Came here for step 2 of my regularly scheduled B&B (Botox and Bite to eat). I have driven by Tuscan Son many times -- very convenient spot with plenty of parking on the street and in the back -- but this was the first time I've gotten to eat here. Split a sandwich and the grilled shrimp salad with my girl friend and regular B&B date. The menu was not very large - was hoping for a few other sandwich options but went with their specialty chicken panini. The lady at the counter said they were backed up so it might take a while, but the food came out fresh and relatively fast. We sat outside on a beautifully sunny day and enjoyed their outdoor patio area. The food itself was honestly just ok. The shrimp in the salad was not flavorful, and the rest of the salad was rather basic lettuce and raw broccoli. The house dressing was ok too, not bad not amazing. Of everything, I was impressed most with the bread on the sandwich. So crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. Looking at their other baked goods, I might assume the bakery part of Tuscan Son might be better than the lunch part. The cakes and baked goods they had on display looked spectacular. Next time I am around I will probably pick one of these up instead of a sandwich. read more

Cute spot! My family member from NYC that loves French Italian Euro type cafe vibes chose this place to celebrate a family bday and vacay. Good for large groups - We had a part of 11 and sat outside and had one umbrella two heaters and plenty of space and didn't need the umbrella or the heaters as it was a warm day at sunset and while the evening got cool it wasn't cool enough to need the heaters. But I imagine on a warm day outside mid day you'd want the umbrella if seated outside and on a cool evening you'd want the heaters. So that's a nice to know option! Also given the pandemic state still, it's very nice to sit a large group outside! The bakery - get ready for a diabetic love/oh no moment! Lots of delicious options! Had the chocolate chip cookie at home warm and it was nummy! Would love it with pecans walnuts macamadia nuts or whatevs. The brownie cheesecake is good but they can lose the chocolate topping altogether, it's too much and hard to eat because it hardens when cold. The cream cheese muffin is sweet but good. The peach cake is dense and yummy, think olive oil cake style. The wedding cookie is huge and as expected. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their pastries or desserts. The food - I got the truffled Mac and cheese which was cheesy truffly goodness! The pasta was cooked perfect. Served hot in a skillet! I also got the steak and broccoli which was average. The steak lacked flavor but they give you chimichurri sauce which was good. The broccoli had Parmesan or something sprinkled on it but it wasn't helping lol. Broccoli was good but nothing special. This dish went well with the Mac n cheese. The location and parking is great! You can sit outside and watch the traffic and at night you can see the Temple lit up. Public Parking lot right next door! Service - it's a small place and they seemed short staffed and you order at the register seat yourself unless you have a large group reservation and they bring your food when it's ready. Low maintenance but also low service lol so don't come here to get waited on!! I'll definitely be back. Great spot to take guests visiting from out of town. read more

Wow, what a local gem! We came here on a whim searching for something nearby on Yelp and were very pleasantly surprised. The food is fresh and made with so much care and for West LA a great value. The outdoor patio is one of the prettiest I've seen, with a planter box of fresh flowers at each table. The menu spans fresh made pasta, panini, all day breakfast items (the panino is a must!) and gorgeous farm to table salads. Also freshly baked pastries and desserts. Not crowded during what you'd expect to be a peak brunch time. Plus there is free parking in the attached garage. I can't think of a better overall experience. This place is definitely a best kept secret in WLA. Find it off LITTLE Santa Monica Blvd (it truly is hidden!) right before the century city mall. read more

I've eaten at Tuscan Son a handful of times and enjoyed my experience at this family-run restaurant every time but nothing ever knocked my socks off. That was until I recently tried their Lasagne Della Momma and I can say it was the BEST lasagne I've had in years. Those silken sheets of noodles were amazing, topped with a hearty beef sauce. The portion didn't look that big, but I was completely satiated afterwards. My usual go to is the Breakfast Panino, which sets itself apart from other breakfast sandwiches with the slow-roasted tomato and Italian ham. I also love the roasted rosemary potatoes that come with it. Seating is available indoors and outdoors. No corkage fee. Free parking in the lot. read more

