This was the first time that I was at Uncle Leo's Pizza. I found it to be a very quaint little place just a few tables for EAt in mostly carry out. I think they have a real niche in the market. I love their pizza and try to get there any chance I can. All the staff was very friendly,very service oriented and wanted to make sure everything was perfect.i'm not sure how they make their pizzas the same every time you have them but I love the consistency that I know whether I get a pizza there this evening or if I get one there in six months it will taste just the same. Best pizza in Saint Louis: I have been to Uncle Leo's four times now, and have had great experiences. The people that answer the phone were polite and informative. They told me up front about their specials. I asked them about their ingredients and was told that most of all the ingredients come from the hill, but the pizza dough is made from scratch every day from a family recipe. Also the pizza sauce is homemade. I have had Pizza, Italian sub, Hamburger and fries and an appetizer called Spinocci (WOW). I have had several pizzas, even picked up seven for a party. The pizzas were hot and loaded with fresh ingredients. The crust is thin and more like a cracker than dough. The Italian sub was unbelievable and loaded with meat. Now for the Hamburgers, my wife had the regular cheeseburger and fries and I had the double cheeseburger. You had better be hungry because the double was about a pound of meat, and cooked just like I ordered it. The last pizzas I ordered were half baked. Try the Donna's pizza! Excellent with chicken, spinach, sauce, and bacon!! The chicken cooked very well and blended in very well with the cheese. OK...you win!!! Ah-mazing!! I'm a pizza snob. Sometimes I want perfectly greasy foldable slices. Sometimes thick and chewy. Mostly though...thin. And like thin thin but still with some stability so it can hold all my toppings and I want crispy - real crispy not cardboard crispy. And on my thin sometimes I want provel and sometimes mozzarella. I think I just died and went to Heaven. No one has ever gotten me quite like you Uncle Leo. I'm eternally grateful. I can have my thin exactly how I've dreamed - with my choice of toppings AND cheese. First time ordering and I was beyond ecstatic when I called expecting to have to drag two toddlers out in the heat for pick up only to discover they deliver!! Toasted ravioli were standard but the sauce made them feel special somehow. I haven't even tried the Joey's cinna-pizza yet but I expect it to make me just as happy as the rest of my gluttonous meal. Service was awesome as well, both the young lady that took my order and the gentleman who delivered - and I expect all service to be awesome when I'm spending my money so to mention it means it stood out! Update: soooo the cinna-pizza was not good. Like. At all. Maybe because they forgot my icing which was beyond disappointing but also I was expecting that buttery, crumbly, brown sugary topping on their amazing crust that I could dip into some gooey icing. Awesome pie it's a thin crispy crust with light airy texture, awesome fresh toppings and good cheese. One of the better pies I have had here in SOCO. The best app you can try is the spinacolli, these babies are simply amazing with a sweet sauce it's a must try. Along the same price as IMO's and tastes better in my opinion. read more

It's a beautiful day for PIZZA! Today I stopped by Leo's Pizza. I ordered the cheese with mozzarella instead of provel because I'm one of the weird people from St. Louis that doesn't prefer provel. The box is simple and plain besides the round logo on the front. Not too bad! Opened this bad boy up and it looked really good. The cheese was cooked beautifully and had the nice brown burn bubbles. The crust also looked unique to this style of St. Louis thin crust. Didn't look like a paper thin flat cracker. Once I bit into it I realized it was cooked different for sure! It tasted much better and the texture was super crispy instead of soggy/foldable like other STL style pies. It also had some dough bubbles. Very good! The sauce was flavorful, but nothing too special. The cheese was great! Melty and more well done than undercooked which I prefer. Overall this was a pretty decent pie for being St. Louis style! read more

Delivery is my only experience and now I have had it two times now and boy oh boy the food is "off the chain" good!!!! The hamburgers are very good quality meat...you can tell because you get such thick patties. The burger is large so be very hungry or have someone or two to share the burger with!!! Bottom Line: Independent, Pizza - (Good Ingredients, Prep Needs More Care), Customer Service Needs Improvement Overview: The previous tenant, Lin-Ferry Pizzeria, a decent pizza place with a very friendly staff, is now occupied by Uncle Leo's. The interior may have one table for dining inside, but primarily, this is a carry-out joint. The Uncle Leo's owners have made some nice cosmetic improvements to the customer entrance, as well as to the exterior. Although these enhancements are nice, I must admit there are some other areas that can use some work, specifically, the food preparation and their customer service. Food: I ordered a large sausage and onion pizza, well done. I also ordered a large house salad requesting romaine lettuce only and leaving the cheese off, as I am not a fan of iceberg lettuce. Once I got home, I was really looking forward to trying to Faloni's sauce. As I understood, this location is an offshoot of Faloni's on Manchester near Dogtown, which has been in business for some time. Well, I must admit, I did enjoy all the ingredients on this pizza. Everything worked well together. The problem I had with the pizza is that the sausage pieces on the pizza were almost patty size. This made the sausage a bit sparse on the pizza, as well as making each bite of sausage a mouthful of more sausage than pizza. The house salad, unfortunately, was disappointing as well. The flavor was OK, but the leafs of romaine were miniature. It was like I got the bottom of bag of the leaves of romaine. Personally, I am not a fan of lettuce leaf "backbone". I felt like I was eating a full salad worth of backbone. I realize this is a personal preference, but I do think you would not make a salad that had nothing but small leafs. Service: As soon as I entered from outside, I was greeted by Donna. I remember her name because the lady who was in line ahead of me introduced herself to her. Well, when I approached the counter, the phone rang. I watched Donna answer the phone and then proceed to take the caller's order, including answering questions about the menu. I thought given that I was standing in line and at their counter ready to order, I should have been given priority. On the same note, when I asked about the salad and the type of lettuce used, she acted like it was a problem. If I recall correctly, it was one of the food handlers in back that chimed in and said they could use the "caeser" for my salad to accommodate my request. I assumed that meant they use romaine only for Caeser salad. As a restaurant business owner, I think one would want to try to do what they can to please the customer and not react like the request is going to be a problem. One other issue that came up for me was that it was not until I had picked up my completed order that Donna brought to my attention coupons were available. For the same price of a two-topping pizza and salad, I could have ordered a large deluxe pizza and a chef salad; perhaps not the exact same price, but within a dollar or two. I would have appreciated the heads up, as a customer. Summary: I certainly miss Lin-Ferry Pizzeria. Both the staff and the food were what kept me coming back. I am not sure what to think about Uncle Leo's. When I posted on Facebook about the new business and my level of satisfaction, a fellow foodie chimed in that they had been there, as well. Their pizza box apparently was very greasy. I do not know all the details, but it does not sound like my friends enjoyed the experience they had at Uncle Leo's, either. In the end, I would be willing to give them another chance, but I think a few things could use some shaping up. read more

I don't like St. Louis style pizza - but this is what Imo's should be when it grows up. The crust is key - crispy and light with a good taste - an excellent vehicle for the toppings - unlike IMO's crust which tastes like wet cardboard. But the toppings, while quality, lack an overall taste. I feel like they are all excellent ingredients and well cooked/presented, but kind of bland. They need to kick up the sauce a bit at minimum or maybe have a bit spicier meat selection (we had pepperoni and sausage on ours's). Maybe have a more crumbly/less typical dill/caraway sausage). I appreciated the onion size and cut. And, having a mozzarella option. Keep those please. Just some thoughts. If you like St. Louis style - this is one of the better examples. Definitely recommend and when friends want to order Imo's - I will insist on Uncle Leo's instead. read more
