I stopped here to get a coffee in the morning on my way to work. I ordered the queen bee (vanilla, espresso) based upon the recommendation of the staff. I also had a chocolate croissant as well just to load up on sugar. The drink was excellent. A small size(2 shots) was plenty to get you up and going. The croissant was decent, but bad but not great as it was a tad bit burnt but still very edible. Good place to sit and enjoy a drink inside on one of their couches, tables, or high chairs. I had one of the best coffee drinks I've had in a long time. I splurged and got one of their "greatest hits" drinks and it did not disappoint. I ended up going with the "God Save the Queen" with whole milk. It was not overly sweet like a lot these drinks tend to be and had fantastic flavor. It was definitely on the pricey side but that's what you get in Chicago. It also has a fantastic little space for remote working or coffee meetings with free wifi. read more

It has little seeds on top that added to the deliciousness. Well, no more. I'm not sure if they changed the pastry vendor or just the product. Their ham and cheese 'croissant' is now more like the ham and swiss pastry from Starbucks... except they managed to make it worse! The new 'croissant' is at least half the size than it used to be, instead of actual ham and cheese it has something I can just describe as a spread?! it's some cheese concoction with little chunks of meat that they are passing for ham. It is terrible... It will set you back almost $7. Save your money. Go somewhere else for your pastries. The coffee is still good. read more

A surprisingly spacious coffee shop tucked away. One of my friends wanted to come here to study and I had such a hard time finding it at first! I stumbled into the hotel to ask for directions and there it was! Although I do believe there is also a door on the adjacent street leading directly into the cafe. The barista was super nice and friendly. I'm one of those people that appreciates a lighthearted conversation as I'm waiting for my drink and they were definitely good at that. I got a traditional vanilla latte which was well made. Love the seating area, and there's plenty of it. Good for both individual work and small groups as well! It was not super quiet, which I like since I can't work in completely silence. The bathrooms are on the upper level where is also a beautiful bar. Definitely worth going to happy hour there after a productive work day! My only complaint is that the outlets were not working the day I was there, but thankfully everything was fully charged. read more

My simple pleasure when traveling is coffee shop hopping in the morning. It's a good excuse to walk around the city and the Two Zero Three is one of the few coffee shops I try last time I was in Chicago. I usually order Cortado and consider myself a (self-appointed) Cortado sommelier. I can easily say that the flavor was far better than other cortados I've tried elsewhere. One of the best matcha lattes I've had. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches were just okay. I found them to be a bit heavy. The sandwiches are premade and reheated, so the order was ready very quickly with just two people working. The location was very convenient for us, as we were staying at the Virgin Hotel. I've been here for an evening work meeting and also while staying at Virgin on a weekend so seen both sides. Last night I was set on getting the Basic Batch (har har har funny name) but when I saw the Peppermint Mocha, a seasonal special drink, it was calling out to me! Flavor was on point and it totally filled me up for $6. Service was adequate but not what I'd call friendly. Overall, fun coffee options in a chill environment right in the Loop. A bland $6 Carmel latte, didn't taste like Carmel, just hot milk in a black coffee, not impressed

I'd give the actual drinks three stars. I started with a matcha latte and it was fine. The foam had large bubbles (indicating bad milk frothing) and the taste was a bit mediocre, but it was fine. I then moved on to a brewed coffee, which was pleasant but unremarkable. But the place makes up for it in coziness. They will default to cardboard cups, but will serve in nice mugs of you insist, and there is a cozy seating area with windows looking out into the street. read more

