reviews. Tables were all dirty, probably because of the lack of structural integrity of the pastries.
We've been wanting to try this place because of how beautiful the cakes look. We stopped by here to try it. We got the mango and the raspberry one. Both were underwhelming. Taste was too creamy with no prominent flavor. The texture melted almost as soon as you get into it. Although very pretty, didn't love it and would not come back.

This is a neat little place. Staff are super friendly. Service is really quick. And the store has plenty of space to bring friends and family to share in the experience. The desserts are fun and whimsical while built with taste pairings that expand your palate. I really loved trying the various options. They are a little pricey, but in my opinion, well deserved given the artistic and flavor combinations. read more
First, parking is difficult because of street parking, but they do have a sign outside that indicates they have free parking at 2850 W 7th St. Second, you self-order and pay at kiosks at the front. You can see the desserts packaged and in the display right beside them. The only two options left at 8pm on a Friday were the citron and the Cherry Different. The staff pretty much called out our name and handed us the dessert right away from the display. Now, for the dessert: I tried the Cherry Different. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but given how cute the dessert is, I expected a bit more. The dark chocolate shell wasn't flavorful/tasty or texturally pleasant, outside of the initial thin, crispy bite. It didn't really melt smoothly, so the mouthfeel just wasn't great. The mousse was light but lacked flavor. The cherry filling did taste like cherry and made it a bit better, but the chocolate cake layer was dry, crumbly, and lacking in presence (flavor and ratio-wise). It felt and tasted like it had been made in advance, so it didn't seem fresh and worth the cost. Side note: there's one unisex bathroom that is kind of the first thing you see when you walk in and is also right next to all of the seating. While the lock seemed to work, the occupied (red) and unoccupied (green) markings just seemed to stay on red, even when unoccupied. Overall, while I really wished it lived up to the hype, I wouldn't go through the effort to come back to Koreatown and try another one of these desserts. read more
We came from out of town to see the hype of these beautiful desserts made at Tu Cha. We arrived quite early, like 3 hours to opening early. My mom was more afraid we would arrive and the desserts would be gone. And she really wanted to try these desserts. So we waited outside of the cafe and watched the workers come in and out of the cafe. They were in the zone and I was really impressed how they maneuvered through with all of the supplies in their hands. We even got to see the owner in action. (She's so pretty) We got inside and the cafe was so small and cute! Like it was so pretty. They had 2 kiosks to order from and the cashier. I got all 6 desserts, and 4 drinks. Each dessert except the matcha cake were $14. Matcha cake was $22. I had a hazelnut latte. It was delicious. The desserts were pretty good. I really liked the Berry3. I honestly enjoyed these desserts with my guests. My mom was very satisfied and loved the Citron. Definitely skip the Dubai Cake. It's not it. It's overpowering and less dessert than anything. Bathroom was un stocked and dirty :( the parking wasn't so bad. The seating was perfect. I enjoyed the service of the staff. Super sweet and quick too. Can't wait to come back :) Overall it was fun. read more
I've seen Tu Cha all over social media, so I was excited to try it, but honestly, it was a little disappointing especially for the price. The cakes are super cute for photos, but they don't taste that good. Service, however is super fast and they're really friendly. Tried the lemon one, which has a passion fruit filling, but it immediately dripped everywhere and was super messy. If you're going for the aesthetic, it's cute for pics, but if you're looking for good dessert, it's pretty overhyped. read more
I hate it when food vloggers highly recommend something, only to be disappointed afterwards, wasting my time and money. Or when they hype it up and again, you're left underwhelmed. BUT... this did NOT happen at Tu Cha. I've been following Catherine since...IDEK. Her desserts are always so easy to follow. So when I found out she opened up a DESSERT cafe in my home State, well, OF COURSE, it's going to be on my itinerary when I am in town. Note: I don't like driving in L.A. traffic. It is the worst having grown up here, it's just no fun. BUT... if it's WORTH the drive, I will do it over and over again. Was it worth the drive?! 100% Parking is further down toward Hoover St in this green covered fenced.... YARD parking lot labeled "Tu Cha Free Parking." After you park, turn left onto 7th St. It's a short walk to the cafe. We walk in and it's quite busy that we didn't know if we were going to be able to enjoy our desserts inside. After we placed our order at the self service kiosk, we found that most people were taking out and a table happen to open up, perfect! When I left the house, DD wanted to try the strawberry cube dessert (Berry3) and I had my heart set on the Mango . Upon ordering, the mango was sold out . We looked over the other desserts and the Citron was calling my name. Drinks were a must as well as I was sold on "Coconut Foam." I got the latte and DD got the Matcha Latte. The desserts came out by the time we sat. We immediately unboxed, took pics and delved right in with the Berry 1st since Citron was more tart. Love the strawberry chocolate shell. Filling was nice and not too sweet. Good flavor. The pistachio ball was flavorful and a great combo with the other ingredients. I just wished the pistachio ball didn't separate from the rest of the dessert, making it more cohesive in one scooped bite KWIM? Overall, delicious still. 