I was in search of an early lunch (10AM) and found Tuscan Son in the process. The place is quaint, well-decorated and very clean inside. Staff was friendly and prices pretty reasonable. I also liked that they had some grocery and deli-style items to-go if you were so inclined. Food was solid, although the portions were a bit small for my tastes. I had the chicken and mushrooms which came in a tasty red sauce. I went with a side of broccoli and parmesan. Broccoli were a bit over steamed but still plenty edible. I wouldn't call this the best Italian lunch I've ever had, but they have decently healthy options, aren't badly priced and a somewhat convenient location for the businesses that surround it. If you're in a pinch for a quick lunch, Tuscan Son should check most of the boxes. read more

Drove a friend to a doc apt and stumbled across this spot. WOW, what a find. Blueberry cheesecake was the best I have ever had, one my grandma would appreciate and sets a very high bar. You would not find this in a cheesecake chain. Friendly staff and we got in and out quick. They are cashless so be prepared to scan a card. Heads up, parking guy is a real weenie and a half, wanted 20 bucks for even 5 minutes?? Lots of spots but he wanted to shake me down anyway. Pulled out front and got 2 hours free. Well, we all know how hard it can be to find authentic food. Come to Tuscan Son in West Los Angeles for some great authentic Italian food. We stopped here a few weeks ago and had breakfast here. I got the Italian Panino meal. Panino Bread comes with it. All the lovely parmessian cheese and garlic. Its all made from scratch here too. Nothing precooked or premade here. Food is reasonably priced for real Italian, and the drinks here are awesome too. Nice vibe and good service here at this hidden gem. We will be back. read more

Every single time I have ordered went or gone here it has been amazing. The food and pastas especially are amazing. The place is small and sometimes crowded but usually with in about five minutes they can get you seated easily. They have their own little bakery too inside the restaurant right next to the check in. VERDICT The food I ordered for my first visit was mediocre, but I might come back to try something different. I will just take my food to go as the loud environment is unpleasant. ATMOSPHERE The seats inside were uncomfortable (and dirty!), so I dined in the outdoor patio. The patio was well decorated and had thoughtful placed plants for privacy. Unfortunately, the outside tables were affected by the noise from the VERY heavy traffic from the street. CLEANLINESS The upholstered benches inside were dirty. My table seemed clean. I did not use the bathroom. SERVICE The staff was friendly. FOOD I ordered the spicy salmon pasta. It was bland. I also ordered the Nutella coffee cake. I found it overly sweet, but not bad tasting. I think others with a stronger sweet tooth might enjoy it. The coffee latte I got was okay. PRICE A little higher than average, especially given the casual dining atmosphere and the small to average portions. ACCESSIBILITY Close to public transportation. Too stimulating (noise) for people that need calm environments. There are limited wide seats inside; the metal chairs dug into my hips. In the patio there is some wider seating available. Wanted to have a casual lunch and this was the perfect place! It's mostly self serve / cafe style where they just bring your food and clean it up but water is self serve on the side table. The pollo verse sandwich was healthy and light! The salad was nothing special but nice to have on the side. The lasagna was sooo good! We came in at 8pm on a Friday night and had an amazing dinner. We shared chicken fungi, garlic spinach and roasted potatoes. Each dish was great. The host was named Casey who was knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. We had a couple of desserts that we took home and enjoyed them very much. Prices seemed very fair. This is by far my favorite restaurant close to our house it is consistently delicious beyond delicious. overall you will be very happy that you ate here. My only gripe is when I order to go you never give Parmesan unless you pay extra for it. Every restaurant I've ever gone to always includes a little bit Parmesan to sprinkle on. Not here you have to pay $1.50 to get a tiny bit and if you forget you get zero. I wish you would just throw some in the bag as a courtesy. I've definitely voiced my opinion about this before and it's never changed. Other than that, this place is beyond delicious so good you will love it. Prices have gone up a bit like everywhere else, but the service is still good & the food still great. The Gladiator was a big meal, with tender medium-rare steak, 2 eggs, tasty crushed avocado, toast, & roast potatoes. The Tuscan Ranchero was very saucy with 2 eggs, chunks of cheese, & veggies, served with a side of roasted potatoes. It should come with bread for the tasty sauce. The chocolate hazelnut cake was awesome; big, moist, & chocolatey. They have lots of other pastries as well. There's a free parking lot next just east, plus street parking. read more