I give this place 5 stars though because the place is trendy, customer service if you have any issues with the drink is great and accommodating, the WiFi is solid, and there's extra seating and bathrooms upstairs. I loooove this place and I hope it remains hidden from the public so I can avoid crowds. It's tucked away in the virgin hotels inside the loop. Grab a usual coffee or one of their specialties/seasonal specialties. I highly recommend their lavender matcha - hot or cold! I got an americano, which was delicious, and the barista was super nice. They also serve local Dark Matter coffee, which is at the top of my list! They have a variety of seating options, from bars by the windows, a large middle table, and some plush chairs. It's a solid place to get some work done, and they have a mac if you need an extra computer. My lifelong coffee shop crawl continued last week when I visited Two Zero Three on the last Friday of November. I found it while perusing Yelp weeks ago for wine bars, and when I read that they're *also* a coffee shop that's good for working, I bookmarked it right away. It's connected to the Virgin Hotel, right on the corner of the street, with quite a bit of seating and a generous amount of outlets. Outlets galore = coffee shop points, obviously. When I entered the shop around 12:30, it was pretty full, but I was able to find a seat at a community table, which also had outlets on the ground underneath the table. This is a game-changer, especially since many coffee shops that have outlets only feature those outlets along the walls. The girls working behind the counter were choosing some badass music to play over the speakers, like an entire Paramore album, followed by an entire CHVRCHES album. This is everything I could ask for in a coffee shop aside from more outlets! I ordered a latte, and the girl with the purple hair behind the counter made it quite quickly, despite there being a line. Either the latte wasn't very strong or I was overly tired, but after about an hour I ended up going back up and ordering a black coffee after the latte because I needed some more caffeination. That second cup sent me over the edge and I was vibrating from the caffeine... so maybe there *was* a lot of caffeine in that latte, after all. Espresso usually doesn't mess around. I really enjoyed the ambience and tunes in here, and love that they sell some beer, have some snacks, and that all of their coffee is Dark Matter, because keeping it local is key. I'll most definitely be back here. This spot's a gem. read more

I like the fact that it's located inside the Virgin Hotel. However was very disappointed with my latte. So they only have ONE SIZE (12oz) and even thought we ordered our lattes with TWO, get this a DOUBLE shot of ESPRESSO, it basically taste just like Luke warm milk. So the drink is basically just milk and a barely hint of espresso taste. Very disappointed also because they DO NOT have a THERMOMETER so therefore you either get stuck with a LUKE WARM coffee drink or a SCALDED one. That's like the ordering a coffe at MCD's and super-sizing it which you end up with nothing but water down drink. I booked marked this place because my husband and I love trying new places and are fanatics of specialty coffee drinks. The pictures on Yelp are so deceiving. The place looks larger on the photos than it actually is. Plus the music they were playing was hard rock and I was not feeling at ease at all. I get the point that in the evening this place is more like a bar bc they serve wine and champagne drinks but this does not have that nice cozy coffee feel atmosphere at all. And part of a great coffee drink experience is the first sip you take and it's a nice warming feel and tasty coffee, but not here. The only thing that we were happy with, was the banana nut muffin. It was nice and fluffy. Other than that this place is X"ed out and will not be back. If we knew all this ahead of time, we would of NOT made the trip from Streeterville to this side of town. Solid place for a cup of coffee! I got a "Mint to be" - which was their version of a Peppermint Mocha. It was great! Honestly not super minty, but that's alright. I thought it was an impressive cup regardless. Also the ambiance in this place is cool. It's a relatively small location, but it gives ample space to quietly study, chat with a date, or gather with a group of friends. It wasn't too loud, but there is noticeable background music, just something to note if you want somewhere quieter. The only ~bad~ thing that happened is that I got charged twice. I used my credit card, which popped up as declined, but then when I checked my statement after paying with a different card I saw that I had in fact been double charged. Easy location to the hotel I was staying at. The staff was nice, the coffee was good, and there were spots to take a moment to enjoy.

