Called at 3pm to see if reservations were needed-m for a Saturday night-server recommended so made reservations for 5pm. If you go early no reservations are needed as place wasn't busy on a Saturday night around 5pm-6:30pm when we were there. Was seated quick and orders for appetizers as well as drinks were taken fast and brought out quick as well. The place is older and a bit run down but don't sleep on the food. Calamari, seafood Cesar, gluten free shrimp scampi, and chicken piccata were all amazing. Recommend for good food. If your looking for atmosphere-go somewhere else. This restaurant is a "Go To" in Bakersfield! The food is delicious. We went there twice in 3 days and tried something different each time. I highly recommend the piccata and ravioli, the manicotti, and the Chicken and Sausage alla Nick!! My friend got the gluten free gnocchi and they loved it. The dinner salads are great too and there is a lot of options. The service is the best, and most accommodating I've ever had. We made reservations for a large group then a few got ill and didn't come so we moved to a smaller table. Then another group called saying they'd like to join us and they moved us to a bigger table with smiles and hospitality like no other. I'm serious when I say that's above and beyond good service. Can't believe I've never heard of this place. We had a reservation so we were seated and then moved to another table for an unknown reason, but seated when we came in. The atmosphere was chill and quiet when we first arrived with Halloween decor and lights. Staff was super friendly but it did take us over 45 minutes to get our main course food which some of our party had to get boxed up because it was so late. Very disappointed in the wait time, we definitely felt forgotten and watched other tables that seated after us get there food and desserts before we had our main. The food, when it did arrive was super delicious and cooked perfectly. I hate not being able to give five stars but it is what it is. Very disappointing! Our server was very overwhelmed with a large party which carried over to our table and the rest she was handling. We went three times during the appetizer, salads, and dinner that our water and tea glasses sat empty for five to ten minutes. We asked for bread and was told they had ran out but then a few minutes later they brought bread to the large party table. The Sanddabs that are usually wonderful were under cooked and soggy. After years and years of trying to make my way to Uricchio's Trattoria, I finally made it. So, my husband and I decided we'd celebrate our 19th year wedding anniversary dinner here and the setting is nice. It's a small setup with about 10-15 tables inside and about the same amount of seating on the outside. As soon as we got there, we were asked if we had a reservation and we did not; however, we were seated quickly. We were seated on a table that was in an uncomfortable area. The reason why I say that is because the area we were in was in a high traffic area and servers kept bumping my chair, then the seats felt uncomfortable. I wasn't a big fan of their chairs either, it felt really uncomfortable and flimsy. Not bad looking at all, just uncomfortable for me. We were then given some delicious home made bread; however I felt like it was just handed to us straight from the pantry. Usually when we go to an Italian restaurant the bread is warm and it was given to us like it was just straight from the pantry. Then the butter was not even room temperature and served out of the fridge, so we had to eat a butter sandwich. I'm not knocking this place at all, I'm just giving you a look at my experience. The bread tasted delicious and you can tell it was homemade, but it would have probably been better if it was served warm w soft butter. We ordered the crab cake appetizer which was the highlight of my dinner there. I absolutely love seafood, so it was perfect and amazing. It was served hot and fresh. For my dinner entree, I ordered the lobster ravioli which tasted amazing, just not served hot. It was cold when it made its way to my table. My husband ordered a Lasagna Bolognese which he thought was also amazing yet served room temperature. Our server was fantastic and was on top of it; however we weren't even finished w our meal and he tossed my husband's Lasagna Bolognese. We still tipped him nicely for doing a great job, but the experience was a bit disappointing in all. So I figured, let me fix this dinner mishap w dessert and I got their creme brûlée cheesecake and it's not for me. The texture of the cheesecake was thick like mashed potatoes thick, when I think of cheese cake it's smooth. It can be thick or thin... just smooth. It tasted good, but the texture for me was not for me. I really don't think we will make it back out here, but the service is top notch. Workers all look happy, staff stop by to make sure you're being taken care of. This place looks like the workers love it. I even saw servers talking to people who seem like regulars here, so I know it's a fantastic place, I just don't think it's for me. This is a great little restaurant in downtown Bakersfield. The lighting is romantic, but also works well for a Business lunch or a family dinner. The staff is always very friendly and professional. Frugattis is a great place to eat, but often times the staff feels like a bunch of high school and college kids that are just having a good time (I actually see nothing wrong with this, but I wanted to point out the difference with Uricchios) and Uricchios always seems like professional staff that takes their job very seriously. Saturday night trying to pick a place for dinner we remembered a friend had suggested this place so we went for it. We got there and it was packed. When I say pack I mean it, PACKED! The hostess graciously asked if we had a reservation we replied nope so she told us it was going to be a 30-40 minute wait, we were ok with that. We decided to go walk around. 