This is my go to cafeteria style home cooked meal. Every time I order from here it's consistent and delicious. The tomato soup is awesome, and any of the steak you get is cooked perfectly. I currently have a newborn at home and my people asked to buy me dinner I just tell them to order from here. Urban Plates is like a child conceived from the marriage of nearby Lemonade and Tender Greens, with some notable differences. Pros: Quality ingredients, large portions, visually appealing, variety, reasonable pricing. Cons: Strange or bland flavors, recipes and preparation not as enticing as T.G. Or Lemonade. Frankly, I was not a fan of any of the flavors--or lack thereof--in their entrees and sides. The Brussels sprouts were too bitter, the roasted potatoes too bland, the steak seasoning off, the roasted bread blah and the "chimichurri aioli" was an awful, over-lemony mess. In my opinion, similar items taste much better at T.G. and Lemonade. On the other hand, people who are on low-sodium or plainer diets may prefer the preparations at Urban Plates. I would take fewer choices for better tasting ones all the time. When I ordered steak, I was never asked how I liked it cooked. Instead, I got a serving of barely warm rare to medium-rare steak. They had an abundance of people working, albeit not all were necessarily providing much service. I asked a worker, not doing much, to help find a table for my family in the crowded and busy restaurant. He responded by pointing to the open room: "Sit anywhere you'd like". Well thanks... I forgot this was one of those self-service/no-service places. "Why did I add a tip to the total?" I asked myself. Although I don't consider it bad service, he really could have just helped and made me feel a lot better about Urban Plates. read more

Let me tell y'all about Urban Plates!! I have ordered and ate this place countless times. I have yet to order something on the menu that I did not enjoy. My go-to plate is the 3 Tender Plate (Buffalo sauce) with Basmati Rice Pilaf and Side Caesar Salad. And when I'm feeling fancy I get the Sea Bass with the sweet potatoes & Tomato Basil Soup.