4/5 Next was the Citron. The moment we cracked the shell, and filling flowed out like a dim sum lava bun, I just KNEW that this dessert was going to hit every mark for me. Indeed, it most definitely did. From the perfectly balanced flavors of yuzu and passion fruit to the cheesecake and crust. OH. M. GEE. I mean, I knew to achieve the combo of these flavors perfectly without being overly sweet or overly tart (with tending to happen in most lemony citrusy tarty desserts), there had to have been so many trial and errors to GET IT RIGHT. Like DAMN! The last time I remember having a dessert this refined, down to a science, was....hmmm... probably at the French Laundry or Per Se. When I say I will CRAVE this dessert from 400 miles away back home, I will have dreams about it, it was THAT good. To think, it was my Plan B when mango was sold out. 5/5 M'Kay. Onto the drinks. I mean, let's be honest, most boba tea places are like run of the mill for me in So Cal especially in SGG, where I generally frequent. But this changed my limits to venture out more toward the west side when I am in town. Coconut Foam wasn't just any Coconut Foam. Like the flavors teleported me back to South East Asia. The coconut flavor tasted like it came straight from a fresh cracked coconut and the juices were extracted to make the foam. That is the only way I can describe my 1st sip. I wished I ordered a larger size. Ugh. The latte part of the drink was bold, nicely sweetened with good coffee espresso flavor. 5/5 DD enjoyed her matcha. She liked the coconut foam. Her boba was tender. It was a bit on the mushy side for me. 4/5 I would not shut up about my whole experience walking back to the car and during the whole time we were driving to Grove. I cannot wait to come back and try the Mango next time. Probably should come early or preorder on my way to the café again. So happen Tu Cha exists! read more
We came wanting to try the mango and yuzu but the yuzu was already sold out. Presentation wise, the desserts look beautiful. I was surprised the mango had a hazelnut interior and I kind of wish there was a stronger mango flavor although I did think it was still tasty. Parking was not the easiest - was lucky to find metered parking on a nearby street and walked over. read more
Parking lot is about 1-2 blocks away from the store. Entrance is a little shady and the parking lot itself looks like a not developed empty dirt lot. It took about 30 minutes from line up to receiving the order. One thing that bothered me was that sold out items were still shown as available at the order kiosk, so I was forced to choose from what they still had available during pick up. The citron and mango cake were both aesthetically pleasing and photogenic. However, I was a little disappointed how it tastes. It wasn't too sweet but it wasn't anything deliciously memorable. Perhaps I was expecting a little more given its price tag. Overall, I'm still willing to return to try out other non-fruit theme cakes. If you are into cute looking desserts and are not too picky with how it tastes, then it's worth giving Tu Cha a chance. read more
My Man Go is delicious! Fragrance is wonderful. Very cheerful while enjoying every bite. Peachy has a bare hint of tea flavor. More creamy, very minimal flavor. It's beautiful and an art. I recommend online order. Some online items were sold out but available for in store purchase. Service was professional and quick. read more
My Man Go (4/5) and Berry3 (2/5). The mango dessert was really yummy! I could taste the different levels of textures from the shell to the mousse and mango. The Berry3 was too sour for my liking. I also didn't like how hard the pistachio was. We couldn't poke through it with a spoon. I wish the desserts came in better packaging because it's messy to eat it on the small box with the shell getting everywhere. read more
Tu Cha's mini desserts are adorable, photogenic, and surprisingly diverse in flavor--but not all of them hit the same way. Here's my personal ranking: * Berry: 9/10 - Tangy, creamy, and perfectly balanced. I could've eaten five. * Lemon: 8.5/10 - Zesty with a silky texture. Bright without being too sharp. * Peach: 7/10 - Light and floral, but heavy on the "mousse". * Mango: 6/10 - Pretty to look at, but the nut butter flavor threw me off Cute spot overall--ideal for a casual catch-up or a solo treat-yourself moment. We were super excited to see if these desserts would live up to the hype and unfortunately it was a fail. The best thing was the ice cream bites that came in the cup; although I was hesitant to buy it for over $20 a cup. Turned out to be the best bang for the buck. We tried 3 more very small cakes and walked out spending a little less than $80...definitely not a cheap dessert place. The cakes have a mushy consistency filling and flavor wasn't all there. The chocolate pinecone was our favorite but still not worth the $15 we paid for such a tiny bite. I wouldn't recommend it, you can go to H mart grocery store and buy their ice cream desserts and cakes for a fraction of the cost and will taste the same if not better. We were sadly disappointed. read more

