What a delight. During our recent visit to Chicago, my husband and I decided to spent some time wandering through the LIttle Italy neighborhood. Around dinner time, we happened upon Tuscany and decided to stop for dinner. This place is a treasure. The food was exquisite. My husband had the tagliatelle with bolognese and I had ravioli stuffed with short ribs in a mushroom cream sauce. The flavors were clear like bells and well balanced within each dish. The service was impeccable. There was no hovering, but someone always appeared just at the right moment to refill a glass or remove an empty plate. My biggest regret was not bringing a bigger appetite. read more

My bride's favorite was the Raviolalli Toscani, where the sweet pairs and cheese paired beautifully. She also had a split plate with Trofie Al Pesto, mmmm. My daughter and I shared the Lasagnetta Al Forno Tartufate, where the combination of artisan mushrooms and spec (Parma) made for a savory blend of heavenly pasta. The split was with Spaghetti Con Cozze, with some of the biggest tastiest mussels I've had in a long time. Oh it was all so good. My favorite was the mushroom dish. Excellent food and our waiter, Saul, was awesome. This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago and I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it before. Valet parking is a snap and you can usually get a table on short notice. They also have a nice bar if you need to wait. The menu has plenty of choices. My wife and I brought a friend here and I recommended the veal chop. It wasn't on the menu, but Saul said, no problem and proceeded to offer it in a choice of 3 preparations. Our calamari appetizer was excellent and came with the traditional red cocktail sauce as well as a white sauce, both served on the side along with lemon. It was perfectly cooked and a plentiful portion. I had the Filet special, which was excellent and came with rapini, a favorite. The wine list is not extensive, but there are plenty of choices and reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. No complaints by anyone, although the fingerling potatoes were a little dry and I wasn't impressed by the side pasta that came with my wife's veal scallopini. Nonetheless, everything else was so outstanding, it almost seems not worth mentioning. read more

Awful service experience. Charged for items not ordered and hand wrote how much tip my guests should leave. We asked for specific items including hot water for the table and they never brought it over. They brought over the table side garlic although we never ordered it. We asked about it and then still charged us. Even worse, the server wrote down how much tip my guests from out of town were supposed to leave - not automated tip suggestions but wrote down, pen on paper! Can't believe I've never eaten here before and I am born and raised Chicago. Tuscany on Taylor has been here since I was a youngster and has always been known as staple authentic Italian and I can finally say I agree. Food was delicious and the portions are huge. One meal will have you eating off of it for at least two days. Staff is very personable and give you the family everybody know everybody feel. I was less than impressed with my experience here. I was excited to try this place out after I found out my group had made reservations here and checking out the other reviews on yelp. Service: our party was not seated until well after 15 minutes past our reservation time. It was a party of 15 so it's not like they were waiting for a regular table to get up and be finished. Our waiter did not come around at all to check on our food, we had to ask the employees who filled our water glasses, making it almost impossible to order a refill of anything. To top it off, the restaurant refused to split our checks and give us separate bills. With 15 people all in separate parties this makes it extremely difficult and the whole process of paying our bill took about an hour. Unacceptable in my opinion, especially for a tab that is close to $500. From start to finish the waitstaff including the hostess was not at all welcoming with the exception of the boys who came around with the water pitchers. Food: the bread and olive oil mixture to start off with was very good. I had the short rib ravioli for my main dish based on other yelp reviews and I honestly wasn't a fan. The meat inside tasted good, but the sauce had a taste that made me feel sick which I think is just a personal taste thing maybe. My dad just had plain rigatoni with red sauce which I tried some of and it was nothing special. The pasta I make at home out of the box honestly tastes better. Overall, I would recommend going somewhere else. If I had a large party coming into my restaurant where the food isn't cheap I would probably treat my guests with more respect. I'm sure there are way better Italian places to eat at in Little Italy that you should give your business to. read more

