I discovered this place while visiting Dallas. I love it! The vegan pumpkin muffin and vegan banana muffin were by far the best vegan, gluten-free muffins I've ever had. They were moist and fluffy. I have always heard gluten is what makes muffins "spongy" (maybe springy is a better word?)...these were just like regular muffins!! Big and yummy!! I had a turkey sandwich on paleo bread with vegan cheese, spinach & mustard. The paleo bread is like nothing I've had. Now to be fair the only paleo bread I've had was egg-free and this is not but it had a great flavor. The only vegan cheese I've had tasted more like cardboard but this tasted like real mozzarella! The vegan chocolate cupcake was good but not as good as my gluten free bakery back home (Mason Dixon) because the icing was lighter on this one. But the cupcake from here was BIGGER!! The classic cookie I got for FREE by checking in here on Yelp was delicious (but also contains egg). Finally the latte (chocolate and vanilla with almond milk) was much better than Sbux (the girl with the bright blue curly hair made the best one by far!!) The only drawback to this place is that the items aren't marked with ingredients (in store or on the Yelp menu) so if I had serious allergies I would have to ask about each item. The only reason I won't order online is because I would feel like I'm cheating on my local GF bakery and I just can't do that!! I'll be back when I'm in town. :D read more

unrefined, raw and organic.... even the restroom smell We have been there a couple of times, I have to admin the cupcake that we had was great and moist. The sad part was when we had to use the restroom. There was a smell of open sewer all on the long hall leading to the bathroom. We asked the attendant about it., and just say " you mean the smell yes it has smell like that for a while now. It keeps coming back " I don't care how good and healty your stuff is, that kind of pumbling problem can lead to food contamination. In addition that you have to stand by the counter and wait for people to stop doing what they are doing to take your order, because nobody is able to acknowledge you are waiting to be helped. They are pricey, but it's worth it, especially if you are dealing with allergies and sensitivities. I've never tried anything bad there, but my favorites are the cupcakes, cookies, coffee cake and pumpkin pie. They were giving samples of their dressing at Thanksgiving time, and it was as good as the one my grandma used to make. read more

Absolutely love Unrefined Bakery! It is such a great place for us who need to eat gluten free, but also want to be very healthy while following the GF diet. It also helps show others that GF eating can taste better than the regular white flour/packed with sugar stuff! I've always recieved wonderful customer service - with the owners remembering my name and details about what I enjoy eating there. They have always answered all my questions nicely and in detail. My husband and I just stopped by to stock up on Fudge Brownies with Walnuts (house favorite - I stick them in the microwave for 45 second and he likes to eat them frozen) and Morning Muffins. Since it was lunch time we tried out the new sandwich bar and got an almond milk latte - both were SO good! The sandwiches were fabulous - the paleo bread toasted and tasty and the avocado ad veggies super fresh. I like that they have full nutritional information out on the counter to compare products. We're both strict paleo and my husband has a gluten allergy, but UFB's goods make it easy to eat clean and know what you're getting. I wish I lived closer - I love everything they make! This place has all the potential to be a 4-5 star rating. The staff are super friendly, the place is immaculately clean, the food is obviously specialty-driven and great for people with allergies or diet restrictions. However, I don't like the fact that none of the menus or products on the shelves are marked with pricing. There is a reason for that.....I just had a tiny sandwich and bottle of water that cost $10, and a single loaf of paleo bread was $14! What?? $14 for a loaf of bread is waaay expensive, I don't care how specialized it is. That being said, I'd like to be a regular customer, but don't feel that my pocketbook allows me to enjoy this place very often. read more

