Love the space/vibe: wide-open, one side of walls are all windows looking onto street, plently of diverse seating (2 seaters outside; inside long standing height bar table, long sitting table, various 2 seater tables). Very popular, full of energetic young students even on a weekday, probably because it's part of a new apartment complex. THe music level is also appropriate, although the chatter from the high volume of customers can get loud sometimes (as the high cielings can also amplify the sound), noise cancelling earphones work fine. Wifi is also seemingly strong. Service: staff are very friendly, they greeted immediately when walking up to the counter. Menu: very diverse drinks and appetizing pastries/smore cookie. So far just tried the espresso, it's good (not my style though - more sour note, but keen to try their hand-drips next time as there are 3 different diverse flavor profiles). They didn't provide the sparkling water on the side like the other K-town cafes do but not a problem at all. Parking: There's "90 min" free retail parking on 1st floor of apartment garage. Not a whole ton but was able to find parking, and there seems to be street parking too. Con: there's only a few outlets along the left side wall where the 2 seater tables are, so probably only like 2 useable outlets in the whole place. But doesn't seem to be a problem for those with newer laptops. Closes at 6pm, wish it could be open a bit longer. Will definitely be back again! read more

I've been here 4 times now and this is my first photo. The interior of Van Dyke Coffee is disarming and sweet; or, as a good friend would describe it, precious. You walk in and into the scents of their very own roasted coffee beans from a location in a neighboring Los Angeles part of town. Each time I've been here, the owners (both husband and wife) have been engaging and warm. Today, they weren't there but the warmth of the space was left intact. In the picture is an oat milk flat white, silky; joined by an almond, yuzu croissant. Their coffee, but, especially, their pastries, are a sweet tooth person's delight! If you want to just pick up and go -- this is the place. If you want to order and experience -- this is the place. Van Dyke, for me, embodies my idea of The Coffee Shop. read more

Stumbled upon this place because we frequent Yama Sushi next door. They are so friendly here! Customer service is great and the coffee and food are equally great. I've tried the double mango matcha, the orange espresso tonic, and the orange mocha and all have been 10/10. We ordered a steak and cheese sandwich today and chocolate chip cookie - all of which we recommend. The pastry case always looks so good! They make their pastries in house. Also it feels very open and clean in here - seems great for meetings or if you need somewhere to study/work. A coffee shop worth trying in k-town! read more

Wow wow wow. What a great coffee shop! Despite being in their soft opening, they were BUSY! And you would think because it's busy it be loud, but it wasn't at all. Everything was at a chill noise volume, you could hear the baristas call out your name no problem. The baristas were super helpful and kinda, guided me through their menu and helped me pick out a great drink that I loved. I tried all my friend's drinks as well and they were ALL amazing (best strawberry milk I've ever had, who would've guessed it!) The space was clean and professional, drinks came out quick and again, they were delicious! Can't wait to go back here again! 10/10 read more

Tried the coconut matcha and the pistachio croissant . Coconut matcha was outstanding and unique. I'll come back just for this!!! The croissant wasn't as good as I expected--just pistachio chocolate on top, but otherwise pretty standard with no filling. The space is nice with plenty of seating inside and outside along Olympic. Bathroom is conveniently inside, and staff were attentive. Came right after lunch next door and still enjoyed the visit. Too bad that House coffee is served until 10am. read more

New go-to cafe in Ktown! I am a big fan of their iced matcha latte and also their new double matcha. The iced matcha has a perfect true matcha flavor with just the right amount of sweetness from agave, my favorite. DJ recommended their new double matcha to me and I'm so glad I tried it! The cream was rich in matcha flavor and so smooth and silky. It's also the tallest double matcha I've had in the area! I absolutely loved it. The staff is always kind and welcoming. I found them after stopping in at Yama Sushi Marketplace, normally I take the walk a block over to ROK, but thought I would take a look at Van Dyke and see what they had. It was amazing, I ordered their Mango matcha tea latte, their matcha latte, and the strawberry matcha lattes. Each one was so good, not too sweet, enough matcha (too much can be a dry bitter ride). The biggest difference is that Van Dyke hand whisks their matcha, whereas ROK does not. Also the baristas are so sweet and cute, and knowledgable! I wish them all the best and will be back soon! read more

My sister and I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too busy since it just opened. We both got the matcha strawberry latte. Line was fairly quick and we didn't wait that long. There were enough seats inside to study and chill, seats were comfortable too. Ambience was very nice. The matcha itself was very good, not too sweet which I like. If you like really sweet milky matcha I would not recommend this for you. The matcha was mixed very well, there was no separation or powderyness. It wasn't too milky or watered down either. There's no weird aftertaste either. If I lived in Ktown I would get matcha from here pretty often. Love the matcha here! Very delicious!! read more

Modern ambiance, wonderful customer service & good signature lattes! They have their menu with names & photos of their drink right by the entrance so it helps to decide what you want before entering. The employees were very kind and welcoming! I got the orange mocha with almond milk-I loved. They topped it with a freeze dried orange; the mocha with the tang of the orange blended so well with the drink. Van Dyke's Dutch latte is top 2 best drinks in Koreatown and it's not #2. And they know how to do pour overs which is rare in Koreatown. Great space to get work done in a neighborhood with not many study cafes. And never too busy or packed. Baristas are very knowledgeable and helped me navigate through the menu and drinks. read more

I've been twice now. I love that it's right next to Yama Sushi. The Dutch coffee was delicious. It was sweet but the coffee flavor was still strong enough. I also really liked the strawberry matcha. The service was very quick from ordering to receiving your order. I got the iced mango matcha latte and I could taste both parts equally. The energy inside is very comforting with a bright interior and lots of seating. There's an area with outlets by the wall, but limited. I got a Dutch Latte, to be honest is one of the best drinks I have try in ktown. Also their pastry is pretty good they have a variety of different pastry like cookies and croissants. The service is wonderful also they take there time with each of there customers which you don't feel rush.
