This location of Uncle Julio's was nothing short of awful. We had called in the day before for a reservation at 6:30pm- by the time we were seated it was 8:30. We were repeatedly told by the staff (who was preoccupied on their phones 90% of the time) that "we were next." To be honest- if my parents weren't with us at the time I would have thrown a fit. The lack of professionalism and blatant disregard from the staff was a little upsetting. Why have a reservation system if you do not honor it? By the time we were seated, things didn't get much better. Service was incredibly slow, and we ended up waiting almost 20 minutes for our drinks. By the time we had ordered, got our drinks, and had finally ordered it was 9:15. When we got our food, there were several mistakes with the orders, ranging from incorrect meal as a whole, to wrong sides. I had ordered the Jalisco, which came with shrimp, steak, and chicken. I had to wait a bit for the tortillas (which we were first given flour over corn)- by then we all know that this whole meal was a wash. While part of my frustration was in part of the time waiting, the portion and quality of food for the price was awful. This is my first time eating at this particular location. But no matter what location I go to, the service is always phenomenal! I bought a gift card during Christmas so had a $10 off coupon to use before it expired. For lunch I ordered the steak fajitas and my lunch partner ordered the chicken fajitas. They were both fantastic and honestly, have never, EVER, had a food complaint at any Uncle Julio's location. They're very consistent and put out delicious food. Their loyalty program is an awesome way to keep customers and get them coming back. So I guess my only gripe is that I wish the staff was trained better to recognize/acknowledge loyalty members and make it easier for us to use our earned incentives. Example: waiter never asked if I was a loyalty member, I had to provide my phone number and name at the END of the meal while waiter had to go ask manager what all of my incentives included in my lunch, because apparently my free dessert has different values at different venues. This particular venue accepts it for everything while the Grapevine location will only accept it for smaller items. The consistency is lacking. Food and service have gone down a lot in the last few years. A bowl of warm queso is $12.50! We had to ask them to warm it up twice so the cheese wouldn't be so thick. Water glasses left out on tables is disgusting to me. People walk around them, cough, sneeze - just blah! Give out the glasses when you seat the customers, please. First time coming to this location, typically we'd go to the uncle Julio's in west Fort Worth but I live in Lewisville now so we met my parents half way in alliance. Side note: the traffic and construction was pretty brutal. Hadn't been to that area in years and had no idea. I made a reservation on Wednesday for a Saturday dinner at 6:30. We arrived on time, told the hostess we were there and she said they're cleaning our table. 10 mins later I received the text that our table was ready. On our way to the table I asked if the air was out and she said yes but only at the very front of the restaurant. Our table was about 15 feet from the front door. My parents arrive and my mom looks at me with big eyes and says wow it's hot in here! The restaurant was not at full capacity. My mom asks the hostess if we could possibly move tables to get in an area where the a/c was working. The hostess stated we'd have to wait 25 min for another table. I looked around at my table and was able to find at least 10 empty tables near us at the front of the restaurant empty and when walking to the bathroom saw another 10-15 empty tables in the back where it was cooler. I completely understand how restaurants work-- people have sections and you have to keep things even between waiters however exceptions should've been made as it was really very hot in there. Some people, like myself have invisible illnesses that cause heat intolerance. By the time my food came I was nauseated from being hot-- it was 82° up front on the a/c unit. Initially we thought about just going somewhere else but traffic was so bad, we didn't know any other restaurants near by and had no idea if we'd have to wait for a table. We were there for my husbands birthday and I did not want to inconvenience my family. I am now home, nauseated with a migraine from eating at this restaurant with no actual air conditioning. I show from reading comments that the air was out over a week ago. Why couldn't anyone say anything when I called or the website had a little note? Accommodations should've been made to make sure people were only sat in the back (where the air was at least tolerable at 77°). Instead I will spend the next few days recovering from a flare up from eating at your restaurant. The food was okay, the waiter seemed new but was nice however you could tell all of the employees were hot, tired and frustrated. We come here at least once a month, typically a weekend, and never have had any crazy wait times. The restaurant is beautiful and large and offers tons of seating. Food is awesome. Never had a issue any time we have dined here. Queso is delicious. Love their chips and salsa. The salsa is awesome and has a smokey flavor to it. I love it. Drinks are always great. Wow! I was a little meaty ordering delivery from Uncle Julio's! I'm so glad we did! We ordered the famiky dinner of enchiladas, came with rice, beans, chips quac, rice, salsa and even churros! Uncle Julio's is always busy, but I do feel like our server may have been a little distracted on this visit. Despite the mediocre service, the food was delicious. It ALWAYS is. We ordered beef tacos, fish tacos and beef enchiladas. The slaw on the fish tacos is pretty amazing and the agave queso on the enchiladas had a nice spicy kick! Can we talk about the dessert though?! We had the chocolate lover's piñata and OH MY GOSH it was amazing! It's a little pricey, but if you have their app they often send out coupons. I happened to have a coupon for a free chocolate piñata with the purchase of 3 entrees. The presentation is amazing but what's Inside is even better! Food was