I've had the Capt. Crunch crab cakes twice now, and they are fabulous. My main complaint with crab cakes is that they are soggy by the time they get to the table--not so with these cakes. They have large chunks of lump crab in them, and are seasoned perfectly. The sauce they drizzle over them is a nice compliment to the sweetness of the Capt. Crunch breading. I have also tried the lobster roll, and did not think it as good as the crab cakes, but that may just be my taste. The food trunk also has a great selection of classic sodas. I will definitely be on the look out for the blue and white checks in the future. read more

If I could give less I would... Went to the truck show this weekend where two for the road was there. I decided to go with two for the road over the other 15 or so food trucks there based on their menu. Maybe one of the worst decisions of the weekend... Not only did it take almost 40 minutes to get a BLT (yes a BLT), it was greasy and the flavor was definitely not there (or worth that 40 minute wait). Should have gone with any other truck....... The owners are wonderful and they make the most amazing food! They come on Chesapeake evry Tuesday and Thursday! The menu changes weekly and each week is more delicious than the last! The Mexicali Corn dog is a regular item and it is yummy! The mustard relish that is served with it, is perfectly complimentary flavored! I have had the food weekly for about a month now and would highly recommend the philly cheese steak sanwich! If you are looking for something good, comforting and new give them a try! read more

I have ordered food from this truck a number of times at the Wednesday Curbside Bites in downtown San Diego. They have one of the best lobster rolls I have tasted as well as great crab cakes. Two For The Road Food Truck catered my husband's 50th birthday party this weekend and were a big hit! My guests came up to me over and over to tell me how incredibly delicious everything was. For appetizers we had shrimp cocktail (perfect), Capt Crunch Crab Cakes (huge hit!), and Caprese Sliders. The main course included a choice of Grilled Cheese stuffed with Spinach Artichoke Dip (to die for), burger sliders, and their delicious Lobster Rolls. Every item was delicious and although slammed at times (everyone always wants to eat at once) Lisa and her team continued to be gracious and helpful to my guests. I was not as impressed as a lot of others were. I had the duet, 1/2 lobster roll and Cap'n Crunch breaded crab cake. First off it took 20 minutes for that and an order of fries. I watched about 6 people that ordered after me get their food first. Pretty sure they forgot my order until I went up and asked where it was. Then the fries were cold and hard, and the lobster roll was ok at best, it was definitely nothing to write home about. The crab cake tasted nothing like Cap'n Crunch or even crab. It had way to much filler in it and hardly any crab. Like I said it was mostly breadcrumbs. Then the only think I could taste was the Siracha Lime mayo that was spread all over it. And even that only tasted like lime. If I saw this truck was this same menu in the future I definitely would pass. I definitely was not worth the money that I spent on it. read more

I went to the weekly Mission Valley Food truck meet up. I scouted this truck out in advance and ordered the lobster roll and crab cakes to go. They gave me a nice to go box - pastry-type box - and service was pretty quick. The lobster roll had a lot of meat in it, but I am not sure I really liked the mayo - could have used some seasoning. The roll was a buttery and so good and held up well. The crab cakes were my favorite. They are supposed to be coated in captain crunch but you can't really tell. It was sweet, had a good crunch and you can tell it had crab in it. Just needed a little Siracha pick me up on top. I would definitely get those again. read more

We had "Two for the Road" at our wedding rehearsal. It was so fun and easy and everybody raved about the food. We chose 4 menu items--Disney Monte Cristo (yum!), a classic burger, a gourmet grilled cheese and a classic grilled cheese. Retro sodas and moon pies were hits. This is a good food truck. We ordered crab cakes, lobster roll, cheese burger and the mojito chicken sandwich. the Lobster roll fel around average for me but from a truck it is good. The crab cakes were a bit on the fishy side and not many people at the office were a fan. the burger was raved about and the chicken was alright. this is however a better choice tan a standard food truck and in my opinion still better than the tabe truck. read more

Two for the Road catered at our backyard wedding in September and they did a great job. We asked for their help to switch things up a little and asked them to bring the food to the people in our yard, instead of having our guests go to the truck and order. It worked great! They brought the food back and set it on a table and guests picked it up fresh and hot. The crab cakes were by far the most popular - they are really really delicious! Everything else was great too, and our guests thought it was so cool. They are also ver reasonably priced, and the best thing was that we didn't have a catering company making a mess and clogging up our kitchen with more bodies. It was awesome. Not a fan of the lobster roll. I figured it would be a safe bet from this truck but there was way too much lemon and not enough butter/mayo flavor. Stick to their other menu items. read more

Went to a wine and food truck festival last night and these guys were there...out of about 8 trucks I picked to get something from them. Once I read the menu and saw the Capt. Crunch Crab Cakes I knew what I wanted to try. They were awesome! They're really good if you like sweet mixed with your seafood. Lisa, Roberto and their son were great to work with. Arrived on time and did an amazing job in serving the guests. The food here is reminiscent of what people call "roach coaches" that visit construction sites. I was disgusted. I waited an hour (!) to order and get my food. I should have trusted my gut and left. I ordered grilled cheese and parmesan fries. Turns out they ran out of parmesan, so I got gross squishy tasteless fries and some ketchup. I am actually a fry lover, so it is quite rare that I am so disgusted that I throw out half the fries. I would rather not waste my calories on their fries. The grilled cheese was not completely melted. The part I look forward to with a grilled cheese sandwich is the melty cheese, not simply soft cheese. The bread tasted like it was made on a grill with many other items that hadn't been cleaned. I seriously almost turned around to give them the food back and say that I want my money back. Anyway, I will stick with Miho Gastrotruck in the future. I have not had a bad meal at Miho. Thanks for ruining my dinner, Two for the Road. read more
