To respond to your comment Grant, the child who was sitting at another table and playing with his toys, not your silverware, was not even with our party. So if your server was paying attention she would have realized that we were given attitude for something that had nothing to do with us. Second, the child you are referring to by the bar was by the stair area not your bar. He was also not playing with your fire pit, he was simply by the couches in that area. And by kindly you mean, yelling from two tables down and scolding guests in your establishment. It could have been handled in a way more professional manner. So before you respond not knowing the whole picture of what transpired, you should make sure you are educated on the events that occurred. There were other guests in the area who were astonished at your staffs handling of the situation not just us. Given your response to this review and various other bad reviews you have received, it is no wonder your staff acts the way they do towards guests, it's a learned behavior from ownership. read more

Went there on a Friday night with my fiancé and we were greeted by friendly staff and a lively, hip ambiance. Live DJs both for the indoor and outdoor dining, almost made me forget about life before the COVID-19 pandemic! The food and service? Great! Despite the beautifully decorated patio seating with fairy lights and live music, we opted for an indoor table with mood lighting so that we'd be able to hear each other talk. The music was still loud inside but it felt a little more cozy than the seemingly crowded outside. Our server was lovely. Made great recommendations. I got a 9 oz glass of wine and my fiancé opted for a local red ale. We got the Poutine fries and Ham Mac & Cheese for starters. Followed by the Pasta Fresca (I added Salmon) and Pork Schnitzel as the entrees. Our entrees took a bit long but the server knew when to check in and update us along the way and, luckily, I was in good company! The appetizers were BOMB!! The poutine was layered with oozing cheese and a home-style gravy without sogging up the fries, and the Mac & Cheese was divine! My fiancé enjoyed his Pork Schnitzel dish as the spaetzle and schnitzel itself was cooked perfectly. The zesty sauce they had over the pork was definitely the twist from the OG/traditional German recipe but he was a fan! I was not as in love with my Pasta Fresca as I hoped, although the added salmon was excellent! The pasta dish tasted fresh and light, I just felt as if the pasta/sauce was a bit dry. Still, with the added salmon, I enjoyed it :) The total for our full shebang + tip came up to a little more than $100! Pricey? Yes a bit, but this accounts for their excellent service, great-tasting food, and ambiance. Great place for a night out with live music and people watching! Went tonight to Union Public House for my birthday (it was on Wednesday, as I am now an indescribably old lady of 42). We did have to wait to be seated, which was fine. I always carry a book in case of emergencies, like if someone tries to talk to me. If you are also an introvert, highly recommended. (5 out of 5 stars.) We were seated, depending on your POV, either in front of or behind a very rowdy group of girls in their early twenties. One received an impromptu lap dance from a friend. Little awkward, just saying. We started with the mason jar. House made pickles and veggies, yum. DH had Johnnie Walker Black (reasonably priced at $10) to start. The cocktails sounded delicious, but I didn't feel like drinking tonight. Next time I'll probably have one of the mules, though. There are a ton of different kinds and they all sound terrific. The mason jar was delicious. I was leaning pretty strongly towards a heavy dinner, so a light and delicious starter sounded good. (I would have happily tried the cauliflower, hummus, pretzels or bread and butter as well.) I was extremely excited when I found a great big pickle at the bottom of the jar. ***IT WAS A JALAPENO AND NOW I KNOW EXACTLY HOW HOMER SIMPSON FELT AFTER EATING THAT BRAZILIAN INSANITY PEPPER. I did *not* see any coyotes that sounded like Johnny Cash, did not wake up on a golf course, and also didn't climb any weird pyramids or kick a spiteful turtle*** I had a few options for what I wanted to eat tonight. I had gone in legitimately hyped about the prospect of chicken and waffles. But the pot pie sounded really good. So did the fish and chips. And is that bacon jam on that burger? Oh geez. This is gonna be tough. The pork schnitzel won out. Lemon mushroom sauce (I found no fungus on my plate, much to my delight) on the most tender, delicious piece of pork I have ever eaten in all my forty two years. Angels sang and danced on the tip of my tongue as I ate. The schnitzel was served with a delicious swiss chard with wine soaked raisins as well as pretzel spaetzle. The perfect bite (to quote Scott Conant from "Chopped") was some raisins, spaetzle, and lemon butter sauce from the pork. What is spaetzle exactly? Delicious. That's all. There's a reason Julie Andrews was singing about schnitzel with noodles in The Sound Of Music, cuz she knew what's up. DH had the stroganoff. I can't wax poetically about his dinner because I only had a bite of the beef. He did say it was delicious, and the beef I had was very, very good. The service was good. Will was a great waiter and checked on us often throughout our meal. We sat outside, and it was the perfect night for it. Absolutely beautiful. As we were leaving, I told DH there have only been two recipes I'd write to Bon Appetit for. One is the Chicken Colada with garlic mashed potatoes I had in Hawaii in 1998. The other? The cauliflower appetizer with honey sesame sauce and the margherita pizza were fresh and good. but for our group that was all the compliments we have about the food. The half chicken tasted a little too charred for my palate. The fries came out stale as week old potato chip the first time around and i drew the short straw to get the waitress's attention to make another batch for us. They forgot utensils for us. The ramen.... definitely a stay away. Our server described it as a "modern twist" and that it would taste different. in reality the broth was colored salt water and the noodles left a residue on my tongue not too different from the texture of horse glue. Came here at 6:30 on a Saturday night and I was surprised how dead the place was. I'm assuming it's because the U of A students have gone home for the summer.... And the snowbirds aren't here!! I had the pulled pork, no bun with crispy homemade chips. My daughter had the Falafel wrap as a salad with French fries. Both entrees were awesome! The service was terrific. My wife and I were recommended this place for brunch so we decided to come here with a friend from Phoenix. Just some background, we often go to Phoenix to visit our friend for brunch and vise versa. When we went to Union Public house the drinks were amazing. My wife and I ordered the eggs Benedict and our friend ordered the mouth of the south. When we got our food the eggs Benedict were amazing, however, the potatoes that came with it did not taste fresh. It tasted as if they were heated up in the microwave. Our friend had no complaints with his food. I was able to finish them since I was hungry, but my wife was not. I am willing to give this place another shot because everything else was so good. I will likely update my review at that time. Maybe the potatoes were just a fluke. The last thing I want to comment on is how it's a pretty cool area. Came here for a late dinner (maybe 9pmish). Started out with the BBB^ (Brussels sprouts, bacon, beets, honey) which honestly is one of the best things I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a whole lot of things in my life. It was a bit salty at the bottom, but all of the flavors were so good individually and together, and I could not be happier that my s/o pushed me to get it. Unfortunately, my main dish, the Tokyo Niçoise was incredibly disappointing. The sweet potato shoestrings were chewy instead of crisp, the egg was the right consistency but had no flavor, the tuna was seasoned poorly, and the dressing was nothing to write home about. Would not recommend. But the magic of the BBB^ means that I will be back to Tucson, and back to Union Public House. read more