A lunch menu would have been nice, but instead all they have is blackboard with breads, cheeses, and veggie choices. No prices anywhere to be seen. Very disorganized. Out of tomatoes, which I consider to be a sandwich staple. Pretty pricey for such small sandwiches. They were good, but not anything outstanding. I went to try Unrefined today and, sadly, I'm totally disappointed! I ordered a lemon cupcake and was told it was cold by the sales professional. Ummm, cold? OK, I'll still take it, because the other cupcakes didn't appeal to me and the choices of the 'menu' are so limited -- bread, bread, and uh... more bread. There's a chalkboard with some sandwich items listed, but nothing that I couldn't make at home myself using gluten free bread and my vegan cheese. I ordered a drip coffee and, along with the cupcake, paid a whopping $6! It would have been worth it if the cupcake was any good, but it was nothing special. The texture was heavier than the gluten free cupcakes I've had before and the icing... please -- there was hardly any at all, and that's the best part of the cupcake to me! It just seemed cheap, yet wasn't. On top of this, the milk for the coffee was brought to me at my table, which I appreciate, yet it was the whole box of milk and the sales professional waited on me to use the milk and then hand the box back. I like to have a small cup to pour myself, as needed, or at least a table where I can go serve myself. Perhaps try some mini cups with the milk, so that customers can serve themselves at their own leisure. The coffee was just like I make at home, nothing special, just average. There was agave syrup and raw sugar for sweeteners. Service: 5 stars! Very knowledgeable sales professional and great attention to me, the customer! Thanks for the free sample of the 5-grain bread, as well. Store: 3 stars. Only about 3 tables inside, plus one little table and chair set for the kiddos. It's in a spot I don't agree with, wedged between two full sized tables, so if the kids are there being loud and running around and you're sitting next to them, you're screwed and will have to find another table (What other table, though, as two are wedged around the kid's table?) or go outside. There is a small patio with a few more tables and chairs under an awing. Just not a good setup for customers who don't want little kids banging into their seat as they drink their $6 coffee and cupcake. Beautiful cakes on display on the counter top! They look so yummy! Cleanliness: 5 stars! Super clean store and restroom! Thanks! Not sure if I'm supposed to clean my own table or not. There's a trash, but no place designated for the plastic basket that my cupcake was served in. Plus, get rid of those plastic baskets, as they look and feel cheap. I started eating Gluten Free and Dairy Free for my nursing infant, as she was having some severe food allergies. As a pretty good cook, I have tried recipe upon recipe to recreate something delicious and safe for my tiny one. I have also tested many GF/DF products from the grocery store. I dropped in at the Unrefined yesterday after my neighbor told me about them. It was so great! Everything was explained in detailed and they are 100% gluten free and 100% soy free!! The almond rusks is exactly what I need for my afternoon coffee break and the food bars are perfect for a quick snack. And they have pizza dough!!! I recently had a co-worker discover that she was Gluten Intolerant. She seemed very down about the fact that her whole lifestyle and everything she enjoyed about food would have to change. I wanted to brighten her day, so I told her about Unrefined Bakery. I decided to take her during her lunch break, since they now serve GF Sandwiches. While at the bakery, The owner, kept coming by our table to make sure we were ok. Super Nice!! My colleague had a few questions, since the GF lifestyle was so new. The nice lady proceeded to spend quite a bit of time explaining very thoroughly about ingredients and certain buzz words to stay away from, when dining out. This is an amazing find. This place can not be driven by without stopping for a cupcake! My daughter has been gluten free for over 2 years now and this bakery makes her smile! Although it is never as easy, cheap, or convenient for me to buy her gluten free products - the products that I purchase here are always the best! Recently, as my busy life got the best of me, I had forgotten to order my daughter a birthday cake. I know - I just lost the Mom of the year award! When I called to order the cake in the midst of the Holiday Season, Taylor took my order. She knew who I was over the phone! She knew my kids! She knew our needs! I have to totally agree with how the daughter comes off very snobby the first time I was there it was a bit weird they don't even try to introduce their products I wanted to see what that place was about and the daughter which was upfront said can I help you and quickly kept going to cutting samples, well we just got what was in the front which were cupcakes and of course they don't put prices or label what it is they are selling and we were more embarrassed to ask cause of the way that we were being treated. Especially if it is your first time there, so I thought maybe the lady is just having a bad day, so we decided to go back and have another try since we were in the area and they had a new girl there since the last time I went . When we asked how much the bars were she got upset ands said "look things are pricey but they are healthy" with an attitude, so there is NO WAY I'll be back. I know I'm not white but my money is the same as the everybody Else's. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE and yes they are NOT COMPLETELY GMO FREE they do use CHEX MIX and the sugar they use is not completely healthy as they claim...I wish people were more honest if they are going to be pricing it up as if they were serving the food as they claim. Also they shouldn't get mad when you ask for prices!!!! if you DON'T LABEL IT than expect to be asked. I found out recently that Unrefined is not actually completely GMO-free. Their cereal snack mix is made with GMO cereal. I love their stuff, but I felt like they hadn't been completely upfront about what's in their products after discovering this and having it confirmed by the owner. She says that they tell their customers that this product has GMOs in it when they buy it, but I know that my husband, child and I have been served samples of it in the store and noone ever said a word about it. This is very concerning to me and makes me wonder what else isn't quite what it seems. We'll still go there occasionally and get other stuff, but this incident has really changed how i view this place, unfortunately. They're doing SO many things right and I just wish they'd take down their sign proclaiming that they're GMO-free if they really aren't. I would never have known about the issue if I hadn't seen the cereal boxes stacked by the bathroom and inquired about it. read more

I can't say enough great things about Unrefined Bakery! I love this place and every single item they sell. Unlike a lot of their other customers, I actually don't have any dietary restrictions and I generally don't eat gluten-free. But I still stock up on their muffins, brownies, food bars, etc. b/c they are seriously WAY better and tastier than anything you can buy at the grocery store. You don't have to be on a special diet to appreciate how delicious, and how much healthier, Unrefined Bakery is than most other places. I also love that the baked goods like brownies are individually wrapped and can be kept in the freezer - it helps keep me accountable when I have a chocolate craving (this way I can eat just one and be totally satisfied; instead of scarfing down an entire pan of brownies). I also recently tried their cafe for lunch and got a sandwich on toasted paleo bread - so yummy; I couldn't tell a difference at all between that and "regular" bread.
