I have never felt sicker after eating fish in my entire life. I eat a lot of Ahi Poki and when I saw this I got excited about the different options. 20 minutes later I regret coming here. I'm not sure if it was the spicy mayo, the "base sauce", or the fish that wasn't fresh but I literally feel like throwing up. I am disappointed that I lost $12 to this establishment. I love this place! You get fresh fish for a great price and always very quickly, they also have other protein options like edamame and tofu. Best "fast food" in the area that won't kill your gut. Food is super yummy, its like a Japanese fast food place almost. It reminded me almost of the Japanese version of Subway, so I liked the style of it. They give very good portions of food which is good because I love all the goodies they add to each bowl of food. It's a whole in the wall type of place. I come here a lot for weekday lunch with my coworkers. Fish is always fresh and portions are good sizes. Pros - a lot of free toppings like crab and avocado. Decided to try out this new spot. Parking is small and limited I am only assuming it was packed on a Sunday because The Halal Guys just opened as well across the way so they probably used a lot of the spaces at this lot. Anyway, I didn't expect for this place to be chipotle-esqe. I ended up ordering a medium size bowl and you can choose between chips, white or brown rice, half and half, salad or a wrap ( I think those are all the options that you can have). With a medium bowl, you can choose up to 3 items of proetin, I opted for the tuna, yellowtail and salmon. Once you pick your items you can add sides, I chose everything which gave you onions, cucumbers, avocado, and crab meat. If came back, I don't think I would choose to get the crab meat, I just wasn't a fan. All the sides and the protein are added into a separate bowl so that in their second to final step, you can choose a variety of sauces so they merry your protein and sides together (I chose the spicy miso and medium). I think with the sauces, I would ask them to go easy on the pumps. It was a little too saucy for me. And finally, the end product, they throw your sides and proteins on top of your base and ask if you would like to add any additional toppings. I would definitely come back again, a cool spot to pick something up quick thats light on the stomach and easy on the wallet. Oh, don't forget to check in on Yelp, you can get a free drink! Uroko Cafe is my go to poke place since I'm a UCI student. Not too far and it's easy to find parking in their lot! The main dining area is also huge with plenty of seating unlike other popular poke places (cough pokinometry). I like how they have more seasonings available and the fish is still good quality. Overall, portion size is great for the price and I always get full off of a medium, which includes 3 scoops of fish. Sometimes I come here after struggling to find parking in the neighboring plaza with halal guys and anjin. read more

Solid, not spectacular. I like Calipoke down the street more. Mostly because you have to pay extra for seaweed salad here. The benefits of this spot are: very clean, and very large space. Well i finally got to try this place after its been open for months and i must say i was pretty disappointed. Im a big fan of poke and this place just wasn't vibing me. It had fresh ingredients but the employees dont know what they are doing. I came here and asked them what was good on the menu and the employee said that she doesn't know because she doesn't eat fish...... Are you effing kidding me???? Why does she even work there? And then i asked someone else if they had anything gluten free on the menu and they said "I DONT KNOW." What kind of employees are they hiring?!!! To be honest the owner is actually pretty cool but she is horrible at hiring people to work for her. Before she opened Uroko, she used to run a restaurant called Chaya in the same spot which served amazing japanese food but then she decided to close it down because from what i hear she heard from one of her friends that own a poke spot was making tons of money, so she wanted to change up the restaurant and sell poke instead of japanese food which in my opinion was a horrible mistake. Chaya was a great place to eat. It had a HUGE menu and everything was beyond tasty. Im sad that she opened this poke spot because not only were the employees annoying and dumb as rocks but the food was also very average. I rather go across the street to North Shore poke. read more

The fish is not up to my standard for sushi quality seafood, and even the rice here is hit and miss. I've had a couple bowls where the rice was overly firm and lacking flavor. This place definitely satisfies my cravings for poke bowls and much closer to me than pokinometry. I would say that it's not as good because they definitely drained my bowl with sauce. This Mya be due to the new workers. They also ran out of white rice but when I ordered another bowl, they apparently only had white rice for a small.... and there was this worker that gave me a lot of attitude which I didn't enjoy. It just opened so it's empty right now, the parking lot is much bigger than pokinometry, and there's more space in the restaurant. I prefer pokinometry at the moment, but this is closer to UCI. Do not eat here!!! Their fish is NOT fresh! I brought my mom here because I read such good reviews about this place, and she is pretty much a fish expert LOL Before even getting her bowl, just by looking at it we both noticed the fish didnt seem all that fresh. The shape was off and the coloration, but we continued. It came out to $20 for both of our bowls. We sat down and after a few bites of the fish my mom told me that the fish is not fresh and has been refrozen maybe 2 times already. We decided to let the girl at the register know and the crazy thing is, when my mom told her the fish wasnt fresh the girl came to grab the bowls and didnt even say anything or defend it because she KNOWS what goes on back there, and even I tasted it that the fish definitely has been refrozen, also it kind of melts and falls apart in your mouth, which it's not supposed to do!. And thats taken very seriously bc the bacteria that grows in refrozen fish can really make u sick as fuqqq SO anyone going here, think twice about the fish, they DO refreeze it and it is NOT fresh fish. We got a refund and ended up going to Calipoke, which never disappoints!! read more

