Hubby and I tried out Upper Kirby Bistro for Houston Restaurant Week (HRW) lunch and it was well worth the $25/person ticket. I got the Caesar salad, chicken fried chicken, and the peach cobbler. Hubby got the Asian shrimp, turkey leg, and the chocolate lava cake. Out of everything, the item most worth it was the massive turkey leg. It came with collard greens and dirty rice. We'd come again just for this dish, especially since the meat was so tender and flavorful. The other items were good, not great. Service was great and attentive. This place would be cool to check out again for brunch.

This is probably my 3rd time at Upper Kirby , and tbh I think this was the first time I was truly amazed at the service and quality of food. Never had a problem before , but I would definitely say they have truly improved since the last time I was here. There are many ways you can park such as on the street , valet, or a parking garage down the block. We went on a Sunday afternoon , and it wasn't as busy tbh. However, I always make a reservation. The main room typically has a DJ , which I love. So let's move on to the food. I was quite surprised how fast things came out, but then again it was pretty slow. Started off with the oxtail empanadas! Truly flavorful but wish there was more for the price. I ordered the chicken and waffles as my entree. The waffles were okay, BUT the chicken was very flavorful and big. TBH , the chicken didn't need any condiments. My husband enjoyed the restaurant , so safe to say we will be back.

Finally came here for brunch after having it on my list for a while and for me it lived up to the hype! On arrival I opted for valet parking ($10) so I didn't have to walk far, but there was some street parking available. Upon entry, there were initially going to seat us in their secondary area (left side of the building across the courtyard) but I requested us to be moved to the main dining area and they were able to accommodate us. The main dining area has nicer booths, a bar, and also a DJ playing mostly R&B music. It was definitely a nice vibe. Service was surprisingly really quick throughout. Our waitress was checked in on us frequently, but also not too much. Our drinks and food were served really fast, which was appreciated. To start we had oxtail empanadas, which only came with two, but they were good! For my entree, I had the Five Central Slam and everything was cooked to perfection! From the potatoes, to the eggs, sausage, and bacon, I truly enjoyed my meal. I will note, the waffle that comes with it is essentially only half a waffle (two quarter pieces) so if you were looking forward to a whole waffle, you will have to add a side waffle. Luckily for me, my wife ordered chicken and waffles, so I just ate some of hers, although the waffle that comes with her entree is thinner than the one that came with mine. Speaking of her chicken and waffles, the chicken pieces that come with it are HUGE. Lastly for drinks, we just had water and a carafe of cranberry mimosa which was decent. This was truly a fantastic brunch experience. It's rare for me that black-owned restaurants live up to the hype, but I couldn't have been more pleased with Upper Kirby Bistro. I never thought about coming here for dinner, but now I am a little intrigued. I will definitely be back for brunch in the future and I highly recommend it to all!

I visited **Upper Kirby Bistro** for the first time on 3/17/26 during their all-day Tuesday Happy Hour. They advertised $9 Hennessy, Tito's, and Ketel One drinks, along with $6 appetizers, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the bacon-wrapped chicken and fish tacos from the Happy Hour menu. The tacos looked great when they came out, but I couldn't tell what kind of fish was used. When I asked, I was told it was salmon--definitely not my preference. The waitress did offer to take them back, but since they were only $6, I declined and planned to take them home. Next, I ordered a Sidecar, assuming it would be made with Hennessy since that was part of the Happy Hour promotion. However, when I later reviewed my receipt, I was shocked to see the Sidecar was $18--and the tacos were charged at the regular $17 price instead of the $6 Happy Hour price. Unfortunately, the handheld payment kiosk made it easy to miss these charges in the moment. I had to call back to get a copy of my receipt, which is when I noticed the discrepancies. The atmosphere was nice, but the pricing felt misleading and disappointing. Because of this experience, I don't see myself going back.

