Great food great service great view of the temple! We shared a dish and then got dessert. They have their own pastry chef! Delicious.

This place is a hidden gem! The team is very friendly and welcoming. I had the Pasta Gamberi&Vodka which is a Penne pasta with shrimp and light pink vodka sauce. The shrimp was fresh ! The light creamy vodka sauce tied everything together! I also had the blueberry cheesecake.

Super authentic northern Italian menu. Good flavors, good service, relaxed vibe (although it is a Monday night). Obviously the outdoor seating has Santa Monica Blvd traffic but it's a good option to have.

Fantastic! We went here for coffee after our burger dinner and noticed the elaborate menu and nice dishes served. We'll be back for those but the coffee was great. Nice service as well, clean place, some Italian hints but not overdone. Just right and with the right details that matter.

Charming Tuscan bistro on Little Santa Monica Blvd with a cute patio. I needed a place to work before my dental appointment a few doors down. I settled on a black Americano and a lemon mascarpone to accompany me and my laptop. I would have preferred to sit outside as the music inside was really loud, but there were only two tables not in the blazing sun, one was occupied and the other wasn't bussed. I don't think there was a manager present that day, as there was a bit of a "when the cat's away, the mice will play" vibe going on. I had another dental appointment a couple weeks later, and I saved my appetite so that I could try more than just a coffee and dessert this time. I tried the spicy salmon pasta. It was enough to pique my interest to try another pasta dish on a future visit. Service was much more invested this time! And music was not obnoxiously loud this time. The music inside was quieter than the traffic noise outside. Also of note to fellow germaphobes, this was one sparkly well kept restroom! More appreciated than you know. Honestly, the exceptionally clean restroom is enough for me to want to pay Tuscan Son more visits.

Bright and cheerful dining experience with indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Selection of pasta, salads, paninis, and baked goods. Everything was fresh and hot. Bread a little softer than I like and butter would have been nice. Self-serve water available. Free validated parking in back of restaurant.

The food, service, and ambiance here are excellent. The portions are huge and equally delish. We chomped on eggplant lasagna and rigatoni with braised beef. We finished in true style with a huge slice of tiramisu. All in all it was fantastic.

Grabbed a slice of Blueberry Cheesecake and it was the most magical sensation my tongue has felt in years! We live in Riverside so sadly won't come often but I'll never forget this place.

Hi! We have free parking on the surface lot behind our building. You can enter the drive way right from little Santa Monica Blvd. Hope to see you soon!

    Do have free onsite parking?

    yes

As a BYO-venue, do you impose a bottle limit?

We are not permitted for alcohol consumption

    Do they have heaters outside?

Hi! Yes we have a beautiful sidewalk dining patio that has several heaters. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

    Do they have vegan options?

Hi Margi. We have tons of vegan options for you. From purée soups to salads to pastas. I’m sure you will find many delicious and fresh options you will enjoy. Hope to see you in soon!

I loved my farmers market margarita, and seed smoke mezcal cocktail, they were not overly boozy, but had been made with an even blend of flavor and dressed with complimentary ingredients. It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

WORDS TO DESCRIBE SAMPA: Elevated dining, speakeasy vibes, quality food and service PARKING: Parking can be difficult since it is close to the Arts District, you may want to park in the Public Parking Lot areas FOOD: Lechon fried rice: This dish was exquisite! I loved all of the colors in the rice, which include the fried pork belly, the golden egg yolks, and the pigments of the atchara (atchara: pickled vegetables such as papaya, scallions, and carrots). When I took my first bite of the fried rice, the blend of all of them together was scrumptious! Yes order this dish! 5/5 STEAKSILOG: I would order just the steak alone! The skirt steak was savory, juicy, and mouthwatering! Yummy! 4.5/5 Kare Kare Tamales: This dish was delicious! Kare Kare is one of my favorite Filipino dishes, so when I saw it paired with tamales I was immediately intrigued. The presentation was beautiful. The flavor was rich and unique. The oxtail was tender and the peanut sauce paired well with the savoriness. 4/5 CHICKEN AND PANDAN WAFFLE: This plate was their take on chicken and waffles. The pandan flavor was there, but I wish the waffle was thick, instead it had a crispy thin cookie like texture. 3.5/5 DRINKS: Bartender has skills! Beauty in the booze! I appreciated the artistry in creating our beverages. I loved the details of the flowers and layers of color. Cheers! All in all I had a great time eating at Sampa! I loved the food and service! I have been here a few times for dinner but this was first time for brunch. I made a reservation, was asked to confirmed reservation 3x, noted it was celebrating a birthday and gave no preference on seating. I arrived on time, but one of my group was parking. There were a few people milling around and I was greeted with "checking in?" No hello, no welcome, no mention of celebrating and told to let them know when entire party arrived. (This is becoming more common to be seated along with a $25 per person fee if I canceled less than 24hrs. I know restaurants are struggling but come on!) I watched as 'walk-ins' were given priority tables and when our party was complete, she was squeezing in a 3rd chair to a small cafe table right by the pass through door. No asking our preference. When she returned to seat us, I said "you're not putting us at that small table are you?" Her response - "yes...unless you want to sit inside." How was that not a conversation first? A professional would have said "I apologize, where would you prefer to sit? I see you made a reservation, are celebrating an event and we had some unexpected guests for seating options." Perhaps she was having a bad day, or was still reeling from a prior customer interaction but she was NOT up to the standards I equate with Manuela. Go for the food but don't think by making a reservation you get any special acknowledgement.