I loved everything about this place minus how I was treated by a manager who I believe was named "Jarred". I was seated on the patio with my dog and he was visiting another table while on leash because they literally beckoned him over to say hi. Jarred came up to me and berated me telling me to keep control of my dog. This was completely uncalled for and totally out of touch with the reality of the situation. The other customers and staff including my waitress persuaded me to come back and leave a review such that the owner might see it and correct the situation. So here it is. WOW....What a down grade review I have to give.....which I am very careful to do. We used to be frequent visitors to this establishment. The service is great, the food is ok (average), the bill has been over inflated the last 2 times with things we did not order! ($20-$30 over) I contacted management both times and they did not correct the bill. The SCAM is they come to the table at the end of the meal and engage in jolly conversation, then hand you an I pad to take your payment and leave you tip without a reciept. Then you find out you were up charged for things you did not order....what a violation of the trust you had in them. We are done with Union!....make sure you get a reciept so you can litigate it there.... read more

My wife and I have been going to Union for years when we come to town. It's a great place to meet up with friends to eat, drink, & listen to music. Last night I was super disappointed in their leadership team. It was 62 degrees outside the night before thanksgiving and their leadership team refused to allow their staff to turn on the outdoor heaters until the temperature dropped below 60 degrees. With all of the sicknesses that have gone around these past few years including Covid -19 & bad RSV for the little ones, I find it super irresponsible of the Union Public House leadership team for not accommodating their guest in the cold weather and having hundreds of people sit out in the cold. Very irresponsible and I hope multiple families don't get sick as a result of their leadership team having people sit out in the cold. Hi Grant, Thank you for your response. I did not see an option to respond to you so I am editing my post. Your response that the outside heaters are available by request only make perfect sense, however just about every table sitting outside in the cold requested to turn them on and your staff continued to refuse stating the policy is 60 degrees or colder. It was 64 degrees when my party started asking and we were refused at least 5 times. We would have happily moved inside but inside was packed. Again I think you run a great business I just think it is super irresponsible of your company to have a policy in place which allows your staff to refuse to turn on the heaters and have your guest sit out in the cold with the risk of getting sick right before the holidays. Visited today with our neighbors. Nice atmosphere (industrial) easy enough.parking and we got there .just before the big brunch rush. Definitely a do-over. I had the meatloaf.. very good (if slightly untraditional). My wife had some kind of chicken on polenta and both of the friends had a fried chicken monster sandwich. Looked really good. The only downside was the crazy loud table (3 pushed together) with tequila shooting millenials next to us. Management should have calmed them down a bit. Just moved our son here to Tucson from Atlanta. My daughter in Indiana had some burgers delivered last night, outstanding! They arrived on time and hot. Huge flame grilled burgers with skin on fries. Side of pub chips blue cheese crumbles with a cheese sauce to dip, very tasty. So much food we never got to the salads. My husband and I just moved to Tucson from L.A. and we love how quiet the foothills are. But sometimes we like to shake it up mid week (reminds us of home). This place (and the entire St. Phillips Plaza) was such a surprise! Live music or DJs most nights of the week. TVs playing the games (we can't miss football or baseball) and really great service who want to make sure you've got your drink and any bites if you're ordering. My husbands old fashion was delish and my whiskey sour was superb. Not many places get it right (or I'm just picky). Their burger is great. Their fish n chips are good. Recently stopped in for quick bite and a couple of beers. Decent selection of draft beer here. I ordered one from the menu, and a few minutes later, the bartender came back and advised me that they were out of that beer. I picked another beer from the draft beer menu, and unfortunately, same results... They were out of that one, too. Ordered a third option from the menu, and a different bartender showed up and told me that they were out of it, as well, but after a brief search, my original bartender determined that they DID have my third choice available. Whew.... After a lot of back-and-forth, I finally got a beer. On a positive note, it was cold, and tasted fresh! Ordered a pretzel, but unfortunately, it came out VERY well done and was extremely hard on the outside and dry inside. I do like this place... I like the location and the vibe, but It appears that someone needs to pay a bit closer attention to the beer menu and stock! Union used to be our favorite place to go but lately the servers are so rude. The last time we went it started with the hostess throwing the menus on the table and walking away because I wanted to sit in the window. Then when we told the server that didn't care for the soup she quit talking to us -she cashed us out because she said she was going to go home and we hadnt even ordered yet she said someone would be over but they never did, I had to get up and get someone and when she came to the table she said "what do you want. "Then the pizza was bad, the meat was hard as a rock and when we told the server she said -oh!!! We also saw them in the corner talking about us very clearly. I asked for the business card of the general manager and I emailed him and he hasn't even had the decency to respond so we're done with that place and a lot of people we know feel the same way read more