Whewwww , I really wanted to enjoy tonight !! Appetizers- chicken rolls 8/10 oxtail empanadas -1/10 ( super dry inside , no flavor $12) Dinner - chicken fried chicken 6.5/10 The broccoli was so good , mash was good as well but the chicken was dry , over fried , bread crumbled immediately. NY steak -8.5/10 it was good . Cooked very well . Dirty rice was good , spicy Bread - lol we ate more bread than anything . Drinks - all I can say is drink before . Customer service - TERRIBLE . While there is someone walking around checking on everyone , the actual waitress was just all over the place . She barely came over to the table . When she did we were pretty much done . I always have a good experience. And maybe me being one of few there for lunch. I was so surprised more people weren't there for HRW. The portions were more than expected and 3 courses were a great surprise. The salad was really good the flavors of the Caesar dressing wasn't too spicy and the lettuce was crisp. The turkey leg plate was a Star. The turkey leg was tender and the dirty with greens made me want to take a nap in the car. The cherry limeade was refreshing and the staff were very attentive. Will always come back.

This has been on my Houston list for some time and I'm glad I finally came. I love the vibe of this place as well as the customer service. Our server was really kind and helped us with any modifications for the menu. They didn't rush us out the door and the food was really good. I'll definitely be back when I visit Houston again.

Second time at upper Kirby was for restaurant weeks lunch special. They offered a four course dining experience. To start I had the gumbo and my friend opted for coconut curry wings. Second were the crispy Asian shrimp; so large crispy but still juicy. For our entree we went with the chicken with mashed potatoes. I had broccolini as my side and she chose spinach. Final round was dessert, molten chocolate cake & peach cobbler. The kitchen brought our dessert out like 2 mins after our entrees arrived. That was odd considering they were both warm desserts served with ice cream. After our server came by to check on us he gladly replaced them with no issue. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD!! AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE Side note the server made me a custom mock-tail that was both delicious and beautiful.

Wow, wow, wow! We were all truly impressed with this restaurant, the food and the amazing service by Victoria is top shelf! It is a Black-owned restaurant. The R&B music was great. I love how the restaurant looks. We were looking for a good restaurant to dine at after a long day of airline delays and long lines at the car rental company. We decided to stop by and try out this place. We were happy with our choice to dine here. Everything that came out of the kitchen was delicious and piping hot. My sisters and friends decided to order all of the appetizers from the happy hour menu to try them all. I opted to order a meal from the dinner menu. I ordered the Fannie Mae chicken dinner which came with 4 pieces of buttermilk fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, collard greens, Texas toast and a pickled pepper. Oh my goodness, I didn't want my dining experience to end at Upper Kirby Bistro. This was the perfect way to jumpstart our weekend! Shoutout to the chef/chefs that are definitely on point in the kitchen! Thank you to the owners for amazing food and service. I will definitely be back when I visit Houston again.

First time at Upper Kirby Bistro place is nice it had a jazz vibe to it. It was not busy I heard it gets busy. The staff was really nice very attentive to the guest. The mimosa was ok I dont like dry champagne. The oxtail and grits were good I would rate it 7/10 the oxtails were very fatty and the grits didnt have the type of loving I needed. I had to doctor them up. All and all the place is cool I shall return.

Saw on social media that they were having a $6 special on frozen drinks during the month of July with a provided code so I inquired about it with our server. The sever was confused but said she would ask about it and she came back with the drink that I asked for. When she brought the check, the drink was showing regular price so I brought it to her attention and it was corrected. The crispy Asian shrimp was very good but too expensive, only 4 shrimp for $26. It was a nice place to try but I don't think I will go back again.

While in Houston visiting, I looked for several restaurants that I thought would be good to try that wouldn't disappoint. Upper Kirby Bistro was one that didn't come close to disappointing. They scored high marks. I met with a friend in the mid morning before the brunch crowd proper showed up. I started with a watermelon mimosa that was not only refreshing, but was also just a plus for something different. For starters, we shared the biscuits with gravy. Although they were delicious, there was a faint smoky flavor to them that I detected. There wasn't enough sausage in the gravy to add any kind of smoke, so I was curious as to what it was that made the gravy smoky. My friend ordered the fried catfish and grits, and she ate it all in silence and without complaint. That was all I needed to know that the catfish and grits were delicious. I had oxtails with grits and greens. My inner Jamaican loved the oxtails and my inner Southern totally approved of the grits and flavorful greens. Service is top. I can't say enough about how pleasant our server was. One thing to note is that parking in the area may be come a bit much. Having arrived for a 10:15 AM seating, I could easily get a spot across the street. However, by the time we were leaving around noon, the crowd was coming in and parking along the street was lessening. They have valet, though, but warning just in case you decide to go late in the day when the restaurant packs out. I know I will go back when I'm in town again. It will still be for the earliest seating.

