I went to union public house this afternoon to celebrate my birthday with my friend. I ordered a wedge salad with chicken and an appetizer. Shortly after receiving my salad a bug crawls out from underneath the lettuce on my plate. By the way this salad cost me 16 dollars. I was calm and extremely respectful trying to keep the situation as quiet as possible considering the other people eating around me. The manager proceeds to come over and say "wow this is so weird" never apologizes, picks up the bug with his bare hands and takes my plate away. He tells me he will put in another salad for me. The salad took 15 minutes to come out, by that point my friend was finished eating and I ended up finishing our appetizer. I asked for the salad to be boxed. I expected the manager to at-least subtract something from my bill considering there was a bug in my food and the fact that I also did not get to eat or enjoy my salad due to the time it took to get to me. The manager never came to talk to me after the incident took place. I never expected my kindness to clearly be taken advantage of. I do not expect hand outs but I also do not expect to be charged 16 dollars for a salad with a bug that I did not even get to eat. I will never be eating at this restaurant again. read more

I've been going here on and off for Whiskey Wednesdays with a few knucklehead buddies for years. Ok, honestly Mrs M. would not be happy if she read this as i'm not sure I always told her where I was and for some reason she thinks Ill get into trouble if she is not there to corral me..imagine that. Anyway the food has always been good, not a huge menu but a nice happy hour selection, I've eaten the pork sandwich and burgers more than anything and always have enjoyed them. Boy I'm on a roll with BBQ lately. The fries are always delicious (I really need to quit eating this stuff and turn to health food..nahh) Honestly the thing I really enjoy about Union is a Tullamore Dew on one of their Ice balls. I just love those ice balls, a little whiskey, a splash of ginger beer or ginger ale and I'm a happy camper. Its a little noisy in there in the evening, alot of youngsters, not sure why a crusty old guy like me is there but maybe it makes me feel a little younger..Ill go with that! Union has a great atmosphere and a wide selection of alcohol which is always nice. Their chicken and waffles has held a special place in my heart for quite sometime but the last time I went they changed the recipe and added corn to the waffle. CORN. The waffle doesn't need corn. No waffle needs corn. Say no to corn. read more

We dined here outside in order to listen to Corey Spector. This is a wonderful venue to listen to live music. The food was delicious, from the poutine starter to the entrees, beef stroganoff and pork schnitzel, with leftovers going home for another meal. We did have two service hiccups. First, we ordered a bottle of wine, which took a LONG time to arrive. Our server did let us know the bar was very busy, but we didn't get our wine until well after our starter and salads. And, when our server brought the wine, she opened it, poured each of us a taste...when we approved, she walked away without pouring glasses for us! Second, we set our bowl of poutine aside after finishing part of it; another server passing by the table picked it up, without asking us if we wanted to take the rest home. I was able to get her attention as she was walking away and let her know we wanted to take the rest home. These are relatively minor issues, but they were surprising. read more

Best chicken pot pie in town. I've ordered it to-go twice this week. They bake it inside of an aluminum container that is perfect for a to-go entree. Comes with really great fresh baked bread. Plus Union is a part of grub hub and uber eats, so you can even have it delivered to your door! read more

I came here for lunch. I had the mac and cheese. It was amazing! I had a few slices of the pepperoni flatbread pizza. It had quality cheese and pepperoni and was cooked perfectly. The food prices were on par for the quality. I got great service from Lindsay. The liquor prices are a little high, but they seem to have great daily specials. I hear this place is rockin at night. We decided to have dinner tonight because of the ratings it had received by previous patrons. The previous favorable reviews seem very unwarranted. The table to which we were assigned was dirty. When our platters were brought to our table, we informed the waiter that the table needed to be cleaned. It was done in a very haphazard manner. I had the chicken pot pie for which pastry tasted like cardboard, the portion was inadequate and not very tasty. My wife had the fish and chips, a small amount of fish and an overabundant amount of french fries. Both entrees were over priced for the serving size. Even though the restaurant area isn't that big, curiously the restaurant had a very impersonal feel to it as one may find in a restaurant with a large dining room. For good comfort food, go to the Hub instead. read more

Food comes out hot, with the best ingredients. I just had the sliders for lunch and they were amazing. The hamburger had a slight spicey flavor which really set it off. The tomato and pickle served with it were incredibly good as well. read more

My husband and I have been here three times now. We love the ambiance, especially sitting outside on the patio. It's the kind of place that makes me feel like I'm not in Tucson and I'm on vacation. I love the cherry limeade as well as the fish and chips. I've had pretty much every vegetarian option on the menu. The food isn't the most amazing I've tasted, but it's definitely delicious and the atmosphere is very nice and relaxing! I really enjoy coming to Union and will continue to do so for consistently good quality food and a great atmosphere. read more

They raised their happy hour prices recently. The well drinks used to be $4 and now they are $5. They are also charging for butter and bread. This is disappointing for loyal costumers. I live right by Union so it's a great place to grab a drink with the girls or run over to for whiskey Wednesday. The patio is beautiful, decor is nice, bar is spacious, but I've never had awesome service... going to a place like Union and not having upbeat, knowledgable service is a let down. read more

