By far the fastest most efficient post office in the entire valley. Postmaster Rob was very courteous to us today. He even left it up and showed us how to use the automated systems so that from now on we can walk in and not have to wait in line. He was very patient and a very charming character. My girlfriend and I had quite a few packages and envelopes to mail out and you helped us every step of the way. There are other guess that needed help as well and he was very willing to multitask and help as many people as he could. The parking situation is a little weird but we all adapt. A great post office in a great neighborhood, definitely worth going here any day over another USPS! Line situation should also be addressed, it's very on organized sometimes and you never really know who is waiting in line. This place would go out of business in one day if it weren't the government ran business. The service is horrible, the place is dirty, and they employ Laura. I live in Tarzana and since we moved in we have been getting a note from the postwoman that she will not derive the mail unless we park 6 feet away from the mail box. As a respect we have been doing it. We also have pool guy , Gardner and other people that come along during the day and sometimes they park close to the mail box( which is out of our control) . 2 days ago I received a notice that going forward I have to park at least 12 feet to the mail box or I wont get my mails. This lady refuse to leave the cart and only way she drops the mail is from the cart. I called the 800 number, after 50 min of waiting I was told that there is no such a policy and her job is to deliver the mail. The opened a case and ask me to call her manager. I called and the phone rang at least 20 times before it was picked up, Marvin Pienda came to the phone and was so uncooperative and unhelpful that made me wonder why the post lady is so lazy to leave the cart and deliver the mail. I don't have an issue with this place. I use the automated postal machine. The only issue I do have is the other customers. I realize that old people have to mail stuff too but seriously they are so rude here. I've been cut off and almost crashed into by more blue hairs here than anywhere else. read more

I express mailed a package that the Post Office tried to deliver, but there was nobody at the shop to receive it. When I checked the package tracking system it indicated my package was "in route" ... for three days! So I called the Post Office and "Rob" (whom I later discovered is the Postmaster) answered my call and immediately investigated my complaint. He called me the next business day to inform me that the package had been located and that it would be delivered within 15 minutes. I was impressed to discover that the package was delivered as promised. This is my first Yelp review ever, but Rob's outstanding customer service skills and diligence deserved to be acknowledged. I'm at the Tarzana Post Office pretty much everyday. This location has been through a few changes in the past and is probably one of the best post offices now. The staff is welcoming and because the clerks have been there so long they know how to get things done quickly with a smile. The new post master Rob so helpful and always has a smile on his face. He's wants to help you and get you taken care of. Sometimes the lines are long which can be annoying but there are 2 self service machines which can make the experience faster as most post offices only have 1 machine. Most of the people who come to this post office are very friendly and willing to help new-be's on the self serve machine. Love the Tarzana Post office read more

This location is only OK. The only true benefit is that it is not a very well known location, so it's not very crowded. BUT, the staff truly moves very slowly, and doesn't really seem to interested in moving the line swiftly. They do have a good stock of the priority mail supplies in the lobby- which is great. Also, you can avoid the line by using the lobby machine, which, since its not a crowded location, is always available. read more

Does anyone know the name of the Postmaster for Tarzana? I have been using this post office without problems for 9 years until recently. I don't know if it was a new carrier or what. I ordered two packages that didn't come and when I tracked them it said that they were delivered. I called the post office and the supervisor said that she would look into it. She called back to say that she spoke to the carrier and he said that he remembers delivering it to man. I asked "What man? I live alone?" She later called back to say that they have my packages and asked if I want them redelivered or if I want to come pick them up. I decided to pick them up. Well, when I checked my mailbox that evening, my package, a collectible leather bound book from Easton Press was sitting there in the mailbox sans box or packaging and the carrier had written a note directly on the shrinkwrap over the book with black permanent marker! (I specifically bought the book because it was in the shrinkwrap. It's more valuable that way). The marker had also bled through to the leather in a few places. The other book was still in the box and at the post office. It turns out that the carrier had delivered my books to another apartment within my complex, although they were addressed properly, and that my neighbor had opened up the box and had apparently planned on keeping them. The carrier decided to leave me the note directly on the book instead of writing it on a piece of paper to let me know this. WTF?! I brought the book in to the post office to complain. They took a photocopy of the book and my purchase receipt and the supervisor said that she will look into it and let me know how they can remedy it. The supervisor called me back a couple of days later to say that the carrier has decided to reimburse me out of his own pocket and asked if I want to come pick up the moeny order or if they should mail it. Because I had to work, I asked her to mail it to me. I received a postal money order for full payment and thought that everything was resolved. A few days later, after I had already cashed the money order, I received a voicemail from the supervisor of the Post Office stating that wants to file a formal claim after all and asking me to bring in the book. Well, I had already gotten rid of the book and this was not what was agreed upon. A couple of months later I had another package that would not fit in the mailbox so the carrier left a notice for me. I went in on my day off and the clerk at the desk was acting really strange and nervous and she asked me to step aside and had me waiting for a long time. Finally she said that cannot give me my package and that I need to speak to the supervisor, only she isn't there and that I have to come back on Tuesday. I asked her why I need to speak to the supervisor to pick up my own property and she wouldn't answer. I informed her that I cannot and will not come back in on Tuesday when I have to work and that the carrier can just redeliver it and leave it on my porch. I received a final notice a couple weeks later (they never redelivered). I was unable to go in by the deadline so I appointed an authorized agent to pick it up for me. The supervisor was there and she was very mean to my agent. She glared at him and yelled at him and threatened that unless I bring back the damaged book that she will hold all of my future packages and not release them the anyone! Apparently, I have been blacklisted by the whole post office for doing nothing wrong when in fact I am the one who is being wronged in multiple ways. This does not seem legal. I called to file a complaint with customer service thinking that this would go to her boss and they would stop this sort of behavior. I work for another government agency and if I behaved in this manner and illegally withheld a customer's property and threatened them, I would be fired. Well, the complaint did no good. Apparently, they just called her and listened to her side of it and she lied. Someone called and left me a voicemail (while I was in the hosptial I might add) stating that it was agreed that I would bring back the book and I didn't and yet I still expect to receive my packages. What kind of response is this?! Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? read more