Desserts 4/5 - Awesome Concepts (Est. $14-$17) Drinks 5/5 - Super Refreshing & loved (Est. $5-$7) Parking is tough, as any KTown/DT area is. Ambiance is modern & cafe-esque, great music. As Reels/Videos came all over Instagram, was able to drop by to pickup a few goodies for a friend's birthday & the experience was great! From the desserts, we loved the matcha cake & the mango ones the most. The dessert concept follows kinda like a present with a beautiful crispy layered wrapping followed by an amazing creamy filling curated gift inside. The fruit & milk tea drink selections were great & loved a different take on the toppings with the jasmine chew jellies. TuCha seems to also rotate in new concepts/menu items every now and then as well! read more

Tucha offers some truly unique desserts -- I've never had anything quite like them. The thin, crunchy outer shell is super delicate and addicting, adding the perfect texture to every bite. I absolutely loved the peach dessert; the Earl Grey mousse paired with the fresh, tart peach filling created a beautiful balance of flavors without being overly sweet. I also tried the Bing Chilling Bites. While they were fun and interesting to try, the $23 price felt a bit high for the amount of ice cream pieces you get. Still, it was a cool experience at least once. Overall, the desserts were delicious and memorable. I'd definitely like to come back and try the mango one next! read more

Came here for the viral beautiful cakes! My friend and I ordered three cakes to try- the citron, mango, and berries. We didn't realize the fruit puree inside was runny... it is kinda messy to eat. The cake is basically just cream and fruit puree with white chocolate on the outside. It looks pretty but probably wouldn't get it again. It's self order and they hand it to you pretty quick after you order. There's a free parking lot half a block up the street- which was much appreciated. read more

Stop by after eating sushi because my munchkin wanted to try this viral dessert . My favorite was the citron and my daughter's was the devil fruit . We used a self service kiosk to order and did not wait too long for our order . The place is not too spacious and there was limited seating , so we decided to take it to go . The pastries were delicious, though I did feel they were a bit pricey for their size. Still, the overall experience was fantastic. read more
Honestly very tasteful desserts but for the price and size of portion i was kinda disappointed by the size and portions of the desserts . I thought they would be much larger , one of the summer specials was sold out so i couldn't try one i wanted to . Definitely gonna be in competition with aurora on the portions sizes. And as of today , i tried aurora & tu cha definitely surpassed in taste and quality . i definitely recommend coming here over aurora . Plus i had came in the afternoon and they still had desserts and only one sell out . read more
Visited Tu Cha on a Tuesday afternoon. We parked across the street on street parking with parking meter. As soon as we walked in, there was a line. The place was busy but not too busy. Just the right amount of traffic. It wasn't congested. However the place is small and can only accommodate a few guests for seating. The employee at the counter was very helpful as she informed us they don't have anything that is peanut free nor nut free. Everything they make has the risk of cross contamination. The pasties are all made on top of cookies that have nuts. Tu Cha is not food allergy friendly. Such creative and beautiful dessert artistry. Too bad we didn't get to try them. read more

