Uncle Vito's is right by Union Square, so it's the perfect place to stop in between sightseeing in the city. I was able to get a table as soon as I walked in, and the service was quick, which was perfect as we were running late for a Giants game! The pizza was delicious, and we were able to split a large pizza between two people and still have a couple leftover slices. The Michelin worthy chefs behind the counter greeted us with Italian gusto and warmth. A tiny Godzilla toy sat atop the oven devouring Domino's former novelty mascot, The Noid, and it was upon seeing this playful homicide when I knew, I was home. I tested the efficacy of this establishment same as I did any other pizzeria, with a classic pepperoni and garlic. Upon tasting this pizza...nay, this work of art, I can now finally say I have lived. The crust crumbled between my teeth with delectable crunch and the wonderfully greasy peps danced the Tarantella throughout my bloodstream. If I had a Time Machine, my first stop on my dimensional journey would be to go back to 8:29PM on Wednesday, May 22nd to Uncle Vito's and try this pizza again for the first time. My mouth shant not forget what entered it on this day. And the cherry on top of this culinary vacation wasn't the carrot cake, not the chocolate, nay...not even the cheesecake, but instead Archie, our gleeful waiter. I stopped by this pizza place while in town at a hotel 2 blocks away and was pleasantly surprised , I decided on walking to the restaurant and order when there and when I got there I was greeted immediately and placed my order and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes which it was so that was good . I ended up getting the Mountain pizza , and Res Eye pizza which were both good nice crispy crust and good amount of toppings. I've been coming here for decades and I must say the current staff are completely untrained amateurs. I arrived when they open at 5 to order a pizza and was told I had to wait with my glass of wine in the back by the restrooms and could not sit at a table. The restaurant was completely empty! I do not follow stupid orders and sat at a window table untill my pizza was ready. Not only that the pizza was so thin and soggy it could not be picked up with out everything sliding off! Plus I caught an overcharge for $9.95 for a second glass of wine I did not have... of coarse no "sorry for that" was offered. Who's now running this place? We were "greeted" by a man who claimed to be Uncle Vito himself -- and let me tell you, if he's the owner, this place needs a serious wake-up call. He was rude, obnoxious, and completely unprofessional. My adult son was quietly sitting in one of the very limited chairs available to wait when Uncle Vito tripped over him. Instead of offering a simple apology, he scolded my son and told him he wasn't "sitting correctly." It was appalling. As for the food -- from our quick and unfortunate glance, it looked undercooked, boring, and completely unappetizing. The atmosphere was uncomfortable, uninviting, and just unpleasant. Within minutes, I turned to my son and said, "Let's go." That should say it all. San Francisco is a world-class food city. You can find fantastic, welcoming restaurants on nearly every block. Customer service was great and it's conveniently located on the corner of bush (very easy to find). I ordered delivery to my hotel nearby on Saturday night. I had had their pizza before a couple years back on a visit to the city and I remembered it being good. It still is. I also included some garlic bread with my order. I was a bit disappointed. It's a decent size serving, but it needed to be dredged more generously with garlic butter spread. The minimum $ for free delivery is $10 and the food arrived (hot and fresh) in less than 1 hour after our order was placed via phone on a Saturday night! Although it was not the best pasta I have had, their portion is generous and the taste is decent for the price! I highly recommend Uncle Vito's Pizza to anyone in the area who is up for some fresh Italian-style pizza or pasta! We had a full carafe of their house red- better than I expected for the price and being a house wine. The 3 of us split a Greek salad. Good, but missing cucumber (and added garbanzo and kidney beans. I'm not sure why.) The large meat calzone (pictured with 2 pieces missing) was HUGE and dripping with stretchy cheese. Perfectly browned crust. We took 1/2 home. My husband ordered a personal pizza (pepperoni, mushroom and anchovies.) He has a hard time finding pizza places that have anchovy available as an option. He said it was everything he wanted. This place is amazing! I live in LA and tried this place year ago... could not stop thinking about it. First, the vibes and ambience is so cute. I love little mom and pop joints. Secondly, the service has been consistently great each time. Waitresses are super sweet, cooks are really nice and funny. Food comes out pretty quickly. My favorite is the Pasta Siena. I can't wait until I'm back in the city to Buy a large. The crust was thin and crunchy around the crust and soft and delicious through out the rest of the pizza. I'd recommend this pizzeria to anyone looking for a great pie. If you get a chance to meet Dave, he's a great guy to talk to, he has some stories, he's been located in the same spot for over 20 years, and made it through the pandemic. Looks and feels and tastes like the local pizza joint in your hometown. No ultrathin pizza made with type 00 flour at high temperatures and no trendy Detroit-style pizza made with specialized pans. Just classic pies with classic toppings. Also, not outrageously priced by San Francisco standards. The Mountain Pizza: I'm glad they offered this combo because I never waste a topping pick on vegetables when I pay by topping. However, this large pie is priced slightly more than a 2 topping (and less than a 3 topping) but you get 6 toppings! Of course I loved all the meat from tangy pepperoni to salty salami to herbal sausage grinds. For the veggies, the onions added a nice zing and the green peppers kinda felt like a classic veggie pairing to the meat. Didn't really notice the mushrooms much though since there weren't many and they kind of had the least personality Also, an ample amount of gooey mozzarella cheese. The crust was doughy and a little limp, which seems the norm from pizza joints in town unfortunately. Reheated the next day in a pan on the stovetop and I think it's even better the second time around! Only real gripe would be the rather sparse tomato sauce, since I'm a saucy guy and always want more. Meat Lasagne: Ok, now this is the amount of sauce I'm talking about! It was literally swimming in a sea of tomato sauce and extra melted cheese. Much better those those places that reheat a dry slice of lasagna without anything else. And the lasagna in the center was great with al dente noodles, generous amounts of big sausage grounds and lots of ricotta cheese. Garlic Bread: Came with the lasagna as a great pairing. Fluffy bread, lots of butter and fresh minced garlic. How more classic can you get? read more

Best Pizza in the City!! I don't even like Onions or Bell peppers but they Taste so great with Vito's Pesto Sauce. My go to is Pepperoni Sausage With Pesto and Garlic Crispy might as well go XL a way better bang for your Buck. And you can freeze it and when you Reheat it it's Just like new. read more
