We got the teriyaki, beef broccoli, egg rolls, chow mien. Everything was pretty good with the exception is the chow mien. My family seemed to like it but I just didn't like the herbs these used. Stopped in here for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised with good service and decent portions. The atmosphere is nicer than average for a strip-mall teriyaki but the furniture shows quite a bit of wear and tear. Their signature teriyaki dish comes with very good egg drop soup and is nicely presented. My wife ordered the Ramen and found it to be pretty spicy for her taste. That caught us by surprise so next time she will order something else. We would go here again without hesitation. read more

Update: The bf and I found ourselves in the area after Pokemon hunting and decided to return to this teriyaki place since having a decent time before. We decided to get the same thing we ordered the last time so I went to the front desk to order. Paid, tipped, and was going to head back to our table when she asked me if I was going to get a drink. Apparently we have to get our own drinks. Last time we were here, they delivered it to our table with a side of soup. Oh well, not a deal breaker. Waited about 15 minutes for our food and the girl walked it to our table. The salad was abnormally wet and the chicken was extremely dry. No amount of teriyaki sauce could hide the fact that the chicken was cooked a while ago and was then grilled to be heated up and then served. I ran out of water and not once were we checked on. I then got to thinking, do we refill our water too? I then witnessed a customer go up to the fountain machine and refill their cup with water. Note that the customers lips were on the cup and could be the same side that touches the machine. Sanitary is a big part of a restaurant. Although this establishment is close to our place, we won't be returning. --------------------------------------------------- My boyfriend and I were looking at apartments and this place was about 5 minutes from our next appointment so we decided to eat there beforehand. Walking in, we were sort of confused if this was a "Wait to be seated" situation or seat yourself. We weren't even greeted. You pay up front and then you can sit anywhere apparently. We sat down and had some soup delivered shortly. After about 5-8minutes out food came out. It was not piping hot which sort of sucked but at least the flavor was good. The chicken teriyaki cuts were inconsistent and that sort of bugged me but again at least it tasted good. Had some fat on it which I didn't like. The katsu was ok. My boyfriends' Mongolian beef was kind of tough to chew through. Overall it was a decent dinning experience. Not sure if we would come back. Portions are great for the price, and the staff is ALWAYS friendly and courteous. In the last 6 years, I've never been disappointed. The restaurant is clean and in a great location. The quality of the food was bad! Our meal tasted like rubber. They poured too much teriyaki sauce on the meat and all you can taste is the salty sauce all over the meat and not only did they pour too much on the meat, they also had way too much salad dressing on the darn salad. I was very disappointed because I read some good reviews about them and even when we got there, the place looked very inviting and also very clean and you'd think they'd have some delicious food but I guess that was wrong!! Along that line, I've had some good teriyaki experience with the small diners scattered around tacoma/parkland area and regrettably Uni teriyaki wasn't one. Hooray for new Teriyaki places! This brand new establishment is located in the Garfield Commons, which has the new PLU Book store as its primary tenant. There are some other spots in here as well, all good for the students. Parking can be kind of crazy at peak hours, but it shouldn't be hard to find some. UNI has many things going on for it, not only does it offer the traditional teriyaki plates, it also offers bento boxes, some Chinese items, and 2 non-traditional items that many teriyaki places do not carry. BiBimBap, and Ramen bowl. I tried the BiBimBap, It wasn't the best I have ever had, and it was kind of flimsy in terms the amount of goodness they gave you, but it was also 6.99, so it was a good deal. You also get a bowl of soup with your meal as well. And for the hungry student, you get a punch card as well. read more

If I was allowed to give this place a big fat ZERO I would. I had this Beef teriyaki off the wok. Disgusting! All the broccoli was SOGGY and over cooked, it had FROZEN VEGETABLE MIX (you know the Lima Beans, Carrots and Corn Kernels) Since when does Teriyaki have Lima Beans and Corn Kernels??!! It was sitting in a pool of "TERIYAKI" sauce and the meat did not taste fresh, it was rubbery and off tasting. It was accompanied with ice burg lettuce and some odd mayo based dressing. I ate very little since I was so displeased with the food and I am glad I did, because when I woke up at 4 a.m throwing up I knew I must have gotten food poisoning! I went to the Urgent Care clinic 5 hours later (that's when they opened) Just to make sure I didn't have something else and to validate why I was throwing up non stop. Sure enough Flu test came back negative and I was prescribed antibiotics to fight off whatever awful bacteria this Teriyaki place had in their food. Awful! I come here often, and they have great food. This is probably my #1 go to teriyaki in the Parkland area. Pros (+) : - Good food. Their Bibimbap is awesome. So is their Spicy beef or chicken. I wouldn't really recommend the Mongolian Beef, pretty bland. - Friendly shopkeep. The gals who man the register are usually kind and helpful. Willing to answer whatever questions you have for them. - Restaurant is clean. Not something you can get from all Teriyaki joints. - They have a Punch card. And seriously, with how much teriyaki I eat, it gets filled pretty fast. The deal is Buy 10 means get 1 free. There is a catch though, the 1 free meal is only worth $6.99 anything above that will be charged to you. That part is kinda annoying, but hey I won't complain too much. This is one of the few places that do it anymore. - Open on SUNDAYS. There isn't much else to go when you're craving it. Cons (-) : - Their food is just good. I wouldn't drive anymore that probably 10 mins to come here. Anything more, and I would rather travel to Downtown Puyallup, or beside JBLM for some better eats. - Parking can sometimes be annoying, easy to find, but annoying. All in all, pretty good. I've tried many teriyaki places but this place is by far my favorite. The prices are decent for the amount they give you whether it be for to-go or dine-in. When I want it to-go they literally stuff the box as much as they can and of course the taste is amazing. Sauces were bountiful and the chicken was tender for my taste. When I chose to dine-in my friend and I were given our food and a service of egg drop soup for each of us! I'm not entirely sure if it was just for that day only or if they gave it to everyone. They will give you cups so you can fill or refill drinks yourself. Customer service was good, quality and quantity of food is decent too. Also they have punch cards where you get the 11th meal free. I was very disappointed yesterday. A couple of weeks ago, I tried UNI Teriyaki because other teriyaki restaurants in the area have changed from actual teriyaki sauce to a sweet orange sauce. Two weeks ago I was happy and impressed that UNI actually had teriyaki sauce. Yesterday I bragged about the new place to a friend. We went to UNI for TERIYAKI lunch.