I finally caved and tried these fruit ice cream bites after being relentlessly targeted by TikTok like the weak-willed person I am. Let me start with the good: they do taste good. The fruit flavor is legit, the texture is fun, and you can tell there's real effort and craftsmanship involved. No notes on quality. But. $25?! For this amount? I understand there's labor involved, and I respect the hustle, but at the end of the day I'm eating a handful of frozen fruit bites, not adopting a child. They're a fun treat, and I don't regret trying them once, but this is very much a "cute splurge for the experience" and not an "I'll be buying these regularly" situation. TikTok made them look like a lifestyle. My wallet says they're a special occasion. Would I recommend them? Sure, once. Would I reorder? Not unless I win the lottery or they double the portion. read more

Finally, we made it here! My daughter had been wanting to come so badly, so we drove for an hour and finally arrived. There was a short wait, but since you order through a kiosk, it didn't take long at all. There aren't many tables, so it can be hard to sit and eat, but if you're lucky, you might get a seat to enjoy your dessert. We ordered four desserts, and they packed them nicely in a very cute to-go bag. Each dessert had the same crunchy texture on the outside with a soft and smooth filling inside, which was really enjoyable. I definitely recommend coming at least once to experience their unique desserts. read more

Still crazy cool but definitely not my jam but had to take friend who has never been and he absolutely loved it!! Crazy the amount of delicious delicate details that go into these amazing little deserts!!! Highly recommend at least trying once!! Cute little space but parking can be problematic so be patient!! The three that I ended up buying was the devil fruit, citron, and my mango. The total came out to be $45. These are the size of my palm and were just so tiny. After eating it, I definitely do not think it is worth it. I'm giving it a two star because maybe to other people this is delicious but I am not one of those people. I liked the outer shell but only because it was sweet. I ate this with my family and we all have different taste preferences but we all agreed that this was not as good as we wished it was. Putting the cost and taste together, if it is your first time trying it and you were so curious then I would say get one and one only. Overall, service was nice but again I do think you could get better quality for a better price somewhere else. read more

This place has been going viral on social so obviously I was curious and had to come try it. We ended up getting the mango, peach and devil fruit. The mango was amazing! Super airy and tastes exactly like mango. The devil fruit was also really good with a tart aftertaste. Unfortunately the peach was super mid and neither of us liked it. I'm not sure if I will come back again because each is pretty price at almost $15 for a pretty small piece of cake. This was more like $10 each. But this was definitely worth a visit at least one time! read more
Came here because my bf heard great things about it. We found street parking a few blocks away and walked, but I didn't see any parking lots/structures that would be specific for this place. The store was pretty busy when we went on a Saturday afternoon. There was a line to order, and most of the desserts were already sold out. There's no outdoor seating, and some indoor seating, most of which was taken. It is a lively place, so it probably isn't the best place to study/work if you need some quiet time. I got their matcha coconut (3/5): I couldn't really taste the coconut in the drink. It just tasted like a regular matcha latte, but also a little watered down and the matcha flavor wasn't that great. For the price (almost $8), I didn't think it was worth it. My man go (5/5): this dessert was really good! I love the presentation and the portion was reasonable. The outside is a solid thin chocolate layer that you can crack, and inside is cream, cake, and mango chunks. I shared this with my bf and we were able to finish the whole thing, although I wouldn't be able to finish this on my own. The price of these desserts are pricey, but I do think it's worth it to try it given that you can tell the attention to detail they placed on the flavor and presentation of these desserts. I'd definitely try another dessert from here again! read more

I got the berry3 after seeing many reviews on social media. The shell was good but the inside was more of a jelly texture than a cream texture that we were expecting. Wasn't sure if it wasn't fresh or is supposed to look like that? Also a very small pistachio filling in the middle; but overall not worth the $14.50 price tag. read more

My son saw it on Tik Tok so OF COURSE we had to go check it out! It's a quaint lil spot with desserts that could be a bit colder imo; bit into the mango & peach desserts and they both kinda fell apart easily) but my son loved it and that's all that matters. Flavor wise they were not what I expected, the mango didn't have much mango flavor and the peach didn't taste like much of anything to me. The best part of both, for me, was this Graham base they had The service was good though, and my son was able to order & pay himself when he wanted seconds so I loved that! Spent almost $30 on two desserts and a drink, so, totally not worth the price for the taste/value, but my son enjoyed it and was able to show off to his friends, so that made all the difference! read more

