We came to Underdog on a Saturday morning for coffee and brunch. The place was pretty busy and seating is definitely limited, but my friend and I got lucky and snagged a table right away. Even with the crowd, service was fast and our food and drinks came out quickly. I got the egg and cheese croissant, which was delicious. The sauce they serve with it pairs with it so well. It is a really nice spot, but it gets packed quickly, so just keep that in mind if you're planning to go on a weekend. I definitely will be back to try some of their other pastries and drinks!

Having been sick for over a couple weeks now I really was in the mood for something cold and refreshing and I love me some Matcha and I love me some Underdog! I opted to try their Strawberry Matcha and for my first sip I did not stir it and that was too incredibly sweet and obviously meant to be stirred in lol; you can see the pics with all the strawberry on the bottom. Once I stirred it, it was a perfect mix of Matcha with a hint of strawberry and so refreshing and delicious!

I really enjoyed my visit here. The café has a cozy atmosphere, and true to its name, they even provide free treats for dogs outside, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. The staff were also very friendly. I ordered the Mango Acai Bowl, and the portion was much bigger than I expected. It was easily enough for two people to share. The interior is warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax. Parking is a little limited, but spaces seem to open up fairly quickly. I would definitely come back!

Modern clean coffee bar designed to appeal to the younger crowds. Nice interior spaces, with the one real limitation -- parking lot is too small for their space to keep up with any activity. They have some outside spaces that work for seating only in select time of days due to the direct sun. They have soft music going and do a good job not entirely overloading their space. The drinks are espresso bar sized (smaller) even on their larges, so be ready for that style over the American sized variants or mass market options. Flavors aren't bad and fairly quick on the bar depending on the time of day. If anything they need a few more rotating flavor or specials to catch some interest but the kitchen options help offset that. Where you can at least get your grub with a sit down.

Really enjoyed our breakfast here! I had the pineapple lemonade and it was delicious and refreshing. Along with my yummy breakfast burrito! Both of my friends loved their breakfast sandwiches and lattes as well!

Such a lovely spot. Came in on my way out of town and ordered a sausage croissant, sans egg and cheese. At 11:40am, 06.24.2026, a Wednesday there's a decent number of patrons lounging inside and out, it's a gorgeous day. The staff is exceptionally nice and accommodating. I specifically visited to try the in-house made sausage which reminded me of Jimmy Dean without the kick. I wasn't disappointed but I need some heat in my sausage. I would return to try some of their other bakery and sandwich options.

I was impressed by their matcha latte! Usually matcha is an afterthought at a coffee shop, but this one was great. This place can get very busy on weekends, we ended up finding the last available table for a while, so make sure to come earlier if you want to find a seat guaranteed.

This place has been hit or miss in the past. I've tried their matcha and peanut butter latte before and I was not the biggest fan, but the sea salt foam latte was amazing and redeemed this spot for me!! I love the seating here and the big windows, the spots can be limited during their rush hours but it's soo worth it to give it a try.

Ample parking. Pastries and coffee. Crowded at 3pm on a Wednesday. Almost entirely people sipping one cup and sitting for three hours with their laptops. Makes it hard to grab a cup, sit, and talk to another human. The music was very loud, which also made it very difficult to hear the person across the table. They kept turning it up and down. Kind of awful. And dress up the hot chocolate as much as they want, it's not a five dollar cup of cocoa. Overall, if you just wanna sit and fill out job applications, and only have to order one cup of coffee, this is your place. You can open a laptop and sit for hours and no one will bother you. As far as actually coming in here to enjoy something to drink and eat, You might as well go to Starbucks.

Fun local coffee shop with lots of tasty latte options. I went early Saturday morning and there were only a couple of customers there. We got helped right away. There is a good bit of seating but none of it looked too comfy, there's a hard bench that runs against the windows, that's where we had to sit. I got the peanut cream latte and my husband got the sea salt coffee. Both were pretty good and the latte art was perfect. I will be going back!

The drinks are amazing!! There are tons of bananas by the espresso machine for all of the banana drinks which I love. The real banana makes the drinks even better. My only qualms are the parking and that my sandwich wasn't warmed properly (some parts were still cold), it was still good though!