It's unfortunate the review is so low. We hosted a HNOMA (National Organization of Minority Architects - Houston) event here a few years ago. It was my first time and really enjoyed the fellowship. Since then, I've come for a couple of work lunches and it's always been a pleasant dining experience. Our office frequently orders here for lunch-n-learns and it's always a big hit! Today we wanted to support a black-owned business for Juneteenth and ordered food to-go. Alicia was sweet, attentive (greeted us right when we came in), and made an expresso martini while we waited for our order. Yummy! Thank youuu!

We came here for a birthday brunch. The service was horrible. From start to the end. The food is great but the rest makes the experience not wanting us to come back.. Not sure if the place was short staff. Part of the party was not even able to order food or drinks because the server wouldn't come around to check on us. It's was such a bad experience everything took too long and the sitting was bad small tables and just such slow service. read more

Bland food, unseasoned chicken. Poor planning in accommodating patrons. My waffles were cold and obviously made in advance. Too hot with no proper AC circulation. $9 for the small side of greens. Menu advertised on website was not what was offered. Randomly, the restaurant decided on a preset menu. Ran out of ox tails for a full serving, but you could get a smaller portion from the Soul Food plate. Another waitress came to our table to ask for our carafes back because "it's busy right now". Not worth the price for the service and food. A lackluster dining experience. read more

This is not a place that I will be returning to. However, let's start with the positives! The DJ was fantastic! Five stars for him. Also the drinks were very good. Unfortunately, the service and the food was not. We had a reservation for a party of two, upon arrival the hostess said there was not a space for us but they were working on getting a table together. After about 10 minutes we were seated in the Peacock room. After another 10 minutes the bartender came to our table to see if we had been helped and we explained that we had not. He took our drink orders and our food order. The food took almost an hour to arrive to our table and was not worth the wait. I had the oxtails, grits, and collard greens. The greens were very good, but the texture of the oxtails was very tough and did not pair well with the flavor of the grits. Our waiter/bartender seemed to be very hard-working but it's too crowded to be short-staffed. Everything took exceedingly long from waiting for the food to arrive to waiting to pay. The atmosphere is also dimly lit for a brunch, and the tables were sticky. Finally, valet, if you regularly dine in the upper Kirby area I'm sure you are familiar with standard valet rates. $20 is a lot to valet at an establishment that is not high caliber. read more

Service was amazing. Oxtail and grits were so good! I would definitely come again and order that dish. Grits were creamy. Greens were flavorful. I didn't even ask for hot sauce! They provided big chunky oxtail pieces. I asked for extra gravy because my friend recommended it. I got a side of cornbread muffins but didn't taste the jalapeño, and thought the cornbread was too dense/ flour heavy. I like my cornbread to be more cornmeal forward. However, this was the second place in Houston that had dense cornbread, so it might be the norm there. That's just not how we do it in atlanta! I also had the henny peach frozen drink. The food was okay but the service was lacking. The young lady that served us had multiple tables but did not know how to manage them. Asked several times for the same item and drink refills were nonexistent. Two of us ordered the oxtail with grits and shrimp and grits. Grits were supposed to be cheesy grits, they were far from cheesy. Very bland and disappointing. Only good thing ordered at our table was the chicken and waffles. read more

Ambiance was really nice. They have cute little rooms that have a different theme as well as a nice patio area. Lemon Drop was the best thing I had but the food wasn't great. I ordered the fried chicken plate. Greens were tasty, mashed potatoes had good flavor. The chicken wasn't that great, it was very bland and rubbery. I decided to wait until I got to my hotel to warm it up and to my surprise I discovered that it was not cooked. For this to be an upscale establishment that was not okay. Houston has many food options so the next time I'm visiting from California I will definitely skip this place. read more