Dessert: Dubai Pistachio and My Man Go Price: $22.00 | $14.50 Overall: This place blew up on Tiktok (Shoutout Catherine Zhang) and the desserts are indeed sooo pretty! We came on a Sunday around 12pm and it wasn't crowded. We also ordered ahead of time as well (I was afraid they would sell out hehe). The My Man Go tasted exactly what it should be, it was mango forward and I really like the hazelnut praline. The star of this place is probably the Dubai Pistachio! I just love the matcha with the pistachio knafeh that I had to save some. Another thing to point out is that these were not too sweet! I would def come back to try the other desserts! This is one of those places where social media hypes up the spot, but the hyped up food are actually disappointing. I ordered the mango and strawberry cakes, which looked pretty amazing and difficult to make. First issue is the portion: the portion was smaller than I expected; both cakes were smaller than my hand. Second issue is the price: these cakes are very pricey for the portion size (at least $15). Third issue is the flavors. The flavors individually were good, but the flavors combined did not go well together and did not even get infused together well. The cream and the nutty ball parts of the cake weren't merged or fused together, so it was as if I was eating a layer of one cake and then eating a layer of a completely unrelated cake even though it's one cake. Fourth issue is the quality. The cakes were premade (as expected) and resulted in disappointing tasted, but the cakes would have tasted better had the cakes been chilled. The desserts are amazing! Genuinely some of the best desserts I have ever had. You can tell they put a lot of time and effort in creating the food items. If you love semi-sweet matcha, the matcha cake will definitely make your heart burst. I will come back and order this every time! The mango and raspberry treats were also wonderful! First time at Tu Cha after seeing it all over my feed for months! It's clear they put a lot of time and effort into perfecting each dessert. I ordered their osmanthus tea with jasmine jelly, which has a pleasantly strong and deep floral flavor. We also got the mango dessert and matcha dream cake. The mango dessert was very sweet and satisfyingly crunchy, however the kanafeh in the matcha cake grows soft quickly under the layer of matcha cream. I would recommend eating that cake within 20-30 minutes of purchasing it. Orders came out pretty quickly (around 10 minutes) for a Saturday afternoon. Parking is unfortunately very difficult in this part of Ktown. As a last resort, have someone in your group pick up the order inside while the DD drives around the block. Tu Cha is definitely worth a try for those who like fruity desserts. read more
I have been following Catherine.eats on Instagram for a while, and I wanted to support her new business in Los Angeles! I inquired about their store opening hours because it wasn't posted on Google, but they never responded. After about a week, I saw that more info was posted on Google. I decided to visit on a week day to avoid long weekend lines. Google said they opened at 11 AM, but when I got there at 10:30 AM, the signage said 12 PM. We even saw people going in and out of the store at 10:30 AM, so we were def confused. We then saw a sign that said they have free parking in a nearby lot, so we came back at 11:30 AM. There was a line outside already. Ordering is via kiosk. They had 2 or 3 of these tall ones at the counter. The menu on the wall said there was a promo to buy 2 cakes for $25, but there was no promo code displayed. When we asked the server, she said she would check. When she came back, she said that sign was for the grand opening only. (Grand opening was over 2 weeks ago X.X) Also we were disappointed that the chocolate cube was sold out. We ended up ordering a signature tea drink, Dubai matcha dream cake, and citron cake. Another note: citron cake was listed at $12.50 on the menu, but on the kiosk it was $13. The tea was good - toasted genmaicza milk tea with osmanthus chew-silk jelly $7.25. The topping was good! The Dubai matcha dream cake was $22 but a huge let down and so not worth. It tasted like they made it last night or a couple days ago and left it in the fridge. The matcha was overpowering. The pistachio on the bottom left us wanting more of it. The citron cake was such a small portion irl, but the citron flavor was great. I also want to note that we found hair in the citron cake. !!!!! (see photo) This grossed us out, so I took it to Susan (?), one of the employees who looked like was in charge. She apologized profusely and offered us a mango cake on the house. The mango had good flavor, but it was just so traumatizing. I can't see myself coming back. These desserts were absolutely beautiful and delicious. The presentation alone was stunning--minimal, vibrant, and almost too pretty to eat. But once you cut in, they really delivered. The textures were light and creamy with just the right balance of sweetness, never overpowering. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made, not artificial or overly sugary. The strawberry dessert was a standout: bright, fruity, and smooth with a nice contrast between the soft mousse and the base underneath. The peach dessert was lighter and more delicate, subtly sweet and refreshing--perfect if you like desserts that don't feel heavy. read more