I walk by here all the time and wanted to try it, and I finally got the opportunity to try it with a friend. There's not much remarkable about it-it's smaller on the inside than I expected it to be. There's a few tables, each of which had someone sitting at it working, and a couple comfy chairs (kind of oddly blocking aisles), and then bar seating along the window. It wasn't the most homey feel. And they had put up snoflakes for winter decorations, which I appreciate, but while I was there I saw two of them fall from the ceiling (they were not paper, so they could've possibly hurt someone). I mean, not a huge deal, but also kind of a possible big deal? They do have a nice variety of offerings, both coffee and non-coffee. I settled on a chi-der, which is chai and cider. It was about what I expected, though maybe a bit heavy on the cider side. Prices are a bit high, my 16 oz chi-der was over $6 (I mean, that's a little more than Starbucks prices, but not awful I guess). Service was friendly enough for the brief time I was at the bar ordering. Overall, I was a little underwhelmed, though maybe that's on me for building it up in my head. I might stop by for an after work drink since they're a bar too, to see if the vibe is any different, but I don't know that I feel a need to go back for coffee when there's other options in the area. read more

Located on the ground floor of the Virgin Hotel, Two Zero Three offers a solid option for coffee and pastries in the morning. I stopped in to get something to take back to our room and was warmly greeted upon my arrival. Large boards are located behind the counter with descriptions of all the types of coffee drinks, and teas they offer. Many drinks can be ordered either hot or iced and there is an area to the right where you can add extra sugar or milk to your drinks. I ordered a large hot chocolate, a large hot mocha, and two chocolate croissants. After I paid, they realized that they only had one chocolate croissant and offered to give me two muffins or a drink coupon for a future visit. Since I'm staying here from out of town, I took two blueberry muffins, and I'm glad I did. The blueberry muffin was so full of juicy whole blueberries! Wherever they get their pastries from is top notch. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because even though they knew the order was "to go" they put so much whipped cream on the hot chocolate that the lid couldn't go on without making a big mess and since it wasn't my drink, I didn't want to drink some down to make the lid go on properly. read more

We got a mocha (which is apparently not sold in the 20 oz size if you get it for here), which was just like your regular mocha, not particularly special, but still a sweet caffeine fix! About $5.30 for a 12oz, so a little on the pricier side. The baristas are kinda and helpful, and there are some outlets spread throughout the cafe. It's connected to a hotel which has snazzy seating upstairs - definitely worth checking that out and the lovely bathrooms! This "hidden" gem made for the perfect place to settle in and get some work done, while enjoying a delicious hot beverage, in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere! I used hidden in quotes because it's right in the middle of the loop and not very hidden at all, BUT once inside, it's quite, and wasn't very crowded! Attached to the Virgin Hotel, Two Zero Three doubles as coffee bar during the day, and wine bar at night! Found myself her around 9 am on a Monday morning, and to my suprise, it was fairly empty, meaning I was able to secure a seat at the their community table with ease and plug my laptop in. The barista behind the counter was super nice and welcomed me in. Being a creature of habit, I ordered an Americano before even noticing all their house specialty drinks! I'll definitely be back to try one of those as they all looked so tasty. My Americano was delicious, and I think they use Dark Matter coffee. (Or at least my mug had their logo on it) Nevertheless, it was smooth, hot, and did the trick! Two Zero Three has all the elements that make a coffee shop great! Comfortable, welcoming, cozy, good coffee, little distractions, and perfect escape from the cold! I also noticed while heading to the bathroom, the second level of the Virgin Hotel where I think you can take your coffee as well! Next time I come, definitely checking out that area as well. Love love love! Let's start off with the interior of the shop. I really like how clean and sleek the place was. It made the place felt very modern. I appreciate the different designs on the menu. I thought it was very cute. I ordered the lavender and matcha latte. I really didn't know what to expect since I never had something like that before. The lavender in the latte was definitely the dominating flavor. I didn't really taste the matcha much. It was very faint. Luckily the lavender flavor was light and not too strong where it would leave an uncomfortable taste in my mouth. Overall, I thought the latte was good. Even though the price was a little bit expensive, you do get a decent size portion cup. The staff were really friendly and I got my order very fast.