This is an ok spot. It's small like a bistro. Came for Sunday brunch on Valentine's Day right before that awful winter storm. I only got the chicken and waffles which was ok. Not sure if I'll return though. I'm thinking I should just to try other items on the menu and go during none brunch time. read more

I went to UKB on a Friday night with 3 of my girlfriends around 9:30pm. We were sat immediately and the bhost (Amy, I believe) was really friendly. My server, Kerm, was friendly, attentive, and informative. We'd ask her about the drinks, appetizers, and etc and she gave really valuable and helpful information. I got the creole salmon and it was amazing!!! The Brussels sprouts were also good! A friend of mine got a few sides and enjoyed them! Everyone pretty much enjoyed their food, the drinks, and the service. There's 4 additional areas that you can patronize throughout the establishment - a cigar lounge, live music spot, an elegant dining area, and a dimly lit bar area. I never visited the ladies room, so I can't leave any comment there. There was street parking (which kind of sucks) and valet for $20 (Friday night, unsure about the other nights). Definitely recommend checking them out! read more

Upper Kirby Bistro is amazing - every bite tastier than the next - we had fried chicken bites, the burger, and crinkle truffle fries (wish they'd been frites) and bread pudding - can't wait to come back and try the gumbo, oxtails and grits, and jazz brunch! Best food. Best value. Beat Service. Market rate prices. I am always prepared to pay more than a meal is worth, pay for mediocre taste and a smaller portion than I want. This place was surprisingly a wonderful experience. Great tasting food. Awesome service and a lot more food than what I expected. I got what I wanted not what I expected. I had the fish and grits with oxtail gravy-- Lawwddd... y'all.... Here me.... better than good. My Son had a meal with a little of everything and the oxtails rivaled my daughters. Understand that That's a hard statement to make. Parking is a nightmare. But I recommend visiting! read more

Ok, first of all, the food OMG, the food was amazing it actually made my visit worth it. We ordered the fried chicken and pork chop plate.. The season was like it came from the kitchen fabulous. Whoever is in the kitchen and needs a raise. Now the reason for the 3 stars instead of the 5 is this. I valet parked.. he told me to be sage so I would get towed. I got there at 7: 19 for my 7: 30 reservation. I asked them where could I park, and he told me to valet for $20. They parked my truck on the street less than 20 steps from the front door and charged me $20 for parking..out of line. This experience showed me just how evil ppl can be. Never again. I could have parked myself for free. So just be watchful of the parking situation and ppl that was horrible. If this establishment allows that it's crazy. read more

This place was exceptionally good taste wise, well at least my food was. Some of my party may beg to differ. Starting, the parking is crazy & valet was full which kind of excited me because it must be a great spot to be so popular. They seated me & my party of 5 kind of secluded, I guess in the back dessert bar which sucked because there was no music or anything back there. Our food didn't take too long to come out and it came out hot and fresh. My only complaint was the knats in our mimosas. But the owner, a nice man may I add, acted quickly by replacing it and not charging up for the carafe. I have been counting down the days to go back! Really impressed. read more

Service was extremely slow! A party of 3 with reservations were not seated till 40 mins after the time and once we were seated it still was 20 mins and no service. Not even a glass of water. No waiter ever even knowledge us. I was so very disappointed in the my experience. As of now I can't say if or when I will be back. The food looked delicious wish I could have tasted it! read more

The food was good however, I also ordered the soul food plate and when we received it my food was cold. Even though it was cold it was good but it was too busy to wait for them to warm it up. Our waitress had forgot about our mimosas and we received it was after we had received our food. I give it a 4 stars because of the service. But I'm willing to try it again. read more