not brought out until 5:15pm - 30 minutes AFTER our pick up time. It doesn't take over an hour after placing dinner order to serve customers in the restaurant, so why would it be ok with take-out customers? If it's that busy, then website should reflect it. Also, food was cold when we got it, so what exactly took so long to cook?? Nothing was even hot!! Food was mediocre at best. Got the fire street tacos, asked for no jalapeños peppers, but of course they included it anyway website says it comes with Mexican rice (doesn't say anything about beans), but our order came with beans too? So our extra side of beans that we ordered was unnecessary in the end. Corn tortillas broke upon heating and handling, could not eat tacos with hand. Chips were stale. Our entire order was cold, queso was cold to the point it was already congealed, and the steak was missing on both orders of the Guadalajara fajitas. Later in the evening on Friday night, sat at the bar. Not too busy, but steady patronage. Ordered a margarita (rocks) to start, and all was good. Got some chips and salsa, and that was fine. Ordered a beer soon thereafter, and was handed an unopened can. Odd. Asked for a glass, and one was dropped off. My fajita order came out in good time, and while the meat was good, the onions and peppers were unimpressive: an afterthought. I'm used to a steaming hot skillet with the vegetables still cooking when delivered: this was definitely not that. Also, I had to wait five minutes for tortillas because 'they were out.' Next up, ordered a 'swirl' margarita.... it came in a warm mug, and was 75% sangria. Melted to a pure liquid in a couple minutes. Another bartender came by towards the end and ended up improving things, by providing cold mugs with already poured beers with a lime. Overall, a 2/5 rating is fair. read more

I redress the beef tacos and they were so salty, I had to check my blood pressure when I got home, sheesh! My boyfriend loved the shrimp tacos. I'm struggling with this review because I have mixed feelings. I'm trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars. Here's why: For Mexican food - super duper expensive and not a lot of quantity. I thought the quality was there, but the quantity left me hungry. Now with that said, they seem to have extremely good happy hour deals. We'll definitely be back to check those out. We sat at the bar like we normally do and we were greeted very quickly. The bar tender is the main reason why I've decided to give 4 stars. Great personality, walked us through the menu as this was our first time here. Gave us recommendations on what to order, and overall was just pleasant to work with. OH - this solidifies 4 stars - We needed silverware and when he picked up forks for us, he looked at them and immediately put them down as they were dirty. We watched him go to the back and pick up new forks that were clean. We VERY much appreciated that. He actually did this twice as I asked for a small plate for my fajitas and the same situation occurred. So excellent effort by him. Drinks - I ordered the El Jefe Margarita which was AWESOME (it's about 2 drinks too). Tequila marinated in Jalapeno & Habanero peppers. The drink gives you a spicy sensation without killing you. Your glass is garnished with a jalapeno. Excellent. My wife had the sangria which was perfect. Sweet and tasty. Food - As I said before I ordered the steak & chicken fajitas. The flavor was very good (steak was a little thick for my preference) and the chicken was good. The dish comes with all of the fixings (peppers, onions, rice, beans, cheese, guac etc). Two complaints about this dish. Peppers and Onions. Should be reprinted as 'entire onion, two slices of green pepper'. I really like peppers so I was slightly disappointed by this. Also as I mentioned up top. Not enough meat. Maybe the quantity by weight was there, but because things were sliced so thick (3 pieces of each chicken and steak...seriously) that it didn't feel like enough food for 18 dollars. My wife ordered a cup of tortilla soup. Very tasty, pretty spicy and overall very good. The only problem - quantity to price ratio. I don't know if we were charged wrong or what, but almost 7 dollars for a cup is kinda outrageous if you ask me. Before we left we asked the bar tender about their happy hour deals and honestly, that sounds like when you really need to go. MUCH cheaper drinks and food. We will go back to try those out. The best thing was the chocolate piñata. Parties over 6 have automatic 18% gratuity added to the check. Ordering a margarita is even a struggle. I had a plain frozen margarita, it was pretty watered down. Two others had the same margarita on the rocks, they were delivered in two different style cups. Not sure what the difference was. Sangria margarita, the sangria was super strong. One person ordered fresh strawberry frozen margarita, it was served over ice and we were explained that's the presentation for a frozen margarita. Before ordering we asked if the barbacoa was actual cheek meet or if it was brisket, we were told it was cheek meat... it was not, it was brisket. We had to ask for water to be delivered to the table three times after ordering water with our original drink order. All of the other tables had bottles of water placed on them shortly after being sat. The food quality was okay but not on par for the prices being charged. The waitress stood over us while we checked our tickets for accuracy and stood at the table waiting while we each signed our receipts. I've ate at this restaurant three times in the last few months, and each visit has progressively gotten worse. It's pretty obvious that they're under staffed. The lights on the patio need to be replaced. I'm pretty sure our server had no idea that we were sat there due to the poor lighting and blown bulbs. We waited about 5 minutes before the server even showed up. The bar drink came out 5+ minutes after all the non-alcoholic drinks were already served. Two large taco platers were served with no tortillas because "they were making them." When the tortillas eventually came out there were only 6 tortillas for 4 people, and the taco meat was cold due to the wait. I asked multiple times for sour cream, and never received it.
