I went in today with a jam -- although my car had responded to a jumpstart, I didn't trust it to run throughout the day as I drove to and from different clients. I pulled into the garage a little after 2, needing to be at work by 3. Norman, the man in charge, immediately set to work looking at the alternator. Within twenty minutes he had tested the alternator and determined it to be bad, diagnosed the problem behind the "check fuel cap" light that I had been ignoring, written up a very reasonable estimate for the work to be done, and even solved my problem about transportation: he was willing to lend me a loaner car while he did the repairs. I returned after work -- about three hours later -- to find the work completed at an even lower cost because he had sourced a part at a more competitive price. My F-150 blew a spark plug (common problem), and I was concerned that it would cost too much to repair versus what it was worth.... ...until I talked to Norman! He explained what he would do to fix it and quoted a VERY reasonable rate. In the end, he was able to fix it within his estimate, PLUS added a free oil change! The truck is now running great! Had I taken my truck to the dealer, no doubt it would have cost me five or six times more than what Norman charged me. I just moved to the area. Not knowing a mechanic I can trust, I took my car to Union Auto Care based on the reviews here, and I'm glad I did. I was worried that I might have a power steering fluid leak and that it might require a new rack and pinion. Norman showed me that the car is OK. It's refreshing to have a mechanic tell you that no repairs are required (I NEVER heard that from the dealership). He took me under the car and showed me everything he saw. So Union Auto Care gets five stars for being honest. He also gave me a quote on my next major service and took the time to explain everything that would be done. I plan to take my cars to Norman's shop whenever I need work. One thing to keep in mind is that the entire place is two maintenance bays in the back of a gas station. So don't plan to sit down in a waiting area with a cup of coffee and some WiFi, because those things don't exist. However, if you want an honest mechanic who charges reasonable prices, then you'll like this place. read more

Needed battery replacement. When I arrived they didn't have the right size battery in stock so one of the mechanics got into his car and went and got one. The mechanic that swapped the battery noticed there was a few months remaining on my battery and brought it to my attention, risking the sale. Completely honest. I went with the new battery. Afterwards he was also able to restore my radio and navigation without codes from Acura - if you know what I'm talking about, you'll really appreciate this, it saved me a trip to the dealership. I took my car in for a smog check at about 8:30am. He said they couldn't take me until 10am. So I came back at 10am and they were ready for me right at the time he said. He told me it would take 20 minutes, and it took almost exactly 20 minutes. He was extremely friendly and courteous. read more

Like other people have mentioned before, I can safely say that Norman is honest, knows what he's talking about and he does an astounding job. We recently took our Mini. Turns out, one of the struts was severely damaged and was leaking. He replaced both in record time and did an amazing job. The car handles like new again. I have been using Union Auto Care (Norman) for my car needs for the past five years. I have always liked Norman's business style, his honesty, and his courteous behavior. However, one particular incident prompted me to write this review. Recently, my Honda CR-V gave up on me and I had it towed to Norman's shop. Norman looked at it and told me that it needs a new battery. At the time I realized that I still had warranty for the battery from my dealer but it would have been too much work towing it again to the dealer. So asked Norman to replace the battery. Realizing that I would miss my appointments and the fact that I had a toddler with me, Norman worked at lightning speed and got my car ready in just an hour!!! While picking up the car, he gave me my old dead battery and asked me to take it to the dealer to get a partial refund. Gem of a mechanic Norman is!! I promptly took the dead battery to my dealer and they agreed to send me a $70 rewards card. I would not have done this if it was not for Norman. I can confidently refer Norman for all of your car needs. P.S - His shop is extremely clean, organized and tidy. read more

it was an occasional incident for me to drop by there. i was filling gas there when i found that there is an auto shop there. i went there to take a look anyway. it was a clean and well organized workshop, which made me feel good at the first glance. so i went to greet at Norman and we talked about my car. i felt good with his personality. then we had a deal, take my car tomorrow to have the timing belt as well as the other parts replaced next day, around lunch time. then over night, the whole service were done and there was an extra service done in addition to the quoted services. i feel pretty much comfortable with Norman's service and would like to recommend this shop around. read more

I called and made an appointment here the day before my appointment. The guy I spoke to on the phone told me to pick a time, which makes you assume he was pretty open all morning. I scheduled it for 10am and showed up right on time. I pulled up and no one spoke to me, so I parked and walked over to a guy who looked like he worked there, and tried to get his attention, finally he told me they were too busy and I should come back in the afternoon. I told him I'd made an appointment, and he said that was too bad and there was nothing he could do about it.. There were no apologies or explanations, so I called another place an headed over. Being rude and forgetting your appointments in the service industry is definitely a no in my book. read more

I just had by far the best experience with auto repair in my life. I was blown away by Norman's incredible knowledge, customer service, and price. He knows domestic , Japanese, and European cars. You know it's a good mechanic when you walk in and everything is clean and organized. This is a really tough thing for mechanics to succeed in, and Union Auto Care has done well. I called just under a week before my scheduled appoint, so it was no problem at all to get the day and time I needed for my extremely limited schedule to get an oil change. I was previously leasing this car -- so the experience I've had is oil changes that take no less than 2 hours because they (dealerships) have overbooked themselves. I was astonished when I was told only 1 hour for the oil change!! I mentioned finding them on Yelp, and got 10% off an already reasonable cost for an oil change. What great find (thanks to Yelp, of course!). Norman struck me as a solid individual overall. He did a great job of explaining exactly what was wrong with my brake system and what exactly he was going to do to fix it. When I arrived to pick up my car, Norman showed me my old brakes and rotors for good measure. Oh, and I was able to drive home with new brakes that same day, despite the amount of work that needed to go into them. If I would have left the car at my aunt's repair shop, I wouldn't have seen it for at least a week. Thanks, Norman! So far the brakes have been working well. Went back because my car (2007 Honda Accord) was having a hard time starting up one day and it continued to misbehave . Not only Norman found out it was only the battery, he made sure that everything else was OK. The new battery (Honda manufactured) was replaced on the same day with full warranty. Norman and his team truly are amazing. They are honest, hardworking, true to their word, genuinely care about thier customers and are easy to communicate with. I dropped my car off with Norman for a week to find out the cause of a check engine light issue while I was out of town, and while I was away he followed up with me with what the issue was and the price it would be. When I returned, not only had he fixed the issue, he also had replaced one of my tires with my spare (for my own good interest), saying that the previous tire was worn really low and so it would be dangerous for me to drive on it. The final price was extremely fair and was spot on with what he had originally estimated. I have never yet come across a mechanic that hasnt tried to take advantage of their customers, never mind a girl, so I would completely recommend him and his team to anyone. The man I spoke with was rude and a rip off .. he didn't even see my truck and insisted that I needed new rotors I told him how do you know I'm not there he didn't even look at it.