40 minutes later they called and said were ready for the 6 of us. As soon as we sat down they brought a basket with complimentary bread and butter. Our friends ordered raviolis, chicken Alfredo and my hubby and I ordered the penne paste alla pesto but we ordered it with angel hair pasta instead of the penne pasta. I've eaten pesto a bunch of times and omg i have to say this is the best I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. The flavor was just perfect. The pesto sauce was not oily at all. The scallops and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The scallops were the bay size ones but it had a good amount of them. The pasta was cook al dente. The portions were great for the price. I also tried my friends chicken Alfredo pasta and it was also excellent. We were full so we got dessert to go. We each picked a different one so we could try them. My favorite hands down were the brûlée cheesecake and the lemon cake. The regular cheesecake with strawberries was alright, nothing extraordinary about it. The brûlée cheesecake wasn't compacted, it was moist and the vanilla bean flavor just hit the spot. The lemon cake was also delicious, very moist and flavorful. One of our friends ordered a Long Island drink and said it was the best Long Island drink he's ever had. Our waitress was Penelope. She was funny and very helpful. She kept coming back with the bread lol. Our water and soda glasses were never empty. The parking is always a pain in the butt in downtown Bakersfield however, it will be well worth the pain to look for one lol. I think I came at a bad time or maybe an off day. We made reservations for a Saturday at 6 pm for two. We sat outside next to heaters. The waitress quickly got us water. But it took about 10 mins for someone to take our order and it took about 20 mins to receive our food. They gave us complimentary cold bread buns with butter. I ordered the Large Shrimp And Sea Scallops Almondine with Angel Hair Pasta and my date ordered the Shrimp Scampi. When I received my pasta, the overcooked Angel hair was drenched in oil. There was no sauce... it was just oil/butter, the seafood over cooked too. I tried my date's shrimp scampi and it had so much capers, the pasta tasted like mayonnaise. I had to sent my Angel hair back but I didn't want to wait for another meal so I shared with my date.. the waitress tried to make it better by giving us a complimentary slice of cheesecake which tasted great! I highly recommend this place if you love authentic Italian food I'm talking grandma's recipes. I am still stuck on my usual, which is the eggplant Parmesan. This was my first time trying this long standing establishment. Can't believe I haven't tried it before. I've had Italian food in Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles and my new favorite pasta dish was found last night in good ole Bakersfield. Food was unbelievable. Fresh and seasoned to perfection. Place was absolutely packed due to proms going on so the kitchen was swamped but that didn't sway the chef's quality one bit. May not have been as fast but the service was still spot on none the less. We sat in the wine room so the atmosphere was very comfortable and inviting for conversation with our friends. Bread was in the table immediately. I hate it when you have to ask or order it separately! It was decent sort of dinner roll style served with butter packs. Ordered a martini with olive to start and it was quite good and in a nice classic wide martini glass with two olives. Second martini came out with no prong and only one olive. Still was a good one but why the variation on the same Exact drink? Ordered the Dover sole with potatoes and vegetables for my main dish. When it came out the fish was only lukewarm. Really weird. Like it had been out of the oven for 10 minutes by the time I got it. It taste great, just would have been better hot. Wish I could give 4.5 stars, but I reserve 5's for those transcendent places where everything is in place. Aside from a few misses, this place would be there. I was driving home from a tattoo appointment and have heard Bakersfield is where it's at for food. uricchios did not disappoint! I was welcomed in and sat at my table. Both the host and server were attentive and got my drink order in right away and bread to the table. Michael was fun and made wonderful recommendations but assured me that whatever I chose, I would enjoy. He let me know about the specials and what items had options for pasta to be added. I went with the crab cakes as an appetizer, and it was amazing! The sauce served with the two cakes was so good I could have liked the plate. The carbonara was velvety and seasoned perfectly, the pasta was al dente. I took most of it home with me because the portions were good-sized. If you are in the area, I highly recommend it. This was our first visit. We sat in the area across from the kitchen. The food was good; my husband and I shared the Chicken piccata which was delicious! Some critiques - The potatoes were cold; they were good, but they were cold. In fact, our dish was not very hot. Secondly, the place needs a good cleaning. The exposed ventilation system was so dirty and dusty, as were the ceiling fans. They looked like they had not been cleaned in a looong time. 7/8/20 I came here for dinner, I ordered the seafood salad and a lobster