I agree with my fellow Yelpers; let's be real: the desserts are pricey, lolol. It's definitely beautiful and very aesthetic, but in this economy it's expensive LOLOL. Tu Cha is trending right now because it's Koreatown's newest dessert and boba place from the winner of Netflix's Just Desserts, Season 2, Catherine Zhang. Be aware because there's a lot of hype right now, so some desserts may be sold out. So I recommend you call ahead to find out, especially if you plan to drive out here from far away. Some of the popular desserts are the aesthetic berry and mango desserts, which are super cute. Saw these pastries on tiktok so I made the trip to LA from AZ to come try them! It was definitely worth it. The pastry chefs here do an amazing job, you can really see the dedication in the flavors, colors, and overall presentation. We tried the Oh my Gourd, Berry3, Citron, and the Devil Fruit. Let me first share that I love Zumbo's Just Desserts on Netflix. The show was what made me want to try out this little dessert cafe and yes, I had super high expectation. Desserts: 3/5 We got the Berry^3 and the My Man Go. Both desserts looked amazing and visually stunning. However, they definitely look better than they taste. The Berry^3 was messy. The chocolate coating was basic but super hard to spoon and eat. The inside was a little mushy but nothing special. The best part was the pistachio center, it was rich and not too sweet. The mango dessert was the better of the two. It also had a chocolate shell that was not the easiest to eat. It tasted good, but beyond the Instagram-ability, it wasn't anything too special. Service: 4/5 It was very transactional. We ordered everything through the kiosk, our server gave us our premade cakes that were already on display. Honestly, the shop seems like just a front. This all could've been a dessert ATM/vending machine like Sprinkles cupcake or something. Practicality: 2/5 I feel like these cakes are here for aesthetic and less for flavor or taste. The box that it comes in is cute but super wasteful. The bottom of the box has a hole so when we tried to share it with our group (with spoons) everything broke and spilled over. a one and done. was in the LA area, so we decided to try tu cha out after seeing all the hype on social media. it wasn't a really welcoming atmosphere since there was minimum interaction with employees. they didn't say much to us, but were talking amongst themselves. they only ever spoke to us when the desserts were ready. all the desserts look kinda cute too, but almost 40$ for this ?? that's kinda crazy considering none of it lived up to our expectations. social media really over exaggerated it. for the desserts, we tried the berry3 and the my man go, which i believe are mousse based desserts. and the fruit tea as our drink. the mousse in the desserts was rather dense than airy, making it gelatinous. i guess it makes sense since it needs to hold its shape, but adding that texture to the flavor makes it taste kinda gross. as for the flavors, the fruitiness is very subtle, and the one taste that stands out the most was a light sourness from the mousse and some nuttiness from the fillings. so basically we felt like we were eating a sour, milky, and nutty jello. sad to say the fruit tea was the best item out of the three we ordered and just the pistachio filling in the berry3 comes next. this is one of those places where you try it once to see what the hype is about, realize it's not only over hyped but also over priced, and never come back. read more
I really wanted to love this place but, the amount they charged for their desserts hurts my wallet so much First off the parking is really hard to find but, the employee told me that they have parking on the side somewhere. The wait for the dessert is pretty long, it wasn't that busy and I still had to wait a good 15-20 mins. Let's get to the desserts: my man go, pretty small for $15 dollars, taste like a mango but, frozen inside which I didn't like. Matcha pistachio cake, decent size and pretty good, but I wouldn't come back for it, because of the price of $22 dollars. Oh and the container they put the cake in is hard to open. Considering it's been a few months since the peak virality of the fruit-shaped pastries, do they still sell out fast? I'm only able to come at the end of the day at 7pm so I want to know what my selection will be, if there will even be anything left
I went during the week after dinner (around 8pm) and they had nearly all the flavors still in stock, I think only ran out of 1?
Do the desserts contain animal gelatin?
How long can the fruit desserts last if I'm taking a 3 hour flight back home? Is it not recommended? My daughter has been wanting to try.
It won't last since the inside contains ice cream and will melt by 3 hours time.
Where is the parking for this place? is it difficult to park? Will be traveling a long way want to be prepared!