Too bad the PO doesn't need to make a profit, or have the ability to fire their employees. ROB NEEDS to be FIRED out of bureaucratic stupidity...he is a moron!!! My local mail carrier needs to be fired out of stupidity also...dummy, stupid, robot. There are 3 addresses on one property, 3 mail boxes...how hard is that to figure out? One person wanted a hold on their mail for 10 days while they were out of town. Mailed an ebay package to a customer at this post office only to find that the item inside had been stolen 30 days later and they could not do anything! I had to give the customer the money back. Don't trust usps services ever. They made me look bad. read more

I don't have a problem with this USPS in particular, they are what all post offices are, understaffed at the counter, kind of bored/unfriendly, but whatever, you know what you're getting into when you go to one. However, I went last Saturday and there was a customer who bought stamps and wasn't given the right amount. So one postal employee goes to the other about the transaction and starts kind of humiliating the older postal employee about how to do the job, repeatedly asking him in a condescending tone, "how do you satisfy the customer" right in front of everyone in line, treating him like a child instead of an employee. I just thought it was tacky and should have been handled away from the customer. read more

I had ordered a package, and when I looked at the tracking information the status was "delivered", but I hadn't received my package! I freaked out and thought I lost it, but contacted the post office and spoke with Marcos (Marco?). He was so helpful, and even came out to my apartment complex to only discover that the package had been delivered to the wrong mailbox. He even called me the following day to make sure I received my package- Great attitude and very helpful! read more

Our postman retired two weeks ago and now new person actually leave packages on ground around mail box. We live on hill and postman always at least walk up hill to put packages away from drive by thefts. So sad when this is so obvious a problem. read more

I have a business that is officed in the 18000 block of Burbank Blvd. in Tarzana, and the recent route change has been a nightmare for us. The new "carrier" is a total joke. We used to consistently get mail @ 11:00 AM +/- everyday. As of 6-7 weeks ago, we are lucky if we get it at all. Mail now arrives (or not) at 2-3:30- ish, which if you're running a business is unacceptable. Mail dictates my day, however with the new carrier it RUINS my day. The guy delivers to the wrong suite daily. He sorts in the hall, has trays all over the place, and when we do get the mail its ALWAYS wrong. But it gets WORSE. On two occaasions in the past week, we caught the guy either holding back mail, or just throwing it back into the system. The current volume is so light, that it is obvious mail is being stashed or thrown away. We recieved one piece that was mailed from our office, but two days later it was delivered back to our office as new, incoming mail. Not only that, my vendors are calling and inquiring if we moved, as checks are being sent back as 'non deliverable' or 'not at this address'. This I can't stand for. I've been to this post office on numerous occasions and the experience is always, more or less, the same. As a rule of thumb I never set my expectations high with any government institute where its employees are given the least bit of power (like the DMV)... With that said the Tarzana post office is usually a pretty slow experience, but mostly due to the lack of adequate staff. As a result it isn't out of the ordinary for packages and supplies not to be stocked; requiring you to wait in line just for a box or skip the entire line, like some of the (rude) customers. For those of you who are in a bind for time, or just plain impatient, there is an automated postal machine in the entrance. Thankfully if you go during the off-peak hours this location is fairly empty. Overall not an awful post office, but certainly not worth it if you have another option. read more