Was looking forward to trying this place after reading reviews. I had the ramen and my wife had the pot pie that was recommended by the waitress. Everything came out fast and looked amazing. But the food had absolutely no flavor at all. The ramen had all these ingredients but no flavor. The broth tasted like water with a slight sweetness to it. The pot pie tasted like nothing. I don't see what all the hype was about. I was hoping that the waitress would see that I ate none of my food and comp it but nothing was done. This was a complete waste of time and money. read more

I have tried and tried. This restaurant is in a fabulous location and has a good (though extremely loud) ambience. But the food really is mediocre. The mac and cheese which is supposed to be a specialty actually tasted bad - not bland or ok; but bad. The Union burger and flat breads were nothing to write home about, and certainly not worth the money. The service is terrible on the best of days. Inattentive and when they do get to you, rude. If there is a game on the tv, you are completely on your own. Good luck getting a drink before you are done with your meal. Really disappointing - I expect more for the price and location. read more

1st time trying chicken and waffles and it was delish! I simply haven't had a single meal at Union that I didn't truly enjoy.

A friend and I went on 8/24/16 and overall were very happy. We got there about 6:30 on a Wednesday and it was really busy. Got seated on their patio after about a 15-minute wait. Very happy to be on the patio because the inside was really loud. Waitress was not the best. I drink a lot of tea with dinner and she only refilled twice. We ordered the pretzels and they were delicious! Nice crusty exterior and soft inside. My friend got the asparagus shrimp flatbread and a side of macaroni and cheese with bacon. The mac and cheese was Ahhh-mazing!! It was super creamy, topped with breadcrumbs, then there was crunchy salty bits of house-made bacon. It was to die for! The flatbread was nice and fresh. I got the pastrami sandwich and it was everything it should be. It was loaded with house-cured pastrami, stone-ground mustard, gooey cheese and toasted bread. The patio was nice and cool, though the chairs could be a lot more comfortable. We will definitely be back. read more

They broke the mac and cheese. We used to happily drive 30 minutes just for the mac and cheese. It was thick and rich, full of flavor, topped with pepper and toasty breadcrumbs. It was crave worthy mac and cheese to savor. I don't know what they did but I tasted neither cheese, the leek cream or pepper in what we were served tonight. No flavor. Watery thin sauce. Undercooked noodles. I think they forgot to add the cheese to the sauce. Just blah. The burger was still great and the beers were cold and tasty but we came for the mac and cheese and left disappointed. I don't know if we'll go back anytime soon. So sad. read more

This is my favorite place to go especially when Bri and Andria are bartending! They make the best martini's and keep me and friends coming back on a weekly basis :) If you are looking for a modern pub atmosphere to spend your night at this is the place to visit! I lunched there the first part of February with my out-of-town daughter on a Sunday with the Farmer's Market going on outside our window booth. A very charming setting it was, I must say! I had the smoked Salmon salad and I can't help yelp it WAS Smokin! Ran into the owner as we were leaving and complimented him as well. Our waiter gal was great, all was well, I loved our lunching experience and will be back. Now the Chicken Caesar at 5th St Deli probably gets my Grand Prize of Tucson salads so far, though. read more

I went on Saturday night with my girlfriend, it was quite crowded but we found a seat at the bar where we were quickly served with our drinks. it took a little longer for one of the bartenders to take our dinner order I had the new your strip and she had the pot pie. The food was cooked perfectly and came out relatively quickly. Only mark off is the congregation of bus boys standing next to us looking for the next table to clear. LOVE this place...spent a fortune there last week while I was in town visiting My Hubby who is working in Tuc long term. I was in town for 5 days and we went to The Union 4 times!!!...I only ate there once BUT the calamari and mussels were TO DIE FOR. Love the outdoor seating and the dj who played on Valentines night..took me right back to my 80's roots :). Service was amazing everytime we went there. Kyle did a fab job serving us the 1st night, but I have to give a special shout out to CHRISTINA who was just FAB AND AWESOME, and when im next in town will def ask for Christina to be our waitress. Glad My Hubby took us there (My Outlaws were also in town from MT) and seeing as he lives very close to Ther Union im sure he will be back way before im back in town.. Epic failure! Service was slow despite servers rushing around the restaurant. Eggs, greasy! Fish, greasy! It took 15 minutes for second cup of coffee. Might be a great place for drinks, but beware of food and service during brunch. Disappointing! read more

I've only been during Whiskey Wednesdays and the weekend, so this is not a review of the restaurant but of the bar/lounge. Not my favorite spot, very chill and loungey, which isn't my scene but that's just me. Bartenders are attentive and fast and the set up is very nice with a large patio and a lot of room to sit. read more

Have gone two time in last month and a half. first time I had fish and chips. It was delicious. also had fried calamari and a ceasar salad. both were great. the restaurant was crowded and so one of the 6 of us had a mix up and did not get his meal. The manager could not do enough for us. The 6 of us were very impressed as a result. Just went again last night. food and service were excellent. i had chicken and waffle and caesar salad. the manager recognized us form last time and came over and apologized yet again for the prior visit. That is pretty incredible. We are a group of between 4 and 6 that go out to dinner every friday night. We WILL be going to the Union Public house again.
