Was working in the same shopping center as Union Pizza and at lunchtime I was checking out Yelp reviews. They had great reviews so I decided to get a slice of pizza . I was looking forward to the deep dish Chicago style but they have a specific daily special and the Friday choice, the "Village", did not appeal to me. I went with the thin NY style pepperoni. Sadly, a typical warmed slice. It was too hot. The crust was hard and too crunchy and it was super oily. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. I also hated the paper straws. I got to try Union Pizza Company recently on a lunch trip with coworkers. They have various lunch specials including a speciality pizza of the day. Lunch specials vary from single slices to double slices, with or without salad and thin crust versus deep dish. We came on a day where the speciality pizza was Zorba the Greek (with grilled chicken, tomatoes, feta and mozzarella cheese, onions, green olives, basil and oregano) and East Side (with house roasted artichokes, smoked ham and sautéed mushrooms). Though both pizzas sounded good, I chose to get the East Side as a deep dish. Since it was a speciality pizza, this was $5 + tax. Overall the pizza was decent. Out of all the ingredients, the artichokes were the most prominent. I barely saw any ham and really couldn't tell if there were sautéed mushrooms. It was also smothered with lots of tomato sauce and so a little hard to see and taste all the ingredients. The deep dish crush was actually one of the best parts as the crust had really good flavoring. For a quick lunch, a decent pizza but I do wish the other topping flavors came out more. read more

Excellent Chicago style pizza. I'm originally from Chicago so I know. Don't be fooled by Rance's, this place is THE real deal. This crust is perfect and light even though it's a deep dish pizza that is naturally heavy. There is an almost overabundance of tomato concasse on top, but it adds a lot of flavor. There was a perfect amount of cheese, not too much. I got the Union Pie done Chicago style Deep Dish. It was amazing and the sausage was the nice thin sliced kind. This pizza reminds me a lot of Lou Malnati's. While the other awesome Chicago pizza joint over in Placenta, Tony's, reminds me more of Gino's East since that one is extra cheesy and saucy. read more

For comparison, we ordered the same toppings we get from our local pizzerias. Salami, Black Olives and mushrooms. It was the first time having Chicago pizza for my wife and kids. The pizza was pretty big and had everything I hoped for. The sauce was chunky with tomatoes and the mushrooms and olives were generously on the pizza. All the Salami was on top of the tomatoes and cheese. Our kids could not stop praising how much they enjoyed the pizza. It was exactly what I was hoping for and was even better. I ordered a mushroom deep dish pizza via DoorDash. It arrived just barely kind of warm. Which is not the restaurants fault I doubt the driver put it in an insulated pizza bag anyways my disappointment is with the lack of cheese it was more like a thin crust with an overload of tomatoes. Lots of tomatoes are good when there is a decent amount of cheese. There are other places around LA that do a much better job. I tried it once and that's enough for me. Got to give this place a try. This is really good deep dish style pizza. We ordered a pepperoni and jalapeno pizza with a side of garlic knots. It was all just so amazing! It had a fair amount of sauce cheese and the crust was the perfect crisp. Now on to the garlic knots. Ive had my fair share and the ones here at Union Pizza are up there with the best. I dont know if they make their own marinara but next time I'm definitely getting an extra side for the knots. Union Pizza is located with CVS and other stores. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - PART 2: 63/100 The craving for a pizza lunch was gnawing at me all morning. Who am I to go against a craving, right?! Then a debate: go somewhere familiar? Or try something new. (For the record: it's always good to try something new.) The dealmaker here was their lunch special: one thin slice, one deep dish and unlimited fountain soda for the bargain price of $11. Tons of business in this area - Bristol farms is just next door. But there are plenty of parking spaces available, so that wasn't an issue. (I even found parking up front.) They are situated right behind outdoor seating (not their own - it's for everyone to occupy regardless of where their grub came from.) I added an order of sausage to my thin crust pizza. $14 and change with tax and tip. I was gonna stay inside but decided to take the meal outdoors on a pretty SoCal day. Stubborn (this is the actual name of the brand!) root beer was okay. Thin sliced cheese and sausage pizza was good. The crust was cooked to a perfect crisp. There was something different about the cheese that gave it a bit of a unique flavor which I really liked. The sausage took it up a notch above. I'm not really a deep dish pizza kinda gal, but I figure, it's been awhile since I had one, and with this bargain combo, it was a good chance to give it another shot. Maybe I just got too full from the thin slice (it is a pretty big portion) or I may just not be a fan of the day's deep dish special, but I remain not a fan of the deep dish. I have frequented this location quite a bit over the years, but honestly, a $40 delivery that not only delivered ice cold food, but delivered it 2.5 hours after ordering is just flat out unprofessional & has now come to fruition to have me write a bad review. There is a reason I haven't ordered from Union in a lonnnnng time & last nights 2.5 hour wait for delivery was the reminder. I ordered online at 629pm. I ordered directly from Union's website. Delivery times vary, but was given an hour wait time. Delivery times vary, but by 1.5 hours???? 830pm I call the store to find out where my order is. Get put on hold by a young guy. Hold for 4 minutes. This time a woman gets on the phone & says she texted her driver but he hasn't answered. My order left the store & I should be the next delivery. Not only did she not apologize for the long wait, she offered no explanation, no discount or a coupon and an apology was what I wanted. 850pm my order arrives. Ice cold. Literally. I had to spend 10 minutes warming up my oven and another 15 minutes warming up the food. Epic fail. 3 hours after I ordered A PIZZA!!!!!!!!!!!! Add a hangry child to the mix that was past his bedtime by the time the pizza arrived. Plus, they charge tax on the delivery in addition to the food. With tip & a delivery charge, I spent $8.47 for COLD PIZZA to be delivered. I feel so ripped off. That is 1/4 of the pizza's worth!! The quality of food is decent, which is why I gave a star but 2.5 hour waits for cold delivery makes the food absolutely not worth it. I am so pissed I spent $40 on cold shit food. I could have had a glass of wine & a decent dinner, with tip for $40 at a nice place in Manhattan Beach. But instead, it was spent on ice cold pizza and no wine. I use to go here on lunch breaks too since I work down the street but that has changed because of similar situations. Late for meetings because of a lack of staff, and rude staff to boot. My hard earned cash is going elsewhere. There are way too many pizza shops around MB that offer delicious pizza, but with much faster & nicer service. So I never really write reviews, but this had to be done. First, let me say that the deep dish was pretty good to be honest - I'm a big pizza snob but it wasn't half bad for being a California pizza place trying to make Chicago style. The sauce had a sweet tangy taste to it and the crust was pretty decent. I would have given this place 4 stars if it was just for the pizza. That said, the "Garlic Knots" were nothing that we expected. Take a look at the picture of the "garlic knots" we received - they were pretty much dried up, cold and old pizza crust that didn't have any flavor at all.
