Amazing cuisine! Stopped in to grab some soup on a rainy day. Ordered the soup de jour, a sweet pea purée. Best iv ever had. I wanted everything on the menu but the soup filled me up. Service was outstanding and the dining slash open kitchen is perfect for atmosphere. This is the spot for Elevated heart comforting fare if you're passing through. Staying in the area while visiting the National Parks and looking for a good meal. This place came up and we decided to try - best meal of our entire trip! We were warmly welcomed by the hostess and seated at a table overlooking the kitchen where Chef was finishing dishes before calling for service to the excellent service staff. There was an Oktoberfest menu with beers and food to compliment. I started with the French onion soup and my husband a mixed green salad. The soup was hardy and my only call out was the cheese on top was chared so occasionally a bite would have a burnt flavor that over powered the balanced taste of the soup. The salad had a light vinegar based dressing and was great. For mains, my husband had the special, traditional sauerkraut dish which included sausage and potatoes. It was a massive portion and he loved it! I ordered the small portion of the spaghetti bolognese which was more than filling. The sauce was perfect as it was not overly acidic. There was bread and fresh butter as well and easy to tell that both were homemade. We finished with a scope of prickly pear sorbet and creme brulee - both were delicious. The sorbet was light and airy and the brûlée had an impeccable layer of crystallized sugar that made the best crackle sound with the use of a spoon. Highly recommend this place! read more

All of our to-go dishes were truly out of this world. The lobster risotto, mushroom crepe appetizer (minus the bacon sauce), and the scallops w/ gnocchi and spinach were sublime. This restaurant is worthy of a MICHELIN star. No question about it. The French Laundry does not hold a candle to Vermillion 45. We look forward to dining here again before we depart. read more

We loved finding a fine French restaurant in Kanab! We had a lovely time. Arriving without reservations on a Tuesday at 6:00 pm we were surprised how busy they were. We sat outside - the only people outside - but within the hour the patio was full. Excellent service, despite how busy they were. We enjoyed a first course of French onion soup and mussels. We shared the Duck Confit as our main course. Everything tasted great! Wine prices were moderate, and the selections were on the lowered range. We would have preferred some higher quality options. Amazing restaurant! I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. Who knew camping and exploring the area I would be able to find such a hidden gem! I ordered the escargot and it was literally the best I've ever had. I also ordered a shrimp dish that blew my mind with flavors. Superb - authentic French - chef is from France and is talented - a big surprise in little Kanab. Stopped overnight on our drive from Prescott, AZ to Park City. My husband had the stewed short ribs and I had gnocchi puttanesca with house made gnocchi - food beautifully plated in nice uniquely shaped bowls - stew was served in a terrine - had wine, two salads, two entrees, dessert and coffee for $77 - reasonable and good value - we'll be back! read more

Went twice! What a delightful surprise to find this restaurant in a small town! Lobster bisque was fabulous as was French onion soup. The chicken Marsala and lobster risotto were great bites and presented beautifully. When we returned we tried the vegetarian entrees including the vegetables in pastry and mushroom pasta. We had dinner at Vermillion 45 three times during the 5 days we were at Kanab. Food is wonderful with lots of options of prices. The French touch is found throughout. I would give it a 5 star but service needs a bit of improvement. They are new, so I'm certain they will get better with time. We decided to try Vermillion 45 because of it's European and more specifically French food. My spouse and I were so happy we chose it. This place stands out as really fine cuisine in an area where steaks, fries,and burgers rule the roost. My spouse had the pleasure of enjoying the duck leg with scalloped potato casoulet. He raved about the potatoes so much that I tried them too and was equally impressed. I had the spaghetti bolognese and it's was so flavorful . The noodles perfectly cooked too. Benjamin, the gregarious owner, is front and center assisting the waitstaff without getting in the way. If you want a restaurant where fine European dining is celebrated, this is your place. read more