Fantastic! We were able to get a reservation here to celebrate Mother's Day! The environment in the front dining area is very busy and family-friendly! There is a private dining area in the back for people who want a more intimate experience. The valet, hosts, and waiters are all great! The staff could not have been more accommodating. Let's get to the food. Outstanding! I'm not an expert in Italian cuisine, but this was damn good! We started off with the Wagyu Meatballs and Calamari Fritti for appetizers while devouring the bread basket! For the main meals, we ordered some chicken Parmigiano dishes, Margherita and Peperoni pizzas, and spaghetti. We loved all of the meals! The pepperoni was a little too spicy for the kids as they used spicy soppressata. I, on the other hand, loved it! I had a couple glasses of the Rodney Strong pinot noir's, which was delicious! For dessert, we ordered a Lava Cake, Carrot Cake, and coffee for me. The desserts got devoured by everyone! My favorite dessert is carrot cake, but I also let my kids know that carrot cakes are not all created equal, and the one served here is an exception! Do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal. We started w/the carpaccio which was adorned with arugula salad with the BEST lemon vinegar dressing which enhanced the flavor of the meat. What can I say! The food was exceptional. We tried zuppa, margherita pizza, red wine infused fetuccine and the tiramisu. Each and every item was amazing. Tuscany is located at the beginning of Little Italy in Chicago and is arguably some of the best Italian I have had in this great city- all located close to where I live and work. Since getting to Chicago, I've always wanted to try this spot. Luckily an old friend from high school was in town for a conference so I made arrangements for us to have dinner here before he flew back home. Lucky for us, the food, service, and experience was fantastic. The restaurant feels very upscale and perfect for a date night. It almost felt like we had a private waiter with how attentive and patient he was with us as we were deciding what to order for our meal. Our waiter started off by providing the bread basket and creating a heavenly crushed garlic, olive oil, and parmesan dip. We then ordered a nice red for the evening before going into their Fried Calamari ($14), which are some of the best I've had in the area. The salt and pepper flare thrown into the mix was absolutely delicious. For my main, I ordered their evening special of the Shrimp Ravioli. The dish came out in beautiful colors with tender pieces of shrimp and plenty of pasta to go around. Add a bit of cheese on top and you've got yourself a fine meal. We decided to end our meal on a sugary end with their Chocolate Mouse Cake, a divine way to say goodbye. Now I can safely say that Tuscany was well worth the experience and a great option for upscale dining (but not too bougie) here in Little Italy. read more

We had the grill octopus that came with salad as the appetizer, we had Spaghettini Di Mare (seafood pasta), Penne E Capesante (sea scallop pasta), and the pasta of the day which was ribbon pasta with red sauce. The appetizer was super delicious. Which made the pasta bland. Of all the pastas, the pasta of the day was the best, then the sea scallop pasta, the least flavor was the seafood pasta. Wow, what a difference since we were here last time. A cold welcome from manager Alex and even colder, truly rude welcome from hostess. Reservation was made for party of four and we were on time. Since one couple was behind to park their car, we were told that if all four of us are not in we cannot be seated. That it will be, I quote, "waste of place"! The other couple was late a total of 4 minutes. When you have that many tables open, this was really unnecessary and unpleasant, having in mind we have been coming here for years. Tuscany on Taylor never disappoints! I've been coming here for years and they are always consistent. Everything is delicious. This is a Chicago staple not to be missed. Classic Italian cuisine all the way. They are fine preparing a different kind of pasta if you want also. I love the capellini, so rather than have the standard thicker pasta with my meal they made some angel hair with pomodoro sauce instead, no problem. We came here for Father's Day and I would say received exceptional service. Manuel was our waiter and a great sense of humor that made our night more relaxing. I can't say that I've never received so quick and on point service than I did today. They start us off with their garlic, Parmesan cheese and olive oil dip. And we ordered bruschetta to start. It came very fast and then ordered our main entree. I ordered the Pollo Montecarlo and my wife ordered an my wife ordered the fettuccine alla primavera. Her dish was alright, but the Pollo Montecarlo was very tasty. It had a Chardonnay reduction based sauce with the spinach as the base at the bottom. And then the chicken and prosciutto topped with fontinella cheese. All the ingredients complimented each other very well. One thing that always bothers me is that I never leave enough room for dessert. Perhaps it's the bread in the beginning or chips and salsa at Mexican restaurants but I never seem to be able to taste the desserts. Valet service is only $6! It was a Wednesday night for a party of three. Reservations were made and we were punctually seated upon arrival. Complimentary bread, olive oil, crushed garlic, and balsamic vinegar were also promptly served. I'm not usually a fan of garlic but this mixture was memorable. We ordered the mussels, penne with seared sea scallops, and linguine with clams in white wine sauce. The mussels were tasty but also a bit fishy. The penne and linguine with clams were the better portion of the meal. The penne came with three giant pieces of scallop. Fortunately, there were only three of us because I would not have liked to cut that and share with others. It was very fresh and crisp. The linguine was piled with baby clams and the white wine sauce was marvelous in smell and taste. Service and food delivery was set at lightning mode. We were in and out in an hour! read more