To start, the cashier was not friendly at all, which is tough when you don't feel welcome. I ordered the scramble and the Mr. ordered a different type of scramble. My scramble was nothing but eggs and huge chunks of broccoli, sans any flavor. So, we went back and asked the cashier for some salsa, and she said they only had hot sauce, and was again put out. Truffle Mac & Cheese -- Quite a pleasure. A good serving unlike the pictures I've seen on yelp. Oven-Roasted Broccoli - Broccoli is broccoli even though it is roasted with garlic, red pepper, and some fancy cheese. Needless to say, it did not go well with my Truffle- Mac- & -Cheese. But I'm still glad they offer this healthy side dish. For Italian, my favorite is still Sara-the-Wine-Bar with her Spaghetti Cacio-e- Pepe and Avocado Bruschetta. Her Margherita Pizza is also good and affordable at $10 per order. Next time for Tuscan, I think I will order some salad with my Truffle- Mac- &- Cheese. I may also try another pasta dish -- the one with beef Bolognese. I have become a fan of Bolognese pasta since I watched Stanley Tucci's "Searching for Italy". I usually come here for their dessert because it's always been amazing. It's my first time having lunch and I ordered Steak & Arugula for lunch. The server asked me how I like my steak done and I told her Medium Rare. The food came out and it's well done. There were a couple of pieces with pink in the center but I definitely know what Medium Rare looks like. I asked the server if they can fire another steak because of what mine turned out. He gave me the same plate with the same steak and said that it is medium rare and it's just becauseof the lighting outdoors that's why it didn't look pink. Absolutely love this spot. We're lucky to live close by so we go on brunch dates or pick up food from here on the weekends quite often. I've never had a bad dish here. I love the pollo verde, breakfast sandwich, all the pastas and their meatballs are great too. Their cold brew is phenomenal and their desserts are to die for. The Nutella cheesecake is on another level. They carry an Italian imported brand of pasta that is some of the best dried pasta ever and I drop in to buy pasta here as well. I got Mac and cheese and presentation was incredible. Unfiltered photo of it. The reason for 4/5 is the noodles were a tad over cooked and the cheese I thought just needed a little additional flavor/bite (tad mild for me). It is still fantastic. I'm not exactly sure of how to review this place. I have now been three times and I have slightly mixed feelings. First, the coffee and baked goods are amazingly good. I actually like this place for coffee and cake or a cookie or some other baked good most. It's excellent for that. On the meal side it's harder to decide. I don't eat meat or poultry so my choices are a bit more limited. Some dishes were really good others okay. Meat dishes might be better than what I tried. I will definitely be back for desert. The food is AMAZING. The ONLY reason I am giving 2 stars is because of the cashless system they are enforcing. I really think this is a huge red flag to go cash-less. It is important to know that constant tracking of transactions gives financial institutions and banks surveillance capabilities that have far-reaching consequences. It gives institutions massively invasive powers that can lead to prejudice and discrimination. Have you looked at the history of China (i.e. everything being tracked and the consequences of the government knowing all your spending habits)? Also it will effect access i.e. people who do not have smartphone i.e. many older and homeless ppl will have a hard time paying for their food. I really think it would be wise to RETHINK this rule and allow people to have choices when they pay.