Worst post office ever. Super long lines with only 2 3 people working at most and they look miserable! Every time I have something delivered by them, it goes missing. I called them and they said since it shows as delivered there's nothing that they can do. I had two things delivered today, one by FedEx and one by them, both of them said they were delivered at the same time but the only one that was there was the one from FedEx. Not a lot of people on duty. The woman with the decorated nails, Laura, can be helpful at times but sometimes she's a completely different person. Very long lines and they recently started to lock the mailboxes after closing time and on the weekends. Sooo inconvenient. read more

Do yourself a favor and use UPS or FedEx. My apartment number was left out of a delivery address, I called asking if they would ship the package back to me and I spoke with a man named Rob Garfinkle who claimed to be the post master, not only was he entirely unwilling to help but he was really just an unpleasant person to deal with. He had no sympathy for my situation at all. Not being able to do anything for me is one thing, and to a certain degree I can understand that, but the abysmal customer service is the real reason the United States Postal Service should be out of business. read more

Although I have had some problems in the past with this Post Office branch, they really came through this time. We had an express mail that we needed intercepted and returned. With only moments to spare, they called the PO in Dallas, TX, intercepted the package and returned it to us. They acted quick and precisely saving us several thousand dollars. We have used this branch for 20 years and find most of the staff to be very helpful and courteous. They do have long lines on occasion, however, it usually moves pretty quick. Overall, I would say that this branch is a great local branch and they provide us with great service at the counter, and the carrier, Greg, is super friendly. read more

I drive out of my way to this post office because it's much better than my post office off White Oak Ave. I warn everyone, "do not go to the White Oak post office." But, this one is great! OMG!!!! I know the post office is known for having disgruntled workers, but...i received the worst customer service ever from this Tarzana Post Office. I went to pick up a couple of packages held at the post office today January 18th 2014. The attendant helping the gentleman in front of me was ridiculously rude to him, because he came to pick up mail that he said was not delivered when he was out of town. She rudely told him, and with an attitude..."You gonna have to contact the sender of your packages, because we obviously delivered it". She was equally as rude to me..She looks at me and asks me what I needed. I told her I needed to pick up my packages. Again with attitude and rudeness she says "You need to be in this line" pointing to the man in front of me. She went to get my packages, I asked this other lady if she was a supervisor, cause i needed to make a complaint. Well...that lady obviously drank from the same cup of bad coffee that the first lady who was helping me drank from. As a matter of fact, she was even more rude. She told me that the lady(which i didn't see her name because her name tag wasn't visible) who was helping me "Was" the supervisor. I asked her if that lady had a supervisor, she proceeded to raise her voice and say, "No she is the only one" then mumbled something and cut her eyes at me!!! From reading the other bad reviews I think the "Supervisor's" name may have been Diane, because i read in one review of a manager at that same office named Diane being rude and hanging up on someone. This is the worst post office location i have ever had the pleasure of visiting, and i pray that i don't have to go there anymore.. read more

Have been coming to this location for years... Lately I try to avoid it and rather go to the PO by my work. Service has been going down hill, especially from one employee. You will recognize her, older, short and fat with greying hair in a bun. Always an attitude, rude and zero help. She always, and I mean EVERY TIME I see her, looks miserable and acts like she doesn't want to work. I let the person behind me go in front if I see her counter open... Yeah, that bad. Last time I dropped off a package there, the package came back to me after more than a week with a sticker that pretty much said that "due to heightened security, this package needs to be dropped off at the post office or given to a mail carrier"... Last time I leave anything with that miserable cow. The rest of the employees are nice enough, although the mail carriers are too lazy to walk a package 50 feet, they just leave a notice at the mailbox that says "we attempted delivery but there was no safe location". Bull crap, I was home all day as was my wife... Now I have to wait the whole weekend for something that I urgently needed and go to the post office to pick it up Monday. I am done with this location, they suck! read more

Super rude manager. My apartment complex main office is closed so I came down to the post office to get my mail. Even with Id she was extremely condescending and obnoxious towards me. Can't really do much to get my mail elsewhere but I'll be using FedEx to ship from now on. They are way more expensive but at least they aren't rude. read more

I moved to Tarzana 4 years ago. Love the city but not the local Tarzana post office. There is one employee named Thung that is creepy and rude. She lacks the skill to communicate with people. Everytime I have shipped a package Thung jacks up the price, she can't seem to understand the sentence...."I only want the cheapest rate to ship." Thung you are lucky you have a job.
