We had a guys night out the other week and decided to meet up at Union. Unfortunately one of friends couldn't make it until later so we weren't able to make it in for the Pappy tasting, but that will be done in m 2026 if I have anything to say about it. We came on a dreary day and the vibes kinda represented that with both patrons and staff. The drinks were delicious. I got the clarified cocktail which gave holiday vibes of sweet and spice filled. I couldn't come in without getting the burger. It was solid. I'd put it in my top 15 in the city. The potatoes that they are served with are also extraordinary. Overall a pretty decent place and very convenient location.

    The burger. Great burger.

I've been back a few more times now. Service has gotten much better. Food is quite good and they have a big beer selection and let you taste everything. I don't like the fa t that they have a 5% service charge. I think service charges are bullshit and I'll remove a star from every place that puts a service charge on the tab. Especially when it's not the typical 3% and is 5%. Just raise the food prices. Knock that stuff off. Should be a 4 star bar. But thy get 3 stars for the service charge nonsense. I'll raise my review when they pull the service charge and just raise the prices appropriately z

I can't tell if this is a very cool bar with ridiculously good food, or a very cool restaurant with ridiculously good drinks. Regardless, this place is "ridiculous" and the best way possible. Chicago sour is one of the greatest cocktails I've ever had, and they're sticky toffee pudding. The night was phenomenal. Unfortunately I did not take pictures of the asparagus, carrot, burger, or Bronzino. I think we were just too excited and devoured the food. I'm excited to come back with your friends and family soon. The waiter and witches were incredibly kind and hospitable, and the chef even came out and chatted with us.

Walked in on a Saturday night and was able to snag a seat at the bar! Cute inside lots of lights! Sat at the bar and the bartender Nico's ( who I overheard was filling in for someone sick) topper toppled over, and wasted some drink in front of me. he didn't bother cleaning it up but did say sorry! I asked for a napkin so I could clean it myself! I also tried to start a conversation and he was not very warm or kind to me but did seem to like the other patrons around kind of made me sad tbh I love talking to the bartenders!! But that's why the deduction of a star! Great drinks and very very cute atmosphere!! I tried the Chicago Sour ( delish) and my friend had a couple sours! Overall I would totally come back

Had a wonderful time at Union during a weekend trip to Chicago! We got several vegetarian appetizers and entrees to share and they were all great! The asparagus, salad and burrata were all amazing- I loved the asparagus especially. The pasta was also delicious and we really enjoyed it. The cocktails and drinks were delicious!! We started with pickle back shots as well which were amazing. Our server was kind and helped us with the menu as vegetarians! Overall, this place was definitely a hidden gem during our Chicago trip! It's well located in a cute neighborhood as well.

I know Union is known for their burger. I don't eat burgers, so I cannot help you here. BUT, I can say that everything else on the menu is DELICIOUS. The fried olives are a must-order. Their rotating daily specials are very unique. The pastas are soooo good, don't sleep on them!! Chicken with romesco sauce was excellent. And randomly, the Broccolini was my favorite dish of the whole night! We came here with a party of 7 for a birthday and were treated so well. Service was very fast. Cocktails and food came out fresh and perfect. The server was great in helping us choose enough dishes to share amongst 7 people. We had a great time and I definitely would come back!

Had a good time catching up with friends at Union. First and foremost they have an extensive selection of beer from supper hoppy to tart sours and nonalcoholic options as well. Make a reservation in advanced as they get packed pretty quickly. Service was great and food was good but definitely smaller portions than we expected. I had the pasta for my entree which was delicious but it desperately needed to be a bigger portion or to have the option of adding a protein to it. Sadly we did leave still feeling hungry as we expected larger portions than what was served, but all food was of high quality. Just order more than you think you need and you'll be good.

One of my friends took me here and I was surprisingly shook. The place looks like a normal little pub from the outside, but I kid you not, some of the BEST beers AND the best Smashburger I've had in Chicago. I've tried everything form Au Cheval, Small Cheval, Billy Goat's, everything. And this STILL takes the #1 spot. The service was amazing, we sat at the bar and had the best service. The bartender was super attentive and kind and explained everything quickly. They had this "$20 Burger deal - 1 shot, 1 beer, and 1 smashburger" for $20 and it was DELICIOUS. The burger was cooked to perfection, crispy on the edges and perfectly tender and juicy on the inside. The bun was well toasted and the cheese melted perfectly. I also enjoyed the fact that the shot and beer was included and I could get it whenever I ready for it. I also had a glass of their Gamay wine and it was delicious. I can't wait to bring more people here! Amazing.