Food is fresh, abundant, and well-priced. I ordered a medium bowl with 3 proteins over mixed greens. The service was quick and friendly, and when they found out it was my first time, they were eager to help me have a great introduction to Uroki cafe and the food. Their poke bowls are pretty bomb! They're really generous with their fish scoops, and if some fish fell off the first scoop, then they'll add some more for you. Their fish is also pretty fresh, and they have eel as one of the protein options, which is pretty rare. One thing that might be considered as a drawback is that the fountain drinks they have now is not your average sodas, but some brand-name ones that tastes less than satisfying. However, other than that, this Poke bowl place is definitely worth checking out. read more

It's wonderful to have a fast and healthy place, where my kids won't mind eating fish. The poke bowls here are more than a full meal's worth, and it's great that you can customize the different items you want. The salmon is terrific and I usually throw in avocado and cucumbers. My kids don't usually like seafood but they enjoy it here, especially when I get them the garlic chips and miso soup. read more

Out of all of the poke places I've been to in OC this is my favorite. I go here more times a week than is probably healthy, but I don't care. I eat a lot of food and the large bowl always fills me up. I never leave hungry. They have a nice assortment of proteins to add your bowl, and their spicy tuna actually is spicy, unlike most places I've been. The restaurant is also very clean inside so that's nice too. This place is a much closer option than Pokinometry, and nearly the same quality. Check in for a free soda!! Prices are also similar so I don't have to drive so far for poke bowl anymore! Parking it's a bit hard to find for your first time but it's the turn in right next to Mitsuwa Market . However, there's an obvious difference in staff compared to Pokinometry where everyone is friendly and smiling as mostly everyone at Uroko looks miserable and just stares at you while you order. There was this one employee who was being super stingy on the scoops and you could tell she hated her job; it's not super appetizing to see people throw your salmon into a bowl so angrily LOL. My family was in the Costa Mesa area for a wedding. We had 10 people in our group and we wanted to go somewhere that would at least please most of the group. My daughter found Uroko Cafe being close to our hotel and it had a good rating for the number of people who had participated. It was our first time there. But as you enter, although it was a little empty at the time, you could feel a good vibe. We went straight to a long table in the middle right section of the restaurant to put our things down and headed straight to the girl waiting on the opposite side of the counter. We had gone to other poke places, so as we saw the size of the scoop of rice that was going on "metal" plates, my daughter's eyes met mine with this mysterious look. I've been to other poke places that use round bowls with the rice packed under everything. But, at the end, we all chose 3 proteins. Then as you go down the line to say which toppings you wanted, oh my gosh! You won't believe the quantity! This is great, of course. But it's very rare to see more proteins and toppings than the rice at any poke joint. It ended up being a lot of food! And the ponzu flavoring that I chose was excellent! read more

A coworker and I went to check this place out around 11:15am on a Wednesday - it wasn't crowded when we got there, but it definitely had a crowd when we left, and I could see why. They have a variety of choices, everything was fresh, and it was clean and spacious. My one critique would be that the sauces were a little lacking in flavor. The Uroko sauce seemed as if it had been watered down, and the spicy mayo had no spicy at all. Although it allowed me to taste more of the fish and ingredients, it would have been nice to have a little flavor kick to the bowl. The restaurant is very spacious and clean, I like that they have 2 tables set up for condiments and sauces. There is also plenty of seating, such as booths and tables. Like most of the poke places, its a Chipotle-styled dining. You tell them what size (medium because I like 3 types of fish and I love food) then you add in whatever your heart desires. I don't eat a lot of rice and I'm not a fan of their spring mix salad so I started telling them to just layer the bottom with a little bit of brown rice and cucumbers. The last time I did that, the girl gave me some rude attitude because they were running low on cucumbers and she didn't want to use it all on me. OK?? Are you growing these cucumbers yourself? I'm paying! Load it up!! Their fish and toppings (such as avocado, imitation crab, seaweed salad, garlic chips, ginger, etc) are all very fresh! The service is okay, sometimes I feel like they skimp out on the scoops. Are you raising the fish yourselves? Do you have a personal attachment to the salmon? tuna? Why aren't you giving me my money's worth!! I've also been a victim of careless mixing!! The guy who was mixing my fish and toppings together wasn't paying attention a few pieces of fish fell onto the counter... ok... Lastly, I love ginger and I usually ask for a lot or extra.
