This is a cute little bake shop/ coffee shop in LAX Terminal B. They offer variety of bakeries and coffees. It is located in airport so expect the prices to be higher than most of the places. I usually make a purchase whenever I am flying out of LAX. Coffee and drinks always taste good. Service is okay. They usually have one person working so expect some delays. My order was ready within couple of minutes. I ordered a hot macchiato. The guy who helped me was nice and didn't give me attitude. It is located across from Starbucks and usually less crowded than Starbucks. It is good for a quick bite or a drink. read more

We were waiting by the gate to board for our first trip to Europe. Hoping to get some coffee before the flight but did not want to spend $10 at Starbucks so I found this cute coffee shop across. Reasonable price, cute cafe decoration and many pastries choices. I ordered an original latte, since there is only one staff so expect some wait time. The coffee tastes pretty decent and strong. My first experience at this adorable little shop flying American Airlines at LAX was when I stopped to buy a box of cupcakes and croissants for my family and a social media moment. As I approached, one gentleman was being helped and was walking away. I stepped up to the counter, and not only was I not acknowledged, but the woman behind the counter finished packing an order. That's fine, but a simple "I'll be right with you" would have made me feel seen instead of standing there awkwardly. She came over after about 30 seconds, with no eye contact, looking away from me, and said, "What do you need today?" At that moment, I decided not to patronize this business. Considering the quality of the baked goods on display, it would have been nice for the customer service to match. Maybe I'm old school, but I still think courtesy in the form of a hello, eye contact, and plain acknowledgment shouldn't be too much to ask. These days, I'm rewarding good service with my dollar. Friendly staff and good selection of pastries and drinks but definitely overpriced for subpar quality. The cupcakes are all pre-packaged in cardboard and shrink wrap. The taste was blah. My flight landed at 8:30 am and I walked out to see the gorgeous site of pastries and coffee! I had a cold brew iced coffee that really hit the spot; and I was full of energy after that. They have an assortment of breakfast pastries like croissants and danish, and they had cookies and cupcakes that looked to die for! It's in Terminal B near gate 151 across from Starbucks. Surprised to see a Vanilla Bake Shop at the airport! Prices are pretty reasonable for an airport concession. The croissants were $4.50 and large coffee was $3.75. We saw the line was way too long at Starbucks and we saw this shop nearby. We've heard of their products before and thought they'd be too expensive at an airport but surprisingly good price. Quality of food as expected and service was fast. read more

Customer service rep working on Feb 6, 2024 at 9:03 pm had a huge attitude issue. She could have simply answered a question about the cost of products but instead was condescending and gave an attitude. She was too busy to look up from her phone. I only wanted to find out how much the 2 different waters were -- the Dasani and the Smart water. When pressed on why she had an attitude and could not give a straight answer, she threatened to call security on me. She abandoned the counter and left, leaving the shop unattended. Also if you wanna get water/snacks probably just stop by the duty free/other concessionaires to save money, which I realized after I ordered. IT'S A TRAP !!!! You better off waiting in line at Starbucks. I purchased 2 Croissants and a coffee , once I got all the way to the gate I realized that croissants were like rubber, walked all the way back and asked them to get me new ones. I want to rate Vanilla Bake Shop top honors but I can't! The cupcakes are wonderful, tasty, moist, soft and not even too sweet. They are baked fresh in the morning in Santa Monica at their main location and driven/delivered to their LAX TBIT West location. Yes, TBIT West, the new LAX Tom Bradley International terminal. Vanilla Bake Shop is a small stand across from the new Starbuck's by gate 148 (I think). Everything is new including VBS. The low 3-star rating you ask? The prices are super hiked up. I know, it's in an airport, but it's still too expensive. $4.10 for 1 full sized cupcake. $6.20 plus tax for 3 mini cupcakes and over $20 for a dozen mini cupcakes. Once again, I'm not a cheapie when it comes to food, but that much for a cupcake is too rich for my blood. I may visit VBS again in the future, but for now I am good with my first trip for their cupcakes (spicy carrot cake, chocolate vanilla bean and red velvet). read more

I really needed iced caramel macchiato and the line at starbucks right next to this shop was way too long. I was not gonna wait for that so i ended up trying this place and omg!! best decision ever. Their iced caramel macchiato is as good as starbucks with about the same price. Their desserts are huge! Like, the chocolate chip cookies and macarons (especially)! They have many unique flavors of macarons and I went with the green tea macaron and it was so yummy. The filling was soft and rich as well as the outside part was well-made. Pretty pricey, as other reviewers have noted. Small booth location with lots of sweets and beverages. Overall a quite tidy and cute-looking food option. Opted for the Macarons; Hazelnut, Salted Caramel Chocolate, and Vanilla. Hazelnut and Salted Caramel were a little dry like they had been sitting for a while. Salted Caramel had very little flavor, and Hazelnut tasted like mellow Nutella. The Vanilla Macaron was really great and I wish I had just ordered three of those instead! read more

Small cupcake kiosk in the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX, to the left of Duty Free, near Gate 150. They also have cookies, brownies, mini macaroons, and specialty coffee drinks made with Groundwork Coffee. The signage is cute and girly, but their display cases are a little sad. Illuminated with a clip light, several of the display items looked old or slightly messy. The Vanilla Latte Cupcake was very good. The cake was light and fluffy, angel food style, topped with creamy icing that had just a touch of espresso flavor. Their Iced Coffee is just hot brewed coffee over ice, which I did not mind in theory, but it was ultimately undrinkable. It tasted burnt and sour. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was bland, floury, and slightly stale. The Pistachio Macaron was okay, but the filling was just cheap marzipan. Somehow, one cupcake, one macaron, a cookie, and a small iced coffee came to $8. I did the math, and this made no sense as the cupcakes alone are $4.75 each, but I did not question the nice lady working. I totally agree with Ticha B. It breaks my heart to have to pay $14(includes tax) for 3 mini cups and one large cupcake. (That's a movie ticket, a good book, a regular mani, etc.) But they are really good! For a splurge, I would get the 3 minis again - just to be able to try different flavors for the price. This is a once in a quarter treat - for someone who works at the airport. The pumpkin cupcakes are soooo yummy! They do different flavors depending on the season. The vanilla bean and spicy carrot are staples and are really good as well. They have more than just cupcakes. The display has macaroons, brownies, cookies, and they even have coffees, hot chocolates, and teas. Between paying for your international flight and the duty free liquor, you might not have enough $$ to buy any cupcakes. I'm knocking one star cause the service was distracted and not really great. Before boarding my international flight, I was jonesing for something sweet. I saw a display of macarons and instantly decided that I MUST have them. I got to the cashier, and she sadly told me that the only flavor they have left is pistachio. Bleh.