What drew me here was the fact that they have such an extensive list of various spirits available in 1 oz pours. In my early days I would go to my favorite bar & just try different things & it's the same option here. My union old fashioned was ok. Doubt I'd other that again to as my single pour was cheaper & honestly they're generous with said pour. I'm slightly intrigued to try food. It overall this is a solid drinks option with attentive service.

Union is INCREDIBLE. We popped in Saturday without a reservation and were able to snag immediate bar seating. Our server/bartender was phenomenal. She provided amazing recommendations- like the smoked feta from the peas paired with the meatballs- and was super attentive. Everything from the cocktails to the meal to dessert was a 10/10. SO so good! Also a pickle martini? Obsessed.

My husband and I went to dinner at Union for some small portions and drinks as we wanted to visit their other partner bar after we ate. We made reservations ahead of time because it becomes super busy during dinner time and on weekends. It's a very small place, but did not feel super crammed which we appreciated. The menu had upscale pub food and we loved all of it. The wine and beer selections were also great and paired well with our meal. Our server was super nice and helpful when it came to what to order. We would dine here again for sure!

Great restaurant literally right off the California blue line stop. Went with a friend who said I had to try their broccolini and I laughed until I tried it. This has to be the best broccolini I've ever had! Was only able to catch appetizer and drinks but want to return to try the burger because it looks incredible. I did take a risk and try the pickle martini which was okay but more on the bread and butter pickle side and I was hoping for more of a dill taste. Just preference though it was still good. Service was great. Came for an early dinner and able to get in without a reservation. Cool ambiance also.

The mushroom and kale pie was nice and cheesy and the rocking vegan pie was more savoury, with a variety of vegetables and chickpeas as stuffing. The crust was neither too soft nor too crunchy. The highlight of the meal was the curry chips: potato wedges lightly fried with masala and curry leaves. The dipping sauce that came with the chips reminded me of tikka masala sauce, and paired beautifully with the chips. Dessert was toffee pudding: the caramel sauce that came with the pudding was delectable - the pudding itself was excellent and not overly sweet. We tried a variety of NA beers, and I was pleased with how many options they had. Service was quick, and we were well looked after. The ambiance is warm, with dim-ish lighting and a lot of dark wood. The restrooms were gorgeous - special shoutout to the lovely floral wallpaper. Overall, I highly recommend Pleasant House - the vibe is chill and understated and the food is stellar.

The sausage was very tasty, the breading on the outside was incredibly crisp, light, and the egg inside was cooked well. Both the steak pie and the chicken pie were very good. The chicken pie I think really needed the chutney that you can get separately. But that made it so much better and made it my preferred pie. The steak and ale pie was better than the chicken pie as a standalone, but needed a bit more gravy I think to elevate it. Sticky toffee pudding again was delicious. Surprisingly light, not overly dense so I was glad it came with the custard which was very flavorful. Overall, will definitely return!

On top of that, our waiter gave us a free dessert since we were feeling down about not being able to use all of our tickets at the wine fest. The decor is straight from the 60s or 70s. The menu has something for everyone from ribs to prime rib to burgers. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient. The food was good. Our only one issue is the waiter told us the lamb chop special was gone so my husband ordered the pork chops but what was served were lamb chops. He ate them so we didn't say anything to the waiter but it was strange because the bill listed lamb chops not pork chops. Maybe they weren't gone after all? Over all I'll be keeping Miller's Pub in mind when we need somewhere to go for dinner or lunch and don't necessarily want fast food or the latest hot restaurant.

This is a nice, cozy restaurant and bar, and they really go all out with the decorations during the holidays. We ordered the special (haddock) and the clam chowder. The food was a bit hit or miss. The clam chowder was watery and came out lukewarm. The entrée was much better, the haddock was amazing hot, fresh, and crispy! Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was also lukewarm, although the fries were piping hot. We've been here many times before, especially during the holidays, and it has never disappointed us. Maybe this was just an off night, with some of the dishes not coming out as hot or fresh as they should have been. We'll come back and give it another try the next time we're in the area.

Amazing that fun isn't always beers and chugging. The food is actually good and can be talked about in reviews because some people actually come here to eat, which tells you how they actually have a kitchen. Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. It's located at the intersection of Jackson and Wabash close to lots of fun. The brewery has food that's better than expected but many other things about this kind of stuff are typical.