Just ordered two creme puff pastries, my friend had gotten hers first and they looked delicious! But as mine arrived and I had already walked out the door to leave, I looked inside my to go box and they looked nothing like my friends! Not to mention they took ten minutes to get mine out to me after my friends. They weren't even creme, they had just put some whipped creme in the middle and called it good. I generally do not waste my time writing reviews unless the business was beyond SUPERB or ridiculously expensive or extremely bad food. I am easily amused BUT I am definitely not easily impressed especially when it comes to food. I ordered the short rib stew and it was exceptional. It also arrived in this ADORABLE mini cast iron pot. What a FUN presentation! My husband order the Three Course Prix Fixe menu which he chose the Shrimp Louie Salad, the Petit Filet Wellington, and the Belgian Chocolate Ganache Tartelette ( super CUTE). They were ALL OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The food came in very good size serving and the price was VERY REASONABLE (unlike Sego- some items on the menu was good, other were too sweet but everything was EXPENSIVE and you will still be hungry). The staff were very honest and personable. They were short handed this evening but the staff took the time to share with us about the area and how they ended up in the area. The owner got right to work whereever needed. It was SO FUN to see the chefs working so calmly as they prepared the meals and the room was full of hungry people.... The food from the appetizer to the main course to the dessert were all extraordinary. You can tell they put a lot of effort, time, and skill into all the dishes they cook. I love the food at Vermillion 45. The building was very nicely remodeled before they opened, and I like the atmosphere. The acoustics are a little tough when it's crowded. Service is so-so, since the food is so good I expect more experienced waiters but it's hard in such a small town. Nitpic, I ordered a pinot noir accidentally instead of griggio and would have appreciated not have gotten charged for both (I can't drink reds due to a medical condition). Most higher end restaurants would have just taken the hit for it, so it felt a little petty since I am a local and have been there many times. The food will keep me coming but too much of that kind of thing would definitely send me across the street. read more

What a pleasant surprise to find an authentic rustic French restaurant in Kanab. Friendly service, great-tasting hearty food, and a small selection of great microbrews. Dinner: The pasta is SO good! The gnocchi was fantastic!! The meatballs were a little dry for my taste but oh my god the pasta! Friend had one of the other pastas and raved about it. The Most Glorious Meal and Delightful Conversation at Vermilion 45. From the start, The Charcuterie Board, can I say pâté; to the main course Filet Mignon, the prefect rare, Mussels w/frites, to the dessert, it was Glorious!! This is elevated fare from wonderful, skillful Chefs with a friendly atmosphere. This was our first visit but will most certainly not our last. A delightful find in Kanab, and they got us in with :20 notice. The decor is charming French-country. The menu is fairly traditional and authentic French and Italian. We shared the lobster gnocchi which was gnocchi perfection in a heavenly sauce, but a bit light on the lobster meat for the price. Our first dessert order was improperly prepared and quickly replaced upon request The sorbets were wonderful, but the cannoli shell was a bit soggy - should not be pre-stuffed. We didn't partake the wine list but it appeared well-matched to the menu. Service was the best we experienced in town! We'll definitely return if/when back in Kanab. read more

Kanab has great places to eat and now we have a wonderful French-Italian option too, Vermilion 45. I enjoy Gnocchi and I've had it in many countries including Italy. The Gnocchi and Meatball at Vermillion 45 is at the top of my list for taste and texture. It's pan seared to add an amazing outer layer to the firm but smooth potato pasta. Then the wonderful sauce added to the entire experience with just the right amount of Parmesan cheese on top. I use the bread & butter to savor every drop of the sauce. I had to try the creme brûlée and it too was right on point. Wow. Nice layer of caramelized sugar glazed on top with berries and a cold creamy filling that too was smooth and tasty. I was sad to put my spoon down when it was gone! If you enjoy fizzy water they have a really nice carbonated water option rather that plain water if you so desire. I enjoyed it. They are open 11-11 daily which is so nice to add a late night option to our wonderful town. Thanks to the Vermillion 45 team for all your hard work. I'm not from the area and was just in town to visit the national parks close by. Vermillion was the best restaurant we went to during our 5 night stay in Utah. I wasn't sure what to get so I went with something safe and got the burger. The burger was really good but what really knocked our socks off was the soup of the day. It was the cream of garlic soup. Vermillion was the first restaurant of trip and couldn't stop talking about how good the garlic soup was the entire trip. Too bad it was only the soup of the day. Otherwise, we would've came back for seconds and thirds. We also had the calamari and french onion soup which were also great. If I'm ever in the area again, I am definitely coming back here. read more