Mediocre at best on a Monday at Noon sitting at the bar. Greeted fairly quick and received my first beer shortly afterwards. There were only 4 people at the bartop and a few small tables. From there the service downgraded quickly. Took a while for the bartender to come take my order. Placed order for the Ruben Sandwich. Ran out of beer and waited 10+ minutes for the bartender to come by and order another beer. He had walked by several time as my empty glass sat in front of me. The food came and the meat was good but the bread was way over toasted and dry. I ran out of beer half way through my meal. I stopped eating as I refuse to eat without a drink. I had to wait another 10+ minutes to get the attention of the bartender, again with the bartender having walked by several times. I had to actually wave him down and say "can I get another." A few minutes later the beer showed up but by then my food was cold. General poor service and inattentive staff. Won't be back anytime soon, if at all. read more

I was very excited to eat here since I had never been and had heard great reviews. When we were seated, one of the people in our party showed their ID and there was an issue since it was an out of state ID. The waitress showed the manager and he came to our table EXTREMELY hostile and aggressive. He said he was unable to take the ID, which we explained was okay. However, he then proceeded to tell the rest of our table he was unable to serve the rest of us alcohol, even though we were completely willing to show our ID's and were of age. He was extremely rude and told us he doesn't care if he loses our service and if we never come back. Completely unreasonable and extremely rude, I and the rest of my party of seven people will never be returning again. We found 4 fruit flies in our drinks after drinking them for an hour and the best they could do is offer us another drink from the bar. I let the manager know I did not trust his bar and he said okay! Flies in my drink and he says okay! Never coming back and if you don't want dead insects in your drink I suggest you don't drink at this bar either. The flies did not fly into our drinks. There was three in mine and 1 in my friends they were fruit flies. Clean your bar! read more

I came in last Friday night for dinner with a couple friends. The staff was super nice and welcoming. however while dining, i over heard some lady who i am assuming is a manager, yelling at a host. i'm not usually a nosey person but it is very hard to ignore when they were standing right next to our table. my friends and i found it appalling. we felt so terribly for the young girl because you could tell she was trying her best. we all found the tone of the managers voice super inappropriate as well as the location she decided to have this conversation at. it really put a damper on our entire experience. we have been to union multiple times but find it hard to want to come again after this experience. read more

Hmm. Don't know what to make of this place based on our first visit... This review is not based on having to wait for a table on a Saturday night... that is completely understandable even though we were told 20 minutes and when we asked at 45 minutes they couldn't find our check in even though we had the text and there were at least six open tables inside when we were seated. The check in stand seemed very unsure of what they were doing Anyway, my review starts with the escorted walk to the table... and one of the staff working the floor cuts in front of me with a hard bump... no excuse me or apology...he just kept going. Once we were seated it was another twenty minutes for a server to come to the table. We were about to get up and leave. We asked for water and a drink menu... she said she would try to find one and disappeared for another ten minutes. When she brought the waters we ordered the pretzel stick appetizer. It arrived almost immediately. The sheers dip was cold and congealed. I asked for a new one and she promptly said she could bring a new one but it won't be any different. She never brought a new cheese dip. Also, we didn't have any silverware or napkins and couldn't find our server so we went over to the side of room where they were rolling then in napkins and asked for some. We ordered the burgers and they took about twenty minutes and were very good for what we ate... we were still eating when a bus boy came and took out meals that we were still eating. He gave me a dirty look when I said we were still eating and just took them anyway. Our server was at the table at the time and was very apologetic. She went on to say this was his first food service job and didn't know any better. Our server did give us a complimentary dish of ice cream to make up for it. In short, the food and atmosphere was very nice but the staff doesn't seem to have a clue.