ravioli. The rating is reflected on the fact that I didn't get my lobster ravioli. I come back the next day as thankfully I am in the area, whereas normally I get food and keep heading further on the road. No phone answers, so I head there, and it's closed with no signage about hours or reason. Just a terrible experience. Wouldn't return here especially since I got charged for something I didn't get. Decent for a large group... I have personally been to Uricchio's four to six times and both for lunch and dinner. This past Saturday night the wife and I were with a party of fifteen celebrating our Daughter-n- laws 40th Birthday party. Our Son made reservations prior and we were all seated very quickly. Their wonderful homemade bread with fresh butter was served shortly after we arrived as were our drink orders. The wife, our Son and all that were present thought the wait staff was impressive to say the least. Drinks, bread and butter were replenished with nobody ever waiting. Below I have listed the pros and cons of this local Italian Restaurant. PROS: 1) Service was impeccable. 2) The clam chowder was the best I have ever had ( sorry Mom ) 3) The bread is fantastic 4) The San Dabs are delicious 5) Table setting and ambiance is wonderful CONS: 1) Wife's Chicken Marsala was less than warm while the veggies were hot 2) Son had the Grenadines of Filet Mignon which I tried and it had no flavor ($36.95) 3) The San Dabs although delicious were less than luke warm 4) Our group used the restrooms on a few occasions. Somewhat of an uncomfortable situation as they are outside in an alley area. Toilet seat in one of the restrooms the toilet seat bolt that holds it down was rusted out which is very dangerous. No toilet butt gaskets and the flooring had urine. At the end of the day this is still a very nice and fine dining location in Bakersfield and I am confident that the owner will address these minor negatives. The restaurant was nice with indoor and outdoor seating. The acoustics were a little better than average and the seating less so being rather uncomfortable. The lighting was a bit dim. The bathrooms were not in the restaurant, you had to slide out the black door and walk across an alley to get to them. When you walk in there is a humongous display case and I was wondering why they didn't get a more vertical one and use the saved space to install in-restaurant bathrooms. The food was quite good. I started with a salad that was crisp, well proportioned and sans browned greens. It was perfectly sized and the salad sort of chopped. The veal parmigiana was smallish but really good with a nice cap of cheese and pleasantly pounded to tender and thoughtfully breaded / cooked veal. When in Bakersfield, do what the Bakerfielders (is that even a thing?) do, right? Well, the folks of Bakersfield go to Uricchio's Trattoria! It's been voted best Italian, most romantic and best business lunches in Bakersfield, at least according to the CultureTrip website. So, I naturally want to try them out! We had reservations and arrived to the reserved parking spaces in front. The interior of the restaurant is dark and there are lots of people all around. What stood out the most is that HUGE FASCIMILE PAINTING OF THE MONA LISA! Nothing says Italian culture and food than the most famous work by Leonardo da Vinci, yes? Haha. Well, having seen the Mona Lisa over and over and over again, I'd say its presence here is just a bit tacky. However, we're just here for the food! LOBSTER BISQUE- This creamy reddish soup was like a tangy sauce of butter and lobster bits. My party finished it all. We were hungry. CAESAR SALAD- This mix of hearts of romaine, croutons, and parmesan cheese was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT. Clearly, it was an excellent salad as the lettuce was fresh and it was just downright tasty. LOBSTER RAVIOLI- There were nine, count them, 9 lobster raviolis that littered about a plate with Nantua sauce. There was a bit of a burnt taste I assume was part of the sauce. CHICKEN PICATTA WITH RAVIOLI ALFREDO- The butter was overwhelming in this scaloppini of chicken in a lemon butter, caper sauce and ravioli in a creamy Alfredo sauce. The pasta seemed well cooked and the chicken was not bad at all. It was just too buttery. FETTUCCINE ALFREDO WITH SHRIMP & BAY SCALLOPS- Lots of creamy sauce in the fettuccine and the pasta was not exactly al dente. However, the scallop and shrimp seemed well cooked. HOUSE CABERNET SAUVIGNON- The $8 glass of house wine was not bad. A bit dry and not too acidic. CREME BRULE CHEESECAKE- The creme brule portion of the cheesecake was quite rich and delicious. Unfortunately the crust was just awful like it came from the freezer section of the supermarket. Totally bland, no crispiness to the crust and just like eating cardboard. It's all good if you avoid the crust! The service was pretty good. Our server seemed to disappear as we waited patiently to ask for the check but otherwise a pretty good experience. Would we come here again? Probably not, but with the dearth of good food options in Bakersfield, you may never know. read more

Uricchio's has been a family-owned staple for multitudes of years. Menu has tender pasta and succulent meat and seafood dishes. Your meal will begin on a very high note. Lunches and evenings can get busy. We got there early on a Thursday and were happy to be taken care of quickly. Linguine w/chicken with a substitute of white clam sauce was a winner, as was the side order meatball w/extra sauce and a house salad won raves. Unfortunately they were out of coconut cake, but the carrot cake and tiramisu were a good ending to a birthday lunch celebration.