This place is so cute, the vibe is so peaceful and calming. They have slight classical background music playing. It's a great place to come and work. Their menu is super broad with flavors that you don't get at many coffee shops. My favorite part is they have a trust your barista coffee, which allows your barista to become creative and create a drink just for you. I will definitely be back.

After lunch nearby, three of us were craving something sweet and could use a pick-me-up latte in the afternoon. There were a lot of different drinks to choose from, but I was craving a flavored latte at the time, so I asked the barista which signature latte (list of 12 options) was the least sweet. Per her recommendation, I got the HAZELNUT MOCHA LATTE (5.95 for the smaller size) which came with a beautiful feather latte art. Aesthetically, the latte was beautiful and perfect. The drink itself was a bit too sweet for me, and I found that the coffee flavor wasn't too noteworthy, but at least it was there. Overall, not bad, but not great. In the future, I'll try something from their non-coffee list or maybe a classic black coffee. The baked goods and food items looked pretty good as well.

First of all, the bad reviews for someone not reading the prices and someone else sitting in the cafe for hours (!!!) without even showing any inclination of ordering a drink should be taken down since they don't reflect the business and also those are totally on the reviewers I don't live in Annandale anymore but after seeing Underdog on Instagram, I decided to drive out to try them and I'm so glad I did. The coconut coffee was amazing, although I'll probably ask for an extra shot next time so the coffee flavor isn't overwhelmed by the cream s much. Their avocado toast is on a nice big piece of a lovely sourdough and it is LOADED, even when you get the plain. Compared to other cafes I've been to, the value of the toast is much better and delicious. It was covered in mashed avocado and stacked high with arugula, drizzled in a balsamic and sprinkled with red pepper. Very tasty but I probably should have listened to the barista who asked me if I was sure I didn't need utensils. The environment is beautiful, the seating was comfortable, and despite being busy the staff was very efficient and quick with getting orders out. I would like to see them put in some outdoor seating, especially as the weather gets warm, they do seem to have very limited space including in parking, but it looks like they have a stone patio that's just big enough to put a couple of bistro tables out so I hope they do that. 1/12/26: i got a large cold brew with vanilla cream. you know when you get your coffee, and it's not the right color. this wasnt the right color! it looked and tasted weak. further evidence: i yawned 2 hours later which doesnt happen when the cold brew is right (strong!!!). today i have a pretty late schedule so i really needed the cold brew to hit right. i probably wont be back. read more

I had the Cooper's favorite and the Spicy Cayenne latte and both were great! Cooper's favorite is like sandwich filled with egg, cheese, arugula and others. It's very soft and delicious. They Cayenne latte was delicious with a kick of the cayenne pepper. The service was quick and the staff are really prompt and friendly. The place was filled with people when we arrived but that's what we liked about it as it's a good place to have conversations. There was ample parking space available. Would love to visit again! read more

I was craving a cinnamon roll and after a quick yelp search underdog coffee popped up. I also ordered a coconut coffee which is one of their signature coffees. The shops was clean and spacious. Service was quick and staff was friendly. If you're in the Annandale area highly recommend stopping by. Also there is plenty of parking available. read more

There is adorable puppy inspired merch and monstrously healthy açaí bowls and one of the best breakfast sandwiches on earth in Underdog Coffee. Oh, yes, and the coffee drinks rock especially the butterscotch latte, which may occupy a permanent space in your foodie brain. read more

Pros - cute atmosphere - pastries are decent - good non coffee drink options - fruit smoothies have real fruit not just flavoring - clean and cutely put together Cons - ton of ice in drinks - coffee drinks don't have strong coffee taste. Very weak espresso or maybe they don't have enough shots in the drinks? - only homemade syrup is fruit flavors so only decent coffee drink you can get is blueberry latte with espresso shot (but barely tastes like coffee) Overall I was excited to try this place but it's just ok. Not somewhere where I'd return again and again. It's not a regular place but I'm sure they will do ok because it's aesthetically pleasing. For someone looking for solid coffee drinks this isn't your place. There's a large menu that is largely non coffee drinks and the coffee drinks are weak. read more