I've been wanting to check out Upper Kirby Bistro for a few months and finally got to it! I love the ambiance of the venue. I love the concept of different rooms and the upscale Crowd that serves it's purpose ... I can definitely see myself dining out, happy hour, or enjoying the live music. It is a beautiful atmosphere ! But I must say, I was not impressed with their brunch . I believe I had the shrimp and grits or catfish and grits. I ate my food in 5 mins ... not because I was hungry but it was not enough food for brunch. My food was gone so quick that I forgot to take a picture That afternoon, I found myself at Juicy crawfish ordering 2 lbs of crawfish and potatoes. I must say, I was satisfied. When returning to Upper Kirby Bistro, I will make an attempt to try their dinner instead, so that is what I will do and live music; I'll report back soon ! read more

I'm going to give this place one more try. The service was horrible... and it took us over 45 mins to even be noticed and taken care of. The patio is amazing and has plenty of potential. The food was ok, and we waited an hour for it to arrive. When it did arrive it was cold. I will try and give this place another try, but first go round I was not impressed. Let's not mention the high $40 hookah, where no one came to make sure the hookah hadn't gone out.. or we needed a refill. read more

Literally loved this place our server was awesome we went on a Thursday and I can admit we were very very needy. Outside Patio was closed due to not too many people wanting to be outdoors but our server made it happen. We did have a mishap with a glass table shattering and unfortunately no management came to check on our well-being but the server David went above and beyond to create the experience we were looking for. I really enjoyed this place. The food was really good. My friend and I both got the grits but she got oxtail and I got the catfish. The catfish was decent , I think the cornmeal they fried it in was just too much for me personally but those oxtails .. wow fire. I literally wanted her meal. We also got the mimosa tower, and it was cool but we drank the majority of it and weren't really drunk .. mind it was only 2 of us. I enjoyed it but could've been better. A very interesting and intellectual hub for minds advanced at getting ahead. Food is incredibly alluring. Could use 4 Star chef in the line- up to solidify the team tenure. There is a 19 year old beautiful goddess there , that is the pinnacle of what customer service is. She probably won't remember me but she should give training to the the world on the act of true kindness and servitude. My fiancé and I was recommended by a friend about this place. Starting out I thought it was going to be hard getting a seat. Luckily we sat at the bar and the Bartender Reese she was amazing. I enjoyed her personality and also her customer service. We both had Chicken & waffles which was fresh and also good the food didn't take long. The only thing I didn't too much care for was the collard greens they wasn't as flavorful as I would of like them and also there were huge stems that could of been chop. read more

Went in for a birthday event, Elijah, the waiter was wonderful and helped us with everything. I ordered the pasta but it was bland and had way too many tomatoes and jalapeños than the shrimp. I only had like 3 pcs of shrimp. 6.5/10. Then the lobster bisque, they had to check if there were any left. when it was brought out to me, they brought it out, However, they only gave me a few crumbs of lobster but overall taste was okay. 3/10. Okay so let me start this off with saying.. don't go here if you don't have any money! Lol and I only say that because this place can run up a bill easily. It's kind of tucked away and the street was full of cars so we payed for valet through the restaurant which was $20 but if you drive a street over there's free parking. (We asked but we're told there wasn't by valet) we had a party of 11 birthday and we were seated immediately in a private room. It was very nicely decorated and we enjoyed the tv with music as an added touch. Our server did not tell us his name however he worked pretty well with the size of the crowd. My appetizer was forgotten but they got it out quickly after we received our food. I had the lamb chops I wouldn't order it next time for $48 I was expecting something different but this was not it. We had 3 shots at the bar and were charged for double shots but weren't asked if we wanted doubles. They did however bring us complementary champagne for us to toast and that was very nice. Overall this place plays good music, food has great flavor, and a grass wall with a neon sign to take photos with. read more

We came for an early dinner & drinks (5:30) and had such a great time. The apps looked so good, we wanted them all! We ended up getting Thai curry wings, crispy brussel sprouts, greens & artichoke dip, ahi Tuna wonton chips, spicy crispy shrimp & seafood cakes. My only complaint was that I should have ordered two orders of the wings! I love good chicken wings and these were the best I've ever had - finger lickin' good! If you don't like cilantro, be warned that the tuna nachos were covered in it. Writing this a day later makes me want to go back now and get more. They do a fantastic job with social distancing, the server was so sweet and the location is great. Plenty of street parking and also a valet. read more