This restaurant is now open. It has excellent Covid-19 preparations. Windows open up to the street plus a large outside patio and tent. As for service, it could have been much better. I think it was our waiter. He took along time to return to our table to take our entree order after we finished our appetiser, did not come back to ask how the meal was going or if we needed anything. Asked for a cappuccino and had to ask another wait to get it for us. Other waiters stopped back often to their tables but ours did not. The food is just ok. If you're looking for authentic Italian food that will knock you off your feet, look NO further. My first time at Tuscany was nothing short of wonderful thanks to the staff. The vibe is very traditional. We came for my cousin's baby's 1st birthday but kept it low key in the restaurant. We just came to have a nice meal. The staff customer service was superior and the food was absolutely delicious!! I had the Tortellini Ai Formaggi. It was entirely too good and I cannot wait to go back! My only complaint has nothing to do with the staff or service. Just be aware that there are many older white folks that come to the restaurant. A couple was sitting two tables away from us and the woman kept staring us down due to the baby starting to get a little fussy. She wasn't screaming or crying she was just starting to whine and acted like she was going to cry. After being stared down constantly, my cousin took the baby outside and we finished our meal without them. It was just kind of sad because it was the baby's first birthday but it is what it is! Livid, doesn't begin to describe how I'm feeling after hearing how the staff at Tuscany treated my wife. She and a friend went for happy hour. Nowhere does it indicate WHERE in the restaurant you have to be seated in order to order off the happy hour menu. Turns out the server seated them under an active bee's nest (place was less than 50% full mind you) and only relocated them after the bees swarmed the table and they asked for help. The server first said they could put a fan out and it would stop the bees, but that gives the strong impression that this was a known issue and they sat people there anyway, so they asked again to be reseated. Once seated indoors, the same server told them to go to the bar and get their own drinks if they wanted happy hour. What?!?!!? At the end of their visit, the server dropped off the check and, sure enough, everything was charged at full price. Tuscany, if you're going to pull this bait and switch, just stop doing happy hour. Some people seem to love your restaurant and that's great and all. However, if you keep burning people like you did to my wife and her friend then folks will be wishing for your business to fail. read more

We then ordered Meat Lasagna, Raviolini Pear, Minestrone soup and Cesare salad. Everything was prepared exquisitely. But I have to call out the Raviolini Pear; it was the most interesting Ravioli I have ever had. It was smooth and sweat. It was just so good! We planned to grab desert on the way back to the hotel, but the food was so good that we decided to stay right where we were. We tried the Tiramisu, Cannoli, Chocolate Mousse Cake and Fruit Tart. How did we not know about this amazing place before? Contrary to some TV star owned crappy Italian restaurants in River North, this place has blown our mind. Tuscany is probably the best Italian food I had in along time. Easy to find Italien food in Chicago, but not easy to be surprised as we were here. Everything single item we had was beyond our expectations. The Luciano Pavarotti opera song played on the patio was the perfect expression for the taste bud explosion in our mouth.