I'm so happy a new coffee and snack place opened up! The matcha and earl grey pound cakes are absolutely delicious -- the rich green tea flavor is amazing, and the earl grey with a hint of lavender is perfectly balanced. I'll definitely be coming back for more. The double chocolate cookie was also just right for me -- super rich with dark chocolate. Next time, I'm planning to try their breakfast menu along with some other drinks and bakery items! read more

Their banana latte is my favorite coffee I've ever bought. I forgot to ask for oat milk instead of whole milk and they were so kind to remake me a whole new one with a kind smile and reassuring conversation that it was okay and they wanted to make it right. The Bella Sandwich was super yummy! very fresh avocados, fluffy egg, I feel like there was pesto on it but maybe that was the mayo and avocado mixed lol. Spinach and tomato also cut up nicely, the bun is fluffy. I didn't feel over filled but I was very satisfied. I also got the butterscotch latte hot with almond milk. Not too sweet and had a perfect amount of butterscotch flavor and coffee strength , I was so happy with my order! The inside is very clean and a linear space, with lots is seating for couples and some tables large for a group or two. I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped in the door. The decor is bright and tables are welcoming. There were lots of folks on their laptops and phones while they enjoyed the offerings. Signage for their menus was easy to read and staff is friendly and efficient. Their pastry case was filled with fresh and interesting options, too. And the coffee! The first time I visit a new coffee shop I order a cup of their regular drip coffee. It was surprisingly delicious and I can't wait to return to sample their other drinks and sandwiches! I must say this café is a hidden gem. read more

wtf... did I just order. I just paid 6.50 for a "Peanut Butter Cream Latte" and these guys charged me 75 cents for ice - I don't know any reputable coffee shop that charges for fuckin ice. Then when I got my drink, There was no cream it was just some pieces of peanut on top of the espresso. Then I made the mistake of tasting it when I should have returned it. It tasted like the blandest organic peanut butter from whole foods (who all know it tastes like dry booty). Whoever is the head barista needs to go back and research what a true peanut butter cream latte tastes. It's a recent trend, and i've had a plethora of renditions. This was the absolute trashiest one. It tasted like I took unsalted planters peanuts and shoved it in my mouth and downed it with whole milk. I really hope they go back to the drawing board and improve or they will remain an underdog forever. Outside of the really bad speciality drinks, the inside is cute. But... who cares. I'd rather goto a gas station hole in the wall with good coffee than a nice place with over priced meh coffee. read more

Nice cozy coffee shop in Annandale. The staff in here was super friendly and offered suggestions for us, who were first time goers. We got a vanilla cold brew and a banana oatmeal latte. Super good. I am looking forward to spending more time here to do work or read over coffee. The shop is very spacious and has a calm ambience. read more

Really nice service, they checked our order for accuracy a few times to make sure it was right. I appreciated that and they were pleasant in any modifications we asked. I ordered the Teddy's No1 sandwich on a croissant and the breezy açaí bowl. Refreshing ingredients, colorful fruits that were fresh. These have been my favorite items! I had a vanilla latte and appreciated that I could get it in a ceramic mug. The drink was very sweet, so I'll ask for less syrup next time. Service was very fast. Lots of seating inside and out. The music inside was a little too loud/distracting. Very clean inside. read more

This was my first time eating at this place and it was a joy! I ordered the Teddy's No. 1 breakfast sandwich (egg, cheese, homemade sausage, tomato, arugula, honey wasabi, bread), drip coffee, and a red velvet cookie. Everything was yummy. The cookie had great flavor and was not too sweet. The breakfast sandwich was great. The combination of ingredients play well together in Teddy's No. 1 and the sausage patty is very delicious. I definitely recommend this place and look forward to my next. Is it and trying different things on the menu. read more

I hope they improve as they gain experience but our visit was disappointing. They failed twice at making a breakfast sandwich. I heard about this place through instagram and my friends. Was hesitant to try it since I read some reviews but decided to go for my own opinion. Overall impression is that the space is very cozy and cute and I like the theme with all the dachshund images. I asked the barista what was their most popular at the moment and she said the banalatte. A little on the pricy side, but they use good quality ingredients and real banana for it. The drink itself was decent, espresso was very good but I wish there was more banana flavor and maybe less cinnamon garnish. Overall seems like a nice place and would come back to try their breakfast items, maybe a different drink though. read more