She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. It was good and I had enough leftover to take home for another meal. I also tried the cauliflower wings. Parking can be tough, though, since the lot is shared with a couple of other restaurants. That said, this recent visit was overshadowed by what was easily the most awkward and least customer-focused service experience I've had here. I was dining with a group of friends, and one friend ordered a meal to eat there along with another item to go. There was a little confusion when the order was placed, but we thought everything had been clarified. When the food arrived, both items were served on plates for the table. We politely explained that one of them was supposed to be a to-go order. It turned out the server had entered an additional order and believed we wanted both items for the table. What bothered me wasn't the mistake itself--those happen. It was the response. There was no apology, and instead we were told the misunderstanding was due to how we had communicated the order. We decided to keep all the food and move on, but the interaction felt unnecessarily defensive. I came a little late and was looking at the menu and asked whether they still had the fried eggplant dish that had been on the menu before. The response was simply, "No." No explanation, no follow-up, just an awkward silence. It set the tone for the rest of the interaction. So I decided to let her know I'll continue to look. This response was so uncomfortable that I later decided not to order anything at all. At one point, the server mentioned she had overheard us talking about having a "crazy weekend" and seemed to use that as an explanation for the earlier confusion. Whether there was miscommunication on both sides or not, the overall experience felt unnecessarily tense. I've typically had wonderful experiences here, which is why this visit stood out so much. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are still reasons I'd come back, but please avoid assigning Naya to customers if she's not willing to be a bit more cordial.

Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston?…read more After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. I think when things get popular, sometimes we feel the need to be contrarians with our experiences. That wasn't the case for me. Nancy's Hustle has earned its popularity and I'll definitely be back

The front hostess, Annabella, was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel valued from the start. Our waiter was equally amazing and attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring we had a wonderful evening. We started with the deviled eggs and crab beignets, both of which were absolutely delicious. Their French onion soup was hearty. Drinks were fabulous too. For our meal, we ordered the mashed potatoes, cacio e pepe, pork schnitzel, blackened fish, miso fish, and burger, and every dish was perfectly prepared and packed with flavor. The restaurant went above and beyond by surprising my mother-in-law with a birthday dessert (upon my request when I had originally booked it), which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more memorable. We also enjoyed the pecan ball and chocolate soufflé, and both were outstanding. Between the incredible food, impeccable service, and special attention to our celebration, State of Grace exceeded all expectations. Annabella, our waiter, and the entire staff made the evening feel truly special. Easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in Houston, and we can't wait to return! The butter burger sliders were good. Just would like it thicker as it's too much bun. The cookie on the way out was so awesome, I almost went back in to grab another. Gingerbread I think. Avery was a wonderful bartender and kept up with entertaining conversations and was attentive to all service needs. Tried the g4 tequila reposado and it was very easy drinking.

The restaurant is connected to one of the main parking garages. The first two hours are free which is convenient. It has a more casual feel because of the counter service setup. I like that they have a large menu. We visited on a Sunday afternoon which meant we had the option to order from the brunch menu. The dining area is a good size and they also have a nice patio which is where we sat. The staff was nice, but they were slow at times. The biggest issue was with the food. I ordered the Chicken Tenders which came with Fries and Honey Slaw. I also ordered a side of Broccoli. The Fries and Broccoli were cold while the Cole Slaw was too salty for my taste preference. The Chicken Tenders and dipping sauces (Cayenne Ranch and Honey Mustard) were tasty. One of my dining companions sent some of her food back because it was also served cold. One of the employees was going to reheat her food, and she had to ask for a new order to be brought out (which they reluctantly did). For my beverage I had the Blueberry Spritz which is a mocktail. It was very good and refreshing, but took quite a while to be brought to the table. The staff was nice enough to grab extra napkins and utensils for us when we asked which was very nice of them to do. Maybe it was just an off day for the staff and hopefully they have fixed the issue with serving cold food that is meant to be served hot. I'll wait a little while longer before returning.

We had a problem, a manager ? Came to help then left and said they would talk to the manager. Comes back and did not help us in any kind of way. It's so loud the servers can't hear.
